Spoilers for "Agent Carter" episode 5
“The Iron Ceiling,” written by Jose Molina and directed by Peter Leto:
Peggy is finally trusted with a mission and calls upon her trusted Howling Commandos squad for backup. But her cover could be at risk when SSR Chief Dooley also sends Agent Thompson with her, on “Marvel’s Agent Carter,” Tuesday, February 3 (9:00-10:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.
Howling Commandos news:
Dum-Dum Dugan (Neal McDonough) will be joined by three new Commandos!
Leonard Roberts (Heroes, Buffy the Vampire Slayer) has been cast in the role of Happy Sam Sawyer, Richard Short (666 Park Avenue) will play Pinky Pinkerton, and James Austin Kerr is signed on to be Junior Juniper.
All three characters are Marvel Comics characters and actual members of the Howling Commandos. Here is a brief description of all these characters from the comic books:
Samuel “Happy Sam” Sawyer: Member of the British Commandos after being assigned by the U.S. Army, Happy Sam (nicknamed due to his very serious attitude) was trained in parachuting in 1940 by “Finley’s Flying Circus” in Britain. He ends up becoming an organizer and commanding officer for the Howling Commandos after being deemed as unfit for field missions after getting wounded in North Africa in 1942.
Jonathan “Junior” Juniper: Junior was one of the founding members of the original Howling Commandos team and was also the youngest member in the whole group. His death became big during the 1960’s, when it occurred in Sgt. Fury and the Howling Commandos.
Percival “Pinky” Pinkerton: Coming from a rich background with some of the top military academies in England, Pinkerton ends up replacing Juniper after he dies in the Howling Commandos series. After losing his passion for being in the military and going down a dark path, Pinkerton ends up enlisting for World War II and becomes a private commando.
There are already a few noticeable changes with Sawyer, who is now being portrayed by an African-American actor, and Juniper is still alive while Pinkerton is around. There will most likely be a few other differences, as well. So... What do these additions say about the Howlers we saw in Captain America: The First Avenger?
