THE TEAM DEALS WITH OLIVER’S DISAPPEARANCE — In the aftermath of Oliver’s (Stephen Amell) fight with Ra’s al Ghul (Matt Nable), Diggle (David Ramsey) and Arsenal (Colton Haynes) continue to protect the city in the Arrow’s absence. However, after three days without hearing from Oliver, they begin to fear the worst may have happened to their friend. Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) refuses to believe that Oliver could be dead until Merlyn (John Barrowman) pays the team a surprise visit. Thea (Willa Holland) suspects there is something more behind Oliver’s disappearance and asks Merlyn for a favor. Meanwhile, Ray (Brandon Routh) tests a part of his new suit and Laurel (Katie Cassidy) takes up the mantle of the Black Canary. Recap:
Police chasing suspects in a van. Men shooting at the cop cars. They shoot at a tanker and block the cops. Roy comes in as Arsenal. He's on Oliver's bike with Felicity in his ear. Diggle is in the Arrow suit. Diggle is not great with the arrows. Roy grabs one guy out of the van. Diggle joins him. "More of a Glock kind of guy."
Felicity and the boys in the Arrow Cave. It's been 3 days. Now she's off to work. Roy asks Diggle how much longer before we start worrying.
Hong Kong - Oliver and Maseo with Waller. Omega needs Alpha to be dangerous. It's in the hands of the military. Waller says recover it. Maseo is concerned with Tatsu. Waller says the task at hand is not recovering your wife.
Ray in his lab. Testing the ATOM gauntlet. Not working. Felicity comes in. She's been thinking. You think you'll be safe in that suit of armor, but... I don't want that to happen to you. Ray says let's not get ahead of ourselves. Start small.
Laurel and Captain Lance in the courtroom. Bail hearing for Mr. Fisher. She wants bail denied. Judge agrees.
Arrow Cave. Diggle says ARGUS doesn't know where Oliver is. Felicity's trying to find the guy that got away last night. He works for Brick. Fisher and Anton got Brick out of prison. Roy leaves. Diggle tells Felicity she's in denial. She says Oliver survived so many things. You have to believe in him. Diggle says he's preparing for the possibility that things didn't go Oliver's way this time. You need to, too. "Please, Oliver, where are you?"
Oliver's body on a ledge. He fell a long way. A man approaches the body in a hood.
Anton is in trouble. Brick removes his jacket and tie and shirt. What we're planning requires the cops to not know anything. Anton is offered a pistol. Says it doesn't have to be like this. If he can take Brick down first, he walks out alive. Then Brick beats him to a pulp and leaves him with the boys.
Laurel talks to Fisher. He says Brick scares him more than she does.
Thea and Malcolm training with swords. Never do the same move twice. Your opponent will learn to read you. She gets a text, hoping it's Oliver. She's worried. Malcolm says he can look into it. "He's family." Heh.
Felicity gets info for Diggle and Roy, then goes to work.
Maseo and Oliver in Hong Kong. Mission to get Alpha. Maseo has Oliver covered with a sniper rifle. Oliver ziplines to the building.
Roy and Diggle on mission. In a warehouse. Remains of a dead burned guy. And burned phones. Hardly any evidence left. They bring it back to Felicity. And the Cave door is open. They rush down and it's Malcolm in there. "I've only come here to talk. Would it be possible to do that?" He asks if Oliver is still alive. Have you heard from him? If he was alive, you would've heard from him by now. The Demon's Head does not take prisoners.
Felicity working on the numbers they found. Roy says what's the point. She says Malcolm didn't tell us anything we don't know. And Oliver taught me all you can do is keep pushing forward. Laurel comes in and says she has the ME report on Anton. Where's Oliver? He went to fight the head of the League and we haven't heard from him since. And Merlyn says Oliver is dead. Laurel doesn't believe it. He'll be back again.
Malcolm on the mountain. Finds the bloody sword.
Hong Kong - Oliver breaks the window to get in. Finds Alpha. Team follows. Guys start shooting at them. Triad.
Arrow Cave. Felicity says the numbers go with cataloguing. Malcolm brings the sword in. It's Ra's custom to leave behind the instrument of death. Diggle asks if he saw Oliver's body. He fell into a ravine. Felicity asks how do we know that's Oliver's blood. He says you'll test it and you'll figure out. Olvier Queen is dead. Felicity says this is your fault. Malcolm says yes, and I'll live with that guilt all my days. Says he's truly sorry, can see how much she loved Oliver. Diggle calls bull. You're enjoying this. Malcolm says Felicity is correct, that he orchestrated this to get out of Ra's death sentence.
Oliver's body is dragged away on a pallet.
Arrow Cave. Team sits silent. Computer beeps. Blood Analysis. It's Oliver's blood. Diggle tries comforting Felicity. She says thanks for not says I told you so. I have to go to work. You don't. It's fine. Glad we know now.
Hong Kong - Maseo tells Oliver to go.
Roy sits alone, finishes a drink. Thea says she's never seen him drink alone. You okay? Got some bad news about a friend. She says she's worried about Ollie. You and the Arrow are close, right? Oliver isn't answering my calls, so maybe the Arrow could look for Oliver? Maybe you can ask. Yeah.
Roy tells Diggle. But now, what's the point in lying to Thea? Doing all this without him is another situation! Diggle says what do you want me to do? Keeps looking at the case. Seen this file somewhere before. Brings up case numbers on guys we caught. There's a pattern. All awaiting trial for assault, attempted murder, etc.
Felicity keeps turning off calls from Diggle. Ray asks any luck with nanite problems? She says it won't work. Your plan won't work. It won't bring her back. Your fiancee. She's not coming back. When we lose someone, they're gone! And there's nothing, nothing we can do that will bring them back, so you have to stop. Ray says never tell me again what Anna would've wanted. You don't get to do that. She apologizes and hurries out of the office. Answers her phone.
Diggle and Roy tell her the numbers are for Police Evidence. A lot of this is what we've done in the past 8 months. She says she'll call Lance and be right there.
Brick's team at work. Taking evidence boxes. Arsenal drops in. Diggle outside. Firefight. Police arrive outside. Felicity watching through security cameras. Diggle out of bullets. "Here, use mine." Brick tells him take me down, you walk out alive, but I don't fancy your chances.
Diggle tries to shoot Brick. And then they fight.
Police stuck outside. Arsenal is pinned down.
Brick has Diggle, until Arsenal shoots him. Bad guy truck gets away. Door closes on Diggle and Roy, preventing them from chasing.
They return to the Cave. Brick got away. Wait, you let him get away? Diggle says, Felicity, it wasn't your call to make! She says I saved you. I chose not to let anyone else I care about die. Oliver isn't here anymore. He's dead. Diggle says we have to trust each other. She says there is no this without him. It's done, I'm done. She leaves. Turns the lights off on them.
The mountain. Someone knocking. Maseo brought Oliver to someone.
Ray in the office. Felicity comes in and says she was out of line and she's sorry. He asks what had her so upset. I lost a friend of mine. More than a friend. He was.....I'm not sure what we were, but he's gone. And 3 months ago, another friend died. I'm 25 years old. Over my quota. And you're my friend. I don't have to stop you from committing suicide, but I can't help you.
Laurel and Diggle. She says without the evidence, judge had to let them go. Diggle says Oliver isn't coming back. Are you? Are you coming back? Diggle says I don't know. I don't know what happens next. It's silly, but I still like to think of myself as Oliver's bodyguard, and I just couldn't protect him. They hug. And he was worried something would happen to me... Laurel looks at Sara's gear.
Thea gets home. Looks at the mail. Hears a noise. It's Malcolm. We're in danger, Thea. We need to leave Starling City and never return.
Brick with the bad guys released. He still has the evidence as leverage. We'll make a lot of money and we'll make history. We're gonna take over the Glades.
Black Canary attacks 2 of the guys. I'm the justice you can't run from.
Hong Kong - Waller tells Oliver you shouldn't have let a man get away. Maseo says you chose not to shoot him. Oliver says he put the GPS in the man's pocket. You'll get Tatsu back, I promise.
Oliver breathes and wakes. Maseo and Tatsu. She brought him back to life.
Next week - Starling City is in trouble. Black Canary and Arsenal work together.
