VINCENT HAS WEDDING BELLS IN MIND — With the happy couple seeming to be enjoying an ordinary life, Vincent (Jay Ryan) thinks the timing might finally be right to pop the question, until Cat (Kristin Kreuk) stumbles on an extraordinary case with the FBI involving somebody who goes on a superhuman rampage. Though reluctant to engage with the case for fear of losing the normality he has found, Vincent finds himself with no other options when Cat is injured after discovering that someone is drugging innocent victims and transforming them into super-humans. Meanwhile, Tess (Nina Lisandrello) accuses JT (Austin Basis) of stalling his recovery as he tries to understand how he’s still alive. Nicole Gale Anderson also stars. Jeff Renfroe directed the episode written by Brad Kern (#301).
Episode 1:
Vincent running on rooftops.
Catherine in the car chasing someone.
Vincent leaps between buildings.
She says you're late. He says sorry, been a while since I Beasted out. Almost forgot how. She says it's only been 2 months. He kisses her. They're on her roof, taking a chance to be together around busy schedules.
Morning. Alarm goes off. Vincent turns it off, then kisses her. They make breakfast. She gives him a stethoscope. His first day back to work as Dr. Keller. She says she keeps waiting for the other shoe to drop. He says you're worrying about what those agents said about other threats. Maybe. He says we have our life, our future, so stop worrying. I won't let anything mess it up. Remember, reservation tonight. We have a lot to celebrate.
JT hobbles in to give a lecture. Welcome back, Professor. He can't do it.....too nervous. Tess on the phone with him. She says it's natural to be nervous, but you have to get your strength back, your life back.
Catherine on the phone with the agent. Stop calling me.
Tess says she's doing what she can with JT, but he should be better by now. Something's holding him back. Cat wants to meet with DHS. Tess says you miss fighting Beasts. Cat admits she misses being part of something bigger, important. Tess says Vincent will hit the roof. Cat doesn't want to risk him or their life, but she has to think about whether they have a destiny.
She goes to the meeting. The agents keep insisting they need her. They show her video of multiple super strong people. Someone's getting innocent people to do extraordinary things. Someone's experimenting on people. This is escalating. And they're hurting others or dying because of it. Say you'll help. Say Vincent will help. She says she needs more proof before taking this to him, because she's the only one that cares about keeping him safe.
JT's place. Vincent comes in. He wants the box of his mom's stuff. JT's been keeping it safe since Vincent left for Afghanistan years ago. Vincent asks JT about still needing the cane. Takes notice of JT's meds on the desk. Asks about JT's first day back at class. JT finds the box. Vincent searches through it for Mom's engagement ring. I'm going to ask Catherine to marry me. JT grins. Yay!
Catherine looks at a wedding dress. Heather in a dress! Forgot she's engaged. Heather's glad she knows and Cat doesn't have to keep the Beast secret. Cat says you have to keep it secret from your fiance, though. Cat gets a text. They hug and she leaves.
Vincent in the ER. Reporting for work. Welcome to New York General. Dive right in. Vincent asks if shifts finish on time. I have dinner with my girlfriend, I'm going to ask her to marry me. Nurse says don't do it, hero. No one stays married around here for long. Yikes.
JT and Tess meet at a cafe. JT says I shouldn't be alive at all. I should be dead. I can't figure out that crazy medicine they gave me. Tess tells him to get off his pity pot and grow a pair. You have to get over this. You have to figure it out. God doesn't make mistakes, so figure it the hell out already. She gets a text and leaves.
Agents and Cat talk to a woman about her husband. He became aggressive, ambitious overnight. He became a different person. He started fighting with anyone. He got arrested, then broke out of jail. That's not Tyler. What is happening to him? The guy watches through the window.
Agents tell Cat the man jumped 60 feet to get out of jail. You'd help if we found proof. Help us find Tyler. Who lands in front of them and attacks. He pushes Cat down. Then scales the building.
Vincent at the restaurant. Roses, champagne, candles. He asks about how to put the ring in the champagne glass so she won't swallow it. The host says put it in a strawberry so it floats on the top. Vincent gets a text. He asks the host to hold the table, I have to get to the hospital. Pays extra. Cat calls him. He says hey, babe, sorry, we have a delay. There's an emergency at the hospital. She says yeah, I think I'm the emergency. She's in an ambulance.
Vincent gets back to the ER. Cat is being interviewed. She's fine, just a bit sore. He recognizes Agent Thomas being worked on. The back of her neck hurts. She says the other agent is dead. We were attacked. It was fast, violent, unlike anything I've seen, we've seen before. Vincent asks why she didn't talk to him about this. Thomas is coding. Vincent goes to help and gives orders. Listens with his Beast senses and gives a diagnosis.
Cat tells Vincent that someone's experimenting on innocents. Sounds familiar. He's upset. I thought we agreed we wouldn't risk losing everything we have. We were supposed to celebrate tonight, just you and me. She apologizes. He says she has no idea. Sorry, I'm trying to process. She says we're part of something bigger. Just like Alastair and Rebecca. He says when do we get to be normal? When is is it all enough? Every time I transform back into that thing, I risk losing my humanity and risk losing us. I can't, won't, do it anymore.
Vincent goes to JT's. How'd it go? Did she like the ring? Vincent says I don't know, I didn't ask. He puts the ring on the desk and leaves. JT's left confused.
Cat watches the video. Heather finds her. Going back to Miami. I left a few things at the apartment. Heather asks Cat if she's okay? Yeah. Just a few bruises. Is this a Beast case? Yeah, kind of. I don't know what to do. I'd do anything for Vincent. And I don't blame him, he wants a normal life. But when something like this happens, I can't do nothing. But when he's involved, he's at risk. I have to do something, though. Heather says this is a couples problem. You have to get on the same page. Find him and finish your fight.
JT knocks at Vincent's. Houseboat. Don't want a pep talk. JT says you're getting one anyway. What happened? Vincent says we don't see eye to eye. Since when? Since Catherine decided to become a Beast hunter again. Those DHS agents recruited her. I can't believe she put herself in that position, that she'd want to. JT says maybe she felt she didn't have a choice. She can't ignore these things. I know you want a normal life, but you're not normal. You're a Beast. You're part of something bigger. You can't put your head in the sand. Vincent says who says we got to keep doing this? JT says destiny. The agents saved my life for you and Catherine. What are we going to do about what's going on?
Hospital. Vincent asks for Thomas' room. he's critical, but stable. He goes in and finds a man on Thomas on the floor. Hey! Tyler jumps out the window. Thomas says if you don't stop this, who will? Vincent yells for a nurse.
Cat is outside. Vincent drops down in Beast mode. She yells at him, Don't! Wait! He growls and speeds away.
Cat and Tess at Tyler's work building. She says I have to stop Vincent before he stops Tyler. He might have to cross the line. And we have to save Tyler, not kill him. Tess agrees.
Vincent searches. Up.
Tyler sets a bomb. Vincent confronts him on the roof. Tyler hits him hard. They go at it. Tyler is stronger and faster. Vincent hangs on to the edge of the roof.
Tess looks at the security footage. Roof, hurry.
Vincent gets back on the rooftop and goes after Tyler again. Cat yells at him to stop. Vincent has Tyler held to a fan blade. Catherine says You cannot kill him! He's innocent! Someone experimented on him. Just like Muirfield did to you. Vincent, please, don't. I will lose you. We will lose everything! Vincent finally lets him go. And lets the Beast go.
Whoa, only 10 minutes left? Dang!
Houseboat. Cat finds Vincent. He was working out. She asks if he wants her to leave. No. He says I don't know what I want anymore. Sorry, of course I want you here, that's never going to change. How's Tyler? She says he's alive, thanks to you. He says no, thanks to you. She says Agent Thomas got Tyler in a secure facility to try to help him. Whoever did this will keep doing it. Keep using New York as their private petri dish until God knows what. We're supposed to stop them. We're in this together or not at all. Vincent asks doesn't our future count? She says of course. But we can do both. Have it all. We're here for a reason. We're together for a reason, but it's not just to love each other.
JT puts the box away. Tess says I need a drink. He's walking without the cane. Pours her a scotch. Tess says should've known our Beast hiatus was too good to be true. She's thrilled the cane is gone. He still has the med supplies. Still a hypochondriac. He says you wouldn't have saved those people without me. I helped Vincent realize he needed to help. Still doesn't explain how the medicine saved me, but that's a tomorrow problem. Come on, let's go out.
Cat on her roof. Vincent finds her. Hey. Hey. She says I was giving you space. He says thanks. She hoped he'd sweep her off her feet again, though. He says sorry to disappoint. She says never. He says sorry, it's been a rough couple of days. You think? He says like it or not, I'm not normal. I don't have a choice. She says we don't have a choice. When you think about it, it's just like why you wanted to become a doctor or soldier. Protecting people. He takes her hands. Then gets on one knee. Will you marry me? She nods and says yes. Yes, yes. He slides the ring on her finger. Of course it fits. They kiss. Yes? Yes! Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.
Next Thursday - JT's in trouble. And Vincent's having primal control issues.
