VAMPIRE HUNTER RAYNA CRUZ (GUEST STAR LESLIE-ANNE HUFF) ARRIVES TO MYSTIC FALLS — When complications from her supernatural pregnancy leave Caroline’s (Candice King) life hanging in the balance, Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Valerie (guest star Elizabeth Blackmore) take extreme measures to try and save her and the babies. Ep 13:
Saint Malo, LA. 1842. Young girl and a man at a campfire. She keeps asking about his Hunter's Mark tattoo. Asks when she gets hers. He says hopefully never. If I do my job right, you'll live in a world without bloodsuckers. He made stew. She refuses to eat until he teaches her how to fight. Gives her a short sword.
15 year later. They're sparring. It's no game, Rayna. Show me you want to survive, and never hesitate. Horn sounds. Vampire warning alarm. She wants to go with him. He says not today. this is my burden. One day, maybe yours. But not today.
Present. She's dressed now. Puts her hand on the glass. Punches it. Enzo says you're just going to hurt yourself. She breaks through it!
Underwear dance party. Damon and the chick enjoying themselves. He drank all the bourbon. She brings vodka. Offers a bloody Mary. AB neg, very rare. He says you gotta go. You leave now. I'll call you. Bonnie enters. I need a drink, and a buddy. She's surprised he's out of bourbon. Stefan killed Julian. When's the last time you spoke to Enzo? Tells him about Rayna Cruz. Enzo stole her corpse. She sits and finds a denim skirt.
Caroline is desiccating. Stefan tries to wake her.
Doctors prepare to do surgery. Stefan is tense. Valerie brings coffee. Stefan compelled the doctors to ignore everything medicine can't explain. Valerie gave Caroline magic to stop the dessication. Stefan feels guilty for leaving. She asks if he's told anyone about Elena. No. He can't find the words. Valerie says Caroline will have the babies, everything will be fine.
Bonnie isn't judging Damon for the girl. Enzo calls Damon looking for Bonnie. She doesn't want to talk. Enzo wants the sword. it's urgent. Bonnie says it's not happening. Enzo asks if Bonnie knows what he did to Elena? I take that as a no. Get the sword and bring it to Whitmore, or your best friend learns the truth. Damon asks Bonnie for a favor.
Alaric on the phone. He's on his way back. C-section has to happen now. Doctor cut Caroline and the vitals go nuts. Stefan and Valerie rush in. She figures The babies want to stay in Caroline.
1857 Louisiana. Julian vs. the hunter. Rayna sneaks into the scene. Let my father go! Do you know what happens to vampires that strike down one of the Five? You'll be stricken with the Hunter's Curse. Julian has a solution. I will not kill your father. You will. He grabs her and compels her. Bring a swift and merciful end to your father's misery. Rayna walks to her father. He says it's not your fault. It's his doing, not yours. Never forget that. Remember everything I taught you. Use it to continue my legacy, and know I'll be with you every step of the way.
Bonnie wants to know what Enzo has over Damon. He says leave it alone. She asks what did you do? He's silent. Bonnie says I'll leave a detailed entry for Elena about Krystal with a K. Damon says I can't tell you, so I'm asking you LEAVE IT ALONE. She gives him the sword. Thank you.
Stefan tells Caroline. Caroline asks what do we do? Valerie will channel magic outside your body so the babies are drawn to it. Caroline tells him to call Bonnie. Valerie is getting help - from the other Heretics. Caroline doesn't like that plan. Stefan promises he won't let anything happen to her.
They get to Enzo. Who is tied up. Rayna says thank you. Uh oh.
Damon takes back what he said on Thanksgiving '53. Heh. Enzo says Bonnie, meet Rayna Cruz. Bonnie says you were old and dead. Rayna shoots Bonnie. Damon throws the sword out the window.
Rayna sitting in a circle of American Natives. They give her tea to drink to be strong so no magic can touch her. She accepts our lives so she may have many. Rayna says I didn't ask for anyone to die. Shaman says they live on in you. Now, for the final step. The sword. Link her spirit with this sword. When this blade draws blood from a vampire, it will aid you, guide you. Avenge your father. Avenge us all. He stabs himself.
England, 1903. Beau singing. Gets stabbed through the neck. That's how he lost his voice. Rayna attacks Julian. Beau isn't healing. Julian tells the girls to book passage for New York tonight. They run. Rayna wakes.
She grabs her sword.
Heretics chanting in the delivery room. Stefan on the phone with Alaric. Alaric says please make sure nothing happens to them. Please. Stefan promises. Doctor tries to do the C-section again. Vitals steady. Seems to be working. Beau is bleeding from his scar.
Bonnie drinks Damon's blood to heal. You didn't hesitate. Thank you. Enzo asks for help with the ropes. Bonnie calls him a traitor. Nora calls Bonnie. Rayna is coming for Beau. I'm at the hospital helping your friend deliver the babies. Once she gets Beau, she'll go after any other vampire in her path and right now this hospital is full of them.
Caroline injected with atropine. Stefan doesn't want the Heretics to leave. Valerie says you have to let them go. Doctors are nearly finished. I can handle this on my own. Valerie tells Beau to never stop running, not for a moment. Valerie goes back to chanting in the delivery room. Caroline's color improves. Phone rings. Stefan says it's a bad time. Damon tells him about the sword. Stefan says I hear you're the one that gave it to her. Sit there and do nothing before you make this a bigger problem.
Bonnie asks why is he so mad at you? Damon says I screwed up bad and I have to make it right.
Past. Vampires going into pine boxes for transit. Rayna catches up to them. Julian stabs her with a piece of wood. On the carriage. Rayna throws her sword into Julian.
Beau stabbed. Nora and Mary run. Rayna lets out gas from an ambulance and sets a fire to consume Beau's body. Horrible way to die. He'll be stuck in the Phoenix Stone forever.
**Question - is Rayna limited by how many lives of the tribesmen she absorbed?
Stefan enters the delivery room. Holds Caroline's hand.
A date under the stars. He's in her head. With fries. She says you're trying to distract me. Is everything okay? He says it's fine. Least I can do is keep you company for a little while. She leans into him. Thank you.
Damon and Bonnie arrive. Beau is a smoking corpse.
Rayna searching the hospital. Damon confronts her.
Bonnie in the delivery room. About to get the babies out. Beau didn't get away. Valerie asks about the others. Bonnie doesn't know. But Rayna's somewhere in this hospital.
Damon says Rayna looks like a doppelganger.
Bonnie says Damon can't take Rayna alone. Stefan doesn't care what Damon needs. Bonnie will stay with Caroline. He's going to get himself killed.
Damon and Rayna fighting.
Alaric arrives. Bonnie tells Stefan to go.
Damon kicks Rayna.
Valerie and Bonnie chanting. Doc says almost there.
Rayna runs for her sword. Damon says you want to send me back to Hell? Let me tell you something - I'm already there. Rayna prepares her strike. Stefan intercedes and gets stabbed. He thinks of all the moments with Caroline. Knows he has to run. Nods to Damon and says I'll see you, Brother.
**So this opens the door to the end of the relationship and how Caroline and Ric are engaged 3 years from now. Long distance is hard to maintain.
Chanting. First baby ready to remove. It's out. Cries. And now, baby #2. Ric grins. Baby #1 is cleaned up and given to Ric. They're okay.
Enzo still tied up. Damon says the ropes make it easier to kill you. Enzo says he wasn't going to give Rayna the Phoenix Sword. Damon was only going to buy more bourbon, and now my brother's paying the price. Heads you live, tails you don't. Enzo says Elena's alive. You were hallucinating. Tyler thought it was best to have an empty decoy coffin. The real coffin and real Elena is in New York where my friends are keeping her very safe and very much alive. Damon says good.
Caroline awake. Asks about the babies. Bonnie says they're fine, with Alaric. They're beautiful. Caroline asks where's Stefan? What happened?
Stefan gets a call. Damon. Stefan asks why did you hand over that sword? Damon says Elena's alive. I didn't kill her. She's alive. I will fix this, I will. I will kill that huntress with my bare hands. I promise you. Caroline calls Stefan. I wish I could be there. She knows. Just wish it didn't always have to be you. Stefan promises he'll come back for her. I love you. I love you, too.
Alaric wheels the babies to Caroline. Wanna hold them? Valerie says it shouldn't be a problem. This is Josie. And this one is Elizabeth. In honor of your mother. Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
Caroline's on the road. Alaric tells her to go. Mommy? Don't wake up your sister. Where are we going? New Orleans. To visit Mommy's friend.
Next week - crossover. A way to take down Rayna.
