VINCENT RISKS BEING EXPOSED – Vincent (Jay Ryan) and Cat (Kristin Kreuk) fight to reclaim some normalcy to their lives, even as the threats of a beast bounty and a DHS manhunt loom. Meanwhile, Tess (Nina Lisandrello) takes a huge risk by protecting Vincent from a nosy reporter. Austin Basis, Michael Roark, and Nicole Gale Anderson also star. Episode 9:
Cat looking through binoculars. Vincent says looking for someone? Their rooftop. Kiss time. She has wine. He's nervous, keeps looking around. She says she maneuvered all the spying eyes away from here. He says Greydahl has put him on the squad to find the Beast. The buyer wants the Beast now. She says it shouldn't be this hard to be together after everything we've been through. There has to be a way. He gets a text to go to Stonefish Tavern, 20 minutes. Kisses goodbye, another promise, and he's gone.
Cat drinking alone. The reporter enters her office. Cat asks her to leave. Reporter wants to talk off the record. Your husband killed Dept. Hill. Smells like a cover-up. She hopes she's talking to a wife. You must think he's innocent. Cat is suspicious. Reporter suspects Vincent is some kind of super soldier, that Hill hired Greydahl, and Vincent killed him. I'm about to air what I know. She got a tip about a secret Greydahl meeting. I will tell a story soon. If your husband is innocent, you'll want to say so, too.
Tess at a dinner. Cat interrupts. ADA dude. He asks Cat to join. Both say she can't. Cat borrows Tess for a minute. Tells her about the reporter. I have to get Vincent out of the meeting without anyone getting suspicious. I didn't know who else to go to. Tess has done a couple dates with Alex. She can't live this life anymore. Cat knows. But Tess will help tonight.
Vincent at the tavern. Looks like a biker bar. Goes to the back. You're late. Nice to see you, too. Vincent asks about the tranq gun. Boss says we know enough. Client gives 48 hours or we lose the contract. bounty is 10 million. Search area is Midtown. military experiment gone bad. Heightened senses. This is not a joke, Keller. This thing is deadly. And we have to capture it alive.
Grace in the tavern. NYPD bursts in. Vincent spots Tess. Greydahl clears out of the back. Grace recognizes Tess. Police arresting everyone inside.
JT intercepts Vincent in the alley. In a Mustang. Knocking over trash cans, lol. "Saving your ass."
Cat had called JT. Grace Rose was going to expose you. They go to the apartment. Cat says we gotta go. You might want something to eat. Only a matter of time before Grace shows up here. Ready? Vincent says no. He wants to stick with Greydahl. She says if the press finds you, it's all over. We have to get out of town. He says if I don't show up, Greydahl will be more suspicious than ever. Cat says don't tell Tess what we're doing. JT thought we were giving her a normal life.
Greydahl. Where's Keller? Boss talks about the reporter. We have a leak. We've been ordered to stand down until it's fixed.
Tess on the phone with Alex. Grace shows up. Accusations. She thinks she's close to blowing the story wide open.
Into the countryside. Cat's car dirty from the dirt roads. They stop at a cabin. Cat found it for their 6 month anniversary. Vincent isn't happy that there's no cell service. Cat wonders if there's a vacuum. Vincent's uptight. She says we're here to figure out a plan before we go back. He's freaking out. Cat keeps reminding him about Grace Rose. She says we're never getting our lives back. It's gone. We can't get back what we had. He says you don't know that. She does. And so do you. Do you think the hospital will take you back? And DHS won't keep me. Tess can't hire me back. Normal is lost, Vincent. Our lives will never be the same.
JT on the computers. Looking into Grace. Not good. Tess arrives. Why are you ducking me? He says he's not. Okay, I am, but we're trying to protect you. Tess says it's too late for that. Grace threatened me. Where is Cat? JT says he can't tell. Tess says Cat has to cover for me. Where is she? JT says he can't. Tess is mad. How long can you keep doing this? I can't keep doing this. She storms out.
Vincent splitting wood. Yum. Cat comes out. Asks if he wants to be alone. He says no. She asks for a walk. Sure. Down the tree-lined path. He says maybe we could stay here. She says she's a city girl. He says there's plenty of other cities. There's no escaping this. Cat can't keep DHS off the tail much longer. He says the bears are looking better and better. Cat says Grace Rose might be our only hope. She doesn't know about Beasts. He lists how Grace knows too many things. Cat says all the more reason to tell her the real story. He says it's crazy. Walks out on the dock of the lake. You think we can convince her without mentioning Beasts? Cat thinks she can be trusted. All we have is the truth. Unless you want to wait until someone catches us. He says no.
Grace making plans. Gets a call. Cat at a pay phone. Can we talk? Grace asks where are you? Cat wants to be sure she protects her sources. We have to know we can trust you, or no deal. Gives her the address.
Greydahl merc is watching and listening to Grace. Tahmoe Penikett's character.
Grace says it'll take me a couple hours to get there.
The cabin. Car arrives. Vincent is still nervous. Grace gets out. Cat goes to her. Thanks for coming. Vincent comes out. Grace says nice to meet you. You're a popular man, Dr. Keller. Grace didn't bring the cavalry. Now let's see if she cares about the truth.
Tess meets with Alex again. She needs advice. What would you do if someone you knew was taking the law in their own hands? She's been doing some borderline stuff. Ends justify the means. He would arrest her. The works. Judge and jury decides guilt or innocence. That's how the system works. Your friend doesn't deserve to be a cop anymore.
They tell Grace a story. She asks why did you kill Hill? Why would Hill kill you? Cat says Hill was getting nervous. He was doing it outside the law. He didn't think DHS would support him in stopping it. Grace asks more questions. Cat can't answer them. Grace says there are too many questions. I believe you're sincere, but I can't help without cold hard facts to back it up. I need to know the truth. I'm sorry. Vincent says wait. You probably want to sit down for this. He Beasts. Cat calms Grace. That was off the record. Vincent asks will you please help us? She says yeah. Vincent hears someone outside. Get down! The merc attacks with flash-bang grenades. Cat wants to find Grace. They crawl to her. Vincent checks her pulse. It's thready, she needs a hospital fast. Merc figures Keller is the Beast. Should've known it was you. He fires at the cabin again. I'm really looking forward to this.
**What will Tess do this season? Quit the precinct? Move away from all this? Turn on Cat and Vincent for the sake of the law?
Grace looks dead. Vincent tells Cat to get a blanket. Grace is going into shock. Vincent will bolt and draw him away. Get to the car and get her to a hospital. Merc promises to let the ladies go. Time's up, freak show. Fires more grenades. Vincent runs out. Draws the merc into the woods. Dodges grenades. Gets trapped in a net. Tranq darts. Merc kicks him. Why? To find the bounty source? Cat comes up behind him. Put it down now. Merc isn't afraid of her. How will you explain all this? Vincent says go! Merc says drop your gun. Cat lowers her hands. He shoots at her. She shoots him dead. Frees Vincent. He tells her to go help Grace. She says it's too late. She's dead.
**So, now an innocent has died. Though one could argue Grace's pursuit of cases like this puts her in danger she had to be aware of, because she knew Greydahl was in this somehow, at least. She was the kind of TV show reporter that always arrogantly sticks their nose into things that get them killed or nearly so.
Troopers investigating the scene. Cat there. Cat's boss wants a call ASAP.
Tess in her office. JT knocks. Did you see the news? About Grace, yeah. Cat and Vincent are fine. It's not what you think. They were trying to tell Grace the help. She got caught in the crossfire. Tess cannot do this anymore. I'm resigning. He says you're not thinking straight. You're not responsible. Tess says I am for knowing what's really going on. JT doesn't want to let her do this. Tess says cops don't do this. JT says what if you stop knowing what's going on? Saving your normal. You can't change the past, but you can change the future. Don't cover for us anymore, but don't quit. Tess says what if our paths cross? JT will take the risk to keep her from resigning. Tess says she'll think about it. Thank you. Kisses his cheek. He leaves.
Cat and Vincent stop the car. He says we can't keep running. She says it's risky. He says at least we find our who's behind the bounty. He kisses her. No turning back, remember? I'm going to be okay. She says you better be. He gets out and walks away.
Greydahl. Vincent returns. You're looking for me. He's hit from behind.
Aug 11. Vincent is tested and tortured. And Tess arrests Cat.
