“You Made A Choice To Be Good”
WHEN EVIL RETURNS – Cade (guest star Wolé Parks) returns to Mystic Falls and presents Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan (Paul Wesley) with additional assignments, each with unthinkable consequences. Even with tension growing in their friendship, Caroline (Candice King) and Matt (Zach Roerig) do their best to protect the town’s residents from Cade’s appetite for their souls. Bonnie (Kat Graham) and Enzo (Michael Malarkey) hit the road on a romantic trip, taking the bell with them in hopes to keep it safe. Episode 11:
**How did Stefan compel Matt, when Matt being Matt should always be on vervain?
Coffee place. Bonnie with long hair. Cade behind her wondering about the coffee options. She recommends straight drip. He reads the barista. Sets him against the manager. Barista put against the door with a bloody mouth.
Stefan still in the basement. Damon teasing him. Seeing the world through rose colored glasses. Psycho sisters are MIA. Stefan reminds him of the deal with the Devil. Damon says it's not part of a redemptive lifestyle. Stefan says maybe you've been hanging out with my ex-fiance too much. Surprised she's not with you now. Damon says it's not all about you. I'm going to make pancakes.
Matt addresses the people. High school students found a time capsule from the first settlers. Hadn't been opened until now. He spots Caroline. She asks if he's okay? He says this morning was a mess. Caroline dug up the time capsule she, Elena, and Bonnie left when they were 11. Old photos. A letter to future Caroline. Ambitious predictions. He says Stefan's still locked up? She's remaining positive. Damon's like a new person. Matt says it's still Stefan that did all those things. Hard to keep giving him a pass.
Truck. Bonnie wakes. Still ringing in her ears. Enzo will stop and check the ties to make sure the bell is secure. Caroline texts her the time capsule. Tween Bonnie's bucket list. She asks Enzo's bucket list. Let's do them. Take full advantage of the perks of your immortality while you still have it. Why not make it an adventure?
Damon comes to the cell and Stefan is gone. Cade's in there! Where the hell is my brother? Cade sent him on a task. I assure you I'm very real. Takes the tray. Noted. Damon asks what brings you in town? Cade stepped through on the 11th ring and took up residence here since you need motivation. Damon doesn't feel like being your terminator anymore. Cade says feelings don't come into it. 100 people tonight or....quality instead of quantity. Caroline Forbes. Damon says she's a bit of a no-fly zone. Cade says up to you. By the time the sun goes down, kill 100 evil strangers or the love of your brother's life.
**Bonnie's hair is a lot longer now all of a sudden. Extensions? Wig? Been a long time since Bonnie had long hair, so I thought it was a flashback when she was in the coffee shop, until I saw Cade.
Matt spots something. Calls the intern. Hi, Dorian, I need you to tell me what this is. Dorian says it's a cypher device. Has the Maxwell crest on it.
Caroline and Damon. Cade's in town, set our boy friend, and told me to kill you. Stefan's not answering his phone. Damon says Cade's here to stay. Get these yahoos safe and you, too. Cade gave me to sundown to kill 100 people or you and I don't want to be tempted by either.
Race track. Enzo driving. Bonnie cheers from the stands. He says that was unbelievable! Swings her around and kisses her. She says happy looks good on you. What's next? He suggests skydiving. She says there's a place about an hour away. He asks what's on her mind? She doesn't want him to have missed out if he becomes human. He says when he says he'll do something, he does it. When I take the cure. But he'll take one more lap in the race car.
Caroline updates Matt. Damon has a plan. In the meantime, I made you a blood orange margarita. With my blood. Matt isn't interested. Becoming a vampire is a death sentence. he pours it out.
Cade finds Damon. Damon is busy, staying out of trouble. There's this girl I want to impress, so I'm trying to not kill anyone ever again. I want to renegotiate our deal. Cade says you think I'm being unfair. You're being you. Asking yourself if you can best my reflexes. And now you wonder if fire can kill me. Let's find out. Or were you going for something like this? Or detaching my heart from my body. Seen enough? Cade disappears after all his demonstrations.
**Out of your league, Damon. You're dealing with a truly immortal psychic being. Vampires are everlasting, not true immortals. They're killable.
Gas station. Stefan has a new car. Plays a lost person. Rambling to a woman. Ever get the feeling your boss can read your mind? She says she runs her own office. Stefan says he'd love to do that. He told me where to find you. You're going to help me with my deadline.
Dorian and Matt. Caroline brings a snack. No word from Damon. Matt says the Devil's in town. She's still pushing the insurance plan. Matt still says no. Dorian asks what's it like being you? She says the lows are low, but you feel stronger than you ever thought you would. Everything's heightened. Matt says the pain, a choice you regret forever. Caroline says some people don't regret it.
Enzo broke his phone. Bonnie bought a house in the middle of nowhere with money her dad left her. He wants a tour. She says you're forgetting one very important thing. She opens the door and invites him in. He pulls her out to pick her up and carry her in. One day we'll do that for real. Thank you, darling. Filling my bucket list was fun. She wonders if he needs more time as a vampire. He says nothing could be like my life with you as a human. Not a doubt remains in my mind. Let's get on with it. Grab a syringe and head straight for Elena in Brooklyn. Bonnie says about that.....
Damon needs a plan C. Caroline asks what happened to plan B? Damon says the bastard did things to himself. He's tougher than he looks. Caroline says there's one thing that makes immortals mortal. Damon says no, I'm not risking my chance with Elena. She says we give him the cure, he's mortal, then someone drains him and makes him dust! Damon says that cure is our one and only dose. She admits Bonnie's plan for Enzo. He's not happy. She says Elena would want to save all of us. I've done the math. It can work. He says what makes her so sure. She says It's about using what we've got. Unless you have a plan D. He doesn't. Bonnie's not going to like this.
**Yeah, no risk here.......blood from Elena, into Cade, Enzo drains Cade, then Damon would have to drink from Enzo to be with Elena. Oy.
Damon on the phone with Bonnie. She says might be isn't convincing. He says if there's another plan, he's all ears. She doesn't, but.... She doesn't want the risk. Damon isn't happy she was going to give Enzo the cure without telling him. Bonnie wanted to put herself first. Damon knows this is his fault, but this is the situation now. He'd love for everyone to be happy. Asks if she's with him. She says fine, we'll put everyone first except ourselves again and hangs up on him. Enzo listened to it all.
Caroline gives Dorian a drink with her blood if he's interested. Dorian got into the supernatural because his family thought they were cursed. His dad and little sister died in a house fire. He hid at the library to cope. Then had the strangest dream. Playing baseball and my sister was in the stands. She smiled and waved at me, and I knew they were somehow okay. Then he wanted to know how he knew. So, occult studies. Cade comes in and starts killing people! Matt tries to douse the flames. Cade says those of you that feel yourselves to be good people may be excused. Matt leads them out. Dorian and Caroline stay. Damon comes in behind him. Micromanager. Cade says you can end this now with one particular soul. She asks why me? Cade says you're important to Stefan. Stefan chose to kill Elena. Headed to New York without blinking an eye. Dorian considering the drink. Damon grabs a woman and kills her. Dorian drops the drink. Caroline gets Dorian out. Cade says that woman's soul was no use to me. You have 97 to go. Damon wants Cade to stop Stefan. Cade says Your quota is separate from your brother's task. You made your choice and he made his. The time for deals is over. Now get back to work.
**Oh no.........what does that woman have to do with Stefan's mission? Has she been Elena's guardian?
Damon outside. Caroline wants to come and he leaves her behind. She calls Stefan. He answers.
He's passing the time while his new friend does the paperwork. As soon as she signs on the last dotted line.
Elena's in Bonnie's house. Oh no, Stefan's changing the deed! Bonnie says were so close. It's right here, and we can't have it. Enzo hugs her. I never get to have my chance. Always do the right thing for everyone else. He asks if she wants to keep the cure. She says no. But it sucks. He'll be by her side whatever happens. He'll still be in love with her. Cook dinner in this kitchen, dance by the fire. I'll watch you grow old and gray and you'll be as beautiful then as you are now. I don't need the cure to be happy. Just need you.
The woman is now the owner of Bonnie's house! Enzo is banished outside. Stefan says one more thing, will you do me a favor and invite me in?
**How did Cade know about Bonnie's house and Elena being in it and to find this woman and.......? Cade hasn't been on Earth THAT LONG. He got this info overnight? From who? Where? Was Bonnie dumb enough to put the house in her real name as public record? Or did he read it from her head when he was behind her in the coffee house? That has to be it.
Mopping up blood in the bar. Caroline sent the last guy home. Matt's pissed off. Caroline doesn't need his judgment. Matt is being honest. I'm hanging on by a thread. This town is. It's not the place we grew up in. She says it's exactly the town we grew up in. Adults hid it, and we're the adults now. Matt is cruel again and she leaves again. Matt sits with Dorian. Dorian says the last message is in a different language. Needs to take it to the library. Gives Matt another Maxwell heirloom, a pendant. Dorian is going back to the Armory.
Stefan and Damon on the phone. Stefan says Elena's in upstate New York. Where Bonnie hid her. We work for a psychic. Cade read her mind. I tracked down her realtor.
Bonnie tries to invite Enzo in. Nope. He tells her to get the Cure and we need to go.
Damon pleads with Stefan. Take your anger out on me. Stefan says I am. I'll be there in 5 minutes.
Bonnie has the coffin open. Picks up the syringe.
Damon says you don't have to do this to Cade. Stefan says I'm doing this for me. Damon says you don't have to take care of me ever again. I'll take care of both of us. Stefan says no, you can't. I want to cause her death so you'll finally stop trying to save me. Damon begs him. Stefan says she's coming between us and it's stupid. She's a stupid human girl. So easy to kill. Something symbolic, like a bathtub. Full circle. I can kill her and I can't wait.
Enzo pacing. Bonnie says this is so weird. How much should I take? Does the cure have a minimum dosage? Stefan ripped Enzo's heart out!!! OMG. Bonnie grabs wood. He grabs her wrist. She stabs Stefan with the syringe! OMG! She runs to Enzo. He's gray and veiny. She screams his name. Screams and there's a shockwave.
OMG.
Next ep - Final 5 episodes ever. Bonnie prepares Enzo's burial. Damon needs a plan to kill the Devil.
