“Next of Kin”
DC CHARACTER ONYX VISITS STAR CITY — A rogue black ops team led by Onyx (guest star Chastity Dotson) breaks into Kord Industries and steals something lethal. Oliver (Stephen Amell) struggles to connect with William (guest star Jack Moore) so he reaches out to a surprising source for help. Kevin Tancharoen directed the episode written by Speed Weed & Oscar Balderrama (#603). Original airdate 10/26/2017.
The Arrow title card for Season 6 is new as of last week. As Team Arrow is an important part of the show now, each member of the team is represented by a symbol.

Episode 3:
Rooftop. Green Diggle. Dinah spots the bad guy. She helps John cross between buildings. Rough landing. John shot at. Engages the bad guys. Chasing the demo guy. John knocks him out. Curtis asks if they should call him the Green Arrow. John says it's weird, but we have to get used to it.
Bunker. John isn't firing off arrows. Felicity and Curtis are working on it. Dinah talks to John again about the tremor. He says it's handled.
Oliver made scrambled eggs. William says this is for real for real? you're not the other guy? Oliver says it is. William has math at the end of the week. I'll be lucky to get a C. Oliver says it's okay to get them once in a while. I got E's.
Mayor's office. William's stressing over a test and I feel I made it worse. Quentin doesn't know how he would've parented alone. But you'll figure it out. FBI woman in the office. faust arrested by the Green Arrow. They noticed no arrows were used. You're sending a message to police of this city they can't do their job without vigilante help. Glad I don't work for you. She leaves. Quentin says she's not long. About undercutting the cops.
Tech server room. There's a woman. Security surrounds her. Lights blind them. They're unconscious. She uses one's hand to get past the scanner.
**Justice League promo! I have tickets for Nov 16.
CSu on site. Kord Industries again. Company doesn't know what was taken, yet. Curtis guides Dinah to a port. Felicity leaves him to work while she's on the start-up.
Quentin calls. Anti-vigilante legislation. Oliver says no. Find another way. Please. Knocks. At Felicity's. Belly Burger. AWKWARD. He asks to come in. Love what you've done with the place..... It's her office. Oracle nixed. Bit by Bit nixed. She asks about William. He says 2 steps forward, 1 step back. Thea has a knack for this sort of thing. Felicity offers help. He says William is stressing over a math test and I keep making it worse. She says you told him to relax, I would've been psyched to get C's.... How did you know? She says I didn't need to relax, I needed to know how to do the work. Ask him what he needs and he'll show you. He says you make things so simple. Always did. Curtis called. No wonder Kord is secretive. Kord made a new nerve gas. She says meet up in 1 hour. Oliver tells her to go.
Semi. Driver and security bicker. Turn the radio on. Green Arrow says it's not safe on the road. My team's more equipped. Diggle rides in the cab. You have horrible taste in music. The engine stops. He gets out. Ignition blocker. Woman from before shoots. Diggle down. She goes to the back. She tosses her flashy light things. Goons deal with the team. She steals the truck. Team gets to their feet. Rene asks Diggle what to do. Make a decision! Rene runs after it. So do Curtis and Dinah. Truck explodes!!! Rene says I couldn't get to it in time. Curtis says not your fault.
Felicity asks what happened. Rene says Diggle froze. He asks about casualties. Rene yells at him. Diggle says I don't know. Never happened to me before. Dinah says we close ranks and move on. Diggle says thanks. Won't happen again. Felicity says you get another shot. A group that got 100 million in gold. Why would they steal nerve gas? John gives out orders. Then apologizes. Dinah says when I said move on, that meant you, too.
News about the incident. Oliver asks staff for a big box of coffee. Quentin says being the Green Arrow involves a learning curve. The anti-vigilante legislation is coming to the council. Oliver tells him to make sure she doesn't have the votes.
John thanks Dinah for having his back. I was surprised. She said it because this team needs a leader. Okay. She's worried about his head. He knows. Every time I gave orders before, there was someone backing my plays. I'm not used to making calls on my own. No one's more disappointed in me than me. She says get it right. Everyone's counting on it. Felicity has info. Onyx staged terror attacks. Wiping out defectors. This gas would cause mass casualties.
Oliver to William. How's it going? Fine. Anything I can do to help? Quadratic equations? Oliver says they're vaguely familiar. Doorbell. Rene. this is about John. It's not working out. Something a hell of a lot worse than last night. That nerve gas? It could kill thousands. Oliver believes in John. Rene says He can't handle it. He's over his head. We're lucky no one died last night. Luck runs out. We need you to come back.
Felicity trying to find the bad guys. Oliver enters. He says William needs a tutor. She was a 3-time math champion. She'll have Curtis cover. Good grief, awkward again. Oliver finds John brooding. role reversal. john says I think you made a mistake. Who came to you, Rene? Oliver lies. Maybe I asked too much of you. You have JJ and Lyla. It doesn't seem fair... John says no. I don't know how you never hesitated to make the call. Oliver says I was never sure. Not once. It was instinct and fear. You'll work past it, too. You'll make mistakes. You'll lose strangers. Some won't be. You're one of the main reasons the Green Arrow even exists. You convinced me to look past The List. You helped me find a hero. The idea of this exists because you had faith in me. Now have that faith in yourself. you can be a better leader, a better hero, than I ever was.
Onyx addresses her team. I need your resolve. Tonight Reynolds gets his. She's not worried about the threat of the Green Arrow. Move out.
Felicity and William. Why can't I some for X? You will, in high school. You see how useful math can be, which means you're good at it. William says Oliver said school isn't that relevant in the real world. She says that's because Oliver grew up in the not-real world. William used to love school. She says you will again. Promise. William wants her to tutor more. Oliver says it's totally cool. Brought Monte Christos. That's how we do it in the not-real world. heh. She leaves for the bunker. William, you're awesome. Says she's pretty cool. Oliver agrees.
Team assembled in bunker. Hotel. Diggle says let's move out. Curtis says is that his version of suit up? LOL. Dinah asks Rene if he can handle this. Rene confesses he asked Oliver to return. She says he didn't, so that should tell you something. Rene worried they'll have another bad night.
Hotel. Bad guys on mission. team Arrow invades. Flash things active. Onyx sets off the gas! Reynolds runs. Arrow, what do we do? Handle the gas. We got Reynolds, move! Dinah and Curtis take care of the gas. Rene takes care of a bad guy. Diggle after Reynolds. Curtis and Dinah need a way to neutralize the gas.
Onyx gets to Reynold's car. Dig attacks her. Reynolds dodging their fight. Now they're in the car. Interesting to film the fight from inside the car when it's taking place outside of it. Diggle finally knocks her out. Then takes care of Reynolds. Who the hell are you? I'm the Green Arrow.
Curtis gives orders. Ignite the gas. Gas dispersed. All civilians accounted for. Rene asks Dig what next. Diggle gives orders. Rene will follow his lead. Diggle smiles.
Champagne. No victory dance. Never will. Rene goes to Diggle. He knows he went to Oliver. I know you, Rene. I know all of you. Felicity and Curtis made a Green Monster. It shoots arrows instead of crossbow bolts. Diggle shoots tennis balls with it. All of them. that aim is pure John Diggle. Dinah says nice. Steady. you were wrong about one thing, though. You can make the hard calls on your own just fine.
Oliver in the office. Quentin comes in. Your friends did good last night. Council will pass it. Oliver says there has to be something we can do. Matter of fact.....
They go to the council meeting. Oliver addresses them. He says my intention was not to support the vigilantes over the police. The police can't do their work if they are busy hunting vigilantes. He invokes Chapter 9. A city-wide referendum. Make the people vote on it.
FBI woman watches the news. Who are you protecting? Diggle is on her board.
Oliver goes to Felicity. She's in pajamas? He gives her a gift. William got an A. She's happy. Can you believe he's your son? Then she babbles. You have amazing abs-- I', going to open this. He says it's a key to my apartment. She says won't it confuse William? It's confusing for me. He says I know we agreed William has a lot to process, but I saw you with him, and I became 100% sure his life will be better with you in it. Just like mine. She asks if he's sure. He is. They kiss.
An exchange. Injection. No more tremor. What is John injecting himself with????
Next ep - Siren with short dark hair! A wig. They have to go after her again. She quips that Green Arrow looks different and she just can't put her finger on it. Heh.
Next Thursday, I'll be at first night showing of Thor 3: Ragnarok, so posting will be slightly delayed.
