"The Rising Son"
WHAT EVIL THIS WAY COMES… — Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) begin to explore what Jack (Alexander Calvert) is capable of doing with his powers. An unexpected visit from Donatello (guest star Keith Szarbajka) alerts the boys to the fact that Jack will need more protection than the Winchesters can provide. There is a new Prince of Hell in town, Asmodeus (guest star Jeffrey Vincent Parise), and with Lucifer (Mark Pellegrino) out of the picture, he sets his sights set on Jack. Episode 2:
Impala. Jack asleep. 12 hours to home. Sam offers to drive. Losing Mom and Cas is a lot of process on no sleep. Dean says you know how this plays out. We try to bend the rules, and people we care about get hurt. This time, let's do the obvious. Sam says the problem might be our only shot at saving Mom.
Lucifer. And Mary. He wants her to pick up the pace. She doesn't see the point. You're going to kill me. He says why? Oh, right, because I'm evil. I don't want you dead because I need you alive. In a perfect world, yeah, but life isn't fair. I'll exchange you for my son. You have no idea what I care about. Bomb. What the hell? Mary?
Hell. No trace of Lucifer. Or the son. Asmodeus says the son is not an infant. He lives, I know it. I want him found and trained to rule, with me as his humble adviser, of course. Drexel will continue to search for Lucifer, or he'd be upset. Asmodeus pulls him forward. I KNOW the perils of Lucifer's disappointment. His facial scars. He freed Hell's most savage. Thought he could train them. Lucifer locked them up again. The pain, total humiliation, forged an eternal bond between us. I am his to command as you are mine. Write that down.
Sam and Dean stop as a motel. Dean was hallucinating sheep. Sam says you need a few hours. Jack discovers a Scooby Doo cartoon. It's wonderful! Dean turns the TV off and tells him to take the couch. We're out of here in a few hours. Tossed him a Bible. Sam offers.... Jack says no, it's fine.
Jack eating. Dean keeps looking at him. Slow down. It won't disappear. Sam says ever see you eat, Dean? Jack opens a beer. Like they did. Jack's mimicking Dean. The book mentions Lucifer. And you knew him? Well, he's not easy to know. Dean says he's Satan. And that's bad.... Damn straight. Dean says he turned on his father, God. Jack asks about God. Sam says God created everything. Jack says God is my grandfather and family, that's good. Sam says Kelly taught you things, but what else can you do? Jack doesn't know. Sam suggests being somewhere else....could you? Dean says can you teleport? What would you do to be on the other side of that door? Jack opens and closes the door. Then knocks. Sam says it's possible he's more human than we thought. Jack says like that. Grins. Aww. Dean asks if Lucifer ever reached out before you were born. Jack gets a flash of Lucifer in the chair. Didn't like it.
Someone in the hall.
Sam suggests rest. They hear the floor creak outside. Dean goes to the door. Grabs the old man and hauls him in. Donetello. Is God with you?
Donetello has no soul thanks to Amara, but he's okay. Ask myself, what would Mr. Rogers do? Dean asks why are you here? In Wyoming? Donetello wanted to retire, but he's knocked off his feet by this wave of power. Something new and fresh. I was drawn to it. It's here. Right here. It's....you. I'm Jack. Jack's a Nephilim. Lucifer. Donetello is a prophet. Donetello stands. Waves of power, so intense. Fascinating. Your power is nothing like your father's. Not dark or toxic. Sam says Jack needs protection.
Take him to a tattoo parlor. Sam says we're brothers, it's like a family crest. Dean says you're way too attached to this kid. Sam says his powers can be used for good. The tattoo artist gets tossed when it hurts. Dean says man up and deal with it! Jack understands. Accepting pain is a sign of maturity. Back to work on Jack's tattoo. Two of them on his chest. They absorb into Jack's skin.
A woman - demon spies on them.
Discussing Jack. Jack says I'm right here, you know. Dean and Sam arguing. Sam says we can teach him to not be evil. Donetello says it's like asking a lion to not be a lion. Dean says he's the freaking Devil!
And Jack is gone. Cowered in a corner. Remembering Kelly talking to him. Sam finds him outside. We've been looking for you. Jack apologizes. Everyone was so angry. Sam says you wanted to be away from it. Jack says suddenly I was. Sam sits with him. You just need to get a grip so you don't hurt somebody. Jack thinks Dean hates him. Sam explains Dean doesn't hate you. He mixes fear and frustration with anger. He thinks it's his job to protect everyone. Right now, we need to protect you....and people from you. Jack wonders if he's worth it. Sam says your mother thought so, and Cas, and me.
Dean in the bar. Bartender chats him up. Dean pays and takes walk. The real woman is dead. Asmodeus can change his appearance!
A knock. Donetello. Sam put Jack with him. Donetello says he's an interesting kid. Do you have any idea how powerful he'll get to be? Sam doesn't. But there's written that a Nephalim will get more powerful than the angel that sired him. Jack is bonded to Kelly. Only a fuzzy link to his dad. So I think he can be molded. Donetello says I hope you're right.
Mary discovered by a man. I'm a hunter. He doubts it. Come here. You don't walk like an angel. Not a demon neither. She says I told you. He's never met a female hunter. Not many women since the wars began. She says I got attacked by a fireball. He says angels always take shots. Offers to help. Grabs her. Lucifer rips his heart out before she gets shot. You're welcome. What's wrong with you? We need each other. This is win-win. We both get our boys back. She says you think I want you to win? He insists.
Dean wants to get on the road. Sam says we'll be on the road a long time, right? If you and I are going to do this, we have to be on the same page. Dean says we're not. Sam knows what's going on here. After everything we've gone through, lost people we love, I get it, but we've been rock bottom before and we find a way. We fix it because it's what we do. Jack wants to do the right thing, but he's afraid of what he is and he's afraid of you. Donetello comes in. You were just here. No I wasn't. I was grabbing breakfast burritos extra spicy. Jack's gone!
(I knew that was Asmodeus the first time! Donetello wasn't right.)
Sam wonders what he talked to. Donetello senses Jack. Dean will get the gear. He's attacked. Demon. Sam kills it. Guess the word's out. Donetello? Dean kills another demon. Housekeeping is not going to like this. LOL.
Asmodeus and Jack in the middle of nowhere. Masquerading as Donatello still. You must train yourself to use your gifts to use your gifts. How? Hell. Doesn't sound nice. Asmodeus tells him God wants you to set the Shadeem free and be a hero. I can do that? And so much more. Do it for God! Focus! Try harder, boy!
Impala racing. Donatello is sensing other power. Jasper, Wyoming? It's something dark. Sam says a Gate to Hell. Leads to a place where unimaginable evil emits from creatures to evil for the Pit to hold.
Lucifer bitching at Mary. Sorry you're tired! Soldiers show up. Angels. Identify yourself! I'm Lucifer. False, false, false. Lucifer was killed by the Archangel Michael. Lucifer turns them all into smoke. Fire bomb lands. Come on! New angel arrives. Michael. You should be dead. Lucifer asks who are you and what spaghetti western did you walk out of? Michael says don't you know me, Brother?
Asmodeus cheering that the gate is opening. Jack says it's working. Something with claws is crawling out. Impala arrives. Sam yells at Jack to stop. Dean shoots Asmodeus. Sam says Jack he's a demon! Asmodeus attacks them. Jack seals the pit. Asmodeus offers the world. Jack says you're hurting my friends! Asmodeus leaves. The guys are no longer choking.
Michael confused. Lucifer says alternate universes, interdimensional travel...it's her fault. He finds this Michael lacking. They slug it out. Michael breaks Lucifer's bones. Maybe I need you.
Bunker. Sam and Dean. Hope the 4th prince of Hell is the last Kardashian in the family. Sam says Asmodeus is the last of the line. Jack saved us. Dean says it was reflex. A sneeze. Maybe next time he kills us. Goodnight. Dean walks the halls. Hearing.... Jack stabbing himself over and over and over. Dean takes the knife. Don't be an idiot! This won't do anything to you, and b, what the hell? Jack says exactly. What am I? I can't control whatever this is. I will hurt someone. Dean says my brother thinks you can be saved. But you don't. No I don't. Jack says so, if you're right.... If I'm right....and it comes to killing you? I'll be the one to do it. Dean leaves the room.
