"Lost Canary"

BIRDS OF PREY; CAITY LOTZ GUEST STARS — After being accused of murder and having her criminal past exposed, Laurel (Katie Cassidy Rodgers) goes full Black Siren and teams up with an old criminal acquaintance, Shadow Thief (guest star Carmel Amit), to go on a crime spree around Star City. While Dinah (Juliana Harkavy) aims to bring Laurel in, Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) refuses to give up on her friend and tries everything to get through to her, even summoning Sara Lance (guest star Caity Lotz) for help. However, Laurel rebuffs all her efforts, forcing the former friends to face off against each other. Kristin Windell directed the episode written by Jill Blankenship & Elisa Delson (#718). Episode 18:

Black Siren enters a thug filled office building. She takes them out to get to Shadow Thief.

Shadow training. Laurel says that power suit didn't really fit. She can only trust herself. At least Diaz introduced us before he died. I'm looking for a partner. And I need someone with your particular set of skills. Laurel's phone rings. She mutes it.

Felicity calling Laurel again. French fires, milkshakes, and really cold fruit craving. She's left many messages. Please call me back. Archer's not online. Oliver says her whole life has been flipped upside down. She doesn't want to be found. I know what that's like. Felicity brings up Emiko. Oliver thinks Emiko is not lying about her mother. If John and I can find the killer.... She says bring Rene for backup. He says rene has a school thing with Zoe. Felicity is going to Netflix binge and eat everything in the fridge.

Future. Helmeted guy looking for vigilantes. Zoe and Mia are targets. Galaxy One has raided all safe houses. All Canaries are in danger. Mia wants to finish the guy. Zoe says you'll get us both killed.

Laurel on the news. SCPD issued warrant for her arrest. Felicity tells Dinah that's harsh. Dinah says her fingerprints were all over the scene. Felicity keeps defending Laurel. Dinah says she's Black Siren, a ruthless murderer, and we fool ourselves to think she's anything like the real Laurel Lance. We're going to bring her to justice.

Black Siren at a dry cleaner. Shadow Thief stabs him. They find the cache under the floor.

**Sure didn't take much for Dinah to turn on E2 Laurel, even before the deaths, but it came out of nowhere. This Black Siren turn comes out of nowhere. All the effort to redeem the character and now this? Arrow, do you have any clue what subtlety and moderation is?

Arrow bunker. Felicity says Emiko killed the guy. Ninth Circle poison. Emiko framed Laurel. Dinah says it doesn't change anything. She's back to Black Siren. She took over $100,000 and has a partner. Laurel's case load is how she's got the jobs to hit.

Spartan and Green Arrow enter an apartment. Diggle goes through a chest of drawers. Then finds a hollow cache. It's Bear. Oliver shoots him in the back with a tranq arrow. What is Longbow doing mixed up in the murder? Good question.

Felicity busts into Laurel's webcam. It's not too late to not go over to the Dark Side. What happened to you isn't fair. You are not Black Siren anymore. Think of all the good you've done. Think of honoring Quentin. And you were there for me when I needed a friend. Laurel says it was all just an act. Don't you dare try and stop me.

Future. Galaxy One expanding their mission. How many Canaries have we lost? 10 confirmed. Dinah grieving. It was my responsibility. Mia and Zoe return. Mia complains. Dinah says we need to lay low. Zoe says we mourn our dead and figure out a plan that doesn't cost more lives. Mia wants to fight back. If you don't, we're all dead.

Black Siren and Shadow Thief kill security guards. Break into a safe. Diamonds. Black Canary is there to stop them. Laurel says too bad you don't have your cry anymore. White Canary blasts them. But I still have mine. Sara has the sonic cry on a bracelet. I know you're not my sister, but you could've been, and my father believed in you. Laurel says you're right about one thing - you're not my sister. Chick fight! Dinah gets Shadow down. Siren beats the other two and she and Shadow escape. Stay the hell away from me.

**Network of Canaries is an interesting concept. Wonder how and when Dinah started it in the future, and did she train them all herself? Was it a way of giving girls off the street a greater purpose?

SCPD. Felicity comes to Dinah. Felicity modified the collar for Sara. Dinah says you can't think Laurel is capable of redemption after what we just saw. Everything that happened since she was fired is on her. Felicity says you feel guilty. Dinah says you need to drop the blinders. Felicity brought a dossier on Shadow Thief.

Pouring wine. You need this. Don't worry, there are plenty of jobs. Shadow says your jobs are small potatoes. I've met very powerful friends. Mercenary with perks. I want to make sure you're the same ruthless Black Siren I knew. Laurel says you don't have to worry. They get in our way again, I'll kill them myself.

Oliver and Diggle pressuring Bear to reveal who hired him to kill Emiko's mother. He found an old coin. Microchip inside with instructions. Then they wired my payment from Switzerland. Oliver says this is Dante. Let's go. We got what we came for.

Sara doing the salmon ladder. Felicity returns to the bunker. Deja vu. They banter and hug. Laurel will come around. We just have to get her away from her new BFF. Sara's got time to save her real sister's name. Felicity tells her why she wants to save Laurel. I want to give her a lifeline. Sara says she has to want it. You can't force redemption on people. Dinah got a location for Shadow Thief's hideout. Shady warehouse off the grid. And Sara's not invited.

Felicity wants White Canary with them. 2 heat signatures behind this door. Dinah busts in. And the room is empty. Played us. Bomb! They hide behind a steel table. Laurel tried to kill us!

**Except the bomb would've gone off the second they entered if Laurel truly wanted them dead. She knows how to assassinate when she wants to.

Bunker. Dinah apologizes to Sara. Felicity thought Laurel had changed. Dinah says we're lucky she's rusty. Sara points out it's not luck. I'm going to get some air. Let me know if you find something. Dinah tells Felicity that Laurel is the same monster that killed Vinny. Felicity says she's on this path and doesn't know how to get off it. We had your back, we gave you a second chance. You couldn't have imagined this is where you'd end up. Dinah doesn't think Laurel wanted that support. Felicity says maybe she wanted it more than any of us and didn't know until it was gone.

Future Dinah and Mia. Mia's arming up. Mia pushes to take the fight to Galaxy One. Make them pay for blood with blood. Dinah started the Canaries for a support system for women to know we have each other's backs. She promised herself to never fail a friend again. That's why we wear these. These women always find the strength to get up and fight again. When the time is right. She tosses the canary symbol to Mia. Mia says too bad I'm not a Canary and tosses it back.

Oliver and John in the van. Oliver hopes the Dante knowledge will drive a wedge between Emiko and the Ninth Circle.

Sara finds Laurel at Quentin's grave. Nobody's as good as the original Laurel Lance, not even me. I had an affair with my sister's boyfriend. Allowed my family to believe I was dead. Then became a League assassin. Laurel says I was being a hero. And they still turned on me. Sara says redemption is a journey. I wasted years running from the bad things I'd done. Then I realized the only way to stop being that person was to come home and own up to the things I'd done. It was the only way to become better than I was. Laurel says it's a litte too late. This is who I am. She walks away.

Siren and Shadow. What's this weapon we're stealing? Shadow says Who cares? All that matters is we're getting paid.

**Poor naive Oliver. Still can't imagine his little sister is more than a pressured innocent. She's running the group, dude!

**Ah, what could've been if they'd written Laurel to be the leading lady Katie signed up for.

Siren and Shadow. They split up to check the building is empty. Sara confronts her. And Dinah. It's not too late, Laurel. Don't do this. Siren escapes. Finds the case. Felicity finds her. Do you know what Shadow Thief is planning to do with that device? It's going to be used to kill people. Siren tells her to move. No! Siren says this is who I am, do you not see that? Felicity keeps pushing. Siren says I want you to get out of my way. Felicity says then start with me. And Dinah and Sara. Shadow coming in. Siren cries at her. Shadow brought backup shooters. The Birds buy Felicity time to arm the device.

Birds taking down the mercs. Return to Felicity. Time to go. Overwatch, now! Armed and blows in 3 2 1. They got outside right before it did. Dinah says we're only as strong as we are together. "Birds of justice." LOL.

**Birds of Prey. I liked that show. It had potential.

Toasting. And to Laurel. Dinah apologizes. Laurel wishes they got Shadow Thief. Dinah won't arrest her. You went undercover and didn't kill the criminal. Felicity says everything can go back to normal. Laurel says it can't. It's time to go home. The only way to right my wrongs is to go back to where it all started. She takes Felicity's glass before she drinks. Dinah gets buzzed by SCPD. Felicity gives Dinah the cry bracelet. Sara wanted her to have it. Laurel says you are welcome. Did it all the time when my sister was pregnant. Hmmm. Felicity giving her Laurel's Black Canary costume. She hugs her.

Felicity returns home. Oliver is on the sofa. He's exhausted. makes room for her. She already ate. You found Laurel and said goodbye already? Yeah. Dinah and Sara. Like Charlie's Angels. She gives him her foot.

Cemetery again. Sara and Laurel. Quentin always saw the good in me when no one else did. Wish I could tell him how much it meant to me. Sara says you're not alone, not anymore.

Future. Canary down. Mia tries to get him. And she's punching a wall.He pulls a gun. Then a canary cry blasts him. It's Laurel! More Canaries show up. You're lucky we got here when we did. Give the helmet to Felicity. You look so much like her. You may not be a Canary, but you have a long way to go to prove you're a hero. Take it from someone who knows how hard it can be. Don't screw it up.
