“You Have Saved This City”
FAMILY TIES — The battle between Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Emiko (Sea Shimooka) comes to a boiling point which brings back some familiar faces and leaves others in dire jeopardy. James Bamford directed the episode written by Beth Schwartz & Rebecca Bellotto (#722). Original airdate 5/13/2019.
Episode 22:
The enemy is still out there. Talk to Sgt. Bainsley! He's unconscious in an ambulance right now. So Team Arrow escapes.
Felicity in the bunker. Team Arrow returns. John says Emiko has a bigger ax to grind against any of the previous villains. Felicity is blocked. Laurel and Curtis arrive for backup.
Future - You are all under arrest. Felicity Smoak Tech restraints. Mia fights back. They fight against the ARCHER goons. But there's an ally in one of the suits. Connor Hawke. You're welcome.
Rene and William. Rene says they'll remake Star City in the Glades' image. It will be a bloodbath. Zoe in the elevator. Saves them.
Curtis loves a good reunion. Oliver thinks he can break the cycle of violence. He wants to help Emiko redeem herself. John says there's a bomb threat at a shopping center. People will evacuate into the plaza outside.
this will get messy. Oliver says it's what Emiko wants. We need to get people clear and find the device now! Dinah fights with the cops. Bronze Tiger slugs a guy. he's trying to save you, dumbass. Questions later. How can I help? Clear a path.
Drones come out and start spraying people. They fall screaming. Oliver asks if he can shoot them down. Curtis says you need to freeze them. Felicity said it worked. It's contained. Oliver says not fast enough as they look at a dead body.
**Eww, people look melted.
News about the attack says the heroes committed it. Tiger on parole and in the bunker. Laurel says Oliver is right. Emiko did me a favor. I don't want to live like Black Siren. Maybe Emiko can realize that, too. Curtis says Emiko has a lot of Cygnus left. He made a portable freezing device to contain the drones. Rene needs to get Zoe safe. John says Lyla can pick her up. And Tiger's son. New plan. No one die!
Future - We have to disable ARCHER. Rene says the server is the wall outside the Glades. Felicity says Mia's not in the system. William says it could be the break we're waiting for. Alena brings up the checkpoint between Star City and the Glades. The kids can go there and get a virus in.
Containment chamber worked. Oliver, Tiger, and John out there. Felicity says we just got 15 new targets. They're linked to the same detonator. It's at PalmerTech. Oliver says call the team.
Emiko told the Circle is concerned. The plan was to profit on Star City. The extra chaos isn't necessary. She says chaos is the point. The Circle disagrees. Your personal vendetta has drawn too much attention to us. She says she's their leader and her brother deserves to suffer like she suffered. And he will.
**Poor Queen Consolidated and PalmerTech. Left without their comic book leaders.
Oliver on site. Laurel and Rene on route. Penthouse is under construction. Curtis says the relay is somewhere nearby. Oliver tells them to find the device and evacuate the building.
Future - Felicity working on comms. She's worried about the kids. Rene says my girl is a grown-ass woman and one of the Canaries. She can handle herself. Felicity says I promised Oliver our kids would live normal happy lives. The only thing he asked me to promise and I failed. Kids hug and say goodbye. Roy gives Mia the bow and arrows.
Ninth Circle goons attack. John, Roy, and Tiger taking them out. Rene and cops arrive. Laurel and Dinah. Sgt. is awake and here. Told the others the truth. Team Arrow back in good graces. Now evacuate the building. John gets on comm. The building is still armed. Do you have Emiko?!
Oliver reaches her. She's been waiting for him.
**Showrunner said the last 10 minutes deal with why Felicity isn't in next season. 9:27PM.
Raining outside. Emiko says this was his view, wasn't it? I'm glad you'll get to see it all fall. Her button doesn't work. Oliver is giving her a second chance. She says she doesn't need bombs to kill him.
Mia and William and the others at the checkpoint. But they're seized. It didn't work. ARCHER is rebooting. We failed.
Emiko and Oliver fighting. Oliver was angry too. You let our father die! That made a ripple effect of loss and I wanted to kill you for all of it! But instead of finding the hero inside you, you went down a dark path that killed your mother. Together, we can be better. If you're going to kill me, do it. Ninth Circle goons arrive with the Circle.
Future - Zoe suggests destroying the wall. Rene says they can only be detonated in one of the towers. They have 4 minutes. Mia says she can do it.
Emiko says Beatrice doesn't have authority to be here. Emiko takes a blade. Ninth Circle doesn't answer to her anymore. Finish them.
Mia going in.
Oliver and Emiko trying to get out. Fighting through the Ninth Circle. Emiko attacks Beatrice. Oliver gets to a fallen Emiko.
Mia gets through the door. Set. William hacks in. Ready when she is. Mia says take care of Mom. She's already lost so much. Here goes nothing. She presses the button. William says you have 60 seconds. Get out of there!
Emiko says she's sorry. Oliver says it's okay. She says your family is going to die. I made sure of it. I wanted to be a Queen. She gasps and dies.
Mia fighting to get back out. Zetas are back online. William says you have 20 seconds. She jumps. Gets to the ground. Wall blows up.
Oliver dives out of a window as the building explodes. He lands, too.
**9:35. Future still keeps hinting that Oliver is dead and has been a long time.
Laurel says this is what it feels like to save a city. Oliver thanks her and shakes her hand. Rene says he's sorry about Emiko. Curtis to go back to DC and he's getting engaged. John offers Bronze Tiger a job with Lyla. But he just wants to get back to his son. Roy wants to atone for the murders. Oliver and Felicity are leaving the city. We can leave because the city is safe. My greatest legacy is this team. I was certain I'd end it alone, but every bit of success it because of all of you. 4 pillars of heroism. We should use that as a calling card or something. A code word? We should commemorate this.
Future - Star City is a wall free zone once again. Rene says this won't be easy. Glades has been isolated a long time. They're going to leave the city with the kids. The 4 of you having a future is worth any sacrifice. William asks How did Roy get on the island? It's a long story. Felicity says go ahead. She has one last thing to do for Oliver.
Bunker. Felicity asks Oliver if he's having second thoughts. No. She says me, neither. He wishes they could tell the team about the baby. But it puts them in the Ninth Circle's cross hairs. John says the spirit of this place will live on long after the way. A cycle of heroes fighting for this city with every fiber of their being. She says you always know what to say. Let's get you two to your new home. Felicity says goodbye, old friend. Bunker shuts down.
The cabin we saw in Mia's history. The neighborhood is Ex-CIA, ARGUS, etc. They're having a baby girl. Mia. John says that's beautiful. Focus on your family. She says you are part of that family, John. We love you. He loves them. He'll reach out later. She says maintain my bunker. No crumbs on the keyboard.
Oliver and Felicity live there. Give birth there. Raise Mia. Oliver falls asleep feeding her. felicity does miss the team, but this has been so much. Wish William were here. Him, too. They should talk to his grandparents about shared custody. There's a creak outside. Oliver grabs a knife. The Monitor shows up! Oliver thought he had more time.
One change requires another. Oliver is given the means to save them. Whatever the multiverse requires.
Oliver sets the knife down. What does the multiverse require? Assisting Monitor. He's seen Oliver's future. Watched him die. During this Crisis? Monitor is truly sorry. Felicity resists. Oliver says it's bigger than all of us. Monitor says he can prevent the deaths of countless more. But he needs to come with me tonight.
Mom? You okay? William and Mia meet Felicity one last time. You two don't need my protection anymore. Mia says we still want you in our lives. She promised to protect them until they didn't need her. Your father would be so proud. It's time to go on a journey of my own. I love you so much. Promise you'll take care of each other, okay? Oliver Queen's tombstone says he dies in 2019.

Felicity crying. This is why we can't have a normal life. Our children will never have normal lives. Oliver had to make the deal. She says there will always be a threat. He says make me a promise. No matter what happens to me. No matter what. You need to do everything in your power to keep William and Mia safe. She will. But whatever happens to you, you'll never leave me. On our wedding day, you told me I was the best part of you, but we're the best parts of each other. That's so much bigger than the freaking universe. He's crying. I didn't think I deserved love. You opened my heart in ways I didn't know possible. I have no regrets. Tell her I loved her every day. They kiss after more love and promises. Hug. Wipe tears. He walks away.
Felicity on a road in the rain. I'm ready. The Monitor taking her where there's no return. She says she's ready. They enter a portal.
