Angela wakes tied to a chair in a basement. And hooked to a blood bag. Her blood is dripping into a cage for a monster. She screams.
Beer bottles on Dean's shelf. He's looking for cases on his phone. Anything, anything......well hello. My friend was raptured while I was drunk. Heh.
Sam and Eileen cooking breakfast. Dean asks if that's real bacon? Are you two hungover? Margaritas last night. Dean knew he liked Eileen. He's leaving. Sam offers to come. Dean says no. Stay, eat. It smells terrific. Dean is going to take a drive and clear his head. He doesn't want to spoil the fun. Teases Sam about Eileen. Sam says we're looking for Chuck and Lilith.
Sam returns to the kitchen. She asks if Dean is okay. Sam says Dean going out is progress.
Dean arrives in Texhoma. Meets the sheriff. Looking for Angela Sullivan. Sheriff says her car is gone. She left on her own. This is a small town. Her parents passed a few years ago. She talked about getting on competition shows. Wanted to go to L.A. They usually last about a week before coming home. Dean asks why the friend reported her missing. Sheriff tells Dean to give showbiz a shot. You got the look.
Song! Swayze's. Christian Kane singing. Dean enters the bar. Nice place. Lady says best beer and wings in the world. Hand over your cellphone. Alright. Dean says he's looking for someone. Sally Anderson. She's not here yet, but she'll show up. The brunette slaps his ass. Dean spots the singer. Son of a bitch. Dean frickin Winchester. They hug. His friend owns the joint. Still hunting, huh? He calls Lorna over to get a couple beers for him and Dean. They're going to celebrate and catch up. Dean says you own the place! Sound good!
Eileen and Sam researching. We need a break. She suggests something fun. Ideas? A few. Sam touches her hand. They're closer.....and then Cas opens the door. Sam asks where have you been? I've been calling and texting. Sam introduces her to Cas. She was dead. I got better. Heh. Sam says Dean went to clear his head. We've been looking for Chuck and Lilith. Cas says you're looking in the wrong places. Your wound is not healed? Good. I've been thinking about the gun. It fired a piece of your soul. There may be some of you inside Chuck.
Dean's friend asks about John. He died. 13 years ago. Doing what he loved. Dad always liked you. Never seen anybody better in a fight. High praise from my old man. They toast John Winchester. Dean hasn't seen him since Sam was in college. Thought you were dead. Friend says you remember that cult thing in Arizona? I did one more case after that, here, and decided that life wasn't for me anymore. Scrounged up what I could and bought this place. Ever regret giving up the life? Not once.
Cas wants to probe the wound and see if it can lead to Chuck. Eileen is nervous about that. Cas says it will sting. He starts. Asks Sam if he's okay. Then Sam launches backward and is unconscious.
Cas trying to call Dean's phone. Sam is hurt....where are you?
The phone is still in the basket. Dean telling stories with his friend. 3 bottles of Jaeger and triplets. Lorna flirting with Dean.
Castiel calls Sergei. I need your help. Sam Winchester's hurt. This would is divine. You owe me. Sergei says this weekend, I am with my niece. Cas says if you don't help me tonight, I'll find you and burn you alive. Cas hangs up. Then calls another number. Hello? No. I need a favor.
Dean talking about ghost sickness. The cat that scared the hell out of him. Finally remember the missing girl. Recognize her? Friend says no. Lorna says it's Angela. She's in here all the time. Doesn't drink much but her friend is a fish. Friend thinks Dean would be onto bigger cases than missing persons. Dean says you have to look after the little guy. Been a rough decade. But that's a conversation for a different time. This is alright! Friend says you deserve a break, bro. Maybe two. Remember that old song your dad would play before taking us on a hunt? He goes up on stage and urges Dean to join him. OMG singing the Dukes of Hazzard theme song! Dean takes the second verse. Good ol Waylon Jennings. They get into the duet. Tipsy Dean sings better than sober Dean. Bar cheers. Then there's a girl that's being accosted by a guy. Roadhouse rules? Dean tells the men to leave. Then he and the owner toss them out through the windows. Still got it.
You alright, Sally? Sally Anderson? Yeah.....why?
Sergei arrives. Cas lets him in the bunker. What wonderful things you must have. Cas brings him to Sam. Eileen says help him, please. Sergei checks Sam. Small thing. Sam is dying.
Swayze's. Dean talking to Sally about Angela. Owner is making repairs. Sally says Angela was helping me to her car when I got sick and when I was done, she was gone. And the car, too? you can't rapture a car. It was a good car. the friend pulls Dean aside. Dean says something seems off here. Friend offers to work the case with him like old times. Where do you dump a car around here? Lorna says the wrecking yard. Friend insisted on the lake. Dean leaves for the yard.
Cas asks what do you mean he's dying? Sergei says most wounds want to be healed. But this wound goes down to his soul but also into the world. His soul is connected to someone somewhere. you probed and forced Sam's body to stretch. It's like a rubber band. If it's stretched too far too long, it snaps. Sam dies.
Dean at the wrecking yard. Lots of trucks and SUVs. Dean finds a likely car. Opens the trunk and Angela is dead inside. His friend pulls a gun on him from behind and knocks him out. Couldn't leave well enough alone, could ya?
**Yeah, it was feeling fishy as soon as Dean started talking to his old buddy about the missing girl. Dude isn't a good liar. If Dean was sober, he might've picked up on the sketchy vibe.
**I keep wanting to call him Lindsey but that's not the character's name here. LOL. Once an "Angel" fan, always an "Angel fan. Got to know Chris Kane from that universe. He sang on the show. Started the following for his music.
Nothing happening. Sergei says wait for it. Sam's body convulses. Sergei made it worse. Visions of Chuck talking to his sister. Sergei won't stop it unless he gets what he wants from Cas. Eileen threatens Sergei. Sergei says give me the key to death and he lives. The Men of Letters have a black key with a skeleton handle. It opens a door to Death's library. Cas says no. Shows Sergei a photo. Bobby's been watching her. If you don't cooperate, you know what happens.
Sergei heals Sam enough that Sam wakes. Eileen asks if he's okay? The wound is still there. Sergei says he's back so we're good. Cas says for now. Sergei says I like you like this, Castiel. It's very.......Russian.
Dean wakes up. In the basement on the chair Angela had been. Lee? Lee comes downstairs. What the hell are you doing, man? I don't know what's going on, but this is not you. Lee says not the old me. I wasn't kiddin' about Arizona. What that thing did to that family, those kids, it stuck in my head. Best we can do is have a little fun. Last case I did, I found something. Freaky looking little thing, isn't it? As long as you feed it, it gives you money, health, everything you dream of. Dean says on innocent lives? Lee says we know no one's innocent. Aren't we owed this? Don't we deserve some happiness? Dean says owed? Deserve? You're not God! Lee says look at the world. No one cares. Dean does. Lee says that's what got you here. It takes a while to drain a man. But don't worry. You lose a couple pints and you'll fall asleep. Then it'll be over. You know.... When you showed up, I knew you wouldn't leave it alone. You had to keep digging. Well, if it's you or me, then why not me, man? Lee leaves. Dean breaks out of the chair. The monster is pissed off about the blood supply ending.
**Finally had a Bobby reference this season. Can they employ Jim again and bring Alt World Bobby back, please? You have to have a Bobby in the final season.
Lee hears noises. Pulls his gun. The door opens. The monster's head gets tossed out. Dean enters the bar. Sorry about your friend. Lee starts shooting. Dean grabs a shotgun from under the bar. Now they're out of ammo. Dean says so. They appear to each other. Weapons on tables. You don't get to pretend we're still friends. I don't know you. Lee says I am you. I just woke up and saw the world is broken. Dean says then you fix it! Lee says pretend this never happened and walk out that door. Dean says he can't. Lee says you really want to do this? Dean does not. But I kill monsters. Lee says you want a shot at the title? Damn right I do. So they fight. Bar brawl! Dean gets Lee against a wall and stabs him with a broken pool cue. Why do you care so much, Dean? Because someone has to. Lee says Well, then....I'm glad it was you. He pats Dean, signaling. Dean pulls it out and Lee falls dead.
Dean comes home. I got your message. Sam? Cas says he's fine. Good. That's good. Yeah.
Sam feels like he was in Chuck's head. I saw his memories. Chuck is weak. I think we can beat him. I think we can beat God.
Next ep - Going after Chuck. And recruiting Adam.
