FAMILY IS A TRICKY THING, ON AN ALL-NEW EPISODE OF ABC'S 'MARVEL'S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.,' WEDNESDAY, JULY 29
"Stolen" - After Enoch's sacrifice propelled them out of the time storm, the team arrives back in 1983 where Nathaniel and Kora are hard at work building an army of hand-selected anarchist Inhumans at Afterlife. When the agents split up to cover more ground, Daisy is tasked with protecting Jiaying and is compelled to confront her mother for the first time since her death; while the others quickly learn they'll need to face yet another supercharged former enemy in order to stop Malick on "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," airing WEDNESDAY, JULY 29 (10:00-11:00 p.m. EDT), on ABC. The bar. 80s boombox. young man throws darts. Nathaniel asks for a challenge. Man wants to make a wager. Nathaniel needs a pilot on his team. You're headed for a very sad break-up. 7 years from now in the Balkans, you're lying there with your guts hanging out. You call for exfil and they refuse. Then you fall into the loving arms of HYDRA. He's not believed. Until he shows his power. Would you like a superpower? John Garrett orders 2 more beers.
Mack and Coulson and May. Mack's nostalgia for the 80s is gone. Roxy greets them. Coulson congratulates her for getting into the Academy. Rest of the team got in, too. She thinks it's cool he's not in the TV anymore. Triskellion wasn't in use in 1983. Ahead of schedule. Mack asks Coulson what he thinks. Coulson says we have to put the timeline back apart. They need to take the fight to Malick.
Jemma and Sousa and Daisy in the Lighthouse. He's impressed. Daisy asks why there was no new countdown. Jemma replies. Daisy understands. Sousa doesn't. He takes the bags to the bunks. Jemma likes that chivalry is not dead. Daisy asks what she remembers before Diana was put in. Jemma says I don't want to know. Daisy says you couldn't control yourself. You were devastated. Inconsolable. That's why I asked. Mack calls them to Control.
Coulson says we have to take Afterlife back. And protect Jiaying at all costs. We can't lose any more parents. We can minimize what we tell her. May starts to tell Daisy about Kora but Gordon and Jiaying teleport in. He's hunting us.
John wants to know how Nathaniel saw his future. The Time Stream. You'll get to dip your toe in. Dr. Grady isn't afraid of hazardous materials. SHIELD wanted him gone, so I rescued him. You'll meet Sybil. She'll guide you. She and I are after something, like you were. Immortality. Prepare yourself. Most people don't like the end. John in the machine.
Jiaying doesn't know who they are. You led that man to our front door. Daisy tells her he takes Inhumans' gifts. How is that possible? Jiaying unsure whether to trust them. YoYo says I got my power back, thanks to you. They can't let anyone go who has a power. Coulson will go. He's recyclable. Gordon will take him in somewhere secret then go. Mack agrees. Do recon, find the prisoners, then YoYo and I will go in. Jiaying wants to go, talk to Kora and reach her. But they convince her to stay. She says you have to bring back my daughter.
**Ooops. Surprise, Daisy. You have a big sister.
Daisy confronts May about this. May says Kora is volatile. She tried to kill your mother. It's possible Kora wasn't alive. She stole a gun and I think she intended to use it on herself but Nathaniel got to her. In the original timeline, she succeeded. Mack tells Daisy she's not going. We promised your mom we'd save Kora. May says if she can be saved.
Li is being drained. The process used to be messy. We found a better way. But it's still not painless. Kora is the one Inhuman they trust. Mercenary Durant was shot down by SHIELD. John asks what power is he getting? Nathaniel tells Kora to put Li out of his misery. Mercy comes in many forms. Li wishes he killed her long ago. She says she forgives him for believing that, then kills him. John wants a power like that. Nathaniel says you will as soon as we take it from SHIELD.
YoYo flying the Quinjet. Mack, Coulson, Gordon ready.
Deke with headphones on. Jemma finds him listening to music. Deke taking a look at the drive again. At least we're still alive, right? Jemma misses Enoch. Deke wants to know why it isn't communicating with Fitz. Jemma says maybe it never was. Zephyr could've been pre-programmed to follow the Chronicoms. Deke wonders why Fitz wouldn't help. Jemma wonders. I sent messages. No one's there. Deke insists Fitz is out there. We'll fix this and get back to him.
Quinjet lands. Mack gives them 30 minutes. No hero business. Gordon will take Coulson into a section that's usually empty.
They teleport. Coulson says he feels tingly. It's not unpleasant. Nathaniel comes in immediately. Take him to be prepped. You knew we were coming. To this very spot. Well, there was a 94% chance. Because you have the Time Stream.
Coulson says Sybil wants this planet for her Chronicoms. Nathaniel isn't impressed by the appeals. He has no use for his father's thinking. Say hello to anarchy. You'd be surprised how tempting that is to some people. Coulson brought to the room. Gordon in a chair next to Garrett. You vaporize me with a space laser. I'm not even mad. They let me watch you die a bunch of times. Which was your favorite? He thinks the Loki death was the funniest. Transfer starts.
Sousa finds Daisy. Looking spry for an old guy. She tells him fascism is back. The past won't leave us alone. Sousa says you said her name, Jiaying. She tells him about Jiaying. Things got really bad. It's a long story. But it came to an end. Sousa suggests talking to her how she was before then. The time line is screwed. You have a rare opportunity here. He'd love to spend one more moment with people long gone by now. He'll be the chaperone. Bail her out. She says you really are a square. He says harsh. LOL.
Mack and YoYo argue about who goes. He wins.
John wants to keep his eyes. Nathaniel doesn't know if he will. John has second thoughts. Doesn't feel so hot. Unplug me. I changed my - he teleports to the next room. Gordon passes out. Coulson says you don't know what you're doing giving that man that power. Kora says it was written in the stars. John loves the power. Someone needs to come up with a word for it. Coulson says you teleported. Thanks, Phil! Nathaniel has a target. Can you get me where I tell you to? John is pretty sure. So they teleport.
**Who is the target? What do they need next? Sybil will work anything to get the planet for her Chronicoms.
Jiaying pacing. Tell me there's news. Sousa says sorry, nothing yet. Daisy says you can trust us. Jiaying doesn't. No one will tell me anything. Daisy says Afterlife is important to us, too. Sousa encourages Daisy to show her. Daisy uses vibrations on a glass. Where did you learn that? From you. In Afterlife. In 30 years. We're from the future and I know how that sounds. But it's the truth. Jiaying felt she knew her. Something so familiar. Your gift is a lot like..... Nathaniel took that from you. It almost killed me. Knowledge of the future led him to us. Warped Kora's mind and turned her against me. Are you close? Inseparable. She clung to me leg her first 3 years. Terrigenisis changed her. The more I tried to help, the more she pulled away. Daisy says that must be so hard. Jiaying insists Kora has a good heart. She's worth saving. My power allows me to live a long life. I used to think it was my greatest gift. But I was wrong. It was her. Daisy says she never knew her mom, and when I found her, she wasn't who I hoped she would be. Jiaying can't speak to her mother's reasons, but for me, sometimes trying to do the right thing comes out all wrong.
John and Nathaniel arrive on the 3rd try. Saw these guys open for Twisted Sister. Nathaniel says they have to split up.
Gordon says the door. This room is built to hold powerful Inhumans. Coulson will bust them out. Gordon says you can't get us out. Maybe I can. I can't let this happen to the other Inhumans. He gets them to the hallway. Coulson says you're going to be alright. Gordon says you're hilarious and passes out. Dies?
John finds May. He teleports when she tries to rush him. I know where I'm going. Landing is a little tricky. Coulson called it teleporting. She attacks him. Beats him up until he teleports again.
Awkwardly.
Daisy come in. John Garrett is here with Nathaniel and they have Gordon's powers. Get Jiaying somewhere safe. Daisy takes her to run and Nathaniel is in the hallway.
**Gordon was essential to Jiaying in the near present. If he's dead.....
Mack finds Coulson. Gordon? Coulson shakes his head. YoYo arrives. May radioed. Coulson will find Kora. YoYo and Mack rescue the Inhumans. He digs her upgrade.
Nathaniel says don't shoot. Jiaying wants to know what he's done with Kora. he says you still have Daisy. Isn't one daughter enough? Daisy apologizes. Jiaying doesn't like that she hurt Daisy. Nathaniel tells their story. Daisy tells him enough until she quakes him back. He gives it a B+. Attacks her back. I've had these powers a lot longer than you have. Jiaying drains his life until he gets free. Stay back. I won't say it again. She doesn't and he breaks her neck. She won't live forever. And you won't live at all. Daisy shakes the Lighthouse. May shoots him from behind and he runs. Daisy stops quaking and goes to her mother's body.
May wonders what Nathaniel is after.
Sousa and Jemma in a hall. John grabs her. Sousa shoots but they're gone.
Kora meditating. Coulson enters. With a gun. Kora? Turn around slowly. She's been waiting. He says the rest are gone. They abandoned you. She wants to meet her sister. Sybil told me all about. He shoots.
May talking to them on comms. Nathaniel and Garrett are MIA. Everyone loaded on the Quinjet.
Daisy still with Jiaying.
Sousa says they took Simmons.
Onto the Zephyr! Deke, come in. Deke! Come in, where are you? John powers up the Zephyr. He answers the radio. May tells him the Zephyr's been hijacked.
Nathaniel and John smile at the sunlight as they fly away.
John says this is the Best Day Ever!
Jemma asks Nathaniel why she's here? What do you want? Sybil says every outcome where we don't come out on top is Fitz. You'll take us to him.
Next ep - Kora wants to be an Agent of SHIELD. Make the world the best it can be. By killing. Our team is running out of episodes to save the world.
