LET THE GAMES BEGIN - In order to get a handle on some urgencies at the school, Alaric (Matthew Davis) sends the students off-campus for their first-ever field day. But when a medieval monster arrives with a challenge, the students are left scrambling to guess which one of them may be a worthy opponent. Hope still asleep. Raf visiting her. And Landon's body there, too.
Cemetery. Landon sees a light. Walking toward it. Gates open. Necro grabs him. Where the hell are you going, you pernicious little twit?
Ric addresses the school. Wish I could say the worst is over. But we'll get through it if we stand united. Alyssa asks about his daughter, who murdered her, and the black magic power display. He says josie is back to normal. Alyssa notices Hope is not here. Ric says Hope was hit hard by what happened to Landon. He'll get Landon back. Why are we wearing gym clothes? Be kids. You haven't had a chance in far too long. MG tells them is the Field Day. Don't forget to bring your smile.
Lizzie gives Ric a 17 step approach. He wants her looking after her sister while he focuses on Landon. Josie is tripped. Alyssa bullying her. Now Lizzie's in.
Ted? Sorry to bug you. I forgot my headphones. He puts on the red robe and mimics the Necromancer. Well done on the voice! The pool bubbles. Someone's coming! She's the Lady of the Lake. He's Chad. She requires his help. We must go now.
Ric and Raf. Keep Hope's status a secret. Raf says my room isn't big enough for 3 bodies! Ted brings Landon into the room. He's incorporeal. Raf can see him, but Ric can't. Necro can't get what he's promised until Landon's back in his body. The little pillock won't come back!
Field Day. Obstacle courses and stuff. Lizzie and MG. Lizzie tells him she has to Lizzie. Try to forget what I'm about to do. Alyssa is campaigning. Lizzie interrupts and wants to remind them of how it used to be and what will happen if you don't vote me as your captain. Josie says don't do this. Lizzie says that's so Josie. Yes, she messed up, but you've been messed up your whole life and we've had to deal with it. So, with a gentle reminder I know where you all live, who votes for me. Hands raised. Alyssa says MG said I get to pick the game.
Ric yells at Necro Ted that you don't have the power to force him into his body? There's a technicality. Landon's being stubborn. ric asks about Hope. They reveal Hope won't wake up. Necro says I don't have full use of the black magic, yet. Landon says he can't come back. He doesn't want ted to get the black magic. Raf says we want the same thing? Let me talk to him alone. Necro says you have an hour.
Lizzie and Josie. Alyssa chose tug of war. Josie's tied as the anchor. Lizzie's ready. Alyssa chose wolves and vampires, so. Josie ends up in the mud pit face first. Alyssa's happy. You're a mud monster like Malivore. All makes sense now.
If Landon stays dead, everyone stays safe and alive. Raf says Hope's in a coma. Hero moves lead to tragedy. Out there, the bad guy wins every day. Why is this the time you stop fighting back?
Josie tells Lizzie she put the magic away. Everyone should be mad at me for what I did. You're making everything worse like you used to. Please let me do this on my own. Stop. I'm sorry. The mud falls off. Wade can explain. Or, the Lady in the Lake can. She wants the sword Wade borrowed. The actual Excaliber! Lake Lady says a true monster is bound to me. Ensure the sword to me and I'll take it to Avalon. Refuse and this world will be plunged into-- MG snickers. Armored monster arrives! The sword pulls out of MG's grasp and sticks in a stone. The sky goes black. The challenge has begun. Only the worthy shall win.
The Green Knight is corrupted from the power he's no longer worthy to wield. He's cursed to move slower the closer to Excalibur he gets. But he will reach it. He's the rightful owner. Only a champion may defeat him. Now is the time to run. Most everyone does. Except Pedro. Jed says Killing monsters is what we do. Alyssa says that's so hot. Jed thinks he has the stuff to attack the Knight. And bounces off. Ow. They all cringe. Pedro runs away. The worthy champion must wield Excalibur. Only its power can fell the Green Knight. Who will it be?
Landon wants to be a ghost wingman. Sneak around the teachers. Find out what girls like Raf. Raf says and when Hope comes back? Landon says she'd do the same thing. Sacrifice for the greater good. Raf says no. It's my turn. He finds Ted. You need the host or the spirit to be willing, right? And what is the status of the spirit. Unwilling. Put his spirit in me. Necro says this just got spicy.
Ric sitting with Hope. You know Landon is dead and if you wake, you have to face that grief. I wouldn't wish that on anyone, but we need you here. Landon needs you. We all need you.
The Green Knight will follow the sword to the end of the Earth. Wade says I brought the sword. Unless someone has a better idea? Lizzie says it's about who's worthy. Alyssa says true worthiness makes you kind and considerate. Lizzie says Josie is the least worthy. We know you're a killer, too. But hey, at least your parents aren't here to see what you've become. Alyssa says she's Team Monster now. Good luck beating anything without me. Josie says Alyssa was right. It has to be me. It's what you've been getting me to do all day. Please don't try to stop me. Lizzie says have it your way. But you're not doing it alone. They tug on the sword. Nothing happens. Lake Lady says only a worthy champion may wield it. Lizzie asks if there's anything else she'd like to share with the group?
Landon and Raf arguing. Doorbell ring. It's Chad! Landon? Thought you were dead. I was at the crypt. A lady monster came out of it. She asked for a worthy champion. Hope always saves the day. She was in search of a sword. Sensed it was in a field. Raf's not going until Landon gets back in his body.
They can't pull the sword. Where is Hope Mikaelson when you need her? MG says she's not coming. We have to prepare for that. We have to save the day like she does, but only if we're united. Lake Lady says royal blood has to flow in your veins to pull the sword. Excalibur was tainted and now your world will pay the price. MG insists we are worthy. We just have to prove it. What's the plan, MG? He tells everyone but the twins to slow it down with rope. They protect the sword. MG's doing the stupid thing.
Raf bring Landon to the room. She's waiting on you. If you don't come back, she doesn't come back. You don't want that on your conscience. I can barely live with being the reason you're there. We'll get Hope back, whether if you or you as me. Who do you think she wants to see when she wakes up?
Struggling with the Green Knight. They wrapped it in the ropes. Lizzie used fire. Didn't work. Immobilis. Nope. MG punches the helmet off. Raf pulls MG up and removes the sword from the stone. Your royal highness? Raf stabs the Knight. It falls. Sky clears of the magic storm. Daylight returns. Green Knight dissolves and disappears. Lake Lady kneels to Raf. He says please get up. I guess this is yours? She says no. It's yours as a descendant of Arthur. Do better than your ancestors and I'll never need to return. Lizzie asks where the hell were you?
Landon with Hope. He sits on the bed. Caresses her face. Her hair. He kisses her. Her eyes flutter open. Landon... They hug. You're here. With you. Always.
Teamwork is Magical. MG sees footprints on the floor. Lizzie. In her robe at the fireplace. Sorry for ruining your field day. He cares about her more. She knows. It means a lot. Any sign of Alyssa? I owe her an apology. She's gone. MG will bring her back. She says the unifier. That's your superhero name. He says check on Jo. She needs you.
Josie says Lizzie thinks I should spend time with Mom alone. Be the focus. But I don't want you to think you can't help me. Ric thinks it's a good idea. I spend so much time trying to control things around here. Sometimes I'm the one who creates the chaos. Have to learn to let go a little.
Landon asks if it smells like a dead body in here. Hope says no. She just.....knew. Made me want to stay asleep forever. Landon and Raf made a pledge to wake up every day and take it to the bad guys. They kiss. Raf interrupts. So sorry. I'll come back. Hope says I was just leaving. Ooops. Raf says you're supposed to kneel in the presence of a king. LOLOL.
Alyssa and Chad. Time to make something of myself. Chad's going to make manager at the ice cream palace. Chad pukes stuff and falls dead. Alyssa asks Ted if she's going to die again. He says give yourself over to me and you won't have to fear that fate. What say you, witch?
Next ep - Raf's dying. They'll try to save him anyway they can. But he leaves.
