“O Mother, Where Art Thou?”
FAMILY — Lana (Emmanuelle Chriqui) reaches out to Lois (Elizabeth Tulloch) and Clark (Tyler Hoechlin) when Kyle (Erik Valdez) starts behaving strangely. Meanwhile, Jonathan (Jordan Elsass) opens up to Jordan (Alex Garfin). Lastly, Sarah (Inde Navarette) storms out after accusing her mom of always covering for her dad. Who is Morgan Edge?
Brother? The two of us share the same Kryptonian blood. Whether you believe it or not. Tal-Ro. Son of Lara Lor-Van. Lara married Jor-El years after Edge was born. I was the first son of Krypton to leave. As a little boy. Kal-El says his mother would never destroy innocent lives.
Tal-Ro was found by a couple. The man was suspicious and Tal blasted him with heat vision.
Edge says the Defense Council will reign and we'll see our mother again. Help me do that, Brother. Kal says not like this. Edge flies at him. Our people will awaken soon. I need you at my side, or you will be eradicated.
Kyle outside. Lana tells Sara he wasn't at the bars. Sara is skeptical. You always cover for him! Your husband is not the guy you married anymore! Lana says enough. I don't need a teenager telling me what to do. Sara takes a bag to stay at Denise's . Lana asks Kyle to tell her everything.
Lois leaves a message for Lana. I'm worried about you. Sam will send someone to the house. Clark returns home.
Morgan Edge is your brother?? Jordan asks what does he want? Kryptonians here and for me to join him. Johnathan asks why does he think you'd join him? Clark says he said he can bring my mother back. Lois tells Clark to go. Find out if it's true.
The hologram says it's possible. How could you never tell me? There wasn't a need. The need? Jor-El says restoring Krypton was never her intent. It was Zeta-Ro that sought to colonize other worlds, enslaving the people as hosts. Clark says tell me what to do to stop it. But Lara developed this technology. I'm sorry, my son. I cannot help you.
Jordan texting. Can we talk please? He ponders how something happens crazier than before. Johnathan wonders if Edge at Iron's world was Kal-El's brother and Superman joined him and that's how that world ended. Lois says your dad has a family. No matter what happens, we always will be. Sam says they found Kyle Cushing. Where?
Kyle tells Lana you lied about the executive program. It's fine. I got tired of messing up with you, with our girls. Edge made me an offer. Said I could go through a process that would make me better. And it did. He starts to tell her about it and there's a knock on the door. Lois. I stopped by the check in. The Kryptonian grabs their throats. Lois brought Kryptonite. Soldiers bust in and take Kyle. Sam says good job. She asks Lana if she's okay? No! Not really!
**Yep, if your husband's voice changes and he rushes you with super speed and grabs your throat and picks you up by it, you're not going to feel great about life.
Daylight. Lana at the Kents. Sarah won't answer Lana's texts. Lana thought the strangeness was done in town, then this happens. Lois says they need to find Edge's eradicator. They tell her about X-K. Lois has the photos and names of victims. Lana sees one thing odd. Him. Dr. Dabny Donovan. Edge's personal physician. He does the exams on the executive program candidates.
The base in Smallville. Sam puts out an APB. Asks Kyle about the doctor. The Kryptonian is still in charge of his body. Sam turns on Kryptonite. One more time. Where do I find this man? Kyle won't talk. They turn up the green. Where is he?
Sarah and the boys at the diner. Jordan's sorry. Sarah says better to know. My dad's a disaster and my mom's getting a black belt in passive-aggressive texting. John tells her your dad has been body snatched. The DoD is here to try to help him. Jordan says maybe go see for yourself.
Clark and Lois on the porch. Lana's beating herself up. Lois wonders why Edge gives Superman time? Maybe because he needs it. To defeat Superman, he needs everyone. Clark hears they found Donovan. Guess I'll go out the back.
Superman bursts into the facility. You're coming with us. We need to reverse what this machine does to people. Doc says he can't. He barely understands it. You have to find the inventor of this thing. Sam asks who the hell is that? Superman says my mother.
Lois and Lana heading into the mobile base. Lana sees Superman. Everything okay? Lana says it's surreal to see Superman in real life. LOL. Lois says follow me.
The consciousnesses aren't alive. They only work inside the host. They need to put Lara into someone from Smallville. Lana volunteers. Lois pushes for a moment alone. With Lana. This isn't your responsibility. Lana says who's is it? This is my town and at every critical juncture, I failed it. She's determined. I have to save Kyle, Lois! What about Sarah and Sophie? Lana has to fix it for everyone here. Lois says this is alien science! Lana says good thing I'm just a loan officer.
The kids arrive. Sam is not happy. Pulls Johnathan over. Your secrets keep not helping. You doing the right thing keeps turning out to be the exact opposite. Can't you act like a real human being and not a soldier? Sam says let them in. Thanks, Grandpa.
Sarah and the boys come to "Kyle". Kryptonian says Dad doesn't exist anymore. He's a screaming corpse of ashes on the pyre. It tells Johnathan that when it gets out of here, it'll kill him first.
Clark doesn't like Lana doing this. Lois tells him to talk to her. Superman approaches Lana. I wanted to thank you. It's very brave. Lana says her heart is racing a million miles an hour. He knows. Says you don't have to do this. There could be another way. Awww. He tells her she's the hero now. Lois says it's time, so Lana walks to the machine. Takes her jacket off and lies down. Lois says we'll be right here. She goes in the eradicator. It's a painful process. And then it's over. Did it work, is she okay? She wakes. Looks at... Kal-El? Mother?
**The double voice effect helps sell the possession. I wonder who is in Leslie? Someone very loyal to Edge's family.
Superman says this must be a lot to process. Lara says this was never meant to supplant another race. Kryptonians are a peaceful people. At least the majority of us. She was genetically matched with Zeta-Ro. She fell in love with Jor-El and ended her relationship with her previous husband. Her biggest fear in letting him go was that he'd have no mother. He tells her he had Martha. She loved me very much. This world welcomed you. It has. And you found someone. She's the love of my life. It's all his mother wanted for him. He says we have two sons. She asks him to tell her all about them.
John and Jordan and Sarah back at the diner. Johnathan won't apologize for telling the truth. Ever. All you can do now is be there for her. Jordan sits with Sarah. I'm so sorry. She had to see him. I don't know what that was. He says a lot of smart people are trying to figure that out. She says last night was my dad and I was awful to him. Calling him drunk might be the last thing I say to him. I need him back. Jordan tells her to hold on to hope.
Edge and Leslie see the eradicator is gone. He tells her to leave and prepare for our arrival. Now? Kal-El made his decision. There's no saving my brother now.
Lara works on the device. Explains that Instead of a computer, it's a brain. The Eradicator holds and transfers information. The old consciousness exists until the transfer is complete. How long? For days. Weeks. Depends on how willing the host is. And to reverse it? The affected need to go through the machine again. They argue about it being improbable. Lara says To change them all at once, they need a power that rivals the sun. Superman hears Edge. He needs to buy time. Lois tells him appeal like he did. As a brother. Lara tells him go, my son. Be the hero you were meant to be.
Meet in a field. Hello, Superman.
Why do you love them? There must be a reason. Did they take you in? Treat you as one of them? Edge landed in British countryside and was hunted. Trapped. Caught. Kept hidden from the world for years. An experiment. Kal-El is sorry he went through that. But not everyone here is like that. Edge says only when they're afraid. Believe me, I made them afraid. I'm going to again. Without you, Brother.
Jordan apologizes for not making it to the performance. Sarah says it's because of this. Yeah. She feels like a jerk. He's glad she got the moment with her dad. Waiter speeds out suddenly. Then many townsfolk fly off! SO MANY.
Yes, humans are flawed, but they don't deserve to lose their lives. Edge says they're inferior! Kal says no, they are not! Edge insists he won't fail. Kal says he will. Kal-El hasn't known the pain of losing a planet, but Edge does and will not let that happen again, and neither are they. The army is coming.
That's your family coming, Kal. Your real people, your heritage. Make a choice. Us. Or them. Superman says there is no us or them. He takes to the sky and they chase him. Sam, we're out of time. Is it ready? It is. Except for that energy source part. Superman says he'll release all of his energy at once and trigger a solar flare. Get everyone out!
Sam evacuates the area. Lois yells at the boys to go.
Sarah's visiting the Kryptonian again.
The boys finally run to Lois.
Superman coming in. Kryptonians fire at him. Edge catches up and yells at them to stop. But Kal fires until it triggers a blast.
The Kryptonian passes out. Then gets up. Sarah. Dad? What happened?
The townsfolk look around confused. Soldiers surround them. Lois finds Lana.
Lana finds her family.
Sam told there's no sign of Edge. Where's Dad?
Crashes into the Fortress area. Superman crawls in the snow holding the eradicator memory.
Leslie stands in the dark. Edge lands. Just us? For now. But all is not lost.
