Episode 11:
Fortress location. Young Clark walking in the snow, following the glow of the crystal. It goes dark. He tosses it down. It glows and shakes. Sinks into the ice. The Fortress grows. He breaks out of the ice to see a cave entrance to the new Fortress of Solitude. The crystal hovers above a podium. He grabs it. Finds a hole for it. Jor-El speaks to him. You are my son. What is all this? A place where you can learn away from the prying eyes of the world. Lessons about who you are and why you were sent here. Krypton and Kal, the last son of the House of El. Your cells absorb energy from the sun that humans cannot. I'll teach you how to use that power, speed, strength. You'll learn to do impossible things. Like flying.
Grown Clark. Jor-El tells him to reconnect to the world. Open your heart and find out why you wish to be their champion.
He returns to Martha. She hugs him. Did you find what you were looking for? Yeah. I think so. Enter the house. Photo of the family. Voice over telling Martha what he learned. He puts the crystal in his ship. Enters his old room. There's someone I need to see.
Clark wanders town. Smallville is still lively. Lana! He sees her kiss Kyle and she's wearing an engagement ring.
Martha says you were gone a long time. People move on with their lives. There's something she wants to show him. A trunk of keepsakes. What is this? She had a dream of him flying as a man. So she made this. Mom....leaving you after Dad died.... She knows he needed to. Now it's time for you to save the world, Clark. Needs something on the chest, I think.
Clark in Metropolis looking for Millage Avenue. No one helping. He hears danger. Walks past a phone booth and changes into the suit. Saves a boy from a flying car and sets the car down. Here you go, friend. Boy says it's cool costume. Thanks! My mom made it for me. Clark changes back into his clothes on a phone booth. A woman gushes about what just happened. Someone at the Planet has to hear about this! He looks up to see the towering building.
Daily Planet. This isn't a resume. It's a cry for help. Come find me when you get real world experience. Clark begs for a chance. No health insurance or overtime. And you have to pick up my dry cleaning every Thursday. Mr. Wright tells him to stick with Lane, she'll show you the ropes. Who told you to wear a tie? He's wowed at first sight. And bumbling. She's never met a Clark before. He rambles. Mystery man 3rd save this month. She says boys and their heroes. Ever since he showed up, he's dominated the conversation. Look at this. Nazi symbols in Lower Metropolis and attacks on minority businesses. Her reporting keeps getting drowned out by everyone's favorite miracle man. He asks how can I help?
Days of research. Coffee. Interviews. Dry cleaning. And laughing together. Still tracking the symbol. Board of suspects. Clark says you're really good at this. He doesn't have plans. Seinfeld reruns and frozen chicken nuggets. She offers to talk to Perry for him. Get him a local beat or something. But he'd rather be here. He leaves for the night.
Daylight. Lois isn't at her desk. She got a contact call. Henry Miller? Clark zooms in on her voice. Hears danger. She's confronting a man in a trench coat with a flamethrower. Superman saves her. Cools the gun. So the guy tosses grenades. Superman takes out one, then the other. Lois tasers the bad guy. Clark sees someone's mirage blinking out off to the side. Lois asks how he knew. He says he's been following her stories. And my hearing. They shake hands. She asks what he's called. He says I'm sure you'll think of something. He flies away. Who was that? Superman.
Daily Planet Today. Lois with Superman's first on camera interview. He arrived in Metropolis over a year ago. When Krypton was destroyed, my pod landed here. He speaks multiple languages. Curiosity about the world. How many? All of them. Wow. She asks what he stands for. Everything good and decent. Truth...justice... The American way? Sound issues. They cut. Lois is told Superman is into you. Janet dreams of having someone look at her like that. There's serious chemistry happening! Lois is in love with someone else. Clark from the paper. We've been dating a couple months. She hasn't told anyone about her feelings, yet. Clark's listening the whole time. And grinning. Lois returns to her seat. Superman says he's a lucky man. She won't take it easy on him.
Clark and Lois go to meet Martha. Lois brought flowers. Martha hugs her. Couldn't wait to have you out to the farm. Folks are eager to meet you, too. Mom! Come inside, I've got lunch waiting.
She's wonderful. Yeah, I know. Clark needed to be ready. To tell her who he really is. Martha asks if he's sure. There's no going back. He says no going back after the first time I saw her. She hugs him. Lois walks in.
He hovers outside to show her.
Elevator. Lois kisses him.
Engagement at the Fortress. They kiss in the sky.
Wedding at the farm. Can't believe I married Lois Lane. In bed with beautiful light. There's no one she'd rather share it with. Clark can't wait to tell his dad the hologram about the wedding. She says he'll have to wait until after the honeymoon. Clark kisses her.
Jor-El asks how was your marriage ceremony. Clark starts to tell him. Then Jor-El fritzes out and tells him to leave! Now! Get out of here now!
Clark waves in bed confused.
Lois has something to tell him. I'm pregnant! He was asking her what day it is. She took 3 tests. He tells her something strange happened right before you came out. But she keeps talking about the baby. She wants a girl. They kiss.
Then he's at a doctor's appt. You're going to have twins! They appear to be boys. Lois needs water. Is this because of Superman? She's freaking out. Clark sees the shadow image again. She's still talking like he's there. He realizes this isn't real. He leaves the room. Edge is there. What have you done?
Lois's birth scene. 27 hours later. Jordan came out first. Edge there again. He knows everything. I'd never harm a newborn. Teenage boys, on the other hand.
Superman takes a band off his forehead. Edge says it's good you're awake, Kal-El. Now we can discuss the terms of your surrender. Edge is wearing the same band. Some kind of mental interface device, obviously.
**So, while Clark was drained, Edge found him and tapped into his mind. Not good.
My sons are not bargaining chips! The device is used to navigate the resting mind. Edge followed him here to try to understand why Kal would betray his Kryptonian heritage. Edge thinks the world is mediocre. Kal says threatening my family is not how to get what you want. Jor-El says do not listen to him! Edge says he's corrupted you like our mother. Kal says I spoke to our mother. She thinks there's still good in you. Edge won't debate morality with Jor-El. Here I stand, brother. Flesh and blood. Join me of your own free will. Kal won't let him do this. Then Edge will make him suffer. Destroys the crystal. Jor-El says I love you, my son. Disappears. Then they crash around the Fortress. Edge beats on Kal. He dreamed of having a brother to share his goals with. It didn't have to be this way! Edge walks away, leaving him unconscious.
Kyle's head hurts. Lois says it should go away in a day or two. Lana asks how Emily is. Lois says DoD is keeping the alien consciousnesses off the record. Kyle thinks he'll be a target to blame. I shouldn't have gone to Edge behind your back. Lana asks about him. Lois says they're looking for him.
Sarah and Jordan and Johnathan. She feels guilty for thinking the worst of her father. She thanks them for being honest. John's sorry it was rough. She says at least it was the truth. She wants a moment alone with Jordan. He babbles until she kisses him. I don't want to be just friends anymore. Me, neither. She kisses him again.
Kents about to leave. Kyle apologizes to Lois about how he treated her. I was wrong about you. You're good people, Lois. I'm happy you're part of this town.
They return home. Lois tells Jordan we need to have a chit chat now you have a girlfriend. Edge lands. Your father won't be returning any time soon, which is why Uncle Morgan decided to visit. Such an arrogant jerk.
So this is the life Kal-El chose. It's even more disappointing up close. Lois says you're not welcome here. Edge left their father in his little ice castle. I prefer the desert. Jordan tries to stand up to him. Edge visions at him. Lois defends her family. Kal lands. I'll do whatever you ask. Just leave my family alone. Edge says pledge your submission and I promise to leave them unharmed. I submit. He tells Lois I'm sorry. I needed more time. He was right. They fly away.
Land in the desert. Edge's home.
Young Edge tossed his crystal and grew his fortress.
Talks to his father's hologram. 1987. The Eradicator? You possess it? Not yet. Did I birth a fool? Edge says it hasn't reached here, yet. Were there other Kryptonians sent to join me? You need no one, son. Only me. Understood? Yes, sir! The first lesson is pain. A ray engulfs him.
Brings Kal to his father. Weakness never stamped out. He's pledged his submission, Father. And the Eradicator taken from him. Then let us begin.
Kal in a ray after it goes in the wall. It's obviously painful.
