“You Have To Pick One This Time”
SEASON PREMIERE – After learning that Malivore has taken over Landon’s (Aria Shahghasemi) body, Hope (Danielle Rose Russell) and the Super Squad come up with a risky plan to rescue Landon, as well as Cleo (guest star Omono Okojie), who has been absorbed into Malivore’s darkness. Meanwhile, an impromptu date with Finch (guest star Courtney Bandeko) brings up a subject that Josie (Kaylee Bryant) is not ready to talk about. Matthew Davis, Jenny Boyd, Quincy Fouse, Chris Lee, Ben Levin, and Leo Howard also star. The episode was written by Mark Ryan Walberg and directed by Tony Solomons (#317). Remember, the start of this season is the end of last season (again) because of the pandemic.
Episode 1:
Cleo wakes. A frog friend in her hut. How is any of this possible? Her mother comes in. But Cleo knows her mother and sisters are dead. Mother tells her this world can be anything you want it to be, Cleo. Malivore. Your eternity can be endless peace or misery. Heaven or hell. Your choice. Malivore has one little problem.
Hope visits Malandon. Hello, Clarice. He says he has all of Landon's memories. Hope rather have this over as soon as possible. She says Ted did something noble. You aren't Hannibal Lector. You're the lamb. Mal says you'd be killing him. She says give me proof Landon is still in there, or..... She won't kill him, but she has no problem hurting him until she knows where Landon is. In ways he'll heal from and won't know about. There's a force field spell on the cage.
Hope goes to the office and Super Squad is meeting. Ric says it's an emergency session. MG says Cleo is the key to all of this. Malivore consumed her, so she's in the pocket dimension. Find her and she may inspire us. Ric says Cleo is the target of this mission. Josie says though we hope that'll lead us to saving Landon. Kaleb and MG will use their vamp powers to get in Landon's body's head. Hope approves of the plan. They think Hope needs to sit this out. Hope is sorry they think she'd jeopardize this plan. How can I help? Ric says let's vote.
Hope chews out Lizzie in the room with the cage. Ric shoots her unconscious.
Josie and Finch. Finch wants to know what's up. Lizzie asks if she's canceled her date, yet. Thanks in advance for understanding. Lizzie canceled with Ethan, too.
Malivore says this won't end well. A head dive? Josie siphons the field. Ric and Kaleb will go in. Girls will watch and ensure their safety. Malivore says I'm aware of what you're doing. You'll be dealing with my conscious mind, which can't wait to torture yours. Ric says let's stick to the plan. Kaleb and Ric enter. Malivore says this is going to be fun. Kaleb starts. Lizzie says coast is clear. Suddenly, two more are in the cage. MG and Hope hid invisible until Malivore was under Kaleb's touch. MG says think he bought it? She tells MG to get us in there.
The blackness. Hope and MG. She thinks Ric and Kaleb are keeping Malivore distracted. MG says have trust in the democratic process. She says the only reason I'm here is because you're keeping an eye on me. What do I have to do to prove it to you? He says find Cleo and stick to the plan. She says pick a direction. There's a light ahead.
Ric opens his eyes. In a high school. Hears a noise and grabs a mop. It's Kaleb. I asked you not to come. Kaleb says you can use a wingman. Kaleb says this is my high school.. Ric says we're in a merged consciousness. this is a memory you and I share. The day we met.
Josie pacing. Lizzie says our job is to do nothing. Load up on magic like me and stay calm. Josie says she didn't like how dismissive Lizzie was toward Finch. Who comes in with food and a compatibility quiz.
Kaleb won the winning touchdown at the Homecoming game. Ric's not so find of this night. Kaleb fed on someone afterward and almost killed Ric. How else should he react when a vampire hunter shows up with a crossbow. Ric ultimately shot him with vervain and took him to the Salvatore School. Case closed. Door opens. Ric says we're not going in there. It's what Malivore wants. Kaleb says I keep telling you we're a team. They enter then weight room. Malivore is waiting. There's something about the memory you share. They don't match up.
Cleo enjoying her family. Catching up with her sisters. Cleo is fancy now. She must have better things to do than be here with us. Cleo says there's no place she'd rather be. Hope and MG enter. Sisters, these are my friends. I invited them to dinner. MG plays along. Hope says is this is a trap, at least it smells good.
Sitting at the meal. Hope asks Cleo if she needs help on that art project. Cleo says she's good. Hope asks if she's seen Landon? I heard he moved to this neighborhood recently. MG wants to play nice. Hope pushes Cleo to talk. None of this is real. Cleo says you should've left when you had the chance.
Malivore plays video of Kaleb's memory. He fed. Then saw the band pass by. Kaleb says you're lying. I never did that. Malivore wants him to feel it all over again. The violence. Ric is missing vervain from his pockets. Malivore says if you die in my consciousness, it will severely damage your mind in the real world. Good luck with that. He seems hungry.
The quiz. Fitch and Josie have the same answers. Lizzie asks a pushing question. Fitch says you have to hope you're growing in the same direction. Fitch asks where do you see yourself on your 25th birthday. Josie gets sad.
Malivore wakes up. Nice try. I'll be right back. I've got a secret mission to crash.
Hope pushing Cleo to face reality. The illusion never lasts. But what does last is your friends. Cleo has spent so long alone, she didn't imagine someone would come for her. We came to help you, Cleo. MG says we never leave a member behind. Hope says I'll stop at nothing to get you out, but we need your Muse powers to lead the way. Malivore says you're too late. Solid plan. Should've seen this one coming. Hope says the good guys always win. He says she woke his consciousness when she made the dinner party disappear. He grabs Cleo. Me and my muse have somewhere to be. You two have somewhere to be, too. Hope and MG drop through the floor.
**Hope definitely has the impatience of her father.
hope opens her eyes. MG? She's in the woods. Landon is dead. MG is wounded. Where are we? The night you killed Landon and activated his phoenix powers. None of it is real. She'll heal him with her blood. Malivore says don't do that until you hear my offer.
Kaleb struggling with the memory. The hunger. Ric tells him he can beat this. Kaleb fangs out. And bites Malivore...... Landon? How did you find us? Landon says this place was a beacon in the dark. He jumped in and didn't think beyond it. Ric hugs him. Finally. Landon asks how long have I been gone?
Lizzie doesn't understand. We should be able to pull them out. Fitch asks how can I help? Josie found a spell. Fitch says siphon me. As much as you need.
Hope says hard pass. All I care about is MG. Malivore says we know that's not all you want. Hope says this is the night I chose to save MG's life after he murdered my boyfriend. Malivore gives her a knife. I'll even help. She stabs him. He feels nothing. Offers her the deal. Landon is out in the darkness. He's waiting for you to rescue him like always. Follow that path and it'll lead you straight back to Landon. The time you spend with him won't just seem real. It will be. But this is a limited time offer. Once those lights are gone, your chance to find Landon will be, too.
**Poor Kaleb wasn't always as in control of his vampness as we've been led to believe. Interesting. Who turned him, btw? How long before Homecoming?
Josie asks Fitch if she's sure. It can be really painful. She knows they're Gemini witches. Found a book on their coven. Pages ripped out in the section with Gemini Twins. Lizzie says we're good to go. They chant.
Ric and Landon and Kaleb catch up in the stands for the stadium. Your girl is on the case. Landon says that's a problem. Ric says it's not your fault. Landon says this ends one of two ways. My body dead, or Hope becoming the Tribrid. I can't let that happen to Hope. Ric says we kill your body and you'll be trapped here. Landon says it'll suck, but still better than some things he's faced. When this time comes, do it. Promise me.
Malivore pushing Hope to choose. Can't let you do both. She asks what happens to MG? Mal says it's not your problem. You'll have Landon. Isn't that what you want? MG says it's okay, Supergirl. Malivore says we've hit the delusional stage. You're cutting this close. Hope feeds MG her blood. Malivore says the next round of torture will be even worse. She asks why he's doing this? What's the point? He says I'm doing it already.
They return to real life. Ric asks Hope what happened? MG says they found Cleo, but no further answers. Hope asks if they found any sign of Landon? Kaleb lies. No, we didn't.
Hope in her room. MG says he didn't know today was ice cream rough. She came up to reminisce about simpler times. Please, come in. Save me from myself. We got our asses kicked today. MG thinks they won an important battle. Malivore wants to isolate you. Which makes us all weaker. That's what bullies do. He failed. We're more together than we have been in a long time. She asks what they do next? He doesn't know. But as long as we do it together, we'll beat him. If I was him, I'd be scared. Hope says I bet Cleo is scared. MG says the Salvatore School has taught him a little Hope goes a long way. LOL.
Ric and Kaleb. Kaleb fought the urge for 17 minutes. First time we met, you attacked me in seconds. I call that growth. Kaleb wouldn't be who he is now if he knew what he'd done. Sometimes the truth can do more harm than good. At least until you're ready to hear it. Ric says welcome to my lonely little club. With Kentucky bourbon and the crushing weight of trying to protect the people you love. Kaleb will back his play.
Josie checks on Fitch. Salty noodle apology in soup form. Fitch doesn't need one. She just wants to know why. Josie finds it hard to let her in. Fitch asks would you rather have a relationship that's fun, easy, and safe. Or one that's honest and hard and leads to growth. Josie says both. Have to pick one. Than the latter. Josie says there are a lot of obstacles that come with being a Gemini witch. The kind that make people leave. The missing pages are about something called The Merge.
Hope visits Lizzie. Closes the door. Lizzie craps on relationships. Hope asks why do you think that is? Because you guys have something Lizzie never had, that she wants. The kind that's soft, builds on mutual respect, and grows over time. That I'd do anything for. Hope says talk to MG. Lizzie says he's not there. But Ethan is. though I canceled a date. Hope says when it gets hard, your friends will always be there for you. Lizzie asks her to stay until she falls asleep.
Cleo in the hut. She has something to discuss with Malivore. Inspiration has struck. But not for you. Who? It's a Squad thing. You wouldn't understand. Malivore threatens her. She says do your worst. I only need to endure it until my friends rescue me.
Hope wakes in the chair. I'm feeling very inspired. I have an idea.
Next ep - Going for Cleo. Malivore says happy hunting......tribrid.
