“Waiting For Superman”
SEASON FINALE — Chrissy Beppo (Sofia Hasmik), with the authorization of the Department of Defense, has a message for the people of Smallville: not only is the merging of planets real, it is happening. Tyler Hoechlin, Elizabeth Tulloch, Jordan Elsass, Alex Garfin, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Erik Valdez, Inde Navarrette, Wole Parks, Taylor Buck, and Dylan Walsh also star. The episode was directed by Gregory Smith and written by Brent Fletcher & Todd Helbing (#215). Original airdate 6/28/2022.
Episode 15:
Chrissy updates the people on video. Stay home. Be with your loved ones. Pray for a miracle. She can't reach Lois on the phone.
Lana can't reach Kyle. Sophie says he was there, and then just gone. Lana wants to go look for him.
Kents on bizarro Earth. But a lot of stuff is from their kitchen. Natalie sees her tablet. Will try to contact her dad. Clark and Lois think the flickering will keep happening until the merge is complete.
Natalie on the porch. Jordan and Jon check. Trying to reassure her about her dad. Nat says when my mom died, I wasn't with her. I never got to say goodbye. I didn't get a chance to tell her how much I loved her, that I was proud to be her daughter. John's voice breaking up on comms now. He needs the escape pod. Tal-Rho walks in! In full suit. Flickers. Back with yellow sun. Where's Mom?!
Lois still on Bizarro Earth. Alone.
**A bit scary to see Tal in that costume. ;) Like, are you not evil?
Lois calling. Her dad runs to her. His Jeep is gone. She needs to be with her family. Sam says they need help. Has to be someone not totally brainwashed.
Mom's nowhere in the house. Jordan hears company. it's Bizarro Lois. What's happening?
Nat outside, leaving to get her suit. Boys chase after her. No way you can go through that portal yourself. She tells them it's her turn to step up. Stay with your family. They call her family, too. She hugs them. I liked having brothers. Tell your dad I said bye.
Sarah trying to call her dad. Sophie scared by the TV news. Flickering in town. Minivan crashes into an SUV. It's empty. Right-hand drive from Bizzarro Earth. Sarah's freaked. Lana says they have to find Kyle.
Tal and Clark outside the house. Tal's inspired to try to save the world. No, fighting for you. You and your family are the only people on this planet who truly matter to me. They hug. He flies away.
Confronts Ally and she's draining him. He's screaming in pain.
Jordan hears. Ally's going to kill him. Jordan flies up to rescue him. He hit Ally. Then goes after Tal to catch him before he splats. They land at the farm. Tall says I'm forever in your debt. No being can defeat whatever she's become. Clark says you're wrong. There's still one being who can stop her. Who could that be? Me.
Dad, you don't have any powers. Clark says take me to our sun. He wants to be thrown into it. Thinks that's what Mom was telling him at the Fortress. We're out of time. Tal, I trust you as a friend and a brother and I need you to do the same. I was sent here to be Superman. Don't lose hope. I love you guys more than anything. The twins love him, too. Tal retrieves his Superman suit. Clark says it'll work. Don't lose hope. They fly away.
Natalie gives her AI instructions. Use the pod to follow me into the mines. We'll fly into the void. We find my dad.
Lana and Sarah and Sophie at the fire station. No Kyle or Mitch and Fuller. He's probably on that other world. They ask the mayor what to do? Lana says be with your families.
Bizarro World is chaotic. Looking for Chrissy. She uses a translator so they can talk. Sam just disappeared. Chrissy is scared. She disappears. there's a crash outside. A plane landed into a building across the street. Kyle spots Lois. He's worried about his family.
John recording a message for Nat. She finds him! He asks how much XK she brought? He needed XK for his plan, but she didn't get that part of the message. And they can't go back and try again. Suits too beat up.
Tal and Clark at the sun. Clark has to believe it'll work. Tal wants him to know..... I love you, too. Rushes Clark into the sun. Good luck, brother. Earth is lucky to have you. Clark is tumbling into the sun.
Natalie thinks they can disrupt the merge. If we don't act now, billions of people will die. We can't let that happen. They transfer energy to the pod.
Kyle asks if Lois believes in karma. He thinks it's why he's not with his family right now. I deserve this. She says no one ever deserves to be alone. Neither do you. He disappears. Lois looks up at the sky.
Kyle among a crowd. Lana? Sophie? Sarah? They see each other and run together.
Boys run out to look at the sky. Sam arrives. Boys think Dad's going to die. “I’ve been working for the DOD for a long time,” Sam tells them. “I’ve seen things you would not believe — glimpses of other worlds, and the leagues of superheroes they have on them. And even though we only have your father on this planet, thank God that we do, because he’s the finest of any Earth. Your mother hasn't lost hope, I haven't, and neither has Superman.”
Clark screaming in the sun. Remembering. Energizing. He's back.
The pod goes in. Energy wave. It worked.
Ally is angry.
Superman flies out of the sun.
Nat and John floating, waiting. She calls him her hero. I love you, Dad. I always will. I'm going to miss you.
A ship falls out of the sky and lands on the farm.
They all see Superman flying. He crashes into Ally. He makes her take energy that disrupts her merge. Hits them. They fall below. He flies. Nat and John catch them. Keep them apart.
Superman is flying fast around the worlds. Energy blast into the ground.
He lands in Smallville and the people applaud. Lois greets him. The sky is normal again.
**Sam's speech including other earths but Superman is all this world has..... In Crisis on Infinite Earths, the very end showed the multiverse reborn. At the beginning of this season, at least, Superman and Lois is a new Earth. Don't know what number that might be, but they're clearly not on Earth Prime now. The Arrowverse has changed again. Unfortunately, The Flash characters still don't know the multiverse is back, so we're not having communication across the remaining shows now. "Crossovers" will only be doppelgangers unless/until that happens. This Clark doesn't have a cousin Kara.
Fireworks over Smallville. Miracle Monday. Lana says they strive for truth, justice, and a better tomorrow. They express their thanks to the Man of Tomorrow, our world's hero, Superman! There's a fly-by.
Clark congratulates Mayor Lana. Wish I'd been there. She says you were busy. And you did save the world. Let's call it even. He hopes they can... She says she just needed space. But even if Sarah didn't know, it'd be tough getting through this life without you in it. He'll be honest about everything now. She says that scares her. Laughs.
Lois wants to talk to Chrissy about Clark. Listen.....um....Clark is....Superman. Chrissy doesn't believe it. You're not kidding. Wow.... I'm kind of overwhelmed. Do other people know? Less than a handful. Lois is tired of keeping the truth from her. Chrissy's freaking out. Do I need to swear an oath of secrecy?
Town festival. Jordan and Sarah talking. She never said sorry for kissing the girl at camp. I never thought about what you needed and I'm really sorry. He sits with her. I'm not great about opening up about how I feel. I'll try to be better with that. She says let's reset and talk to each other and see how we do. He starts telling her about the beginning of his powers.
Eating at the festival. Nat and John enjoying themselves. Clark finds Lois. You okay? With you around, always. Slow song. They dance. Chrissy's been looking at me like that all day. LOL.
Kyle asks Mrs. Mayor if she'd like to dance. She hesitates. You okay? She knows he's trying and wants to fix things. But she's not there. I'm not over what happened. He knows. He's sorry. So, so sorry. You and the girls are everything to me. She doesn't doubt it. But you'll always be in my life. this us? It'll never be like it was. It's not fair to either of us if you think it will. He says how about our last dance, then. They do.
Lois asks Clark if he's okay. yeah. He wishes everybody could be as happy as he is right now. She says I love you, Superman.
**Lana, at least go to counseling with the man before you throw your marriage away. He's putting in the work. Why can't you try? You have history and feelings and the girls. Those kids deserve to have two parents trying to love each other.
**Said as someone who went to the wedding of a couple reunited and healed after a cheating incident.
Lois visits the Allys at DOD. They don't have powers. Lois asks if there was a moment they felt complete. A moment just after they started to merge. Not the same thing. It quickly turned into something darker. If that's not what you wanted, why didn't you stop? They need others. They can't be alone. Lois says guess you don't have to be.
Farm. Visitors. Looking for the twins. New trucks! From Uncle Tal. Jonathan's already in his. Clark is not pleased. Jordan asks Where did Tal go?
Bizarro World! In the bar. Drinks are on me! He asks about his wife.
Diggle finds John Henry Irons at the diner. Mind if I have a seat? Bruno Manheim. Ring any bells? Passes him a file. The head of Intergang. Hands in all the wrong pies. Diggle says Bruno killed the JHI on this planet. I'm trying to figure out why.
Farming. Harvesting. Lois tells her sister to call when she gets there. Sam's escorting Lucy on her trip. The boys want to drive the trucks to Metropolis to visit.
Clark has a trip planned for his family. Boat on the water. Lois imagined something different for an ocean adventure. Clark's building another Fortress for all of them. Mom wants to meet Jonathan. There's Kryptonian technology that will interest you. Clark throws a crystal into the water. They wait. Then it happens. This is incredible. It's only the beginning.
