“Private Eye Caramba!” – When a young Latin telenovela actress is murdered, Beckett and the team delve into a case that is as flamboyant and full of intrigue as any telenovela. Meanwhile, Castle is hired as private investigator by the show’s sultry star to pursue the case from another angle, on “Castle,” MONDAY, JANUARY 19 (10:01-11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

“Castle” stars Nathan Fillion as Richard Castle, Stana Katic as NYPD Detective Kate Beckett, Susan Sullivan as Martha Rodgers, Molly Quinn as Alexis Castle, Penny Johnson Jerald as NYPD Captain Victoria Gates, Tamala Jones as Medical Examiner Lanie Parish, Jon Huertas as NYPD Detective Javier Esposito, and Seamus Dever as NYPD Detective Kevin Ryan.

Recap:

A woman running down a street. She calls up to an apartment. She lost her purse and keys and needs to be let in.

Martha and Kate talk about Rick. He hasn't gotten interesting cases, yet. He comes in and has retooled his investigations website. Kate gets a call. She asks him to walk her to work.

He will be meeting a client this morning. Doing a background check on a boyfriend. He tells her he has to pay his dues when he's starting out. Drops her off at the crime scene. She gets the update from Espo. The victim is a telenovella actress. Perlmutter on the case again. Death came by blow to the head. A length of pipe. Ryan says the neighbors overheard loud voices before the death. Find out where she came from last night.

The studio. Espo watches a scene. Kate says she found out who they need to talk to. Espo knows who the actors are.....he's really into this, LOL.

Castle calls Kate. He's jealous of her case. His client canceled, so he's bored.

Kate and Espo talk to Mr. Herrera, the producer. The victim was a rising star. Says Sophia might know where the victim went last night. And there was an incident with the victim's assistant. He tried to hit her. Marcus was fired on the spot. Threatened to kill her. Kate talks to Sophia. Ana was going to an event in the UES. Ana borrowed Sophia's purse. It's on loan, and has to be back to the boutique tomorrow.

Castle working on his story. Sophia shows up. Detective Beckett recommended you. He asks about Ana. Sophia says I'm the victim. Find my purse. Due back tomorrow by 5pm. Costs half a million dollars. She gives him a photo of it.

Ryan tells Kate a guy was seen running from the area. Resembling the assistant. Castle calls Kate. He's on the case. She still can't help him. We don't know where Ana went. So start canvassing.

Kate interrogates Marcus. He says he went to a bar, then left at 11:30. She tells him Ana is dead. He's surprised. Says he'd never hurt her. The attack was staged. Ana paid him $3000 to do it. She needed to get away for a couple days. Gotten secretive. Maybe whatever it was got her killed.

Ryan gives Kate a sketch from the homeless witness.

Castle visits the opera. Asks an usher if Ana was there. Yep. Here for the premiere of Rigoletto. She arrived a few minutes before the show ended. And went straight to the restroom. Hmmm. He goes in and Kate is there. The attendant Pam saw something strange. Ana met with a woman in the corner. She gave Ana a USB drive. Ana put it in her purse and snuck out. The woman might've been a season ticket holder. Kate asks for names. Castle gets a theory.

Castle asks the usher where Ana went. He told Kate, too. Ana got in a limo. Then Castle talks to Sophia. The limo could've come from anywhere. Castle will try to find the limo. Sophia says it's not a promising lead. Call with an update this evening.

Ryan tells Kate who the woman with the USB drive is. Ana was half Lebanese, so Ryan suggests espionage.

Ryan and Espo talk to Perlmutter. There are bruises on the victim's wrist. And there's a print. on Ana's neck.

Kate talks to Miss Nasif. She loves telenovellas. She and Ana were acquaintances. She says she was not at the Opera. Gets up and leaves when Kate asks about the flash drive.

Ryan says the print belongs to Harlan Mathis. Freelance ex-Marine who will do anything including wetwork.

Castle in his office. Kate knocks. Can't figure out who the white limo belongs to. Kate suggests calling it a night. He and Kate start role-playing. He pours her a drink. They start getting hot and get interrupted by Sophia. Oooops. Need to close that door!

They apologize. Sophia bombards Castle with questions. I don't have time. You're fired, Mr. Castle. He hires himself to finish the case. Says he's been going over every bit of social media on Ana from the past 24 hours. Photos of Ana, and leaving the limo she doesn't have the purse anymore. 5 minutes later. The purse is in the limo. The VIN is visible in the photo, so he can track down the owner. And now he's hired again.

Castle comes home. Kate's still awake. He apologizes for Sophia. Forgive me? Asks her to trace the VIN. She calls him unbelievable. So that's a no? LOL.

Ryan and Espo update Kate. Bust in on an apartment and no Mathis. Why would the Saudi want him to kill Ana?

Castle calls the DMV. As Det. Ryan. He has Ryan's badge number memorized. The Danbridge Group owns the limo. No one answers the door, but the garage is open. He sees the limo and looks in the windows. Door is unlocked. He looks for the purse. Not here. Someone gets in the driver's seat and locks the doors. Drops the privacy screen. Give me your phone. You and I are going for a ride. Castle with a gun pointed at him again, heh.

The man asks Castle why he was in the limo. I was looking for a purse. Whose purse is it? Ana's. Man says Ana didn't have a purse when she got in. Man says I need to know what you know. Ryan and Espo burst in. Castle? What are you doing here?

Kate tells Castle he was very lucky. Tell me where you're going and what you're doing. That's not fair. Ryan and Espo want floor seats to Knick games. Castle tells them Ana didn't have the purse in the car. She ditched the purse outside the Opera House. Kate leaves to interrogate Mathis.

You were hired to abduct Ana, weren't you? Nasif's people claim to not know you. Tell me what happened with Ana. He was hired to pick up Ana and bring her to Nasif. She refused to meet with him. She jumped out of the limo and he lost her. Don't know what happened to her after that. Kate says you murdered her. Your print is on her neck. He found her already dead. He checked her pulse. Killing her was not my assignment.

Castle talks to Ronnie again. Ana was right by the curb. By the trash can. And a bush. Castle finds the purse! Goes back to his office. Got the thumb drive. A stone falls off the purse. He looks at it under a magnifying glass. Sophia arrives. Castle, you gotta start closing that door! He says the purse is a fake. Diamonds are a knock-off. She pulls a gun on him to insist he hand over everything.

Castle stands. You were after the USB the whole time. You used me. You fired me knowing I'd work harder to solve the case. He gets the gun away from her.

Castle with Espo. I solved your case and my case and apprehended the killer. Espo says it was a prop gun. Harmless. Ryan says Tech looked at the USB. It's a dongle. A $100million bank account.

Kate talks to Sophia. Why was Ana in possession of a security key for that account? You went to collect the money and Ana didn't have the key, so you killed her. Sophia says Ana was her friend and partner. Ana wanted to create a network. The deal was almost in place. Ana had an investor and a real estate man. Nasif didn't want his daughter involved, so Layla went behind her father's back. She and Ana talked in the trailer in private.

Espo says they searched Sophia's trailer. A microphone was recording in Sophia's trailer. The producer bribed the sound manager to bug the trailer. He denies it. You were scene near Ana's apartment. You waited for her to come home and you snapped. He says he begged Ana to not leave and she refused. Never meant to kill her. He's arrested.

Sophia says the money was deposited in time so the deal is complete. She apologizes to Castle. Espo asks for an autograph. Gushes to Sophia. He's a big fan. Kate tells Castle he needs to go before Gates sees him. They leave for home.

Next ep - 2 weeks. Castle sees a murder but no one believes him. Feb. 2.
