Peggy is cornered and more vulnerable than ever as Leviathan makes their move against her. SNAFU is actually a military slang acronym meaning "Situation Normal: All Fucked Up."
Ep 7 recap:
Russia, 1943. A doctor is asked to surgery. They want a man to be hypnotized to not feel pain. They've run out of anesthetic. Man needs a leg amputation or he dies. The doctor guides him to a happy memory.
The doc is next to the Chief to watch Peggy's interrogation. Sousa goes through events. She's offended that he thinks she killed Krzminski. She tells him he's wasting precious time. There's a trained killer out there and someone's pulling her strings! Sousa leaves the room. Thompson tells the Chief that the agent is dead. The one hit by the truck outside the bar. Thompson asks what the doctor's doing here? Doc offers to go back to the office.
Thompson takes the next swing at Carter, then the Chief comes in. And Sousa. Thompson says this doesn't add up. Sousa tells Peggy that Stark has scrambled her brain. She tells them all that she's never been with Howard Stark. He's not the man you want. I've been conducting my own investigation. Chief asked about the ball holding Steve's blood. Then asks her about Finhau. She wasn't there. She says I was never more than what you all created. You're behaving like children! And this is shoddy police work. you should be looking for Dottie!
Dottie buys a baby carriage.
Thompson tells Peggy the deal is off the table. Peggy, you know what I'm capable of. She says you know what I'm capable of.
Jarvis walks into the building! Asks for Chief Dooley. I've been here before for questioning. Tell him that Edwin Jarvis is here with a signed confession from Howard Stark.
Peggy in cuffs to come to Jarvis. She asked what he's doing here. Jarvis says Stark has come clean. Where is the man himself? Jarvis says somewhere over Greenland. Peggy asks if she has a say in this. Chief says she's had enough opportunity to talk. And you stay here with her until Stark brings the signature. When Stark walks in, she walks out for good. Carter, you're out of SSR.
She cleans out her desk. Jarvis apologizes. She is irritated about the confession. But ..... Howard did not write the confession. Jarvis did. He couldn't get hold of Howard. I panicked. She says when Howard doesn't get here, we're sunk. Tried and hung!
Chief on the phone with his wife. Asks to come by for dinner with her and the kids. Doc asks him how he feels. Chief says I owe you. Doc says no, I'm happy to help.
Jarvis and Peggy watching the others.
Doctor signals Dottie again.
Peggy sees his hand and starts writing down the message. Prepare for evacuation. 90 minutes. Leviathan is coming.
She tells the Chief Stark isn't coming. And I'm ready to confess the truth. She tells them she saw the doctor communicating Morse code. We have less than 90 minutes. Chief says I'm supposed to believe you conducted this investigation without us knowing? She says I am invisible, that's how. She says there's one more thing. Shows him Steve's blood. The last remaining sample of Steve Roger's blood. Howard didn't trust anyone with it. She says I suppose I wanted a second chance at keeping Steve safe.
Sousa believe her. Thompson is softening, too. What do you think, Chief? He trusts Sousa's gut, so look across the street.
Chief asks the doc to close the window. It's getting chilly in here. Of course. Doc wants to discuss the Chief's family. And then starts trying to hypnotize the Chief. What would be the perfect evening tonight.... We cook together. I roast a chicken, the one thing I can cook. you shouldn't be by the window. Focus on your family. Your family is beautiful. Enjoy yourself and celebrate. Because after this, we have something very important to take care of.
uh oh!
Thompson, Sousa, and agents in the building across the street. They discuss Carter in the elevator. Thompson says shoot the girl to kill. Sousa gets out to search a floor.
Chief asks Peggy and Jarvis to come with him. Into a private room. And points a gun at them. Then locks them in it. Breaks a key in the lock.
Sousa is on the same floor as Dottie!
Chief comes in the lab and says there's been a security breach in here. Peggy walked out of the lab with this. Scientist says he can vouch for everyone here. Chief tells them all to get out. Doctor shuts the door and says that was impressive. He wants invention Item 17. Chief looks for it with him. Doc admires a vest. But he's looking for a crate. Dooley finds it. Doc opens the case and says yes, this is what I want.
Dottie opens the door and comes into the hallway. Sousa tells her to freeze. She kicks the gun out of his hand and they fight. He falls and recovers the gun, but she ran. Sousa radios that she's going down the stairs fast.
Chief and the doctor walk to the elevator with the case. Doctor gives him the vest. You know what to do. Your family is waiting. Focus. He takes the case and gets in the elevator.
Thompson finds a dead agent.
Doctor outside. Dottie pulls up in a car. Shall I proceed to the next phase? He says not yet. We need to test it. Thompson runs out too late.
Peggy and Jarvis still cuffed. He's yelling for help. She wants to smash the mirror with the table. Pick up the table and...wait, what if people are on the other side. What if they have guns? They smash the mirror. No people. Everybody wins. But we're still attached to the table. Thompson finds them. Where is Chief Dooley?
He's at home. His boy is painting something at the table. His wife asks why he's here early? He says I screwed up. I let a guy walk out of the building. She asks what are you going to do? He doesn't know. I want to come home. Can I come home? They kiss.
Dooley is unconscious in his office. He's wearing the vest, which is glowing. Jarvis tells them all the stand back. It's a prototype for armor, to double as a heat source. There's a self-sustaining battery, which overheats with violent, explosive results. Peggy says get the scientists!
Sousa finds the dead dentist. And Dottie's briefcase and the messages she took down.
Chief is hot. He says the doctor got in my head. You can't let him talk to you. The clasps can't be tampered with. Peggy suggests packing him with ice. Jarvis says it won't work. Scientist doesn't know what to do. Dooley says he does. He takes Thompson's gun. Tell my wife I'm sorry I missed dinner. And you, Peggy, promise me you'll get the son of a bitch that did this. Say it! She says we'll catch them. He runs out the window and explodes.
Poor Dooley....
Clean up in SSR. Tending the wounded. Sousa gets back. What happened? They got Chief. Peggy tells Jarvis I did this. This is my fault. Jarvis says this is not your fault. This is Mr. Stark's bloody inventions. Check the blood!
Dottie with the carriage in a movie theater. She covers her face with a cloth and releases a gas. Leaves the baby carriage. She and doc lock the theater door. And walk out.
Peggy and co check the vial. it's still there. Search every crate. Item 17 is gone. What's that do? Jarvis has no idea.
People still watching the movie. They start coughing. Then they all get violent on each other!! It's mayhem. A man and woman are late They and the usher find the locked room. All the people inside are dead.
Next week - season finale. Times Square is in danger. And every secret is revealed.
