THE RETURN OF DEATHSTROKE AND TOMMY MERLYN — Malcolm (John Barrowman) puts Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Thea (Willa Holland) in a dangerous situation that lands them on Lian Yu with Oliver’s former enemy, Deathstroke (guest star Manu Bennett). A flashback reveals when Oliver and Maseo (guest star Karl Yune) returned to Starling City to retrieve the Omega bio weapon, and despite being under strict orders from Amanda Waller (guest star Cynthia Addai-Robinson) not to reveal himself to anyone, Oliver looks in on his family, Laurel (Katie Cassidy), and Tommy (guest star Colin Donnell). Recap:
The Island. Oliver and Thea sparring with kali sticks. He's surprised she learned all this in 9 months. They eat dinner at a campfire. She asks if it's weird being here with me. He says this place reminds me who I've become. She thinks it's kinda cool we're here, like there are no secrets left. Did you ever think you'd see us again?
Flashback. Waller updates Maseo and Oliver. Oliver recognizes a man that works at his father's country.
Maseo bugs a car. Tells Oliver it's in place. We need to figure out where the auction's going to be.
Quentin in a bar. Laurel finds him. She says I'm driving you home. Bartender cuts him off, so he has to leave. Laurel pays the tab.
Oliver and Maseo watching Kang. Maseo says you'll have to get on the Queen Consolidated network. Oliver sees Thea.
The Island. Oliver is dreaming about Sara. Thea wakes him. She asks why you didn't tell me Sara died. He says I didn't want to upset you and Laurel didn't want anyone to know. Sara was in the League. She had her own secrets and they weren't mine to share. Did the League kill her? He stands to take a walk.
All the way to the underground prison. He opens the door. Looks for Slade, who has escaped! The guard is dead. Oliver hurries out.
Oliver runs through the forest. Thea says the fire went out. He says Slade is here! I was keeping him prisoner here. Merlyn calls Oliver. You let him out. Malcolm says you need to regain that killer instinct to survive Ra's. Oliver tells Thea what Malcolm did.
Flashback. Oliver watching Thea go to a grave. She talks to Oliver and her father's graves. Tommy scares off her dealer. He came to thank her for his birthday card and say my party is 21 and over as far as you're concerned. He's glad Oliver can't see her like this. Would break his heart. Thea says it seems like Oliver cares more from the grave than he did about me when he was alive. Except he did see.
The Island. Oliver brings her to a grave site where weapons are stashed. Hands Thea a gun. Notices Slade has been there. And Slade attacks them.
Oliver on the prison cot. Thea sitting on the floor. Slade says I have no desire to hurt either of you. He says 2 bodies will be left representing you in Starling City. Gonna leave you like you left me. Did your brother tell you about Shado? Welcome home, kid. He leaves them in the cell.
Flashback. Oliver in the office at night. Maseo asks if he's in position. Yeah. Look for a fingerprint reader. Oliver is in. Program should take 90 seconds. Oliver finds a file with his name on it. He downloads it. Maseo tells him to go. Oliver says I'm not done. Someone is coming - Felicity! She looks at the photos on the desk. He's amused at her talking to herself.
Maseo tells Waller that the auction is in 4 hours. Where's Queen? Checking on our weapons.
Tommy's party. Diggle is there. And his brother. They're security outside. Oliver sneaks in. Laurel finds Tommy. He thought she moved to San Francisco. Tommy spots Thea. Thought I told you this party is 21 and over. Thea asks Laurel how she is. Thea runs into her dealer, who hands her something. Oliver watches the dealer go upstairs, and confronts him. The guy recognizes him. Pulls a knife. And Oliver kills him and tosses the body over the balcony.
Island. Thea asks how many people are in this prison. Oliver says there's only one other inmate. And there is no way to get out. Thea asks what did Slade mean? Oliver says he's insane. She says Slade said you're keeping secrets from me. Is that true? You're hiding something. Stop treating me like a tiny, fragile object! Oliver gets an idea. These cells were made for fully grown men. Her arm isn't long enough, so he dislocates her shoulder. Oliver guides her arm around to the button. She reaches it. Door open.
Oliver and Thea run out. Malcolm would've told Slade about the plane.
Flashback - the party. Lance shows up after the cops. Tommy says there were a lot of crashers tonight. Lance chews out Laurel for being here. And then Thea. Maseo tells Oliver we're leaving right now. Laurel tells Lance you're embarrassing yourself. He says you took a sell-out job. You said you wanted to help people. She says this sermon might have more credibility if you weren't lit right now.
Maseo chews out Oliver. Oliver says I'm done with the mission. There has to be a way to shelter us from Waller. Maseo says if you want redemption, start with the lives China White could end. Think of what your family would think of you if you let them die. Oliver says my family is already ashamed of me. Goodbye, Maseo. Loved Maseo's line about the hoodie fooling no one, even if you smeared grease paint on your face. LOL.
Thea takes a different route and Oliver tackles her. Booby trap! His arm gets skewered. She says we need to rest a minute. Asks why you won't tell me about Sara. I can't ficus when you're keeping something from me. He says Malcolm killed Sara. Drugged someone so she wouldn't know what she was doing. She? She who? You killed Sara. Oh God, oh God....
The Island. Thea is upset. Freaking out. I'm an idiot. No you're not. Slade grabs her from behind. She takes the run from him. Oliver tackled him and they roll down the hill. Oliver beats on Slade, then Slade gets the upper hand. Thea and Oliver tag team him. Thea holds the pistol on him.
Flashback - Oliver at home. Sits in a chair. Uses a tablet to look at the video. His father recorded a message. Says I didn't save the city. I failed it. There's a book with a list of all their names. I didn't do this for my family. You can right my wrongs. Be better than I was. You can save this city. I love you.
The factory. China White's meeting. Several buyers here! Maseo photographs it all. ARGUS team creeps around. Makes a noise. Fire fight breaks out. And Maseo loses. 60 million.....going once, going twice. Another bid. Anyone care to make it an even 100. Oliver comes in shooting and saves Maseo. Sorry I'm late. Maseo says you arrives right on time. Oliver tries to stop China's car. It crashes. She gets out and he knocks her out.
Island. Oliver tells Thea don't kill him. What happened to Sara is not on you. What happens to Slade is! Malcolm wants you to be just like him. Prove that you're not. She fires.
Slade back in his cell. Slade tells Oliver your sister is lost. She's been touched by darkness. So now you've lost your father, your mother, and now your little sister. How's Felicity? How many people can Oliver Queen lose before there is no more Oliver Queen?
Flashback - Oliver and Waller. He tells her this is over. She says it's not up to either one of us. Army man comes in. General Shrieve. Got some news you don't want to hear. We need to debrief you back in China. But once that's accomplished and the Omega is secured, you can go anywhere you want. Sound fair? Yeah.
Tommy checks on Laurel. Your roommate told you you took a job here. Wanna tell me about it over dinner? Fine. Just dinner. Maybe drinks. Maybe.
Thea brings flowers to the graves. White roses.
Quentin leaves flowers at Sara's grave. Laurel finds him. She says Mom already knows. So you weren't worried about her heart, then. He's got a bottle. She says you wee mad that I didn't choose a life of helping people. You knew my life was heading toward that mask. He says you and I had something more than that. You broke that trust, that bond, and I don't know how you could do this. I don't know how I'm going to live through this. Daddy we should go to a meeting. He says yeah, but 2 different locations. Gives her the bottle. She opens in and pours it into the grass.
Oliver and Thea get home. She wants a shower. Says she's fine. He says you're not. Don't tell Laurel. It'd hurt the both of you too much. Does she know about Malcolm? No. it'd complicate things and despite everything he's done, we need him. Malcolm agrees. Thea confronts him. I trusted you. Let you into my life. How could you do this to me? He says it's because I care about you. She says stop! Stop using Ra's as an excuse! I will work with you to stop Ra's, so I will be your student, I will be your soldier, but never again will i be your daughter.
Next Wed. ATOM suit is together. Malcolm in Ra's custody.
