Skye is torn between her loyalty to S.H.I.E.L.D. and her connection to the Inhumans as tensions rise between the groups — and Coulson reveals a secret he’s been hiding from even those closest to him, on “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” TUESDAY, MAY 5 (9:00-10:01 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.
Episode 20:
Koenig sleeps with Star Wars sheets. Sam and Billy talk on the phone. Sam's off to work. He greets Coulson. 1 year ago. Coulson was looking for Gonzales. May thinks he's in London. Sam gives him a lanyard for Theta Protocol. They enter a hanger with a helicarrier.
Coulson with the Council. He says I failed as Director. A coup will make you feel that way. I tried to do it alone and that was a mistake. He proposes one SHIELD with me as Director and you advising. Gonzales says it's hard to argue with a man that defeated Ultron, but...
Simmons and Fitz watch Skye with Lincoln. Kara's been healed enough to have her mind her own again. She thanks them. She's happy Bakshi is gone. Power blinks. Uh oh.
Lincoln wakes. He sees the SHIELD logo and is afraid. Skye says you're okay. He says we only survived because we were a secret. Now SHIELD won't rest until they find us.
Raina giving prophecies to the other Afterlife inhabitants. Gordon says you proved your value to us. She says she's starting to feel at peace. Though sometimes it's hard to tell what's a vision and what's a dream. She saw a stone that's not a stone, and an ocean. Gordon asks if there were deep cavities carved in it.
They talk to Jiaying. It's Kree. Dangerous. Intended to destroy our people. Gordon could find it, but it'll be easier if Raina's along to identify it. They teleport to the ship. They're after the thing in the cargo hold.
They wander the halls. Hide when they hear May and Bobbi coming.
Jiaying asks Cal if Raina is dangerous. He says depends on your definition. He says Raina had nothing when he first met her. She was resourceful, but selfish. She wants all the time. Jia asks what does she want now?
Raina envies Gordon. He says you're gift is incredible. Hunter confronts them. They disappear. He hits an alarm. Gordon says we need to go. They reach the cargo. It's a movable stone! The door opens to Bobbi and May and Gordon and Raina are gone.
It was dug up a 100 years ago. Hunter asks if anyone knows where it came from or what it does. Nope. Skye doesn't, either. She says neither does Lincoln. She says they're good people, Coulson. He asks if they're people? What do we call them? Inhumans. We want to be left alone. We? May asks why they came? She says you're assuming it's a weapon. May says they're dangerous. Skye says so are you, May. The girl and her mother were Inhuman. You of all people should know what they're afraid of.
Bobbi says the cargo hold is secure. They followed the teleporter's signature. Time we paid our new friends a visit. Oh dear.....
Council discusses the Inhumans. Coulson says the last thing we need is to start another war. Bobbi suggests using Skye as a liason. May says now's the time to find out where she really stands.
Gordon and Raina update Jiaying and Cal is there. Cal doesn't trust Raina. You thrive on chaos! Jiaying tells them SHIELD will not take our legacy from us.
Coulson talks to Skye. He says you know how this works, you're a SHIELD agent. Skye says I don't know what I am anymore. Lincoln and I will go first and talk to Jiaying. She'll listen to me....because she's my mother.
Bobbi and Mack. Talk to Hunter, yet? She says he still won't look me in the eye. Mack says he's using me to piss you off, right? She says I don't know how to wear my heart on my sleeve like he does. Maybe something's wrong with me.
May misses her plane. Coulson says me, too. He tells May that Jiaying is Skye's mother. She says I'll tell the Council. Coulson apologizes to her. I don't care what happened in Bahrain. May says yes you do. The little girl.....it was her or us and I made a call. I would never have shot you but I should have stopped you. He says I never lost control. May says Skye is proof you did.
Simmons gives Skye the hula girl from the Bus. Coulson says time to go. Lincoln's up. He's been indexed. Coulson says you can trust us, you'll see. Skye says Gordon will find us...as long as we're nowhere near you guys. Coulson says okay. See you tomorrow.
Afterlife. Raina says Gordon! I had another vision. SHIELD is coming. Quinjets raining fire on us. Afterlife in flames. He says we need to tell Jiaying. Raina says no, that's how it starts. Jiaying can't meet with SHIELD! Then who? Maybe it should be me.
Afterlife. Jiaying has people packing. Gordon brings Skye and Lincoln home. Skye says we need to talk. Skye tells her nothing has to change. Jiaying says sometimes I forget how young you are. Skye says Coulson is a good man. The only person that tried to take care of me. Please, Mom.
Coulson makes a plan. Gonzales says you shouldn't go. You're too close to this. Ultron was created because people were blinded by Tony Stark. We're SHIELD and better than that, or should be. May says Gonzales should go. Coulson says I'll quarterback the mission, then.
Simmons and Fitz. She's going on mission. Fitz says you shouldn't feel bad about Ward. I wanted to kill him, too, and I couldn't. Means we're better than him. She says I did try and I'm kicking myself that I failed. Next thing he does is on me.
May and Bobbi go to scout ahead.
Mack comes to Coulson's office. I'm leaving. You can't be blamed for what happened to you, but you can't be trusted, either. Coulson offers to reassign him to the carrier. Mack says no. I can't be part of SHIELD with you running it. Coulson says I'm sorry to lose you. Quinjets in the air.
Cal tells Jiaying that SHIELD can't come here. She says I don't have a choice. He breaks something and apologizes. She asks can we trust them? He says I only know a few. Phil Coulson isn't my favorite, but he cares about Daisy. You have power here. She says to what, blast them out of the sky? My people won't blindly follow me into a war. He says I would. She likes that he hasn't faded with age. She says we can't lose our daughter to these people again. How can I convince them we mean no harm? He says give me to them. SHIELD loves having someone to lock up. Let me protect my family like I couldn't before. Please.
Bobbi says Mack quit today. Ever wonder what you'd be without SHIELD? May's been thinking about it. Bobbi says Hunter asked me to leave once. Closest I came to it.
Coulson says if I don't put my faith in the council, SHIELD will fall apart again. Hunter and Fitz aren't so trusting of Gonzales. Hunter called him Captain Ahab, lol.
Gonzales has an insurance policy. May says 10 minutes out.
May pulls a gun on Bobbi. It's Kara! They fight in the jet. It's descending. Bobbi knocks Kara out. The plane lands. Bobbi gets out. And gets shot. By Ward!! Where are they?
Simmons says there are a lot more Inhumans than we anticipated. May says touchdown in 5.
Raina and Gordon. She says I always knew I had a purpose. Where did you take Jiaying? Jiaying enters. You have used your powers to manipulate others. Raina says I'm trying to save us! Jiaying says keep her here until SHIELD is gone. Raina says something terrible will happen unless you do what I say!
Jiaying and Cal and Skye meet with....Gonzales. Skye is surprised. Jiaying says we'd like to return Cal to you. We pride ourselves on doing the right thing. Jiaying asks Skye to take Cal to the agents outside. Robert and I have much to discuss.
Cal tells Skye I was always excited to meet you. You really are magnificent. I'm really grateful I got a chance to know you. Skye says I'm glad I got to know you, too.
Gonzales says it's important you know we're not Hydra. He gives her a box.
Skye asks May what happened to Coulson? May says Gonzales is a much better man than you think. We needed someone objective.
It's a Chinese necklace. Jiaying never got a chance to give it to Skye.
May tells Skye I hope your mother is everything you wanted her to be.
Gonzales says sometimes good people get powers and sometimes the bad do. I'd like to meet your people and learn about their powers. We'll keep a record and be there to stop them if they go wrong. Jiaying has a gift in return. What makes people think they have the right to profile people? Fear.
Cal had vials on him. He shrugs when they ask what they are.
Jiaying says fear drives us to do what we otherwise would not do. We experimented with Terrigen crystals. The Diviner is harmless to us, but to humans, well.....Let's hope you're one of us. She breaks it. He turns to stone bit by bit. She says How dare you compare your scars to mine! Whitehall cut me to pieces. I'll NEVER let that happen to my daughter. He says you'll get everyone killed. You're crazy! His last words. She shoots herself twice after he's dead stone.
Skye comes running. Jiaying says SHIELD tried to kill me. This is war!
Bobbi is tied up. Ward tells Kara you did good. She says it was hard being away from you. He says closure's about digging in and doing the work. And then we'll kill her. He ices Bobbi again when she starts to wake.
Next week - Season finale. Inhumans vs. SHIELD. Skye has to choose sides. She tells May she's not welcome here.
