CAT AND VINCENT WORK TO REKINDLE THEIR ROMANTIC SPARK — Cat (Kristin Kreuk) and Vincent (Jay Ryan) take their relationship to a couples counselor (Saul Rubinek) when Cat gives into her work and suspects a wealthy transplant recipient of being involved with the mysterious experiments on innocent people in the city. Episode 4:
Cat and Vincent sit on a sofa. He says I'm really glad we finally decided to do this. Cat brings up a case. The man is a marriage therapist. How'd you first meet? Oh, um...... Flashback to first season. Cat says let's skip ahead to our fight. Vincent says it was a disagreement. Cat says no, you're avoiding it. bob and Carol tried to kill us! Wait, what? LOL. The counselor asks what caused this fight.
1 day earlier. Vincent on the phone with Cat at the hospital. He says it's been over 2 weeks and Bob and Carol haven't come after us. He's taken a double shift to make up for the time he took off. She asks if he's avoiding her. We barely see each other anymore. Vincent says 9 o'clock. And for the record, I hope this is a date night, not a case night.
Cat in Tess's office. Tess begs her to not bring a crazy case her first week as captain. Cat says the victim supposedly committed suicide by drilling a hole in her head. Tess says you have to respect my new position. It changes things. Cat knows. But someone's still experimenting on innocents. Cat thinks Marshall Zalman is behind this. A billionaire. Cat's taking Vincent to a fundraiser to check him out. Tess says this better not bite me in the ass.
JT takes his phone. Heather is there. He'll be right down. Falls down the stairs!! Ow.....
The fundraiser. Vincent and Cat look at Zalman. In a wheelchair. Vincent says this never really was a date, was it? Where is the superhuman, Catherine? Cat says maybe Zalman's behind the experiments to save his life. Vincent says don't you worry that all we do anymore is cases? And it sounds like you're grasping at straws. Cat goes after Zalman. Vincent tries to stop her. Cat asks Zalman about his donor. He says he knows nothing about the donor. Cat says she may have been murdered. Vincent says this is not a good time! Cat says as a cop, I don't have a choice. Zalman knew who the donor was, but he had no idea-- Zalman collapses. Vincent calls for a defibrillator. Cat calls for an ambulance.
Counselor says your fight caused a heart attack??
Oooops.
Did the man die? No. Cat says he was guilty of breaching the donor registry. Vincent says doesn't mean he was guilty of other things. Counselor wants to get back to the core issues. What did you mean by always having to save you? They say skip ahead. Counselor asks Cat about how she felt when Vincent said the cases are all they have now. She says angry. And it hurt. She says we're better together. Vincent says that's true. Counselor says we're talking about the symptoms and not the larger problem. Why weren't you working well together on this case?
Vincent brings Zalman into the hospital. The wife tells him to keep that detective away from him. I didn't sacrifice my life for him to not survive. If he doesn't I'll sue the NYPD and this hospital.
Cat and Vincent argue. Cat says the donor was sickly until she went through experiments to supercharge her immune system. Vincent says that could've been a genuine clinical trial! He says you're manufacturing a case. Last time we rushed in, we almost got blown up! Cat says why are you fighting me on this? Because he doesn't believe it. Ever since we got engaged, all you've done is take case after case. Cat says if I'm right about Zalman, there's no way he's getting April's heart.
JT says it doesn't make sense. He's on the phone with Heather. My bones broke, but they healed before I could go to the hospital. He tells Heather he has to take the other phone. Vincent tells him to slow Catherine. Cat is sending him a blood sample. I need to know if it's enhanced. Tess calls. Cat isn't answering her phone. He tries to put them all on the phone together. Then he hangs up, done with being yelled at.
Vincent and Cat run into each other. She says I'm trying to solve these cases to save you! Save you from going primal. Save us. Siren goes off. Heart is missing. Great....
Counselor says this whole thing is very unique. We need to untangle this stuff to get to the real issue. He says your obvious resentment for saving each other all the time.....Your lives are intertwined. Has it always been that way? Vincent takes her hand. You really love each other, don't you? More than anything. Then let's find out what's really behind this fight.
Cat and Vincent argue about why the heart was stolen. Go separate ways. Wife asks Vincent why this surgery hasn't been done. He says the heart is still in transit. She says I don't know what I'd do if I lost him. We're inseparable.
Cat on the phone with Tess. Find that heart before this case bites us in the ass. Copy that.
Cat arrives. Hears broken glass. Finds Vincent. Freeze, scum, hands in the air. LOL. He says closer I get, the weaker the trail becomes. It's like there's blood everywhere. Dead guy in a dumpster. 10 bucks that's the thief. Vincent says we have 2 hours to find it. We have to work together or Zalman dies. Cat calls JT again. He says the donor was definitely enhanced. Same leukocytes as my blood. JT says this woman's heart isn't alright. Supercharged her too much. Probably made her head feel like it was going to explode. JT hopes his antidote will work. I don't want to end up like the other victims. Get me the heart. Vincent yells for Cat.
Meat packing plant. No wonder he couldn't pick up the scent. The freezer. He opens it. She finds the cooler. They get locked in.
Counselor says you seem to be drawn back together whether you like it or not. Amazing.
Vincent and Cat hold hands again. Counselor asks if they know what co-dependency is. Yeah. Counselor says there are certain aspects in your relationship and I think that caused this fight. It's a good thing, you're chafing at it and don't like it. That's what brought you here. You have a special love. Don't lose yourselves even though you're better together.
Cat tells Vincent to beast out to break down the door. He says the door is thick. She says go full beast. He says really? She says now isn't the time to worry about my feelings. But I do appreciate it. I do love you, I love you too. Now blast the freakin door down, will you? He does.
Vincent and Cat with JT and the heart. Antidote works. JT is sure. Vincent hurries out. Cat congratulates JT, then runs out.
Vincent gives the heart to a nurse. Then tells the wife that Catherine got the heart back. Cat apologizes for being wrong about Zalman. Wife hopes Marshall survives. For all our sakes. Vincent and Cat bicker again. Maybe marriage counseling isn't a bad idea.
Wife tells a man we have to make sure my husband doesn't get the heart. Dun dun dun!
Cat and Vincent in the car after the session. Knowing the problem makes it feel easier to solve. She says there's something about the case.... She calls the counselor. About codependency? People can define themselves by their partner in destructive ways? Counselor says in extreme situations....yeah. Vincent says if she's behind it all, how do we know she isn't still trying?
They get to the hospital.
Wife and her men with the power. Make it look like a short.
Power goes down. Vincent says she must've gotten to the generators, too. Cat tells him to use Beast vision. He tells her where to go. And kick her ass.
Vincent goes in to help.
Cat confronts the wife and fights with her goons.
Doctors doing their best.
Cat fighting.
Vincent stitching.
Power on. Cat runs into the hall. Finds Vincent. We did it. Separately. She says and he said we're codependent. Those grins....
Wife in custody. Tess says she was found at JFK. Marshall will pull through. Tess says we can't keep doing this. I can't keep covering for you. This is what cost Joe his job. Cat knows, but what do we do? You know what's really going on. Tess says I don't want this Beast stuff to bite me in the ass. Cat says talk to JT. He's feeling....you don't want your life to be all about your cases, either.
Vincent with Zalman. Marshall thought his wife was happy. No idea she resented me like that. Vincent says it can happen to the best of us....not to this extent, but if you don't catch it early in a relationship.... You helped me catch it in mine. Marshall says you saved my life.
Tess finds JT at the bar. She apologizes. He asks where've you been? I've been scared and mad....not at you, but....God knows what it will do to me next. The antidote doesn't work on him. He tried it twice. Maybe the serum's been in my body too long. Tess says you don't have to go through this alone, hear me. You matter to me. She kisses him.
Cat awake in bed. Wakes Vincent. Let's close the window. Bob and Carol are still out there. He says you think closing the window will stop them? She says it'll take me time to adjust to not talking about it. He has just the thing to get her mind off it. They kiss. Sexy time.
Next week - Separate ways today. Doctor's orders.
