“No Way Out”
VINCENT STRUGGLES TO CONTAIN HIS INNER BEAST – Cat (Kristin Kreuk) and Vincent (Jay Ryan) face a huge setback when Vincent is secretly interrogated about an impending attack, putting Vincent at his breaking point. Episode 12:
JT and Heather. He says we need more money for a lawyer for Cat. Heather wonders how they'll pay for trial fees? JT says we're not. They have to leave forever. If we can find where they're holding Vincent.
Women's prison. Cat gets a visit from the agent. Tell us Vincent's next move, or it'll be conspiracy, too. Agent says it's about the other people Vincent killed and is about to kill. We have reason to believe he did and he's got another target. Cat insists there is nothing and he's innocent. They're setting him up! Agent doesn't believe it. What are you talking about? Agent says domestic terrorism. Life without possibility of parole. Cat is let out for a lawyer. She tells the Agent that she'll find out who's behind this.
Cat and Heather. Cat updates Heather. Heather is so sorry about what Kyle did. Cat says we'll talk about it later. I need to talk to Tess. Heather will take a cab.
Tess and JT on the phone. JT sold and borrowed and ..... Tess says if I told you I loved you, would you take it the wrong way? LOL. Tess can't find Vincent, either. Cat arrives, so Tess hangs up. They hug. Cat didn't know why she thought this would work out. We hesitated to get on that plane. We keep putting ourselves in impossible situations and I don't know why. It doesn't get worse than this. Tess says we're going to make it right. Cat doesn't know how.
Vincent in a cell. It's nasty. He's chained up and moved out. It's one of those places where they lock you in a room and throw away the room.
Vincent interrogated. He insists he'd innocent. He looks weak and beat up. Insists he's being set up. The man says my job is to find out your plan so we can stop it. Vincent says it's not me. They says last chance, what's the target? They know about the super soldier program. Vincent is injected. You're never breaking out.
Cat and Tess. Tess wants to talk to Agent Dylan. Cat doesn't want this to bring Tess down, too. Tess says this is about right and wrong, and I want to make it right. Got it? Got it. Cat doesn't know what she'd do without Tess.
Heather and JT in the hospital. Nothing can go wrong this time. Heather is mad at Kyle.
Tess in the office. Looks at the board. Sees an address. Dylan confronts her. Tess says she was looking for her files. Dylan says she sent them yesterday. Dylan insists Cat is dirty. Just like you if you don't do the right thing here. Tess leaves.
Vincent is getting tortured. The man keeps pushing him. Vincent flashes back to 9/11 as a young doctor. The man keeps pushing. Vincent has more flashes of memories. How many people did you kill to get even??? And you won't stop! The man mentions Muirfield, even. Admit it! Say you're a monster! Vincent screaming. I'm not a monster now! Not a monster, not a monster, I'm not....
**What a grueling episode for Jay!
Cat and Tess going to the apartment. Tess pulls the fire alarm. Can't have witnesses. They enter the crime scene. The person moved in a month ago. All the evidence makes Vincent look crazy. Tess thinks it's the other Beast. Cat says it's like he's turning all the things we've done against us. Tess says that's not important. Let's get Braxton's beast so we can save yours.
Vincent dropped in his cell. The man taunting him. You're never going to leave unless you tell me the target. You'll go to super max but at least you'll be alive. You love your wife, don't you? If you cooperate, maybe I can arrange a meet. She means everything to you, but you'll never see her again. She'll live the rest of her life scarred by you, but being married to a terrorist. think about it, Keller. He leaves. Cell locked. Vincent flashes back to early memories of talking with Cat. Wow, Jay looked YOUNG. The kisses, falling in love, the proposal, the wedding.....
Heather and JT. She's freaked about what they have to do. Best case scenario is I lose my sister forever. Tess and Cat get back. We have an idea. Find the other Beast. The 4th cabal member. If we can figure out who that is, we'll find out where the attack is. JT says only a Beast can stop another Beast. Cat says you're saying we just give up? No way. She leaves. Heather chases after her.
Cat in the cemetery. Heather asks if she wants to be alone. Vanessa's headstone. Heather asks why are you here? Cat says because everything changed the night she was killed. I sure did. Heather says you got justice. You took down Muirfield. Cat thought so, until Braxton. This is not about Kyle. He was trying to protect you. This is about me. She's crying. This is about how I kept fighting for justice long after I had it. I felt like I had to do more. It was never enough. I could never fix this. I could never bring Mom back. And now I might lose Vincent, too. heather hugs her.
JT's place. Tess pacing. Driving him nuts. She brought him a computer loaner. He repeats that we can't stop the Beast without Vincent. She hopes we get lucky. Stop the terrorist attack. He asks what about normal? She wants that, but they deserve better. He asks then what. She hopes we'll all get our happy ending. Back to work, please.
Vincent asleep. Hears Cat. Sees her. You can't give up, not now, not after everything we've gone through. He says he's losing his mind. She says no you're not. I'm always with you. We've sacrificed too much. It can't end this way. He says they think I'm a monster. She says you know better than that. We need to get you out of here. He's going over the case. Who would want to set you up and know exactly how to do it? He says somebody that knows my past and wants to cover their own ass. She says exactly. And disappears. He looks at the names scratched on the wall again. Son of a bitch. Climbs up, beasts out, and punches the ceiling over and over until water bursts in. He swims out of the prison. Up and up. Reaches air. Outside NYC. He swims for shore.
To Braxton's body. It doesn't have a head.
JT figures the 4th member is a crown prince. Cat and Heather arrive. Cat suggests Secret Service. JT and Tess disagree. Vincent arrives. There's no beast! It's Braxton. He's alive.
**Whoa.................surprise!
Vincent in the bathroom. Cat brings coffee. He's just staring at the mirror. She asks if he's alright? Yeah. She asks what did they do to you? He says they tried to get me to confess. Don't worry. They didn't break me. Thanks to you. Braxton has to be alive, there's no other explanation. Come on.
JT confirms it. Vincent pours alcohol. They go over why Braxton did all this. He had his exit strategy from the beginning. We have to prove Braxton is alive and behind it all. Heather asks how we find this maniac?
Tess cleared the building. Cat and Vincent in that apartment. Heather on the street. Cat tells him we can't let things go. He's been thinking about it, too. We keep trying to make up for everything. She thinks we've done a lot of good, but it's cost us, too. He says then we stop trying to fight every damn fight. She asks if he can track Braxton? He's trying. Focuses. Strange. It's like he keeps coming and going, planting new evidence. Somehow he's closer than we think.
Heather calls. Braxton just came out of the building! They tell Heather to stay put. But Heather follows him. She catches up. There's a gun shot. Heather apologizes to them. Vincent tells Tess to go after Braxton. Heather tells Vincent to go, you can't get caught again. Cat agrees. He gives instructions and runs as the paramedics arrive.
Hospital. Cat with Heather. Heather wakes. Cat wipes tears. The bullet missed everything important. Braxton got away, but so did Vincent. Heather says this does feel never-ending. Cat says I'm not mad at you, and I'm not mad at Kyle. Neither is Vincent. Promise me you'll forgive him. Heather asks her to promise to say goodbye before you go away. Cat kisses her head. Of course.
Bar. JT and Tess. He asks about Mr. ADA. She says none of his business. He says he wasn't your type. You need something different. Someone that keeps you guessing. Makes you laugh. She asks if he'll be okay with whatever happens next. He says as long as Vincent and Cat get through alive, yeah. It'll work out. It has to. She'll hold him to it.
The 9/11 Memorial. It's so pretty. Cat and Vincent there. She thinks they should keep moving. He says no. Not everything the interrogator said was wrong. They know they have to stop Braxton before he does something major. She says it has to end one way or another. We've come full circle. He holds her close.
Series finale next week! There's a bomb.
