"Orientation (Part One)"/"Orientation (Part Two)" - Coulson and the team find themselves stranded on a mysterious ship in outer space, and that's just the beginning of the nightmare to come, when "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." returns for its highly anticipated fifth season with a special two-hour premiere, FRIDAY, DEC. 1 (8:00-10:01 p.m. EST), on The ABC Television Network, streaming and on demand.

Episode 1:
Children's drawings. A man in a kitchen, walks out to the pool. Swims. No expression. Sits on the bottom. Fridge only has jars of something. His skin is tossed aside when he goes in the shower! That's an alien silhouette. He then dresses and drives to a hangar. White commercial fan. Man shows him various designs to put on the side. Inside the truck are a bunch of guys in tactical gear. Bald alien in the suit given a device. They're all on comms. Truck heads to....
Rae's diner. Where the SHIELD agents gathered to eat. Lights set up outside. Tactical team kills power in the building and goes in. 2 outside. One guy is chatty. My wife thinks I'm at a friend's house for a fantasy draft. Doesn't even occur to her we're in the middle of the season. Our team is wheeled out on dollies. Fritz left behind. Lights back on the diner.
The agents are thawed out. Coulson asks if they're all alright. There's a monolith. it melts and takes them.
Space! Asteroid belt. Coulson looks around. Time is frozen. there's a hole in this place to space. Stuff and men caught mid-action of being sucked into the vacuum. Coulson grabs onto something. Another man closes a blast door. He and another guy bicker over blowing the window. We're safe. Quit howling. Coulson stands. Hi. Don't shoot, thanks. One man recognizes him. You're here, Agent Coulson of SHIELD, you've come to save us. There's a scream somewhere. Coulson is asked about the others. Don't know. The other man is grabbed by a "roach". Coulson wants answers. PLEASE. Walk me threw it like I'm a foreign child. Man tells him about the aliens they call roaches. Virgil is a True Believer. in you. Mac knocks him out. Oh, my bad, I see a dirty dude with a crazy looking gun, I act on impulse. Coulson tells him we're in space. Mac says makes sense, one thing we hadn't done yet.
YoYo and Simmons arrive together. Simmons here a minute before. Grabbed a breathing mask to be safe. There are several dead on the ground. Incan Mummy reference, LOL. Something drained their fluids. What sucks a human dry? Mac says aliens. YoYo hugs him. Simmons isn't happy to be in space again. No idea what kind of creature we're dealing with. Who locked them in?
Man with a mask sort of like Star Lord's enters the room with the blasted window. Looks around.
May arrives. But her leg was telefragged by a metal pipe! She pulls a dead guy closer and uses his belt to break the pipe.
Virgil is still out. Mac complains about Coulson not having his fancy prosthetic. Coulson says I'm not Inspector Gadget! He thought they'd be arrested. Mac says I'm out. We get through this, I'm packing it in. I'm not comfortable with the pace of our trials and tribulations. LOL. Simmons wants to apply the scientific method. YoYo says SHIELD doesn't have a Spear division in space? Always thought you people would have a base on the moon.LOL. Mac says he hit Virgil as hard as he could. Coulson looks through and finds a postcard. Mac says I should've been a fireman.
May pulls the pipe out of her leg. Something beating on a door!
Virgil finally wakes. We can't linger here. Coulson apologizes. Virgil knows Mac, too. All of you. Can I call you YoYo? No. Okay. He's sorry Fitz didn't get to make the trip. He's been studying their history for years. I always believed the stories were true, that you'd come to save us. Who? Humanity. He's grabbed by a roach! Can't let that guy finish a sentence. They run. Roach alien chases them. YoYo fires at it until the gun goes click. Daisy saves them!
May hiding. Sees the mask guy. He searches a dead man. Puts something in his pocket. Cuts something out of the wrist. Cleans his knife. Leaves the room. Then he's there to catch May! I've been looking for you.
May fights with him. He didn't want to hurt her, but the idea is growing on him. I deserve better than this. She says tell it to the corpses. He puts a device on her and sticks her to the wall. You pack a big punch for a small package. Wasn't trying to hurt you. She kicks him when he comes close. He gags her.
Daisy asks Coulson for answers. He says you know what I know. Not Ghost Rider? Nope. YoYo wonders if this is the Framework. Mac says this is magic. Asks for the gun. Daisy tells Simmons Fitz didn't go through the monolith. Simmons is thrilled he's not here so he can work on the problem. Daisy says we should find May. Coulson suggests splitting up. Mac says haven't you seen an alien movie? You know who the first picked off will be.
They creep together. This has to be the coolest we've ever looked. LOL.
May tied up. The man takes out his knife. You can't go 10 feet without a metric. Don't move. He stabs her wrist.
Team in another hallway. Simmons and Coulson wondering about this place. The tech of it. An old station. Mac says YoYo found something. A flare. They open the door. It's the room May had been in. Coulson spots the blood. And May's jacket. Daisy spots controls. Turning the consoles on. It's a colony. With English. Collecting ice for water reclamation. Simmons says they'll have a ship and we can use that to get a message to Fitz. Kree enter!
Team wakes. Mac and YoYo not in their cell. Daisy asks the aliens what they're doing with their friends. Whatever we want. Experiment? They know the rule, they broke it. He says humans will break, they always do.
mac and YoYo hanging by their wrists. Mac asks if they speak English. Of course. He says let her go, she didn't do anything. Kree hits him. He speaks Spanish to YoYo. And is hit again.
Coulson and Daisy and Simmons discussing. May and the man enter the cell! Spinning a story. Virgil is dead. Helping them to get released. Offers the guard tokens to take them off his hands. I have to get them back to Processing. If you come by the gallery for an hour or two, I'll make it worth your while, alright? They're released.
Mac gets hit again. More Spanish to YoYo. She tells him to shut up. But his Spanish is a lot better than it used to be. He studied with his daughter. Kree discuss what to do with him. Not good. We'll spare you to provide us greater satisfaction than killing you would. She will pay that price for you. They're freezing her hands!
Coulson and May catching up. The man was owed a ton of tokens by Virgil for this job. He's ready to bail because they can't pay. Daisy says we need help finding our friends. He says they attacked a Creeper. They're as good as gone. Only pilot he knew was Virgil. Coulson says we just wanted pie and now we don't know where we are or why, so... May uses the magnet device on him. They get the location for the trawler. Daisy goes to find the others. Deke says the Kree want what they always want - submission.
Simmons and May in an elevator. Too many Kree. Kree bred to kill, living within striking distance of Earth. They're planning an invasion.
May and Simmons arrive. Head to the trawler.
Daisy hears YoYo screaming.
At some point her arms should snap off.
Coulson asks Deke if the Kree is planning an invation.
Daisy attacks and they're free.
May and Simmons get in the trawler. How do we start it? Simmons finds the key in her pocket. That worked. May releases them from spacedock. Simmons has no words for the sight.
Coulson asks who built the place? Deke says humans did. What area of Earth? Wisconsin. Are you high, can I have some?
Fighting with the Kree. One dead. And the other. Mac checks out YoYo. Daisy looks into other controls. Use the Kree hand to gain access to the computer.
How to get above the debris field.
Deke says it's built 90 odd years ago minimum. He was born here.
Systems have been repurposed. Mac looks at the post card.
90 years ago, that's impossible. Deke puts it together....tell me how you were taken. When? What year? The monolith didn't send us through space....
May points to a blown up Earth. And a floating school bus.
the postcard says "Working on it - Fitz"
Simmons and May hit by asteroids. They're heading toward a big piece. Simmons turns it off. And back on. May says hang on. They skim a huge piece.
May and Simmons back to Coulson. We have to find our own way back to 2017. Deke says you want me to help? All I can offer is these. Blend in and work hard and you can't do either without these. Come on, keep moving. A woman charges in. Coulson says sorry, Virgil's gone. She asks Deke if it's true. Roaches got him on 3. Sealed level. He hired me to hide these people. The people from the past? I think you're looking at them. Look at their clothes. Not locals. Coulson has a shiny quarter. Woman says this is too weird. Virgil says you'd be Agents of SHIELD. Coulson says pleased to meet you. She says there should be more of you. Deke wants out of this. She wants to double the price. He agrees to find the others.
Reaches them. you killed a Kree? Two? We gotta cover this up. Mac suggests leaving them with the other bodies.
What happened to Earth? Good question. Everyone has a story. Some cataclysmic event. Kree showed up. Destroyed all historical records. Books, etc. People here, they survive. May says welcome to the end of the world.
Woman informs them about this marketplace. Elders said SHIELD would come and help us. Kree wiped them out. Only Virgil believed. May asks why do you fight them? Woman says we depend on them to survive. Kree sometimes take people to their levels to serve. May wants to fight. The woman will take Coulson to Virgil's room. Tells Simmons and May to keep their heads down and blend in.
Mac and the others in an elevator.
Woman asks Coulson about Earth. Sharknado isn't real. Fiction. A movie. A man calls for Tess. Trawler went out. She says we were training a new pilot. Virgil's dead. Man says shame about him. Didn't trust him, but I liked him.
Dragging the Kree bodies to the roaches level. Shut them in a room. Roaches can be heard. Daisy, shut the door. Deke says pretty name, like the flower? Daisy not impressed.
Coulson and Tess in Virgil's room. He has a lot of memorabilia. He asks if the surface of Earth would ever be livable again. She says no. Only roaches. Virgil grew plants. Coulson finds a booklet. Flight log?
May and Simmons. Advanced aliens and humans in the dark ages. Something happening. A Kree woman enters. Food is given to the most vulnerable today. People fight over shares. A man is stabbed. Balls are sent after another man by the Kree woman. Simmons wants to help the stabbed man. Cauterize the wound. Kree watch. Take him away. And Simmons. May and the Kree woman glare at each other.
Team reunited. Except Simmons. Deke and Tess step aside and discuss what to do. The fears. May and Coulson tell Daisy there is no out. Mac tells Daisy and YoYo to keep their powers under the radar.
Deke tells Tess to get them to blend in. Tess returns to the team.
Simmons brought to a spa? She asks about the injured man. But she's only told to undress and bathe. The Kree woman is ready to punish if she doesn't Simmons then taken to a man tending a tree. So, you're the woman who saved a life.
Daisy following Deke. And he's gone. She finds a loose panel door. To.... a drug den? She finds him. Puts her under some kind of machine light. She passes out. And wakes outside a building.
She stands up. Empty city. A Framework. Sees Deke go in a place.
Simmons and the Kree. Pretty. but more doormouse than medical practitioner. Do you have a name? Jemma. Where are you from? Processing. Good we had you bathe. Where did you learn your skills? My mother taught me. How resourceful. Did she teach you about meddling in my affairs? Jemma says I only did what would make you happy in the end. He says that's the superior answer. Tells the woman to tell the guards to give them air down there. He thinks humans are inelegant. But you... Offers her fruit. Your metric is gone. She says I removed it, I'm sorry. No scar. A pristine canvas. Such marvels make me wonder if you're from the place as tough as Processing. He wants to check on his servant and see how he's fairing.
The team. May distracts Tess. Coulson will release steam or sewage. YoYo runs. Steals a tablet. Siren. Kree say remove the children. Expose your metrics. YoYo suggests putting the metrics on. Coulson wants to make a trade with the grumpy man. Working Kree tablet, I'll trade it for 3 metrics installed. He'll hook them up. You'll work for it and it won't be fun. Gets them inside away from the Kree inspection.
Deke in a bar. He programmed the bartender. Deke tells Daisy to have a beer. She'll pass. He has no idea what beer tasted like. She says you're pimping out the Framework? He didn't call it that, but yeah. Deke rebuilt it from scratch. Datas, servers, etc. She calls it a creepy opium den of fantasy. Trading one prison for another. He says prison would be nice.
Tess and May. See the Kree checking metrics. It's a renewal.
Metrics installed in Coulson, Mac, and YoYo.
What's a renewal? Like owed. A life spent, a life earned. Some of them turn red. People panic. Some run for the shotgun. A man firing.
Coulson asks what's going on out there? A life is owed. The man magnetizes them to the wall. If someone gets in, they find you first.
Firing in the halls still.
Mac threatens the man. YoYo jokes about an ax. LOL. Man with the shotgun comes in. Looking for the guy. You owe me a life! I left you 3 out there. May attacks him. Cavalry at work again. He says I'm sorry, I owe a life. Tess shoots him. May says he didn't have to die. Tess says somebody did. Kree come in for the body. Check their metrics. The grumpy guy vouches for them. Carry on. What a lovely place. Mac says it feels like humanity was lost a long time ago.
Simmons asks the wounded why he's on his feet. Kree agrees. Look at the wound. Will it heal? Of course, but it's barely been hours. But it will scar. She says it will look much better with time or procedures. Kree says my servants must be perfect. But there's a cut on the man's face. I demand perfection. He's now marred. Kree woman kills him with the floating balls. Simmon grieves. A life taken, a life earned. Kree wants to cultivate her, but you must learn silence. Puts something in her ear! And now she's deaf!
Deke and Daisy. Arguing about rescuing Simmons. Kree love this operation. Deke says I'm improving people's lives. She says they enjoy making people placid. he says the boat sank! Do you understand that? Extinction. One wrong move and mankind is gone for good. Daisy is on the news! Quake. Want to know what can tear a planet apart? It was you. You think you can put the pieces back together? you think you can save mankind? Give them a world of justice and freedom. Make peace with it. Surrender and make this your home just as it is. SHIELD tried to save the world. Want to see the consequences? Deke shows her Earth outside. You want to save the word? It's too late. It's already been quaked apart.
His monologue played over the rest of the team coming to grips with the world around them. The grime, the horror, the despair.
Simmons in her new role. Painted and dressed. She can only hear the Kree leader if he wants. Guests arriving. A ship outside.
Next ep - Daisy and Deke at odds.
This season - to save the past, they must defeat the future.
