“The Scorpion and the Frog”
THE BIG HEIST – Feeling as if they are running out of options, Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) agree to steal a mysterious trunk belonging to a demon named Barthamus (guest star David Cubitt), in exchange for a locater spell the Winchesters can use to track down Jack. Episode 8:
Cambridge, England. Woman enters a building. Fancy museum. Closing in 15 minutes. She takes a stair down to staff only. Tries a code. Doesn't work. She breaks in. Looks for a scroll in an archive. Written pages. Takes them out, puts them in her bag. Security catches her. Black smoke. Enters the guard. She collapses. Demon leaves with the purse. Another meets him outside and takes the pages. Puts them in his coat. How will Asmodeus reward us? Guard demon is killed. Other man calls Dean. I have something you might be interested in.
Sam and Dean. no Ketch. no Jack. Phone rings. The man. What about your nephilim? Word on the street says he's gone rogue. What if I told you I had a way to find your boy? Tells them where to meet.
Sam and Dean on the street heading to the diner. Sam wants to hear the guy out. They enter. He's sitting in a corner. Stands for them. Bart's fine. Please, sit. I've been following your careers a long time. Natural disrupters, we have that in common, you and I. Gives Sam the Nephilim tracking spell. It's real. Why us? I'm a crossroads demon. Now THE crossroads demon. Sam says nothing's ever free. What's the catch? A favor. He'll hand over the other half of the spell when the job's done. He collects rare supernatural objects, including something of Bart's. Find my property and bring it back to me. Farm is warded. Only person that can open the vault is a man that's been to Hell and back. Dean. Blood has to be straight from the tap. Bart says there will be curve balls and you boys hit those right out of the park. Shrike uses his own blood to get in the vault. He's a sadist, a murderer. Dean asks what does he have of yours? Bart says it's important to me. Sam says not good enough. Bart will give the spell to Asmodeus if they don't play. He trusts him less than the Winchesters. You get dibs for now.
Dean has seen this movie too many times. Sam says we screw him over first. Let's do this. Hand over the other half of the spell, then we kill him. They rejoin the group. Sam says finding the vault will take time. We need a distraction. Bart says Shrike will never see us coming.
Luther already talking to a rep from Asmodeus. He chants on a devil's trap to get rid of it. I don't take orders, I give them. Anyone comes at me, I'm ready.
Nice looking farm. Sam talks to the security system. Dean picking on Smash's shoes. Gates are warded, even. Allowed in. Slowly drive between the trees. Sam stops and lets her and Dean out. Dean opens a barn. Makes a sigil in the dirt. Smash drinks Nerve Damage. Dean says I lived on that as a kid. Didn't know they made it anymore. Ebay. Huh. She gives him one. Wow... So, safe cracking. So, hunting. He says working for demons is not a smart idea. Neither have a choice. She asks how long a demon summoning spell takes. Dean does so and Grab arrives. Vault room is hidden under a cloaking spell. Dean's blood is a dousing rod. Vault compass. What now? Grab chants Latin. And.....Dean's arm flies around. He's pulled along lol.
Sam served homemade gin. you have a very impressive collection. Sam says this is a Gorgon tooth, not a basilisk fang. Still cool, though. I'd love to see more. Shrike says stick to business. What have you got? Sam brought the demon killing knife!
Dean hates this. And I hate you? How long will this take? As long as it takes. Dean pulled along again. LOL. No lock on the cellar. Smash opens a door. Grab doesn't want to go. On you, hand puppet. Dean looking in the mouth. There could be spiders, blades, snakes. Spiders. What if I cut myself on a piece of paper and we throw it in? LOL. Puts his right hand in. A clockwork mechanism grabs him and a drop of blood falls. Pricked his finger. It opens. Dean sucks on his finger. Arrow fires Smash. Grab gets stabbed by the demon knife. Smash knees him and runs. Dean asks about Sam. Shrike says alive. Dean takes out his gun. Fires when Shrike comes forward. Sam says Dean, he's immortal! Dean hits him and knocks him out. Good thing he's got a glass jaw.
**Tie him up now, guys. With zip ties.
Dean tells him how it is. Tell us how to get pass your boobytrap. Shrike says you'll never figure out that riddle. Even if you do..... Dean duct tapes his mouth.
Smash reaches the gate. Bart there. She tells them everything went sideways! He's not willing to renegotiate her deal. She'll do another job, just tell me what to do.
Sam says we walk on the tiles in a specific order. Dean says we wing it. Sam says like Entrapment? These are pressure-released darts! He watched it for Catherine Zeta Jones. Heh. Sam gets a crazy idea. Push shrike on a chair. He's immortal after all. that's a LOT of darts. Dean thinks that was awesome!
Shrike tied up again and pissed. Smash returns now they're at the safe. Sam says you made a deal, sold your soul. She works for Bart so he never collects. They offer to help her. You can't. I've gotta take care of me. She starts on the safe. Shhhh! She's in. Let's go! Mahogany chest is heavy.
They get it in the car. Daylight now. Drive away. Up to the gate and on the road. Is Shrike in a truck. Dean backs up. Shrike chasing. Sam shoots a tire of the truck. Get out of the truck! Shrike says Bart is pure evil. What he did to my son.... I traded my life for his. he got better. Then died anyway. He drowned. Bart says accidents happen. He negotiated a new deal. Leverage. Look in the trunk. Tosses the key. Sam opens it. Bones! Bart's bones. Burn them, he dies. That's my leverage. You're on the wrong side of this, boys. Can you live with that? He's beheaded! Luther, you never should've left the house. Now they face off with Bart.
Trust me, he had it coming. He didn't read the fine print and I'm a businessman. Alive. A little something for a job well done. And for you boys, the spell. You earned it. Sam? No. Bart is surprised. Dean says we don't like you. Bart grabs her. Give me the bones and she lives. Or I snap her bones like kindling. Dean says okay. Slide it over. He releases her. Bart says you couldn't make it easy, could you. She's sorry. Dean says it's alright. Take care of you. Bart tells her chop chop. She spots the lighter and lights up the bones. Bart burns up. The spell page burns up.
**Sam, you don't blow on fire! You smother it! Well, at least Asmodeus doesn't have it. And the boys do have one page. Maybe Cas can help complete the spell.
Bus depot. Dropping the girl off. She thanks the boys and apologizes. you didn't have to do that. Thank you, seriously. See you around. Dean says Alice....stay weird. She leaves.
Night at the bunker. You okay? Sam says not really. Beers. We did save somebody. Sam says back to square one with Jack. Dean says we'll figure it out. We keep working because that's what we do. Sam says it feels really good to hear you talk like that again. Dean will drink to that.
