"Level Two"
RULES ARE MADE TO BE BROKEN — Oliver (Stephen Amell) makes a drastic move in his quest to find Diaz (Kirk Acevedo). Like her husband, Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) pulls out all the stops to get to Diaz. Meanwhile, when arsonists target Rene’s (Rick Gonzalez) community center, injuring Zoe (guest star Eliza Faria) in the process, the mysterious new Green Arrow swoops in to help save the day. Faced with pressure from the mayor to capture the vigilante, Dinah (Juliana Harkavy) must decide if following the rules at all costs is the best plan to keep the city safe. Episode 4:
Level 2. Oliver in a cell with flashing lights and ringing sound. Man comes and turns it off. Chief Psychiatrist. No food or water. You are a danger to other inmates and yourself. It will be just the two of us for a while. Oliver says I'm not crazy. Doc says what is your name? you know my name. Please answer the question. My name is Oliver Queen.
Oliver keeps pressing to find the person with the connection to Diaz. How will you use them? By hurting or killing them? Doc says everyone here has a chance at redemption. Even you. Oliver says I don't need help or redemption. How many people have you hurt? Have you murdered? Oliver says I'm trying to protect my family. Doc has the photo. Hands it over. They seem like a lovely family. We'll unpack this more later. He leaves the cell.
Felicity asks Silencer where is Diaz? No food or water and heat on blast. Silencer says you don't have the stomach to do what it takes. Felicity and Rene argue about torture. Rene learned the lesson. Evil for evil. Felicity says you gave up Oliver's identity. Diaz hired her and he won't stop coming unless we're all dead. Rene has to leave to meet Dinah. Take a break and we'll handle this later.
20 years in the future, Roy and William get to Star City. Coordinates change. Let's see where she wants you to go.
Community center. Zoe goes in the office to study.
Man making bombs.
People confronting Dinah about the lack of police presence in the Glades. Rene says she's trying to help. Let's all be reasonable. Folks think things were better off with the vigilantes.
Bombs in the vent. Lit the fuse.
Smoke enters the room. Dinah spots it. Fire! Fire! Make your way to the exit. Rene has to get Zoe. Green Arrow saves her before Rene can get to her in the burning room. Green Arrow on the roof sees they're safe outside and leaves.
Mayor thinks the new Green Arrow is involved in the fire. Rene says it's a load of crap. He saved Zoe. She's in the hospital as a precaution. Curtis got her a Beebo. John's here, too. Let's let her rest. So, who started the fire? Dinah says it wasn't Diaz. ARGUS alerts John, so he and Curtis have to leave. Rene tells her the Green Arrow is not who you should be looking for. He saved Zoe's life. Let me help by finding the guy who really did this. that's my kid, D. I became a vigilante for her. Her mother died on these streets already. Dinah says my job is to catch whoever did this and restore faith in the police. I ask you to have faith in me.
Sound and light torture for Oliver again. Doc comes to visit. Oliver says good morning. Doc is impressed he kept track of time. Oliver says I'm not answering more of your questions. So Oliver is injected. Doc says you don't have to fight anymore. When was the moment a playboy son of a billionaire became the Green Arrow. What do you see? Oliver is with his father on the life raft. His bodyguard was there, too. Robert shoots himself in the head. Survive. Right his wrongs. He sacrificed his life for mine. Would you please stop? Doc says a father provides his children his legacy. What became of Hackett? Dad shot him. Doc says your father was a murderer. Oliver says he saved me. Doc says you're caught in his vicious cycle, paying for his crimes.
Felicity comes to Laurel's office. Got in by saying they're sorority sisters. Oy. You're actually practicing law. Laurel says she's doing this for Quentin. Felicity has a case she'll be interested in. Silencer. If someone captured her and kept her hostage, do you think the DA would be interested in justice? Laurel says you're a hell of a lot more interesting than I thought. Where is she?
Rene brings treats for Zoe. She says he should be out finding the perp. He gets an alert about a fire at the lofts.
New Arrow says he got away. John Cortez. Dinah arrives to arrest him. Rene intercedes and tells Arrow to go. So she arrests him.
**Hmm, the new Green Arrow looked to be about the same size as Rene. Using a voice disguiser.
**Roy - here or the future - what happened to Thea? No one's happy to think the happy ending she got to send her off the show is already taken away.
Light and sound torture again. Oliver is suffering. Doc back with more questions. You were meditating. Where did you learn to do that? Hong Kong. Who taught you? Oliver says his father made an impossible choice. Doc asks how would your son feel about his grandfather being a murderer? He pushes about Oliver being a bad influence on William. Oliver says everything I've done, I've done for my son. Doc says it's my job to point out uncomfortable truths. Listen to me. That promise to your father was made when you were vulnerable and desperate. It wasn't fair of him to ask it of you. Let go of the past. Only then can you spare your family. Oliver says go to hell. Doc says he's not responding. Prepare the machine.
Laurel brought to Silencer. Cat got your tongue? Silencer says you're in way over your head. Laurel disagrees. The only loyalty Diaz knows is to himself. He'll kill you without a second thought.
Rene called John. Dinah says he broke the law again. I can't make exceptions because he's our friend. We can't help anyone if the FBI arrests us for violating the immunity deal. John asks her if this is about something more? Family gets us through. Dinah says as much as I believed in Team Arrow, I had to move on. Be a different kind of hero for this city. John says I wonder if any justice is a 100% on the level. Even ARGUS. Sometimes vigilantes and law enforcement have to work together. He looked into John Cortez.
20 years from now. Felicity's office. William wonders why the games. She influenced me to go into the tech field even after all that happened. Roy says you're a lot more forgiving than me. William finds a system. Fixes it. And the wall opens. Guard says freeze! This is a restricted area. William makes a lame excuse. Vigilante takes the guards out. Dinah! You shouldn't have come back here, Roy.
**Dinah was wearing a hooded costume, but still using the staff. And she doesn't look aged much from the 20 years. Not like Roy. Meta perk?
Rene gets a visit from Dinah. You can't catch the arsonists on your own. But your intel was good. Help me catch them by working with me. He says you want to team up. She says not permanently. But right now being the rules might be for the greater good. He says that's something Captain Lance used to say. She goes over the case with him. Shell company buying the burned properties at reduced rates.
Laurel and Felicity. Silencer isn't chatty. Laurel can't try harder without killing her. Felicity wants to push. Laurel says Diaz taught me patience. Felicity says this is the me that fights back. Laurel respects that. But once you do this, it's really hard to get back to who you were before. Laurel says my father and my Ollie were murdered. I wanted revenge and I took it. But the darkness swallows you the more you feed it. I wish someone would've warned me before I got blood on my hands the first time. Play the long game. Use that big brain of yours.
20 years. Dinah has white streaked hair. Says the police would've killed them for being vigilantes, ex or otherwise. Roy asks what happened to Star City? It fell when the Glades rose. Glades erected a wall. No one crosses their borders. Police are hired guns. William looking for what they came for.
**Good grief. That sounded like the silliest thing EVER.
Oliver in the machine. Doc says don't fight it. Flashback to the raft. What does your father ask of you? Oliver sees himself and William on the raft. Dad, I'm scared. Oliver tells him everything will be fine. Doc asks what would you have told your son? Oliver says You're going to make it through this. You'll make it off this raft and have an amazing life. You're destined for great things. Promise me. Forget about me and live your life. Oliver says William, I love you. Live. Shoots himself in the head. Doc asks why did you tell him you love him? Oliver says he's the most important person to me. Doc says end the cycle. Do you see that now?
Dinah and Rene find the investor. Odd number of payments to Cortez. The Palladium. The go to the movie theater. Full of people watching a kung fu movie. Man alerts his earbud that they have company.
**Still rolling my eyes over The Glades making a dystopian Star City.
Cortez. Rene tells him hands up. Green Arrow shows up. They take down the perps. Bomb goes off and people flee.
Dinah finds the other. She takes a man down with her scream but another stuns her. Back to work. I'll take care of her. She takes them down then pulls the fire alarm. Sprinklers are damaged. Green Arrow goes to pipe and pulls it loose so the water pours on the fire. Rene gets the Arrow on its feet. Dinah says get him out before the police arrive. Which they do a split second later.
**It's an out there twist, but it'd be cool if the New Arrow was Lyla.
Rene at home. Knock on the door. Dinah. He assk if she's here to arrest him again. Not today. She came to drop something off for Zoe. A canary pin. She puts it on Zoe's shirt.
Doc visits Oliver. Have you come to any conclusions? Yes. State your name. Oliver says my name is Inmate 4587.
Felicity confronts Silencer. Laurel calls her upstairs. Felicity leaves the screwdriver. Silencer gets away. Felicity chipped her. Laurel says you remind me of the Felicity from my earth. She runs her own empire and she's ruthless. Once we find Diaz, we have to kill him. Are you prepared for that?
Rubiks Cube in 20 years. William says a cube in a cube. It shows a map hologram. The Glades. Zoe comes in! She's with the vigilante resistance. Rene wouldn't be caught dead in Star City now. William says Felicity sent the map. Dinah says I'm so sorry to tell you this. Felicity Smoak is dead.
Next ep - Oliver will be erased.
