“The Demon”
FELICITY DISCOVERS A SECRET ABOUT OLIVER; CURTIS GOES UNDERCOVER — Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) learns something new about Oliver (Stephen Amell) that shocks her. Meanwhile, Diggle (David Ramsey) asks Curtis (Echo Kellum) to go undercover for ARGUS. Dinah (Juliana Harkavy) works with an unlikely ally. Episode 5:
Oliver holding the photo. Guards tell him to get on his feet. Oliver sighs. Who are you? Your new best friend. Now, on your feet. Hold out your hand. This will be on you at all times. A bracelet. Dr. Parker says he's ready for phase 2. Which means you belong to me now. Where are you taking me? Down the rabbit hole.
Welcome home. Cells. A man is dragged away. Where are you taking him? Pray you never find out. Oliver sees the man that told him his wife is dead. Oliver asks when is visitation? Guard says there's no visitation down here. Forget about anyone on the outside. They'll eventually forget about you.
Diggle and Curtis debriefed about the Switzerland mission. Data we pulled from the bank pointed to an ongoing transaction. ARGUS has one of them in custody. But the buy is still going on. Curtis is needed to impersonate the chemist. Curtis doesn't want to go. Dig tells him you don't need to engage. We'll handle the package retrieval. Boss says it's an order.
Oliver wants to talk to the big guy. He keeps saying leave me alone. Then pushes Oliver. Then says it's an accident, I swear! The bracelet shocks him twice. The man begs to not be dragged away.
Felicity and Laurel. Tracing Silencer. Felicity's rambling. Blinking dot disappeared. Signal is fainter. Laurel tells her to go visit her husband. If not for Oliver's sake, at least for my own.
Oliver is attacked. They roll in the dark. Talia! I understand you've been looking for The Demon. She has burn scars on her face.
**About time we finally got back to Talia Al Ghul. Wonder how long she's been in there? And can she come and go at will? She was wearing the same prisoner garb Oliver is.
How did you survive? She says she's not so easily defeated. She ran afoul of an old foe in Gotham. Heh. He brings up all the games to get him down here. Where's Ricardo Diaz? She says she doesn't know. She barely survived Lian Yu. And only with a drug from Diaz. So she made a fair trade. Oliver says aligning yourself with Diaz was beneath you. She does what she needs to survive. You forgot that. You became the monster you always feared you were. Now she wants his help to escape. You don't understand what they do to people down here. They destroy them. We stood on the same side once. Oliver says you stood with Adrian Chase and my son lost his mother. So now I'm stuck here. You told me what to do with my father's list. There's no Oliver in here. I'm inmate 4587. You broke into my cell. Get out.
Felicity looking for Oliver at the prison. It's been 20 minutes and he's not here. Guard says his visitation privileges have been revoked. The little dude calls her over. She asks him to tell him she has a lead on Diaz. She says Oliver got sent down to Level 2. It's really bad. Where they send the worst of the worst. He says the guards aren't on the side of good here. I should go. Sorry about your husband.
Curtis meets the criminals. Speaks in French as the chemist. Ask about Mr. Byrd. They ask if he has more. Yes. Bring more to a meeting tomorrow at 8AM. John tells Curtis to agree to the meeting!
Curtis yells at him in the van. John says sometimes plans change in the field! You know that. Curtis says he's not doing that again. I'm out!
Laurel on the phone with the prison. Mr. Queen has 2 hours left of visitation this month. Felicity says something's wrong. Laurel says obviously. Sorry. I'm learning empathy. Felicity breaks in. There's no record of Level 2 at Slabside.
The big tall prisoner is dead on a gurney. Wheeled past the prisoners eating. Oliver and Talia exchange glances.
Oliver sits with Talia and asks what happened. In that room is where they reform you. Talia says the dead is one of the lucky ones. Dr. Parker is behind this. Keep your two sides separate or you become weak. She's surprised Oliver wants to help criminals. He says you had honor then. She says now all I care about is getting out of here.
Oliver asks the guard to see Dr. Parker. He's having a relapse.
Laurel and Felicity come to Dinah. We're working together and need your help. It's called empathy, Dinah. Look up Dr. Parker during his private practice. Felicity wants to go through hard copies in the archive. Whatever he's doing is not being reported. Please. Oliver's in trouble.
John and Curtis. John pushing Curtis to talk about his fear. Curtis says I don't have it in my anymore. Even Oliver couldn't run the risk of that life. I can't keep lying to myself. Being Mr. Terrific.....it's not me anymore. John says I've seen the faces of men that are done. That's not you. Mr. Terrific is who you are. I'll respect your decision to sit out the mission, but make sure it's the right one.
Oliver and Dr. Parker chat about the prisoner. Parker says the treatment is working. Oliver says the main reason I didn't do anything was that he was dead. I saw him wheeled out of the room with the blue door. Parker says setbacks are inevitable. Oliver says it seems more extreme than a setback. Parker says look what we've done. The world will be a safer place. Oliver says people are dying. What about them? Parker says that sounds like the old you, 4587. I thought you weren't that person anymore. Oliver says I'm not. Parker says focus on the man you need to be for your family. If you can't do that, we'll be forced to use other methods.
Records are a mess. Laurel asked the US Attorney to file a motion against Slabside to release records. Felicity rants about Oliver not having enough time. I didn't know what was happening to him in there. I should've visited more. I could've prevented this. Dinah tells here there's nothing you could've done. Stop blaming yourself. Felicity thought the worst was losing Oliver to prison. What if I lose him permanently?
**The way Felicity's lines are delivered is......annoying. With many other actresses, this stuff would feel genuine. Emily was out of her depths once they asked her to be more than comic relief. She only has one mode for dramatic reading: trembling her voice.
Oliver and Talia. If you want out, we go tonight. He wants her to help expose the truth about Dr. Parker. He wants to break into the blue room. We do this my way or no way. These people are being treated as disposable. No one deserves that. Ras' death was my fault. I couldn't see past what he intended for my city. I know you hate me. But I was your student once. We trusted each other completely. We need to find that trust again for both of us to get what we want.
John briefs the team. Curtis dressed to be the chemist again. What's the plan? Give Byrd what he wants.
The briefcase scans the building and the people. They'll launch the attack once Curtis hands over the case and gets clear. John tells him to hand it over and go. Byrd apologizes. A case is brought over. A bomb. You are a perfect fall guy. Curtis wants a countdown before he's killed. But he wasn't talking to Byrd. His case shoots the goons. Curtis disarms the bomb. Byrd was knocked out. John and ARGUS come in.
Oliver and Talia. She slices him. Attacks. I should've let you perish. He gets her controlled. Guard activates both of their wrist bands. Take them both to the room.
Dinah thinks they need a different approach. Felicity finds Parker's file. Malpractice suits. Experimental treatments. 10 files of malpractice. Goodman lost sense of identity and.... Felicity says they're going to erase Oliver.
Dragged into the blue room.
Oliver wakes. he and Talia are strapped to tables. Parker is disappointed in him. Oliver calls him a monster. Parker says we could've helped so many people. I misjudged you. I thought you were committed to breaking your family's cycle of violence. Oliver says if I choose to break the cycle, I'll do it my way. Parker says hold very still, 4587. Oliver grabs his throat. My name is Oliver queen! Takes down the guards. Talia impressed. Oliver goes to the computer. Talia grabs a drill. Takes off the bracelet. Alarm. His is off. Time to go. They're armed to fight their way out. Guards are subduing the other prisoners. One guard confronts them. Get back to your cells. They knock him out. Talia directs Oliver. Hall of guards. Think they realize they're outmatched? I think they're about to find out. They take down all of the riot guards. Upstairs to the morgue. Oliver blocks the door. Way out is down to the water. Only way out is through the morgue. Oliver says get this to Felicity. She says if you stay, you'll die. He won't be a fugitive forever. You were wrong back then. He gave the monster power. Separating selves was never the answer. She promises to get his wife the data and tell her her husband is as stubborn as ever. Oliver will hold the guards off. He uses batons. Then lets the guard disarm him. He curls into a ball while they beat him.
Oliver in a cell. Guards says time to go, inmate. Whole place is getting shut down. You're going back to Level 1.
News covers the torture at Slabside. Felicity is happy. Dinah wonders where the thumb drive came from. Felicity doesn't care. Laurel says Dr. Parker is getting his own cozy little prison cell. They then think the corruption at Slabside could get Oliver out of prison.
Talia puts a bracelet on Parker and shocks him. She attacks him with her sword.
Curtis and John in ARGUS. Curtis found an anomaly. There's a connection ARGUS doesn't want people to find. A painting. What's the origin? French 19th century. title is Dante.
Prison. Oliver escorted back to his old cell. Buddy tells him Felicity will be happy you're back. I told her about Level 2. She told me she's close to getting Diaz. That's good news, right?
Laurel's office. She wants a pizza. Invites Felicity. Are you asking me out on a friend date? No. Silencer signal is back.
Moscow. Silencer and Diaz. Diaz has Anatoly!
Next ep - Laurel trying to free Oliver. New Arrow still saving the day. Anatoly not in a good spot.
