DIGGLE AND LYLA DEPLOY THE GHOST INITIATIVE — After months of covertly pursuing Dante, Diggle (David Ramsey) and Lyla (guest star Audrey Marie Anderson) finally have a solid lead on the elusive terrorist, so they deploy the ARGUS Ghost Initiative to apprehend him. Meanwhile, Oliver (Stephen Amell) tries to bond with Emiko (Sea Shimooka). Marcus Stokes directed the episode written by Rebecca Bellotto & Jeane Wong (#714). Original airdate 3/4/2019.
Episode 14:
Felicity running in the woods. Screaming that she can't find someone. Diaz finds her and raises a gun. She screams at him. He shoots. She wakes from the nightmare.
**God, that was over--acted nonsense.
Oliver leaves another message for William. Mailbox is full. Rene says he'll come around. Be patient. Oliver thanks him for the advice. Dinah has tried to check out of the hospital a couple times. Rene has something for Emiko. Oliver asks him to not encourage her vigilantism. Rene has the bullet that killed her mom. Oliver didn't know she was murdered. Emiko's been trying to find the killer ever since. This bullet is her only lead. There's a difference between trust and trust fund. Oliver admits he has to prove trust to her, too.
Diaz and Slade's sun sparring. China White joins in and Cupid shoots an arrow. Diggle comes in and scolds them. Lyla arrives. Virgil managed to evade us in Cairo. Still don't have Dante. Lyla says the longer this takes, the sooner it is that ARGUS finds out about the Ghost Initiative. John says we need to tell Oliver and Felicity.
Future - they think Mia is lying. They never had a daughter. She says she never told Connor. Let him go. Connor says John told him to keep her safe. I know who your father is. John Diggle is my adopted father. Mia didn't know. William says Felicity is not dead. Mia says she's hiding again, being paranoid like always. Did you check into her murder? Did you see a body? William asks where do we start? I've come too far to get sidelined now. We're helping each other whether you want to or not.
John with Oliver and Felicity. Ghost Initiative going after the target without ARGUS oversight. It's about who's in it. Ricardo Diaz. Oliver says let's hear what he has to say. John says Dante is a million times worse than Diaz. He has a bomb in his head. We're taking every precaution. Now she understands why Curtis left. Oliver believes that John would only do this with no other choice. Felicity says you're prioritizing your job over keeping your friends safe. She texts Laurel - Diaz is out. Time to finish what we started.
**Good grief. This chick never spends one minute running on reason. It's all emotion, emotion, emotion. And why the hell is Mia using Smoak instead of Queen if she's the kid Felicity is currently carrying?
Virgil. Financier. Convince him he should be in business with you. Joe says he wouldn't take my call. John says he'll take Diaz's.
Felicity and Laurel. She hacked the bomb in his brain and plans to blow it as soon as the mission is over. She tells Laurel to get within 100 feet and click this button to detonate him. Laurel isn't ready to give up being DA and get arrested as a murderer. Laurel figures out Felicity is pregnant. No one else knows. Not even Oliver. Don't tell anyone. Laurel promises.
Emiko's place. Oliver tells her snap her wrist next time. Gives it more power. I want to help. He had Felicity analyze the bullet. It was shot with a customized rifle. He keeps pushing. She doesn't want his sympathy. She wants justice. He says you're not authorized to get it. I am. My parents taught me the value of family. If someone hurt you, you better believe they've hurt me, too.
Future - Firing up the bunker. William looking for the eye witness to Felicity's murder. He committed suicide a week ago. And the coroner. Why not kill Felicity? Because she's needed. She told Mia to get out of town. Mia only cares about her mother and wants the team to leave her alone.
Former Triad bar. Where is Virgil? He says hello to Diaz. John tells them to convince him. Dante wants to collect on the debt. Longbow Hunters weren't cheap. Virgil has a coin. The bar rises. Kill them except Mr. Diaz. John tells them don't let Virgil leave! Taking out all the mercs. Diaz gets the upper hand on Virgil. Virgil dives out the window!
**Better to commit suicide than disappoint Dante? Or a death for the cause? Or was there a safe landing?
Back in ARGUS. Who tipped off Virgil? They think Diaz warned him. Lyla says you're afraid. You'd rather have a bomb explode in your head than have Dante find out you betrayed him.
Laurel brought a roasted turkey sandwich, veggies and fruit, and asks if she's taking prenatal vitamins. Aww. Monsters will target you and your family like they always have. You're more than capable of protecting your family. You hacked into Diaz's brain. You're kind of a badass. There will always be another Diaz. You just have to have faith you can handle them. This baby is lucky to have you. You've got this. If you want to kill Diaz, don't do it out of fear, because you have nothing to be afraid of.
No cyphers in the phone call. Lyla says we need to catch Dante before ARGUS intercedes. The coin has a microchip inside. It'll take a while to decrypt.
Oliver asks to help. Emiko says the algorithm is fine. And she wants him to stop standing over her shoulder. Rene arrives. Oliver says the weight on her arrows is strange. I made my own when I started. I could give you some tips. She wants him to stop touching her things. Oliver tells her she doesn't have a badge. We'll take care of this. Let's go, Rene.
SUV at night. A weapons deal. Rene and Oliver bust in. Emiko arrives. Shooting arrows into bad guys. Stops the dealer from running. Oliver arrests him. She says this is my mission, I need to question him my way! Oliver disagrees. You're breaking the law! She says the only thing she's done wrong is think she could ever trust him.
**Earth-2 Laurel is pretty cool this season. They're giving Katie some good lines. This Laurel has a self-confidence they never let Earth-1 Laurel have. And the wardrobe is sharper, too. Shame it took so many years.
Rene and Oliver discuss Emiko. Rene says she didn't ask for your help. Imagine if someone took over your mission. Oliver sees his point. Rene says she doesn't need anyone's protection. Just be her brother.
Future - Mia at home. Throws a glass at William. She tells him to save his breath. He just wanted to commiserate about how much our parents sucked. He never heard from them again after he went to his grandparents. Mia says being the kid they wanted wasn't sweet, either. He shows her the rock. Parents aren't perfect. They love us the best they can. Mia's mother told her Oliver was a hero her whole life. But this city points to the opposite. Was he a hero? William says he was. He thinks the rock led him to her. family was the most important thing to our parents.
John says we have a lead on Dante. Lyla got a call from the Pentagon. They're going to ask for her resignation tomorrow. She says we better make this count. Tell me about the lead. He says the coin was a storage device. Princess Noor needs Dante's money to fund her coup. We need to get into the embassy. And we have to put Diaz back in the field. She says we can't go in there without backup.
Oliver tells Felicity that John asked him to back them. It's her decision about Diaz. He says he knows why she's acting so strange. You're planning to kill Diaz. There's a better way. I think that. But that's my choice. I have no right to make yours. He didn't understand the pain she was dealing with. I want us to be able to move forward. I hope you change your mind. But if you don't, I swear I won't stand in your way. I have your back no matter what. She tells him to tell John he's coming on the mission. And so is she.
**Oh, great. The untrained chick pushing herself onto a mission where she doesn't belong. The "dark Felicity" story is getting really lame. Especially with multiple characters propping her up! Somehow it's okay for her to kill even thought she was the "no murder" chick for YEARS?
Embassy. Lyla. John. We have to move on Dante after the meet. Diaz says sure thing, Boss. She reminds him he's only alive to ID Dante. After that, all bets are off. Director Bell is here. SOB is Dante's source. Diaz says someone owes me an apology. Princess arrives. Emergency kit was missing.
Diaz? His signal is offline. Felicity gives directions.
Bell and Dante sit with the Princess.
Diaz shorted the chip out with the defibrillator. He comes to Diaz. This is a set up. He starts shooting. Dante kills Bell and the princess. Lyla says Dante is the objective, so go!
Oliver shoots at Dante and Dante cuts the arrow to bits. They fight.
Diaz kills someone in a corridor. Felicity confronts him with a gun. I'm not scared of you. I'm stronger than you are. Which is why I'm not going to kill you. John knocks Diaz out.
Oliver vs. Dante. Lyla comes in. This is over. Dante tosses knives and dives off the balcony. He's gone.
**Nice to see Adrian Paul again. Still cool. And he has experience with blades. ;) Took me a second to recognize him. Didn't see him credited. Dante's fight style is pretty cool.
John tells Felicity and Oliver that Diaz is staying put. He wasn't going to let him go again. He thought of her and protected his family. Lyla talked to the Pentagon. Oliver says we'll give you privacy. Agent Bell is getting a hero's funeral. John says I'll resign. I took out the Ghost Initiative without your consent or knowledge. We have no idea how far this conspiracy goes. Let me take this fall.
Emiko called Oliver. Rene brought the interrogation record. Oliver says least I could do. She says it's been hard to not see her as their father. Hard to trust him. He says then I overstepped. I've lost a lot. People. With you, I lost time. I wanted to get some of it back. But that was no excuse. I'm sorry. He's grown a bit over the years. Nice to see the grin.
Future - William and Mia comparing notes. Cube in a cube. Cube in a cube in a cube. It opens. A cassette tape. My grandparents had an answering machine that used these. Mia says this could be the key to finding our mom.
Green Arrow entering the residence. Heh. She's eating comfort food. You want to know why I didn't kill Diaz. I wanted to. I was ready to. Then I realized it wouldn't prove anything. I wanted to protect our family. But we need a fresh start in the light. I want our children to know we'd do anything for them. He says you said children. She says I'm pregnant.
Emiko training. Dante enters! Old friend. She says Oliver trusts her now. Dante says good. Timing couldn't be better. Time for you to come home.
Diaz gets a visit. He's rained on with gas and then set on fire with a lighter. Burns to death.
Next ep - The team is being instructed on police procedures.
