THE SALVATORE SCHOOL VS MYSTIC FALLS HIGH - As the Salvatore School prepares for its annual football game against Mystic Falls High, the latest monster to arrive in Mystic Falls sets its eyes on one of the students. Landon (Aria Shahghasemi) and Josie's (Kaylee Bryant) relationship is put to the test when a player from the opposing team catches his eye. Elsewhere, Lizzie (Jenny Boyd) enlists MG's (Quincy Fouse) help learning more about Sebastian (guest star Thomas Doherty), and Alaric (Matthew Davis) goes head to head with Professor Vardemus (guest star Alexis Denisof). Danielle Rose Russell and Peyton Alex Smith also star. Michael Allowitz directed the episode written by Brett Matthews & Adam Higgs (#203). Original airdate 10/24/2019.
Episode 3:
Truck in the woods. Mystic Falls High kids. We vandalize the Salvatore School every year. It's tradition. The boys don't want to follow the linebacker. QB says let's go. Linebacker says no. Do what you gotta do, Thor. QB and the other two leave. Linebacker grabs a paint can. Hears a howl. Gets rifle from the truck. And a monster attacks him.
Hope at the Mystic Falls the next day. Toilet paper everywhere. Sheriff pulls up. Maya in the car. this is my mom. We don't talk about it. And Ethan. Heh. Sheriff asks where she can find the principal.
The linebacker is missing. Ric will check with the classmates and teachers. He's still getting to know people here. She says please, no more stories about how great Sheriff Donovan was. His shoes are already big enough. She leaves her number. Call any time. Hope was on his chair. Says she's into you. Ric will talk to Dorian. Hope has one more idea. We'll both hate it.
It's time for the annual football match. Today, you will not be forced to lose a game. Every one of you is special and it's time you showed it. Use your powers in moderation. Not exposure. The goal is to win. Landon is quarterback this year. Landon's not happy about that.
MG comes to Lizzie about that. Lizzie doesn't care. She's focused on Sebastian. He's fishy. She's reading the monster book. this is way more important than football. MG says we need you at that game. She's mentally healthy for the first time in her life, so she's hoping Sebastian is safe. But if not, then the first person that asks. It's the year of yes. MG pushes for her to come along.
Landon and Josie practicing. She insists they'll get through this. She spells him to be able to throw. He tosses the ball and it sails over the students to land into the bus. Kaleb is impressed. Mystic Falls High kids come out of the bus. Hope and Ric, too. Landon says we shared a milkshake once. Dorian comes to Ric. There's something you need to see.
Vardemus has the ball between the teams. Keep it clean. Timberwolves get to call it. Heads. It lands as tails. Varedemus tells them to shake hands. Hope and Landon do. Hope apologizes to Josie. Hope picks up the coin.
Dorian brings Ric to the linebacker, Dennis. He saw an animal. Like a hyena. Huge claws. It spit me out. Dorian found a Native American myth. Only eats werewolves.
Ric tells Hope about the monster. He tells her Raf is stuck in wolf form since she left. Hope remembers she can only turn him back. I have to find him.
The wolf hunting beast is HUGE and black and tracking Raf's dog tracks. The monster is like a giant prehistoric wolf thing.
**Hmm, a wolfy beast that eats werewolves. Some shaman make it to protect the people? Or did a witch curse some werewolves with something that would eat them in wolf form?
**Grimm and Supernatural pulled from lots of lore and myths and legends. Nice to have Legacies continuing the tradition.
Football game. Josie has the ball. Passes it to Kaleb. Touchdown.
Hope needs to ditch to find Raf. Watch the headmaster. He used magic to cheat. He doesn't think Caroline would hire a weirdo with an umbrella. But okay, I'm on it.
Hope and Maya. Her brother isn't playing. They count on Hope.
MG trying to get Lizzie to care about the game. But she's in the book. He speed reads it. Lizzie says you're really great. MG. I don't know what I'd do without you. Awwww.
Hope has to call the play. Everybody go long? Works for Maya.
Josie tells Landon what to do. He thinks it's an aggressive plan. Josie's jealous of Hope. Landon tackles Hope. Maya gets the ball and scores. Score is now even.
Hope fakes a hurt ankle. Landon apologetic. He tells her where the nurse's office is. She hobbles to Ric. Happy hunting.
Josie tells Landon that Hope was faking it. She's pushing. And he doesn't like it. Vardemus watching all.
Hope enters the Salvatore School. Heads upstairs. Into Landon's room? Touches his sweater and his guitar. Then stops herself to look through Raf's stuff? Packs her bag with clothes for him. Then bleeds on a map to find him. Landon catches her!
**Heh, how will you explain this one, Hope? Well, honestly, Landon will probably accept it if she says she's a monster hunter friend of Ric's and they're trying to find Raf before the werewolf killer does. Because monster in the woods. Tell the truth without getting into who she used to be.
Hope knows it looks bad. He says no, looks like magic. She stops him from running. Tells him Ric asked her to find Raf. She frees Landon. Tells him about the monster. He wants to come with her. Raf is my best friend. She tells him to try to keep up.
Half time. Kaleb confident. Josie wants to score more. Kaleb says we don't need to use our powers in the second half. Your dad is right about how the game should be played. Josie says someone needs to be quarterback. Someone needs to step up. Lizzie passes. Vardemus wants them out there to show their superiority. Ric comes in to talk to Vardemus. You're embarrassing my kids. Ease up in the second half. It isn't fair they're using their magic. Vardemus doesn't see the problem. You kept them back. Ric says he was trying to protect the kids. Vardemus says you see how that worked out. Ric asks What is your deal? What game are you really playing? Vardemus says best of luck, Coach. You will need it.
Dorian calls Ric. The monster is about as big as your truck. Get it from the back. It cries like a man. Not sure what that means. Ric will let Hope know.
Hope and Landon in the woods. Landon says Raf used to always hang out with me. Then he stopped. Hope doesn't think it's stupid he's worried Raf won't hang out with him when he's human again. Landon says he grew up in the foster system. She says it hurts to lose someone. She's trying to so hard to keep a certain distance while being kind. They hear a call for help. Landon runs toward it and they find the monster. Hope tosses fire at it. It's still there. She says Turn around. I have to get naked. I have to draw it away from you. She takes her clothes off. Go find Dr. Saltzman. She's in wolf form. You're a werewitch? LOL. Landon says not the droid you're looking for, so please move along. The monster lunges.
Maya's brother takes over for the Stallions. Game on.
MG asks Lizzie to help again. She asks if she's pretty when she's quarterback. He says you're the hottest thing I've ever seen. She gets in the huddle and gives orders. She tells Josie to hold on to the ball this time. Josie in center. Lizzie fakes a pass to Kaleb and tosses it to Josie. QB strips it from her and runs the opposite way. Lizzie scolds Josie.
Sebastian watching. Lizzie spots him. MG runs after her.
Hope calling for Landon. I didn't know it wanted you! Raf comes to her. She says this was all my fault. Don't go. I can help you. I need you. Landon needs you.
Vardemus tells Josie this is embarrassing. I've never broken your trust. Take what I say with consideration. Josie goes back into the game. Sheriff tells Ric that Dennis showed up. Teams line up. Kaleb fakes a tackle. Josie uses her magic and breaks the QB's elbow! BITCH. Ric calls for a medic, then stares at Josie, then Vardemus, who is smug.
**Seriously, Josie, you think the right method here is to BREAK A HUMAN'S BONE? The kid is innocent, just playing a game. Zero reason to wreck his football season because you're feeling like a sore loser and egged on by your species-ist professor. You're supposed to have a conscience, kid. Your parents have told you your whole lives about the responsible way to manage magic in the world. Lizzie's being the good kid and Josie's the.....hmm. It's like they switched. But, Josie does have a hidden temper. We saw that last season.
QB loaded on an ambulance. Ric confronts Vardemus. Stop pretending, Gary Poppins. I saw you give something to Josie. Vardemus says you treated them like animals in a zoo. Don't set foot on this campus again. Ric says my daughters go to this school. You can't do that. Vardemus just did. Ric slugs him. Kids start fighting. Dorian says not again. LOL.
Lizzie follows Sebastian. He tells her we cannot go down this path. She says you showed up at the game. He says you remind me of someone I used to know. She was the most beautiful woman I'd ever seen. This is a line we can't cross. You bewitch me, Elizabeth. She asks if he's a monster. He says yes. I'm a vampyre. Creature of the night. She says some of my best friends are vampires. She kisses him. MG arrives and sees. He sees her with no one! Sebastian is invisible!
Landon dragged by the monster. Wolf howl. Raf shoots it with a crossbow! Landon finishes the beast off. It falls. Raf comes over and they hug. Aww. Hope is away in human form again. Disappears. Landon says She saved us both. Raf asks who was that girl?
**So that's the answer to whether Raf was immune to the Malivore memory wipe in wolf form.
**I like the coloring they chose for Hope's wolf. It suits her.
**Why is Sebastian invisible? A ghost of a vampire? Can only Lizzie see him or is this a witch thing?
Beat up humans on the bus. Ric looks defeated. It leaves as Josie runs after it. The gate closes on her. Her nose is bleeding now.
Raf dreaming. Landon wakes. Raf is on the floor and growling. Landon wraps him in a blanket.
Hospital. Hope writing in her journal outside. Maya finds her. She's crying. Her brother's scholarship is over with that injury. Hope should heal it.
Landon finds Josie. She doesn't know why she's acting like this. Something inside me is off. Landon asks if she wants to go first. She says I did something. I hurt someone. I think I wanted to. Landon says it wouldn't have happened if I listened to you. You were right about Hope. She's not what she says she is. The monsters are back. I don't know why but I think the monsters are coming after me. And seeing you is the only thing making me feel a little better about this. He kisses her. She says the monsters will have to go through her. I won't let them take you. I promise.
The body in the woods. Vardemus comes to it. Looks at it. Touches it. Opens his mouth and eats it!!
Next ep - A monster that possesses people. It could be anyone. A samurai shows up to get it.
