KIM RHODES RETURNS AS SHERIFF JODY MILLS - Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) respond to a frantic call and together along with Castiel (Misha Collins), Jack (Alexander Calvert), and Jody (guest star Kim Rhodes), assist in an extraordinary and heartbreaking rescue. 2 weeks ago. Earth 2. Radio Shed. Redhead woman perusing the clearance sale. Clerk keeps smiling at her. Paris Agreement on the radio. President Hillary Clinton. The redhead leaves. Chuck comes into the store. He walks to the TVs. Clerk rattles off the stats. Chuck wants an audience. In the beginning, it was me and Sis. But I wasn't satisfied. I created the world. Kept creating. Other worlds. Scenarios. Characters. My other toys. Is that where I screwed up? Dean says I'm not going to get the ending I want. I've gotten what I want from a 100 Sam and Deans but those other toys don't spark joy like the real Sam and Dean. They disappointment me. They surprise me. They're the ones. Clerk offers a stereo. Chuck doesn't need more! I need less. Time to clear the board. All the other worlds, alternate realities. Subplots. Failed spinoffs. Time to start canceling shows.
Sioux Falls. Jody looks at a dead cow. Alex calls. Lasagna getting cold. It's vegan. Jody says the cow was clubbed to death. Keep the lasagna in the oven. Open barn door. Jody inspects. Hello? Just farm equipment so far. Then she's attacked from behind!
Sam doesn't like it. Which part? Jack's deal with Death or the eating angel hearts. Dean says cards up isn't cosmic players' style. Sam worries about Jack. He doesn't have a soul, was in the Empty for months, and we don't know where his head it now.
Jack looks at the carved initials on the table. Goes to his room. Looks in the mirror. Gray haired lady. You rang? Death's rep. What's up, kid?
Cas trusts Jack. Sam worries about cosmic balance. What about Amara? Dean believes in Billy. She's committed to the rules. Probably has it all figured out. Like the Malek box? Well, she's still Death. I have questions, too. But this is all the plan we've got.
Jack wonders why Billy doesn't show up directly. Rep reminds him to follow the rules. Sam knocks. Hey. Who were you talking to? No one. Sam wanted to check in. We're all just.......we're just......so glad to have you back. You know that, right? you could've come to us first. We would've helped you. Jack says he knows.
Cas and Dean having a drink. Kelly had faith Jack would be good for the world. I knew it. When God took him, I knew the story wasn't done, and I was right. Dean says here's to being right, and here's to payback. Cas says what sounds good to me is Jack fulfilling his destiny. Dean thinks God being killed by his grandson sounds right. Jody calls. I'm in trouble. Route 11, Fletcher Farm, the old barn. If you don't come, I'm dead.
**The "then" showed Kaia, both versions of her, so that matters here. Did bad place Kaia come back?
Impala arrives. Boys free Jody. Then bad place Kaia attacks them. She wants the Spear. You promised you'd get me back to my world. Jody frees Dean then Dean pulls a gun. Kaia says you promised. You said you could get me home. My world is dying. How do you know that? From my dreams. Dean asks who she's protecting. Her. We share our lives, memories, dreams. We've been connected my whole life. Jody says you killed her! She's dead! Kaia says she haunts me. Kaia's alive. She's been stuck over there this whole time? Kaia says Kaia has survived, but my world is ending. I can see it through her eyes.
Kaia singing to herself. Eating at the fire. Storms. She looks to the sky.
Kara needs to get back to the bad place. I need your help.
**But if Jack uses his powers, God knows he's back before they're ready.
Cas and Jack playing Connect 4. Jack wins. Boys return. With Jody. Cas says it's nice to finally meet her in person. Dean escorts Kaia inside. They discuss her. And all agree Jack can't help her. We'll find another way. Cas will call Sergei. Kaia says we're running out of time. He can bring us there now. Jack offers to research. Dean wonders what to do with her. Jody wants a vote.
Kaia left with a magazine.
Jack looking at books. He found an Italian spell. The world bender. Need a liver of a mandrigora. Extinct monster. John killed the last one in Fargo. See if Cas and Jody are having any luck. Dean and Sam discuss. They need archangel grace and Michael didn't leave a forwarding address. Using Jack is against Billy's rules.
Cas can't get Sergei on the phone. Jody found uncatalogued items in inventory. Claire is in Yosemite looking for a woman in a dark cloak. She's spent years wanting revenge. There's no time to loop her in. If we fail......it'd kill her. Cas calls again. Jack heard them.
Goes to bad place Kaia. He's sorry, it's just, you look just like her. How did you? She doesn't know. Snipes at him. He's sorry he can't do more. She says she saw him push Kaia to cross over. Jack wanted to help. She was in so much pain. Kaira says she's in pain now and soon, she will die. He sits at the table. Why......why did you do it? Come here? She envied Kaia. Her world looked peaceful. This place is.....cold. I don't understand it. I don't know how to move through it. So I find empty spaces and hide. This world doesn't want me. I'm done with it. She grabs Jack's hands. You can help us. Please? Please! He draws away. Then touches her head. Looks at Kaia in the Bad Place.
I'm saving Kaia. She's running out of time. I saw it. Sam scolds him. Merl arrives. I've been watching you screw up. Risking it all for one life is Winchester dumb. Try and I'll tell Death. Jack says okay. Go. In the meantime, I'll open a rift to the Bad Place. Reaper wants to stop him now. He says you can try. Run to Billy. See how she reacts. What she decides to do to you. Or, help us and she never has to know. She says now this is Winchester Stupid. But? There might be a way. The cosmic warding Amara peeled off these walls. You only fixed part of it. Sam asks how do we restore it? You can't. But she can get it back up for a while. But it won't be good enough. I'll have to feed it. Borrow your angel. Better hope it keeps us off Chuck's radar.
Spell bowl. Sam reads the Latin. Bowl glows. Warding glows on the walls. Pretty. Reaper has a rock. Dean asks Sam how he feels about this. Sam says a big, stupid risk feels good. The dumb right thing.....it's like we're back. Jody packing up. Cas wants her to stay. It's......I was never able to make things right with Claire. But you and Claire found each other. If something goes wrong and Kaia isn't saved, Claire will be devastated but survive. But if she loses you both.... That would kill her. Yeah. Merl calls for Cas. He thanks Jody. Cas and Merl touch the rock. Sigils powered. Jack's time. He opens a rift. Kaia goes through it. Then Sam. Then Dean.
Bad Place. How does it feel to be back? Good talk. Where is Kaia? They follow. Pause in the forest. Monsters come at them. Surround them. Ah, crap.
Do we fight them? Kaia says this many, you lose. They're scared. Of what? you? No. This. The storm. They clear. Kaia leads them again. Home. Boys yell for Kaia. She grabs a blade in the hut. Comes out. Dean says hey, kid. Hugs her. Sam smiles. Kaia helped us find you. Dean says we should go. Bad Place Kaia is staying. This is my home. I don't belong in your world. You do. Go. Go! They run back to the rift.
The storm is rolling in. Runs over the forest. Kaia meets it.
Jody waiting. Sam comes through, then Dean and Kaia.
Jack gave clothes to Kaia. She is glad they're clean. He asks how she survived alone all this time. She says the nursery rhyme. My mom used to.......doesn't matter. Jody comes in. Kaia wonders what she does now. Jody invites her home. Kaia asks about Claire. Kaia thanks Jack. She and Jody leave.
Merl would almost say that's a victory. She thinks the warding worked. Then Billy beheads her. Reaper dissolves. Hello, boys. Dean's jaw is on the floor.
**Billy's hair is shorter. Does Death go to the salon?
Dean says what the hell? Billy goes to Jack. He says I tried to call you. She says she was busy. Merl had one job, keep you in line. She failed. We're playing a big game here and we're only as strong as our weakest players. All the worlds are dying. But this one. Chuck. He's been a busy boy. Wiping the slate clean for the end. Sam asks what's her end game? Jack will kill God? Great. What's your plan? Billy believed in the rules. But when I became Death, I inherited Death's knowledge and Death's library. Even God's book. The books write themselves. God had to build himself into the framework to keep things ticking. Dean and Sam have work to do. This is your destiny. You're the messengers of God's destruction.
Chuck watching TVs of the worlds. Stretches. The clerks asks if he's finished. Chuck says not yet. Some worlds are more complex. They need more time, attention. Clerk hopes he'll be spared. I've served you for weeks. Chuck says you'll be fine. Everything's just fine. Chuck leave the Radio Shed. Tosses his finished soda. Meteors crash into Earth 2.
Next ep - Sam and Dean meet Sam and Dean from another world. Sam tells Sam he'll have to lose the man bun. LOLOLOL
