"After, Before" - With the Zephyr's time drive malfunctioning, the team is quite literally hurling toward disaster and Yo-Yo may be their only hope. The only problem? To get her powers back, she'll need to enlist the help of an old adversary and revisit part of her past long hidden away, on "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," WEDNESDAY, JULY 15 (10:00-11:00 p.m. EDT), on ABC. Episode 8:
Mack leaves the Zephyr on Jan 21, 1982. Deke goes after him.
May tells Enoch and Jemma that Mack's not back. Time drive malfunctions. Jemma gets Deke on the radio and tells them to get back now. We're about to jump. Now. How much time did we lose? 481 days! May says start the search, now!
Nothing on radio. 30 seconds left. Why are jumping at all? Jemma says they're jumping to the same latitude and longitude. How much time. Sept 1983. YoYo is leaving. You have 27 days. May goes with her.
Quinjet.
Sousa and Jemma. Jemma has faith in mathematics.
Quinjet returns in October 1983. They've lost control of the time drive. Zephyr will collapse in 2 days. or.....20 minutes. The jumps are getting shorter. A jump within a jump....means.....honestly, I have no idea. Enoch shows them they can't reach the fuel regulator. It disintegrates everything it touches. Daisy enters when they're discussing YoYo's powers. Go to my mom. Jiajing is in Afterlife. If anyone can cure Inhuman powers, it's her.
Daisy still healing. Jemma reboots Coulson. A new body is being made. Mack wants you to weigh in. Mack tells him the short version.
YoYo says the plan is pretty thin, May. Mack says the mission's a go. YoYo, good luck. You got this. Quinjet leaves. Zephyr jumps again.
YoYo pacing in the jet. May feels her worrying from here. She felt more like herself in the Lighthouse. She picked up on Mack and YoYo's reunion from outside the room. Heh. They will land cloaked and approach on foot. Last time Jiaying saw a Quinjet, she started a war.
Afterlife. YoYo says they never came up with a cover story. May tells her Keep it simple. Tell part of the truth. A young woman is running away from the city. Two men chased her. She doesn't want to go back there. May and YoYo noticed. Woman says you shouldn't have come here.
**So, will we manage to have a Dollhouse reunion, or will this ep mostly me May and YoYo?
Jiaying comes to them. How did you know my name? Elena introduces herself and says she's an Inhuman. Tells them she was poisoned and I freeze in place. May speaks Chinese to Jiaying. Who's hair is darker here than when we met her. YoYo picks up a diviner. Touches it to her face. Jiaying will help her.
The security man is paranoid about them. Jiaying needs to know what took away YoYo's gift. He says learn what you can, but when you're done, they can't be allowed to leave.
Acupuncture on YoYo. This will break down poison in your body. YoYo will try anything. Jiaying wants to know what the poison was. YoYo says I don't know where it came from, but it killed a close friend of mine. They'll study her blood and tissue samples. YoYo thanks them for the help. May says once we cure Elena, we'll forget all about this place. The man tests them. Jiaying tells Li or Lee she can handle things from here.
YoYo's impatient. They hear a woman struggling. Jiaying apologizes for the disturbance. She has a theory about Elena's symptoms. Finals results in the morning should confirm it. Get some rest. They return to their room. May says whatever that was, it's not our fight. We'll be out in the morning.
Troubleshooting Zephyr. They have 10 minutes to save it. Power fluctuation. It worked for a second. Sousa suggests getting ready to abandon ship. Zephyr jumps again.
Morning. Jiaying hopes they got some sleep. May says one of them did. Elena wants to know what the tests said. Jiaying says There's nothing foreign in you. Your problem isn't physical. It's in your mind.
**That was a given. You could see it on YoYo's face the first time she froze. This is about some kind of fear. Guilt. Grief.
YoYo gets defensive. Jiaying asks May if you feel her anxiety spiking. She's met an empath before. You can guide her on an exploration of her emotional past. They're skeptical. Feelings aren't May's thing.
Sitting close to meditate. A drink to bond. Herbs and some dirt. May doesn't like being close. Jiaying tells them to breathe in. Leaves them to work this out in peace. YoYo says alone is worse. May feels embarrassment from YoYo. May has an idea. Pulls her up to spar. They like this now. May tells her to beat her. YoYo flashes back to being infected. They fight some more. YoYo sees Ruby. I acted on impulse. Did you regret it? The next memory is a child.
Zephyr working as fast as they can. Jemma wants Daisy in the healing chamber. Sousa readying the parachutes. Daisy and Coulson left alone. We are not in the best shape, are we. Coulson was thirsty for a year and a half. He drinks from a glass. He's happy to see her healing. Wonder how many ones and zeroes it takes to make that fuzzy feeling. She's happy Sousa is here. Coulson says that makes him happy, too.
Jemma and Sousa. She made him a new prosthetic leg. He apologizes for 73. We're all in the same boat now. She's reminded of something she has to do. He tosses her something and they jump again.
YoYo was 10 or 11. Her dad got mixed up in bad people. She went to stay with her uncle. Witnessed a bad man in the house. The children watching. YoYo snags her grandmother's cross. The uncle and the man struggle with a gun and the uncle is shot. The man runs away.
YoYo still feels guilt for taking the pendant. May says impulse isn't always a bad thing. The point is to forgive yourself for it. A man yells Jiaying's name. May goes to investigate. Follows Lee and Jiaying. There's only ever been one solution to this problem. May asks what they did to the woman. Cora did this herself. How? She's not able to control her gift. She's nearly destroyed Afterlife a dozen times. They hoped they could take her gift to save her. A man is unearthed. Cora took his gun. Jiaying thinks Cora fears Lee. May knows Cora's fear isn't that.
Cora runs into the field with the gun. She's ready to kill herself. The gun is disassembled, shaking apart. It's Nathaniel?! Cora, you don't have to die today.
Who are you? Nathaniel. I was supposed to die, too. You and me, our fates were written in the stars. I found an escape hatch. Want to come? Sybil helped him find Cora. What would you call this place? A commune, a cult, or a prison. She says it's my home. He says you're too powerful for that. She can't control her gift. He says don't. Let it out. Helicopters above. I want you to come with us and never feel trapped again. All you have to do is say yes.
Man shoots at them. YoYo still blocked. May gives her the rifle. We're under attack and running out of time.
Jemma continues to the computer. Records a message for Fitz. She doesn't know why they lost contact when she rescued the team from Izell. YoYo might be able to fix the Zephyr, but if not.....we'll be together again. Time, space, it's never stopped us before. I won't stop trying. I love you. Deke says we're all gathering in Command.
Another jump.
May and YoYo in the halls. YoYo shoots a guy off the teleporter. Bad guys are too many. They find Nathaniel. Jiaying appeals to Cora. I only wanted what was best for you. To help you. Cora says you fear me. I'm a threat. Jiaying says I love you, I always have. She read her stories as a little girl. Told her about bad things and bad people, but I promised to always protect you. Cora says you didn't. You protected the world from me. Nathaniel was right. This is a prison and I finally found me way out. Lee attacks Cora and Cora burns him. Jiaying pleads with her to stop. YoYo tells the teleporter to get them out of here.
YoYo and May get Jiaying on the Quinjet with the teleporter. Jiaying won't leave her daughter. May gives them a coordinate watch. Jiaying is sorry YoYo didn't find what she came for to fix her. The Inhumans leave. May and YoYo get in the air. Cutting it close.
Team waiting for May and YoYo. Enoch says we're mere moments away from catastrophic failure. Deke says that's very comforting. Sousa says parachutes are ready to go. Mack tells them to abandon ship. Zephyr jumps again.
Are we in the right place? May says we're a jump late. I can land this on the first pass. YoYo says we're losing our time ship because of me. May disagrees. Zephyr appears. May moves to land. Zephyr jumps.
You're late. Mack wants good news. YoYo says it didn't work. Mack knew it was a long shot. He orders them all to the Quinjet. Jump again.
YoYo feeling guilty. May keeps trying to say it isn't her fault. YoYo has doubts. May says you always bounce back. YoYo finally figures...... maybe I'm not supposed to........I don't have to bounce back. She speeds forward. To the timing of fixing the power regulator.
Mack notices they stopped jumping. Sees YoYo on the camera. Hugs her. She's smiling. He asks how she didn't bounce back? She thinks she was always able to....I was holding myself back.
Daisy goes into the healing pod and Coulson is finished being rebuilt. Sousa sits with her.
Coulson in a suit. Jemma tells him to power down for a few hours. Like a nap. He clicks his switch.
Enoch looking at the time drive. Guardedly optimistic. Deke will miss the 80s. Do you play drums? I can keep tempo. Time drive is going again. Deke asks what's happening. Enoch says it didn't work. They jump.
Afterlife. Nathaniel has captives. Cora asks what he'll do with them? Did Lee do anything to deserve that power of his? No. Nathaniel wants to shake things up. Something new. Anarchy.
Next ep - What's happening? A time storm. Daisy is repeating the same events over and over. Coulson will watch all of them die, one by one.
