 Superman & Lois

TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 23
SERIES PREMIERE
SUPERMAN & LOIS
"Pilot" - (8:00:00-9:30:50 p.m. ET) (TV-PG, LV) (HDTV)
SERIES PREMIERE - In SUPERMAN & LOIS, after years of facing megalomaniacal supervillains, monsters wreaking havoc on Metropolis, and alien invaders intent on wiping out the human race, the world's most famous superhero The Man of Steel aka Clark Kent (Tyler Hoechlin, "Teen Wolf") and comic books' most famous journalist Lois Lane (Elizabeth Tulloch, "Grimm"), come face to face with one of their greatest challenges ever - dealing with all the stress, pressures, and complexities that come with being working parents in today's society. Complicating the already daunting job of raising two boys, Clark and Lois must also concern themselves with whether or not their sons Jonathan (Jordan Elsass, "Little Fires Everywhere") and Jordan (Alexander Garfin, "The Peanuts Movie") could inherit their father's Kryptonian superpowers as they grow older.

Returning to Smallville to handle some Kent family business, Clark and Lois are reacquainted with Lana Lang (Emmanuelle Chriqui, "Entourage"), a local loan officer who also happens to be Clark's first love, and her Fire Chief husband Kyle Cushing (Erik Valdez, "Graceland"). The adults aren't the only ones rediscovering old friendships in Smallville as the Kent sons are reacquainted with Lana and Kyle's rebellious daughter, Sarah (Inde Navarrette, "Wander Darkly"). Of course, there's never a dull moment in the life of a superhero, especially with Lois' father General Samuel Lane (Dylan Walsh, "Nip/Tuck") looking for Superman to vanquish a villain or save the day at a moment's notice. Meanwhile, Superman and Lois' return to idyllic Smallville is set to be upended when both a mysterious stranger (Wolé Parks, "All American") and impassioned self-made mogul Morgan Edge (Adam Rayner, "Tyrant") enter their lives. (#101). The episode was directed by Lee Toland Krieger and Todd Helbing wrote the teleplay for the first episode, based on a story by Greg Berlanti and Todd Helbing. Original airdate 2/23/2021.

Episode 1: Pilot:

Superman & Lois Team Explains the Series Premiere's 'L' of a Final Twist: 'We Wanted to Tell a New Story'

Superman & Lois boss and stars on the Stranger's shocking identity, SPOILER's powers

Clark's ship landing on Earth. Remembers coming to Earth. Hearing the voices of his parents. Playing at the Kent Farm. His parents' greatest surprise. Loving Smallville. The small things were the big things. Johnathan collapses in the street from a heart attack. He moved to Metropolis. Superman saves people from a car. Early suit! My mom made it for me. But his most vivid memory is the day he met Lois. Who told you to wear a tie? Do you like baseball? Of course. He rambles. She's never met a Clark before. He rambles some more.

But they fell in love. He gave her the truth. Proposed. Kissed in the sky. Married at the farm. Got their first place. Then the twins came. Johnathan, always smiling. Jordan, darker. Tantrums, night terrors. Social anxiety disorder.

Superman living in Metropolis, married to Lois, raising their boys. And constantly trying to save the world.

Nuclear incident. Come on, Superman. He rushes to the scene. Down into the reactor. Newest suit. Listening to the scientists. He seals a crack. Then freezes nearby water and grabs a giant chunk of ice. Lifts it to fly to the reactor and down inside to cool it. Temp finally returning to safety.

He lands outside. People cheer. Lois' dad comes to chat. Both cracks were man made. Notices Superman putting in a lot of OT. Lois okay with that? General would like to come to town and take the boys out for grandpa things.

Lois on the phone with a source. She updates Clark, then resumes her call. He missed Jordan's therapy. Johnathan has news. Starting QB on the varsity team as a freshman. Kid chatting to Eliza on the computer.

Loud music in Jordan's room. He's playing a video game. Clark turns the volume down. Jordan says Superman's boring. Clark apologizes for missing therapy. So, high school starts tomorrow. Are you nervous? It's okay to be nervous. It was rough for me. Jordan says life is different in Metropolis. Clark says if you want to talk, I'm here. But Jordan just wants the music up loud again.

Clark's phone buzzes. Missed call from Mom. He leans on a wall.

Mom saw him on the news. You need to be around more. He thinks he has a responsibility to the world. She says you have a bigger responsibility to your family as a father, like your father was for you. You have to be present. He's trying. He doesn't want to let anybody down. Was it always this hard for you and Dad? She says no. Life is different in Smallville. She's not feeling top shape. Says she needs to lie down. They say goodnight.

Morning breakfast. Martha called. She wants them to visit. Johnathan and Jordan bicker. Lois tells them to go, their ride is here. Love you guys. They leave. Lois worries about Jordan. She wants Clark to tell them he's Superman. She suspects Johnathan has powers. Clark says it'll only make Jordan feel more alien than he does. They keep arguing. Clark says the boys slip once and the whole world knows who I am. Your dad agrees with me. We're listening to him now? They enter the Daily Planet. Morgan Edge bought the Planet. And Clark is laid off. Lois is pissed. All they care about is click bait. Clark's phone. Mom. No, Dr. Fry. He zooms out.

To the farm. Rushes inside. How did you? The stroke....it..... Geeze, losing Martha at 8:16. Clark cries entering her room. She's in bed. He weeps at her side.

**Well, that'll rearrange a man's priorities. Never seen a Superman property that has both his parents dead for the start.
**So, how much changed since Crisis besides 2 kids instead of 1?

Smallville isn't what it was.

Funeral for Martha Kent. Clark lays a rose on her coffin. Ran from Johnathan's. He and Lois hug in the kitchen.
Outside, the memorial. Johnathan notices Sarah Cushing. Urges Jordan to hurry and make an impression.

Lana hugs Clark and Lois. You remember our boys. They have Sarah and Sophie. Everyone loved Martha. Clark could use a drink. The adults leave the teens. Jordan and Johnathan compliment her. Cell service here sucks. Router is in the barn. Which Clark told them to stay out of.

Lana and the Kents catching up. Most everyone moved away from Smallville and haven't come back. Mr. Cushing doesn't like it. Morgan Edge wants to do a deal in Smallville. Lois listing his sins. Cushing says Edge looks at Smallville and sees the future. Kyle hints that Martha made a decision about the farm. Lana tells him to go get the girls. Clark asks what she's talking about? She says your mom had some business with us, that's all. Come by the bank tomorrow. Martha was the heart of Smallville. I'm sorry she's gone.

Teens in the barn. Sarah thinks growing up here sucks. It's sweet how Johnathan is trying to be a good wingman for his brother. She wants Jordan's phone. There's a bonfire tomorrow. Hit me up if you want to go. Johnathan found the router up in the hay lost. Jordan climbs up.

Lois and Clark. She wonders what the bank comment means. He's feels guilty for not coming home more often. Right before she died, I heard her say something as I was flying here. She wanted me to come home. I just don't know why, yet.

Jordan reaching for the router, and falls hard. Then pipes fall and Johnathan dives under them to shield his brother. Clark hears the commotion in the house.

**Well, if one or both have powers, it's about to show now. Or they're seriously injured under that pile of steel.

Sarah calling for help. Clark runs into the barn. Starts unburying them. Lois catches up.

They only have mild concussions. Paramedic says a little rest and they'll be fine. Lois tells them to go upstairs.

Johnathan might not start anymore because he's missing practice all week. Jordan wonders how they're fine. John says focus on Sarah. Jordan sent a Vulcan salute to Sarah. Jordan has suspicions about what happened in the barn.

Clark on the porch. Lois comes out. Thinking what I'm thinking? She says they need to know the truth. We don't know what he can or cannot do, yet. But he'll have his family to help him figure it out. Like now. Clark can't lose Jordan. He's pulled so far away already. She says our dreams didn't look like this. But every life has problems. Even the extraordinary ones. The General is back.

Footage from the nuclear plants. One commonality. A humanoid figure moving fast. And an etching. Kryptonian. Someone knows who Clark is. Lois says he's not leaving now. Now is not a moment Clark can take off. His mom just died. I mean it, Clark. Right now, this family needs you more. Clark agrees. Sam says I tried to warn you. You may have fallen in love with Clark Kent, but you married Superman, and Superman doesn't get to have a normal life. No matter how much you want one for him, or yourself.

**What do you think of the Man of Steel coloring? Tone fits with the less than shiny world Earth Prime has in this part of Kansas. Dying small town. Superman's complications. Martha dying.

Morning, in town. Meeting with Lana. Did Clark ever tell you about our accident? Pete was behind the wheel, fell asleep, crashed the car, and no one was hurt. Very strange. Mortgage papers. Martha got a reverse mortgage 5 years ago. She didn't need the money, but other people did. Dozens of ways Martha saved them. She was this town's Super Woman. She protected half the farm's value. Wanted to send the boys to college. You can pay the loan, or get a buyout for the remainder of the property.

Boys looking for the hidden clues in the dairy barn. Jordan looking for the unusual. Something out of place. He steps on a hollow floor. Padlocked hatch. They break it open. Cellar. Johnathan gets a flashlight. They head down into the cellar. Big space. Probably Grandpa's old tool storage or something. Jordan spots something. A tarp over Clark's spaceship pod. Jordan touches it. Johnathan's freaking out. Jordan touches it again. And a yellow crystal comes into his hand. What is that thing? It's not from Kansas.

Clark and Lois drive back to the farm. His memories are all here. Why would Mom want me to come home to sell the farm? Lois says she wanted you to save it. She thinks the loans don't smell right. He has it, too, but doesn't use it often. Not with teenage boys in the house. Jordan rants at Clark. Who admits it was a lie. That ship brought me to Earth. I landed here in Smallville, right in those cornfields over there. I was sent here from Krypton. Your grandparents raised me until I was ready to leave and become who I was meant to be. Clark removes his glasses and hands them to Lois. Then picks up the truck with ease. Holds it over his head. And flies. Lois didn't understand at first, either. Jordan understands. All the times you were gone, you lied to us. You both did. All the things I've been feeling! Lois says your mental illness has nothing to do with this. He yells that she doesn't know that! I'm half human, half whatever the Hell he is! Clark says don't yell at your mother. I was the one who didn't want you to know. I didn't want to put that burden on you. The only way for both of you to survive that accident is for at least one of you to be like me. Jordan's not impressed. You sure as hell weren't sent here to be a father! Johnathan says leave us alone. They both walk away.

Clark asks if he's a bad father. It feels like it's my fault it's all falling apart. She says that means you're human. He hears a signal. Another nuclear facility. Lois tells him to go.

He lands at the sight of trouble. I found your message. I know you're here. The villain knows he can't see through lead. Picked nuclear sites deliberately. I want to see how good you really are, Kal-El.

Jordan came to the party. Sarah wonders how they didn't get hurt. But she's glad he made it. Kids setting off fireworks.

Superman asks how do you know my name? The man says my world was destroyed. But I survived. Where he came from, you and I had history. Attacks Clark through a wall. Not as fast as I thought. They fly up into the sky.

Kids drinking and enjoying sparklers. Sarah says booze can mess with your meds. But you're not the only one on something. Until she was 11 or 12, she had an awesome life. Dolls and dance classes. But then something changed. People around here get this sadness. It hit my house. Dad sits on the couch. Mom gets mad. But he's a firefighter. He sees parents cook meth and the house catch fire with the kids inside. Anyways, about a year ago, I took a bunch of my mom's pills. Don't know why I did it. Never did it before. Mom made a big deal of it. Lots of therapy. They kiss. She's all what are you doing? Shaun attacks him. Johnathan arrives and pushes the guy back from Jordan. Shaun comes back, so Johnathan starts punching.

Superman chasing the guy through a city. Somewhere in Asia. Tackled into a store. Clark goes up into the atmosphere to get a better look. And gets tackled again.

Kids filming. Sarah trying to break it up. Jordan on the ground.

Superman and the guy in the suit fighting in space. Like me, your world is gone. You keep trying to fit in. You're not one of them. You're desperate for the love of people that will never accept you.

Jordan gets heat vision! Shot the kegs in anger.

Villain stabs Superman in the chest with Kryptonite. Dust to dust. Clark is sinking toward Earth.

Lois on the phone wanting the bank checked. Then sees the news.

Superman falling. Clark, come home. He pulls the Kryptonite out of his suit and stops himself right before crashing into a car.

The party. Firemen. Johnathan runs to Clark. Jordan's sitting. Clark sees his eyes. So red.

Jordan felt something when he fell. He saved Johnathan. A strength came over me. I felt control. It's hard to explain. Clark says Jordan's powers are manifesting differently than mine did. Johnathan teases him. Jordan goes outside. So Lois tells him to apologize. Johnathan follows. Clark tells her you're right. Should've told them a long time ago. Jordan could've killed someone tonight. Clark remembers his mom's words. She wanted us to move to Smallville. This family needs the simpler life. He knows it'd be a huge change. She agrees. But Martha was right. He kisses her.

Clark finds Jordan on the porch steps. I think about my dad a lot. He was heading off to church one day when a meteor crashed in his front yard. Just like that, he was a father. And he had no idea what he was doing. Didn't matter. He was always there. You were right. I haven't always been there for you. But from now on, I will be. He pulls Jordan close.

Lana comes to the farm with an offer. Clark says we're not selling. We'll run it like me and my folks did back in the day. Lana says they'll go over the terms of the loan, then. Lois asks if she knew a company took over her bank. Morgan Edge. Why is he interested in a bunch of family farms in Smallville, Kansas?

Boys check in with Sarah. Her dad said it was probably a methane pocket. Jordan says I shouldn't have kissed you last night. She's sorry. She just wanted to hang out with him. It's nicer if they're both a little messed up. She asks him to keep it secret. He agrees. Lana calls for her. It's okay. See you around. Johnathan says powers are overrated. And my skills on the field are legit. Lana and Sarah leave. Kents go back in the house.

Hey, boys, what would you think about staying longer than any of us planned? Like....permanently. They'll talk about it at family dinner tonight. But until then, Clark's going to show them farm things. But they have Superman questions.

Frozen mountain. The man in the suit enters a facility. He used the last of his Kryptonite. Computer says she'll start upgrades to the armor right away, Captain Luthor.

Making of - Legacy of Hope:

Superman is hope and we need Clark Kent. Called Superman and Lois for a reason. They're a team.

The Kent home is as important as the Fortress of Solitude. But it's fun to show how many literal worlds he can travel to.

**The show definitely looks expensive. New suit is great. Hopefully, they can keep the budget.

The iconic love story grown up. Making marriage work. Smallville needs help. It's almost a ghost town. Who better to give hope than Superman?

The fraternal twins - bonded and loving each other, but normal teenage boys. Until they're not.

Clark's vulnerability makes him relatable. He's not an 80 year old icon in his own story.

Arrowverse. Crisis crossover. Brand new era of the Arrowverse. DC multiverse.

Up, up, and away. Clark takes Jordan to the Fortress. Each power has a burden. The General doesn't like the changed priorities. Lois stands up to her father.
