“Loyal Subjekts”
DETAILS – Lois (Elizabeth Tulloch), Chrissy (guest star Sofia Hasmik) and Clark (Tyler Hoechlin) team up to piece together the significance of Smallville to Morgan Edge (Adam Rayner). Episode 9:
Leslie Larr in the office. Leads someone to Edge.
Lois wonders why here? Why Smallville? Chrissy says same reasons as the other towns. right? Lois says Smallville is the only town Edge is sticking around. So we need to dig deeper. Files from Lana and recruiting Clark's reporter skills. Then connect every dot, piece it all together, and if we've done our job right, the answer will present itself.
Edge meeting with the Asian lady. The fear of not providing for family. He'll improve Emily. Will this hurt? Leslie says not a bit. Edge says it'll make you feel like a new person. If you're willing. If you acknowledge the life you have now is not what you want.
Emily goes through the change. Edge tells the entity that it'll take a few days to complete the process.
Lana told Lois Edge needs more candidates. So people need to be scared away. She wants Clark to talk to people. Boys come in for their lunches. Tease Jordan about Sarah. Bus arrives. Lois tells Clark they'll listen to Martha Kent's son and leaves.
Lana tells Lois that the people are happy. Chrissy says it sounds like a cult. Lana says they have breakfast at Victoria Mays'. Lois suggests Lana take a break. I don't want you to get hurt. Lana says it's worth it.
High school. Boys arrive. Kyle drops Sarah off. Asks the boys over. Thanks Jordan for helping her with the audition. See you later, okay? Sarah says Kyle keeps saying things are going to be better. Then he crashes. Cycle repeats over and over.
Clark enters the diner. Runs into Emily. She says working at Edge has changed her life. Problems that seemed impossible before are no trouble now. Talk to Lana. She hooked me up.
Clark hears a bank robbery around the world and Superman intervenes. Handles the shooters. But he's breathing strangely. Getting shot at and the impacts make him lose consciousness.
**The synthetic Kryptonite dust is still in his lungs, it seems. He was fine until he used his powers......it's like asthma, where the increased activity brought a reaction.
Robber fires more into Superman. Superman is up when the robber turns his back. Saves the bank customers.
Edge advertising for twice as many recruits. Lois is off to make a scene. Lana didn't know ahead of time. Lois tells the people to walk away until she's along with Edge. I know what you're doing. You're putting Kryptonians in human bodies. Edge is not threatened by her. No one's being forced to do anything against their will. You can't stop this, Lois. Perhaps it's time to call in your super friend. Risky, though. He may take comfort knowing others are here like him. As Irons prophesied. She says Superman is nothing like them. Edge is excited to find out.
Lois comes home and finds Clark is bruised from all the bullets. He's got ice. We have to call my dad.
Sarah asks Jordan how he's so awesome at piano. LOL. Thanks him for all the time he's put into this. He sneezes and it's freeze breath! He flees from Sarah. Sneezes in the halls again. Activates the call for Dad. Shows Clark. You're infected, too. Come on.
Home. Clark thinks the gas is communicable. Lois says it's not your fault. Jordan says I'm not that bad. Then sneezes again. Sam arrives. Lois says explain why my son it sick? Clark asks how do we fix this? His guys are working on it.
Sarah tells Johnathan that Jordan ran out an hour ago and hasn't come back. John says it's now about you. I'll find him.
Lana asks Emily how it's going with the program. Emily says the process is amazing. Lana asks what process? Emily assumed she went through it. Edge was very clear about not telling anyone. Leslie asks Lana for a moment. To Edge's office. You've been looking into things that don't concern you. Lana wants to know what the Young Executive program is really about. Lana lies to him about not telling Lois anything. Lana asks what Emily went through. He says the same offer I'm about to give you. The answer you give will impact the rest of your life.
Jordan doesn't want to bail on Sarah. Jordan sneezes and freezes a lamp. It's getting harder to breathe. Clark takes him away. Lois comes out to Sam. He says it was untested. We didn't know what his reaction would be. Lois thought he was trying to do the right thing all her life. Thought once she had a family, he'd change.n Start putting family first. But knowingly endangering the lives of the people she loves, she can't forgive. Leave and never come back. You're not welcome anymore.
**How much control over the hosts do the Kryptonian spirits have? Are they accessing the humans' memories so they can blend in? Or are they in the subconscious at first and it takes a while to be sentient?
Fortress. Clark tells the hologram about Jordan. Jordan's lungs are filling with fluid. Kryptonite has to be filtered out of him. Burn it out. With immense heat. Clark tells Jordan it's the only way. Squeeze my hand as hard as you need to. Laser beams hit Jordan.
Johnathan asks Lois if she's okay? She feels guilty for failing to keep them safe. I can't turn around without one of you being in mortal danger. Why is it so hard to keep you safe? He says part of being a super family. Hugs her. Dad will figure something out. Always does.
Talent show. Lana and Kyle arrive. Sitting next to Emily. Lana says Edge explained everything to me. Makes perfect sense. Sarah is first. With no accompaniment. She says she can't do it. Kyle walks on stage with a guitar. That was fast. So, she sings. Nice young voice. Lana's smiling in the audience. Crowd sheers when Sarah finishes. She runs to hug her dad.
John steps out on the porch. Sam is still there. Waiting to hear back from his team. Johnathan asks why he built the weapons to hurt Dad? Sam says I have to be prepared for any scenario no matter how unlikely. You and I are not like your dad, or Jordan. John says it scares you, doesn't it? It does. You're wrong about you and I being alike. I could never be scared of my family. Sam says you haven't seen the things I have. John says that's true. In the end, it wouldn't matter, because I'd still trust them and you'd still be a coward.
Emily's daughter singing on stage. Sarah finds Lana. Sarah thanks Kyle for helping.
Emily hears something and leaves. Says she'll be right back. Kyle goes after her. To see what's wrong.
Leslie tells Edge that Superman is still weak, showing news about the bank robbery. That's why Edge activated subjects to take down the one he protects.
Fortress. Jordan's done. Clark is proud of him. Stand up, stand up.
Sam told they don't know how long it'll affect Superman. He hasn't testing "a prototype". Superman wasn't in the mood.
Lois gets a call from Lana. Tells her she saw Emily act differently. She left in the middle of her daughter's performance. She'd never do that. Tells Lois that Edge made her an offer. He knew I was feeding you information. I'm worried. What if he does something? Emily and another man are there. Emily uses heat vision at them. Sam uses the Kryptonite mist on them. Get out of here! He'll keep them busy.
Johnathan gets a rifle from the barn. Kyle is there.
Sam fighting the hybrids. Emily tosses him. He lands unconscious. She tells the other guy Targets first.
Fortress. Clark is emotional. I'm sorry, Jordan. Your life is completely changed because of who I am. You didn't ask for anything of this. I didn't. But you didn't ask for it, either. They hug. Then Clark hears.
Johnathan fires at the X-Kryptonians. Iron's gun throws them through the wall. Then Kyle blasts the rifle! And grabs both of them. Superman arrives and saves them. Looks around with x-ray. Bad guys are gone.
**Question answered - the Kryptonian spirit is a sleeper in the human.
Lois gives Sam frozen peas for his head. I was never there to keep you from bruises. Everything you said was true. I was gone a lot and wasn't there to protect you like a parent should. She says you were tonight. Couldn't let them hurt my grandson, and my little girl. We'll stay here until this is over. As of now, you are my priority. Lois says that war Irons talked about is about to happen.
Jordan and Johnathan. You're fine now? Yeah. Got the ice breath for good? think so. Like wintergreen gum in your mouth at all times. Can't believe what happened. Jordan wonders what to tell Sarah?
Kyle comes home. Sarah asks if he's drunk. Lana tells her to give them a chance alone. Kyle says he's not drunk. Something happened to me tonight. We were talking to Sarah, then I blacked out, then I'm in a field outside town and my ribs are hurting and I don't know what's going on. Lana asks if Edge made him an offer.
Flashback to the meeting. Kyle wanted to be his best self.

Chrissy calls Lois. She found something. Irma Sayers and David. Leslie Larr is Irma Sayers. Originally from Smallville, both of them. Derek Powell said he was already dead. Some of them have powers fritzing out. Some don't. Clark remembers the meteor showers that came with his landing. The only people that can accept the X are people that lived with the radiation.
Edge calls Superman. Superman rushes him and Edge bats him aside. I got mine the same time you did, Kal-El. When I arrived. Time you learned the truth, brother.
Next ep - Strangeness in Smallville. Edge says his brother chose humans over Kryptonians. Humans don't deserve to lose their lives. As in, Jor-El's literal brother?
