"Purpose in the Machine" - Fitz and the team enlist the aid of an Asgardian to unlock the secrets of the ancient monolith that swallowed Simmons, and Agent May is at a crossroads in her personal and professional life, on "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," TUESDAY, OCTOBER 6 (9:00-10:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

Episode 2:
1839, England. Men gathered at a table. With stones in their palms. One is the odd man out. He's prepared for a journey. Ushered to a door. Shoved in and locked away.
The man is with the Monolith. It takes him in. In all of history, no one has ever returned.
Mack and Daisy. She says Joey is a real candidate.
Hunter and Mack and Bobby get Fitz out of containment and lock up the Monolith. Fitz apologizes. He has dirt on his fingers. It's sand. Impossible sand. The sand pre-dates Earth by a billion years. The rock is a portal. Simmons is out there. Coulson says it's been months. She could be long gone. Dead. We're going to find out, aren't we? Yes. Damn right. What do you need, Fitz? Fitz has a list, including a sandwich. Coulson hands out orders.
Hunter leaving to go after Ward. Bobby wishes she could go. She's missing half a lung. Hunter's glad she's stuck behind. Keeps her safe. Coulson will take her in the Bus. Hunter and Bobby kiss. She says don't die out there. Coulson says Hunter, make sure he does.
Man on a hood. Ward driving the car. Driving it through a building. Greed splintered Hydra into a thousand pieces. Time for a leaner generation. Prove you still have a purpose. Show me you're not dead weight. Tell me, where's the kid?
The Asgardian says he won't help. He's laying low. And he's in a cell. Public drunkenness. Bobby says you could easily break out. He says and miss dinner? Come back in a few months. Coulson reminds him I saved your life. Threatens him with telling the other organizations where he is. Are you threatening me, Agent Coulson? Yeah. What's with the hand? Things got messy. Asgardian says alright. He lights the door away. Then points at Coulson - "He did it." LOL!!!
Doc arrives. Daisy and Mack greet him. She offers a meal. He says you're trying to butter me up? Daisy asks how's May? Where is she? Is she ever coming back?
May with her father. Playing golf. You're not here because you care about me. Something is not right.
Asgardian brought to the Monolith. How often does it do that? Fitz says it seems random. Asgardian says on this planet. Coulson and Bobby know he's wanting out. He says after destroying it. He'll help them get Simmons, but that's it. Destroy it after. Bobby shows him the parchment. Asgardian has seen this word carved in a castle in England. To the plane! LOL.
Ward at a marina. Planning a kidnapping of a rich man. Ward's associate puts rats on the yacht. People run off the boat. Ward disables security. Punches the rich guy.
The castle. Asgardian came here for a costume ball once. Shows the carving. The Hebrew warning means Death By Punishment. Coulson finds another carving. Opens a passageway. Fitz goes first. In they go.
Daisy and the doc. Andrew says Joey isn't ready. Daisy says we're out of time. Andrew says desperation leads to mistakes. Coulson's making questionable decisions. But you're turning into a leader and I'm concerned how you're handling the adjustment. She says when I changed, I felt like a monster, needed help. This is a chance to show those people they have a place they belong. Being different can mean making a difference.
May chopping vegetables. Her dad says you chop like your mother. May says you left the kitchen window open again. He says paranoid, like your mother. He shows her a box of memories. She used to ice skate as a little girl. Person outside. She grabs a knife. It's Hunter.
Fitz and team find a chamber. Asgardian says this was built later. Bobby says it reminds me of the bunker under the Louvre. Fitz finds a lever for power. Bobby hears water. Maybe hydro-electric power. Fitz opens a hole in the floor. Coulson calls Mack. I need you to bring something to us. You're not going to like it.
Ward with his captive. We're taking everything. Starting with bank passwords.
May and Hunter. He says there's a lot of speculation at HQ about why you left. Where you went. She asks how he found her. He says he reached out to contacts. They're in Sun City. She asks what he wants. He wants her help killing Ward. She says her father needs her. Hunter heard about the hit and run. Part of you wonders it was Ward. Hunter plans to infiltrate Hydra. May says she's out. He leaves info. If she changes her mind. He says next time it won't be me outside the window.
Monolith is loaded into the hole. Mack and Daisy arrive. She asks how realistic is it to get this working. Andrew says I'm reckless and you're desperate. Bobby guesses what he said about her. Daisy says yeah. Fitz gives directions on what to activate. The room shakes. It's working. Daisy gets a headache. Mack says we have a problem. Fitz calls for light! Gears seize. Daisy's nose is bleeding. She collapses.
Coulson tries to wake Skye. Bobby says it's Daisy now, sir. Daisy sits up. She says that pulsing sound was killing me. It was deafening. Fitz is freaking out, frantic. Mack says how will we fix it when we don't know how it works?
Rich boy being tortured. He fights back. Ward knows his name. He's a Von Strucker. Ward says your old man would be proud. I brought tacos. LOL.
May and her dad. You and your mother....silence always means yes. You take after your mother. She says in every way. He says there's worse things to be than your mother's daughter. She says she wants a normal life away from SHIELD. He remembers how quickly she got up off the ice. She says I was a kid. It didn't hurt as much then. He says my daughter always got back up.
Ward leads Strucker through the building. Hydra's fractured. We're going to rebuild it the right away. Strucker says my father so rarely let me see his world. Ward says it's your world now.
Mack and Fitz working on the problem. Fitz gets an idea. The room is a speaker, the machine is an amplifier. It resonates with the monolith. Daisy says I can open the portal myself.
Agardian says turns out, we're standing in the world's largest subwoofer. Coulson asks Daisy how long she can hold it. Maybe a minute. Coulson says I can't lose you, so take care of yourself. She gets to work. Fitz dives into the portal!!
And lands on the planet. Yells for Jemma.
Daisy's struggling.
Fitz is in a sandstorm. Hears Jemma yell his name. He searches. She struggles to reach him.
Coulson says pull Fitz back.
Fitz loses his grip. Jemma reaches for him again.
Daisy can't hold it.
Fitz loses his grip again.
The momolith blasts rock up. Fitz and Jemma are in the debris! Mack holds Daisy. You did good, Tremors.
Jemma getting medical treatment. Coulson with the Asgardian. The portal is destroyed. He asks what is Daisy. Coulson says they call themselves Inhumans. Asgardian hasn't heard that word in a long time.
Andrew calls May. Fitz got Simmons back. Thought you deserved to know. How says you can come back to see her, or stay. She thanks him and hangs up. She tells Hunter. Hunter is thrilled. Smile, May, for once in your life.
Jemma wakes up holding a sharp object. She gets out of bed and snuggles up to Fitz on the floor.
Andrew at a university. Strucker asks to enter his class.
