“Training Day”
TEAM ARROW ATTEMPTS TO WORK WITH SCPD — Team Arrow attempts to work with the Star City Police Department but much to Oliver’s (Stephen Amell) frustration, things don’t go as planned. Meanwhile, Dinah (Juliana Harkavy) gets some life-changing news. Ruba Nadda directed the episode written by Emilio Ortega Aldrich & Rebecca Rosenberg (#715). Original airdate 3/11/2019.
Episode 15:
SCPD training. Team Arrow going through the aspects of law enforcement. Above all, follow the orders of the commanding officer on site. Dinah thanks the Sargeant. Rene asks he does know we have our own uniforms, right? LOL.
Dinah checks with the recruits. SCPD wants to make sure we're on the same page. She has a clean bill of health. Mayor says she can be Black Canary within the confines of the law. And tells Team Arrow to work the same way. This is provisional.
Felicity complains at home about going through this today. Oliver says there's no use arguing with the mayor. She asks why he's so zen? He wants this to work for their baby. Working in the light is best for the city. We can stay here and our children can grow up safe. She doesn't want to tell anyone about the baby, yet. For the city. For our family. For a better future. She's starving and nauseous. Heh.
Future - Mia and William. Don't wander off, don't talk to anyone. They're looking for a micro cassette player. Mia tells him to stay here and don't do anything. It's the prison set redressed heh. William spots a tape player. How much? Man says I'll give it to you cheap. $1000. 700. 400. 600. Final offer. We have a deal. William says pleasure doing business with you.
Thugs. A guy gets shot and it leaks acid. Dead in 15 seconds from the arm. Let's try a leg next.
SCPD gets the case. No shells at the scene. Skin melted off. Dinah's scar on her neck is noticeable. Toxicology is working on it. Rene says the gang is causing trouble in The Glades. Oliver wants to visit the gang. Dinah says no. We have to run leads the SCPD way.
William bumped into. And get his pocket picked by the little girl. Felix played him. Mia threatens him. He says one word from me and you'll be in SCPD custody.
Laurel gets a call. You're wasting my time. Then she says she'll be right there.
Prison. Bronze Tiger. What am I doing here? He says Diaz is dead. Why hasn't this been reported, yet? Slabside covering it up. And he knows who killed him. Oliver made me a promise of freedom. Where is it? She says the terms on your sentence are rock solid. A lot of red tape. Diaz died the death he deserved. I don't care who did it. I can't get you out any faster. He asks to see his son here, with him. Do that and we'll talk.
Blackout Gang will be in Orchid Bay. Rene thinks SCPD will cramp their style. Dinah says the mayor wants them in police uniforms. The SWAT stuff. And we have to use SCPD issue weapons.
On site for the deal. Dinah and Rene. Oliver and Diggle. Felicity tells them there's an incoming vehicle. SUV pulled in. Where's Mr. Midas? They want to buy as many bullets as they have to sell. Oliver argues with SWAT. Dinah gives order to interrupt the buy and goons are shooting. They start using the poison bullets. Oliver throws a grenade. Dinah can't effectively use her cry. Rene pushes her out of the way of the escaping vehicle. Overwatch can't track it because the computer system crashed at SCPD.
Sargent chews out Oliver. Oliver calls it a miscommunication. Sergeant says how we do things matters! Oliver says you're doing things the wrong way. You should've listened to me. Dinah says we have to get used to the new way of things. Felicity says the bullet was retrieved from the armor. Midas Medical uses the chemical. Dinah says we can['t move on him until there's concrete proof. We have all eyes on us after last year with Diaz. Oliver doesn't like it.
Oliver and Felicity discuss the problem. We deliver Midas, everybody wins. She wants mint chip.
Rene and Dinah looking through boxes. She says there's always a paper trail. We should've digitized these files years ago. But there's no vigilante way. Only the SCPD way. She stuck her neck out to make this partnership work. If this fails, I lose my job. It's my ass on the line. Phone call. She says she'll be right there. Monroe found probably cause.
Midas leaving the office. Oliver goes after him. You have failed this city. And Felicity is blocking his phone system. Oliver grabs him. Tell me what you know about the chemical! He makes Midas confess. She got it recorded. Oliver arrests him.
**That confession will never hold in court. Yay for a scene of making Oliver stupid again. Felicity's immaturity encouraged him to do this and now Dinah's warrant will mean nothing.
Mayor promises there will be consequences for this mistake. Midas is released. We have no grounds to hold him. She tells Dinah are you the captain or a vigilante? I'm the captain. Then start acting like it. Mayor leaves. Dinah says I asked you to be patient. I had a warrant. Now we have nothing.
Laurel returns with Bronze Tiger's little boy. Connor Hawke! Take a seat on the bed. Dad owes Miss Lance a chat. He tells her the night Diaz died, he was in solitary. The guard forgot to close the meal slot. Killer walked by my cell wearing green leather. The new arrow is your murderer. They killed Diaz.
Rene confronts Dinah about rolling over for the mayor. You've been yelling at us and acting weird. So what's up, D? She says my cry hurt like someone was scraping knives inside my throat. Being captain is the only thing I have left. I'm not the Black Canary anymore. He says that's crap. Your cry doesn't make you the Canary. Zoe wears the pin every day. She looks up to YOU. Not the cry. Dinah says it doesn't matter anymore. Rene says you are the symbol of being on both sides.
Arrow Cave fixed up again. Hmm. Felicity did it. She says she can't believe the confession was dismissed. REALLY??? John arrives. Oliver asks him to be with them. John says you're acting like you're up against a clock. What don't I know? She says we're having a baby. He says it explains a hell of a lot. She says we're doing this the Team Arrow way. John says we'll be back where we started. Oliver says the partnership with the force is not working. John says compromise. We have to be something else. Something better.
Future - Mia insists she could handle it. William nearly expected her to say Felix, you have failed this city. You remind me of Dad. He has an idea. Mia gets him a device. William tells police there's a Canary sighting and police run away. They return to Felix. Mia slugs him. William takes the cassette player.
Arrow Cave. Why'd you call us here? To apologize. Dinah appreciates that. Says she's sorry for being hard on him. Rene suggests hugging. Oliver says we have a lead. Felicity tracked Midas' DNA from SCPD archive. Arrested 15 years ago. She legally monitored everywhere he's been for 2 weeks. He's currently at a warehouse owned by a shell corp. Oliver says we want to do things right this time. First things first, suit up.
Midas wants all of it gone. Not a single drop left behind. Take it to the reservoir. Anyone tries to stop you, kill them. Team Arrow attacks. Dinah went first.
Midas says get me out and I'll double your salaries. Overwatch tells the team he's running. Oliver tells Dinah to go, he'll secure the evidence.
Rene and John cornered, taking heavy fire. Oliver fixes that. Rene misses their toys.
Midas. Dinah attacks his goons. Arrests him. He pulls a gun on her. I'll have your badge and your costume. Oliver shoots him in the arm. Sergeant says thanks to those chemicals we confiscated, you're going away a long time. Dinah says like I said, you're going away for a long time.
Arrow Cave. Dinah tells them she won't have her cry. Lasting damage. Oliver says he's sorry. John is sweet. Dinah leveraged the mayor to let Team Arrow run in the bunker and the anti-vigilante law is on her desk for appeal. They leave for drinks. John got Felicity ginger candy chews. Lyla says they helped with nausea. John compliments her. You're on to something big.
Laurel in her office. Emiko enters. She called her here. Laurel lists the facts. And Diaz's death. You're lying about who you really are. You're not a hero. How will they feel when they find out your murdered Diaz in cold blood? Emiko counters. What makes you think they'll believe a word you say, Black Siren.
Felicity wonders if she's showing. Oliver says you look the same. She was thinking about baby names. Boy - Lucas. He has a girl name. Mia. Short for Moira. Sweet and fiery. She loves it. Oliver wants them to grow up in a better and safer city than he did. Our children will always have each other. And always have us.
Future - Mia impatient. William puts the tape in. Mia says she wanted us to hear it together. Let's get this over with. Felicity. Never said names together for 20 years. She's sorry for keeping them apart. We did it to protect you. Because we love you. Give these coordinates to the team and then get the hell out of Star City and whatever you do, don't come looking for me. Mia says we're ignoring her. William says definitely. The coordinates lead to the Glades.
Next ep - A hero's legacy is born. Giving birth to Mia in a cabin.
