Episode 7:
Wisconsin. Gateway Home for Children. 6 months ago. Jenny's birthday gift. Don't try so hard to be perfect. You don't have to be for people to like you. And it's a little annoying. Jenny sits on the porch and opens the box. A red car. Todd.
Civic City. Same moment. Todd and Danny. Danny wants to give Todd a special night for his birthday. I know it's a hard day for you. They broke into a restaurant after closing. Danny says open the bottle of wine while he starts the steaks. Card for Todd. With a ticket. He looks at the photo of him and Jenny as littles.
She finds Dad's ring.
Candles blow out.
Wind around her. Eyes glow green.
Todd's eyes go green.
The ring flies around.
Todd flung on the ground.
Memory of the kids torn apart. Todd screams and shadows fly around the room. Danny runs in, worried about him. Police arrive outside. Todd tells him to go in an otherworldly voice. Danny flees. Officers ask you Todd Rice? We're not after your buddy. How do you know my name?
They bring Todd to the home. Paid to bring him. Nurse greets him in the rain. You're safe. Now come. If you're hungry, we can ask the kitchen to rustle up something. Happy birthday. You're 18 today. A real milestone. Helix is a place for special youth. Todd says his father is dead. When he lived, he was the wielder of great power. Your father was the Green Lantern. What is this place? Hope. Mr. Bones! I understand different. But Different can be good.
Blue Valley. Courtney's house. Quiet dinner. Michael, would you care for some chicken? Please, Father. LOL. Courtney and Barb talk about school. Everything is fine. Beth needs 10 more minutes. Try to act normal. Pat asks Mike to say grace.
Zeek and Jakeem and Rick playing a board game.
The diner. Yolanda's mother is on the phone. So, you're actually there this time. this is the first late shift you've done all month. What have you been doing, Yolanda? Who have you been with?
Beth's working on the last firewall. Only firewall. She doesn't know if she would've found the cameras if Gambler hadn't first. Operation Blackout Bomb.
Yolanda's mother wants the truth now. Yolanda says she'll explain as soon as she's home.
Zeek telling a story about a stolen Studebaker. Rick's playing Trouble all on his own. Time ran out.
Sylvester tells Beth it's do or die. She shuts down the grid in the whole town.
Beth doesn't know how long the power will be down, so they have to find the cameras and take them down ASAP.
the watcher wrecks his puzzle.
Beth and Hourman at the school. Camera pointed at their table. Rick still a ray of sunshine. He rips the camera out of the wall. Tells Beth that the Hourglass works 24 7. Being Hourman can be fun. Finally. She's not as thrilled.
Pat in the basement. He asks Courtney if she's okay. She says she's just worried about finding the cameras. Pat says you can talk to me about anything. He's sorry she's not getting along with the others. She says it's her fault. Cindy's gone. I don't even know if they're my friends. They don't need me now. They have Starman. Maybe getting them started is all I was meant to do. Wind ...... The Shade appears! She asks if he knows about the cameras. He doesn't care about what's happening in Blue Valley. He needs her help now. Grabs her. Pat runs after them. They disappear in shadow travel.
Yolanda got the camera in her kitchen. Sylvester tells her she just needs to talk with Courtney. It'll be okay. Her mother confronts her. Boys? Drugs? Worse? Demands Yolanda's phone. Yolanda says if you love me, you'll trust me. Her mother says give me your phone this minute or get out of this house.
Mike checks on the basement. Dad? Court? Dad? Just the flashlights. He turns around and yells for Barb.
Shade took them to a basement. He'd send Stripesy right back. If he could. His abilities are coming apart. And the one seamstress that could put them back together... You already have the misfortune of knowing her, too. Jenny! She says the Shade never listens to what she says. They've clearly been bickering for quite a while. Jenny tells Courtney she found her brother and he needs our help.
**Good we're finally picking up with where last season ended. We got the tease about Helix, then this season focused on other things.
Dark in the Home. Guard wandering the halls.
Jenny says her brother is upstairs. He's been their prisoner this entire time. Shade says for weeks, when I was accessing the Shadows, I was drawing in some emerald light and it hurt. I found this girl. And she has no idea how to control the ring. She says his shadows are corrupting her ring. Pat asks how they got tangled up. The black residue before they fought Eclipso. She thought the ring destroyed it. But Shade thinks it was pulled into the ring instead. Shade says Jenny needs to exorcise the darkness from the ring. Jenny thinks Courtney can help. Courtney tells how she got free of Eclipso and thinks Jenny saving her brother is the key. Shade says alright....let's save the brother.
Todd under some light ring. Nurse watching. Mr. Bones says Six months of treatment. We need to be more aggressive before we lose control.
Wish in the Pit Stop. A pile of cameras. Jakeem tried to be specific. Zeek says the wishes are like a board game. Clue. If you don't know who the killer is, you don't have the strength of confidence the wish needs. Zeeks' grandma was D&D dungeon master of 1987. The wish needs drive. Passion. Desire. you gotta want something with every fiber of your being and all of your heart, so much it has to come true. Zeek finds a camera with a flashcube. And a Beta Max. LOL.
Barb and Mike wondering how Courtney and Pat vanished. A knock. It's Yolanda with a bag. I know Courtney and I aren't speaking, but I had nowhere else to go. Barb hugs her.
Hourman aggressive in the school. Beth tells him to stop. He says he needs to flex. It feels good. Another camera. Power comes on. uh oh. Rick tells the camera Whoever you are, we're coming for ya. Then destroys it.
**This is why Starman told Rick that the limiter was there for a reason. Rick is already a jerk this season, so this is just a wonderful addition. He was sympathetic in the previous seasons, so what's up this year?
Sneaking up from the Home basement. Which way? Don't know. Shade senses something. Your brother is down there. How do you know that? I'm not sure. They find a locked door. Jenny uses the ring. It unlocks, but hurt them. Todd's door. Shade can't enter! Jenny and Courtney run in. It's me, your sister. Jenny? Todd says you take me out, I'll destroy the world. Jenny's not leaving him here. Green glow. Then Todd yells in the explosion of black. A shadow monster on the table. Pat and The Shade move to shield the girls and get hit with the shadows.
Black and white. they're lying on the road. People walk by without noticing them. Classic cars on the street. Honking car tells them to get out of the way.
Next ep - the Shadow Lands. he tells Pat it'll prey on your fears. Bones tells Courtney that you and your friends will all die.
