"Frenemies - Chapter Eight: Infinity Inc. Part Two"
DEMONS FROM THE PAST - Desperate to avert a major crisis on their hands, Courtney (Brec Bassinger) attempts to help a friend navigate their powers. Elsewhere, Pat (Luke Wilson) and The Shade (guest star Jonathan Cake) are forced to face their worst fears. Amy Smart and Trae Romano also star. Episode 8:
Pat and The Shade in the Shadowlands. Jenny has the power of light and her brother has the power of shadows. Swift doesn't know why. The theater door is locked. okay, then. I'll do it right here. But Shade's struggling. Green blasts him back. Pat asks if he's okay. No. I'm as useless as.....you.
The Home locking down. An Asian girl with her retriever Carter. Other rooms locked.
Todd. Courtney tells him he can control this. Focus on family! The shadow moves back from Todd and takes the form of a man. You like boys? That's sick. My group home is for normal kids. You're filth. Tainted. You'll be alone forever. I'll beat your sins out of you for as long as it takes. Jenny touches Todd with her green light.
**Sigh.....another abuse in the foster system story.
Courtney wakes up. Light flickers. She's lying on a couch. The nurse's office. She's locked in. She grabs the phone. Nurse enters. you have caused quite a lot of trouble tonight, young lady. Courtney says you lied to us. You said Todd wasn't here. Her sister's been looking for him everywhere. Nurse says you interrupted a very important procedure and you have endangered everyone including him. The whole world could be swallowed in shadow if we don't help him. You're going home, Stargirl. Courtney tells her Pat got sent to the Shadowlands. It's where the Shade gets his power from. And Todd, it seems. Nurse locks her in again.
Camera looks at her.
Swift says Jenny's ring is still connected to the Shadowlands. The sky flashes green. That's not normal. The Shadowlands has rules. This place preys on your emotions. If you give into them, it could jeopardize us both. And doorways? Rarely take you where you want to go. Or work out for the best. Swift opens the door for the diner. It's empty. He says it should've taken us somewhere else. The diner is insignificant to me. Gambler is here. You didn't forgive me here. He taunts Swift about his sister Emily. They exit and end up in...
The garage. A dropped wrench. Who is that? Willys jeep. Pat's dad tells him to grab a wrench.
Jenny and Todd pulled apart as kids. Jenny's nightmare. She's in a cell or something. touches gunk on the wall. Tries the door. Let me out! She tries using her power. Mr. Bones says the room is designed for her protection, and ours. The walls are coated. I'm a friend. I'm an ally to you and your brother. I only want what's best for you both. I'm sorry, but you and Todd can never be together again.
Todd under light treatment again.
Shadowland garage. Pat's dad asks him to help with the Willys. It keeps overheating. Swift says we should go. The father construct tells Pat he ruined everything. I was never proud to call you my son. Swift tells Pat this is the Shadowlands. A nightmare construction. Twisting people's words. Pat says no, my father spoke all of this. Swift says we need to go. Pat says Still miss you, Pop. They use another doorway.
Victorian room. A coughing person. Swift doesn't want to be here. Doorknob burns him. She asks if he's come to say goodbye. Don't let me die alone. Don't ignore me! Say something. He tries the door again, but the knob still won't work. Pat tries to talk to him. Courtney faced her darkness to survive the Shadowlands. Face things! you don't run away. Swift says he's incapable of feeling anything. Pat kicks the door open. Green light overwhelms them.
Courtney sitting in the office still. Have you been watching us? In our town? Our school? Our homes?! you picked the wrong people to do this to, you know that? Our friends will be coming for us. For you. You think I'm helpless without my staff. I'm not. Mr. Bones says you're not like Jenny and her brother. You're not like me. He enters. You'll have to try harder to scare me. He says my appearance isn't my choice. His mother was experimented on while pregnant. He has a cyanide touch. It kills everything he touches, even his mother. Nurse Love rescued him. I'm cursed like Jenny and Todd. We were born this way. Here at Helix, we teach our patients how to survive alone. Jenny's infected power destabilized Todd. If we can't fix him, he'll destroy us all.
Swift says he can't travel through the fire like that again. He wasn't there when his sister died. I couldn't. I had to separate myself. Losing people is too hard. Pat's father arrives. Forget the Limey. We're not done.
Jenny needs to be far from Todd. Courtney says I know what it's like to lose family. Jenny and Todd are meant to be together. She's the light he needs. Our power reacts to how we feel. That connection is the only thing that can save him. And bring Pat home. Life can't be living in isolation. If we're alone, what's the point in anything? Mr. Bones says if you're wrong, we all die.
Jenny's room opens. Courtney asks if she's alright. Todd is waiting for you. You need to be with him. You were frightened. Todd became a living doorway to the Shadowlands, I think. Stand with him. Have. Faith. They leave the cell.
Pat's father brings up Mike. Barbara says Mike feels worthless. You'll die alone, Mr. Swift. Like your sister. No one will say goodbye because you haven't earned it. Mike's mom left him in a soup kitchen when he was 3 or 4. You wanted him to forget Maggie, like you did. Mike feels as unwanted as Courtney does. Mike says one day I'll hate you as much as you hate your dad. Pat says I don't hate him. I never did!
Building shaking. Shadows fly out of Todd. Courtney tells Jenny to go to him. She enters. He's floating. turned into shadow again. He says she needs to leave. Jenny says she's not going anywhere.
Todd and Jenny in the memory. He doesn't understand. Jenny says we finally found each other.
Shadowlands on green fire.
Jenny says Dad left his ring for me. We'd find each other with it. Dad knew. We'll always be connected. The light and the darkness. She sends the shadow out of the ring into him.
The little versions break free and hug each other.
Jenny and Todd hug.
Pat tries to get Swift to come with him. You die here or die there. Pick one! Fair enough, Pat Dugan. They run out the doorway.
Jenny and Todd are stable. Swift appears next to them, and Pat.
Daylight. Todd packed up. Nurse admits they were right. Mr. Bones is calming other patients. They normally don't have this excitement. Nurse says no one is being held against their will. Courtney corrected. She accuses them about the cameras. Nurse says they did no such thing. Don't be ridiculous. Swift is ready to be done here. Todd's going with his sister. Nurse doesn't think it's wise. But best of luck. She tells Pat I trust we'll keep each other's secrets.
Mr. Bones says Courtney might have been right. Maybe Helix should form a team of our own.
Swift can't believe there's someone with powers like his. Sympathetic. When I first experienced them, they were frightening. Pat says help them. If anything can help Todd, it's you. Redemption is about doing good. Those kids? They're the orphans left behind by the JSA. Swift says that's enough. Kids catch up. He'd like to extend a hand......if you're amenable to the shadows? Todd says yes. Jenny want to go to NY to find Sandy Hawkins. She has nightmares of people in trouble. Dreamt of us and reached out to me. Shade agrees. Buts says none of your theatrics. they leave. Courtney wonders how they get home.
By bus. Courtney's happy about the results. I helped people without the staff. I need to not give up! On the villains, my friends, on myself. Pat says sounds good. All of it. He can't shake it. She understands. Shadowlands stuff is really hard to see. He's not ready to talk about it, yet. She says whenever. Pat? This has left us with one questions. Who's spying on us?
Blue Valley. Underground. Utility company manhole. Tunnels. A hooded figure sees Hourman on the monitor and punches it.
Next ep - She wants to tell Cameron everything. And Hourman goes berserk.
