"Fidelis Ad Mortem"
When a recruit officer at the NYPD Academy is killed, Beckett and the team go back to their old training ground to investigate. Meanwhile, Castle must reckon with a decision with profound consequences for him and Beckett, on “Castle,” MONDAY, MARCH 21 (10:01-11:00 p.m. EDT), on the ABC Television Network.
Episode 15:
Shot fired. A hurt man is trying to crawl away, but he dies.
Rick making breakfast. Kate kisses him good morning. He made strong coffee. She asks about what he found out. He wants to eat first. Martha arrives. Kate hides. Martha came to make him breakfast. Well, she got an advanced copy of her book and she wanted him to see. The dedication is to him. About his "constant stumbles". LOL. Kate calls him. She got out. Love you.
Murder scene. Espo says it's a John Doe. Lanie says the victim bled out. Then the killer cut out the bullet. Between 9 and midnight. Ryan says the victim is a recruit officer at the academy.
Espo checked the victim's phone. They've gone to the Academy. Kate says it wasn't that bad here. Says the All-star.
Kate meets with the Dep. Commissioner. Daniel Bardot's file. Sgt. Ortiz has been assigned to help her. She asks about Daniel. He grew up in the Irish Mafia territory. Sarge says Daniel would get too emotional sometimes.
Rick's office. He thinks the universe is telling him to take his advice. Hayley tells him to tell Kate!
Espo and Ryan check out Daniel's room. Talk to another recruit officer. Sarge tells her she forgets her place. Kate says she offers insight. Asks what the victim was struggling with. Sarge dismisses her. Kate says that's a little harsh. He doesn't think so. That recruit needs to learn humility to excel.
Lanie says the gun is NYPD, registered to the Academy. From Company 38. One of the fellow recruits. Kate meets them. We'll have to use every trick in the book to uncover who killed Daniel Bardot.
Kate's a special guest instructor. She says she has the best detective looking into the murder. But this won't be the last time you lose a coworker. She walks among them, examining them. Tells them not to lock away their emotions. She addresses Cambers first. How do you feel? Decker says she can't wait to start putting bad people in prison where they belong. Sarge says 10 recruits were off campus at the time of the murder. Kate says 3 of them have a stamp from the club across the street. Leaving 7. She says the killer is on a razor's edge. She wants to put them in a stressful sim and watch them use a gun.
They watch them go through the sim. Kate says where is Bardot's tactical gear? She looks in his locker. There's a message. Keep your mouth shut, Bardot. Dead men tell no tales.
Espo has a dead end. Castle comes in. Says Kate's at the Academy. Ryan says the boxing gym is a hotspot of steroids. Rumor is a trainer was dealing to a rookie cop. The boys interrogate the trainer. Give up the cop at the Academy. He says we've never met. He puts cash in a locker and I leave drugs. The buyer shoves an index card in my locker. Blue one? Yeah.
Kate with the recruits. Telling them how to interrogate and interview. I need a volunteer. Ms. Lopez. Kate asks her about where she was. Kate asks if she had a drink? Yeah, a few. Lopez asks what's in the bag? Kate tells Decker to take her place. Was Ms. Lopez telling the truth? Were the 4 of you together all night watching the fight? No. Lopez and Takata left early. Kate asks if she knows what a PED is. Yeah. Performance Enhancing Drug. Kate asks Chambers to get in the seat. Chambers runs. Into Ryan and Espo.
Kate talks to Chambers in interrogation. He wants a lawyer. She's wagering on how long he lasts without protective custody. Chambers wants a deal. He sent the note to Bardot. But Bardot needed $5000, so he paid up. Decker was his girlfriend.
Decker training hard. Kate says show me. Kate says shut up and listen. Shows her how to arrest without losing the suspect. Good, you're a quick study.
Espo says they found the weapon. Bullets had Bardot's prints on them.
Kate asks Decker about dating Bardot. Are you going to boot me? No. But I need you to be honest from now on. Decker agrees. Kate asks about the money. Decker says no clue. Danny was hiding something. He went out recent nights. Smelled like rotten fish.
Ryan offers Chinese food. Bardot might've bought black market hardware or software. Espo found a fish market.
Rick comes to Kate's office. You were right. I uncovered the reason my memories were erased and it's bad. I knew about Loksat a year ago. She asks why he chose to forget it. He says to protect you. From yourself. Espo says we found something and leaves. Kate says she needs time to process this.
Cam footage of Bardot an hour before murder. Bardot was talking to Flanagan through a 3rd party. He was in league with the Irish Mafia. Kate has a theory that Bardot had second thoughts and got killed for it.
Ryan tells Kate about Bardot's computer. He must've cracked the commissioner's computer. She says dig into Flanagan.
Kate goes to him. Flanagan denies all. She says she'll prove he killed Bardot. He says 20 years and no one's had proof. Get the hell out of my store. She says it's the cocky ones that go down.
She comes to Castle's loft. You lie to protect me, I lie to protect you. She's not going to yell or throw around blame. She pours drinks and says stop talking. He asks what are we doing? She pours more drinks. They go to bed. She leaves.
Morning. Espo says Flanagan's reach goes deeper than Bardot. He has a second mole.
Decker says I'm not a mole and neither was Danny! She says Danny must've made a deal to protect me. She is Flanagan's daughter from a one night stand. He threatened her. She panicked. Told Danny. She didn't know he'd offer himself in her place. What do I do, Captain? Kate says there's only one move. You want to bring down Flanagan? You're the one person he might open up to. You need to wear a wire.
Kate rigs up Decker. Panic phrase. Decker will says she could use a scotch. Espo and Ryan are worried. Kate says she can handle it.
Decker goes to Flanagan. Enters the store. Flanagan is surprised to see her. Asks why she's here? Speak! She asks why he killed Danny?! She pulls a gun on him. Admit to killing Danny or I will end you.
Flanagan says he had nothing to do with it. He's not lying. Kate and the boys come in. Kate tells Decker to put the gun down. Flanagan says Bardot marched in. They made a deal, shook hands, and that's it. I don't know who killed him. A dark sedan followed him. That's it, I swear. Kate says he's telling the truth. Stand down! Decker finally lowers the gun. Flanagan chuckles. You're more like me than you know. Decker gives the gun to Kate.
Hayley asks Castle how the talk went. They sat around drinking whiskey and avoiding the subject. She left without waking me. Hayley tells him to do something about it. We track down Loksat. I can start now, say the word. He says he won't make a decision without Beckett. Hayley's happy he said that.
Decker wants to quit. Kate says no. I'm not giving up on you. Don't let your father define who you are. Decker says she's going to clean out her room.
Kate tells the Sarge Decker is quitting. He says it happens.
Espo got the sedan on camera. It's a police car.
Kate's phone rings. Car is registered to the Sarge. They pull guns on each other.
Kate says I know what you did! You took Bardot out! He says he hasn't used that car for days. Shots fired at them. She drags the Sarge to safety. It was Malone. Bardot caught his hand in the cookie jar. He took "what he was owed". He shuts the lights off. Turns the sim on in the range. He's trying to find Kate with night vision goggles. She gets behind him and knocks him out.
Sarge only took a bullet to the shoulder. Medic wheels him out. Malone was arrested. Kate asks Decker how she is. Stay with the NYPD. Do you want to be a cop or not? Yes.
Kate says she can't do this anymore. He can't, either. He says he can't sit on the sidelines anymore. I want in. She says good, I need you in. This is our fight now. He says he was shot in LA. Loksat came to town 2 hours before that. We're looking for a needle in a stack of needles. She kisses him.
