Agent Carter - Episodes 1 and 2 Recaps and Review

Agent Carter Premieres!

It's 1946 and peace has dealt Agent Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell), a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy finds herself stuck doing administrative work when she would rather be back out in the field, putting her vast skills into play and taking down the bad guys. But she is also trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, in the wake of losing the love of her life, Steve Rogers – aka Captain America. When old acquaintance Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper, “Marvel’s Captain America: The First Avenger”) finds himself being framed for unleashing his deadliest weapons to anyone willing to pony up the cash, he contacts Peggy -- the only person he can trust -- to track down those responsible, dispose of the weapons and clear his name. He empowers his butler, Edwin Jarvis (James D'Arcy), to be at her beck and call when needed to help assist her as she investigates and tracks down those responsible for selling these weapons of mass destruction. If caught going on these secret missions for Stark, Peggy could be targeted as a traitor and spend the rest of her days in prison – or worse.

“Marvel’s Agent Carter” stars Hayley Atwell (“Captain America: The First Avenger,” “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”) as Agent Peggy Carter, James D'Arcy (“Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World”) as Edwin Jarvis, Chad Michael Murray (“One Tree Hill,” “A Cinderella Story”) as Agent Jack Thompson, Enver Gjokaj (“Dollhouse”) as Agent Daniel Sousa, and Shea Whigham (“American Hustle,” “The Wolf of Wall Street”) as Chief Roger Dooley.

Tara Butters (“Resurrection”), Michele Fazekas (“Resurrection"), Christopher Markus (“Captain America: The First Avenger,” “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”), Stephen McFeely (“Captain America: The First Avenger,” “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”), Chris Dingess (“Men in Trees”), Kevin Feige (Marvel’s "Guardians of the Galaxy,” Marvel’s "The Avengers”), Louis D'Esposito (“Guardians of the Galaxy,” Marvel’s "Iron Man 3”), Alan Fine (“Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” Marvel’s "Thor”), Joe Quesada (“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” “Marvel’s Avengers Assemble”), Stan Lee (“Spider-Man,” “Iron Man,” “The Incredible Hulk”), and Jeph Loeb (“Smallville,” “Lost,” “Heroes”) are executive producers. “Marvel’s Agent Carter” is produced by ABC Studios and Marvel Television.

Ep 1 - Pilot

Captain America and Peggy on the com when Steve is putting the plane in the water to save everyone. She's remembering. The tea kettle whistles.

New York City, 1946. She reads an article about Stark. Several headlines.
Memories of Peggy and Steve while she gets dressed for the day. Colleen, her roommate comes home. Colleen encourages her to date. Peggy tells her to go to sleep. Roommate says, Remember we're going to the movies Saturday.

Peggy's going to work in her blue suit and red hat. Enters the call center. "Good morning, Rose." Rose loves the hat. Peggy enters the elevator.

Enters the SSR. Boss tells her to cover the phones. Peggy tells Rose to hold calls to the briefing room and follows her boss.

Stark news reel. He's been accused of selling tech to the enemies of the US. Stark is being difficult in his meeting with Congress. 6 pieces of Stark tech have turned up in the wrong hands. He's a fugitive from justice. Find him, squeeze him. Peggy says Stark is not a traitor. The men discount her. Souza defends her. He stands with the aid of a crutch. She tells him she's capable of handling the boys herself. He says yes, but he doesn't have to like it. On that, they agree. Agent Thompson hands Peggy a file to file. Ass.

L&L Automat. The waitress Angie chats with Peggy. Peggy says during the War, she had responsibility, and now, nothing. Angie says she had an audition today and it sucked. A customer complains about his sandwich, so Angie gets up. Peggy gets a note to meet in the alley in 5 minutes.

She is greeted by (Jarvis). "You're coming with me." She punches him and tries to run from a car. All the doors are locked. So she shoots the car. It's Stark. "Miss me?" LOL!

Peggy tells Stark "they're calling you a traitor." Stark says he has a vault where he kept his "bad babies". Things too dangerous. He was in Monaco last month and when he got home, someone had cut a hole in the vault. He tells her to clear his name. She says he can't be serious. But he is. "Peg, there's no one I trust more than you. Want a mission that matters? This is it. You're the only one who can stop this." Stark says stop the car. They're at the docks. He's heading overseas. Word is, one of the nasty things is hitting the market soon here. It's a formula. It could level a city block. "Jarvis is my butler and he'll help you any way he can. Only a dozen fences that can handle something this hot. Just have to find which one." "Nice to see you, too, Howard."

She tells Jarvis to introduce himself next time. "Call any time before 9." That's when he and his wife go to bed. "What now, Miss Carter?" "Now, I go to work."

Morning at SSR. She talks to Souza. He's looking at photos of Stark with a woman on a boat. She tells Daniel that Stark hates water. He can't swim. Daniel says Thompson heard about a fence about to sell an invention. She takes his coffee and brings coffee to the men in the briefing room to listen to the plan. Boss tells Thompson it's his play. Peggy asks for a sick day. Lady things. "Yeah, sure, take the day." "Thank you for your understanding. Enjoy your coffee." Hee hee.

Dance hall. Very recognizable guest actors here. The thief is talking to the fence. Money handed over. Well, the thief didn't talk. He leaves. Peggy observes, wearing a blonde wig. She goes up and applies a knockout lipstick. Meets Mr. Raymond. She speaks with an American accent. Brings up the chemical formula. Flirts with him and says she has friends that'd be very interested in that formula. "I can offer you more. Is it here? Do you want me to search you?" She kisses him. And he's out. "That was a bit premature." LOL. She goes to the safe and cracks it. Finds a glowing ball.

Jarvis's phone rings. She says they've weaponized it. This is now a bomb. Your wife will have to wait. He asks if it's glowing. Yes. "That's not ideal." Blast radius of 500 yards. He tells her how to render it inert. Avoid touching the core. Jarvis's wife calls for him and he hangs up. LOL.

Thompson and his agents arrive.

Peggy puts the bomb in her purse. And a man comes in. She beats him with a stapler and leaves. Has to avoid the agents on her way out. Grabs a man for a dance.

Mr. Raymond wakes up and finds his safe empty. A man in a green suit shoots him.

Peggy leaves.

Thompson finds Raymond dead. "Seal the damn exits."

Peggy goes home. Her roommate wakes up. She's sick with a fever. Peggy says she'll make her some tea. "Wait, were you out, out?" "In a manner of speaking." "Tell me all about it in the morning." Peggy takes some things in the bathroom to disarm the bomb. Opens it and takes the core out. And disables it. Then she pours herself a drink. She hears a noise. "Colleen?" Dead with a bullet in her head. It's the man from the dance hall!

Peggy fights with the man. There's a scar on his throat. She ends up tossing him out the window. No body on the ground. She goes to Colleen. Weeps.

L&L Automat. Peggy and Jarvis talk. Peggy's name wasn't on the lease. She'd only known Colleen a few months. "I seem to have a habit of losing people close to me. I get people killed. You know, I was damn happy to see Howard. But I mucked it up, and Colleen is dead because of me." Jarvis says she's a credit to her profession. "If the men in your office can't see that, they're fools." "But was it worth it?" "I don't think we'll know until the job is done." His wife believes he's observing the extraction of one of Stark's women from the penthouse. Heh.

They meet with a man, Dr. Venko.

Peggy goes in the files at SSR. Vita rays. She knew what they were. It's Steve's file, marked "Inactive". She remembers talking to him in the last moments. Making that date to go dancing right before the radio cut out from the crash. Souza comes in. She says I don't do this often. He says after he got hit, a chaplain asked who he should send his effects to if the worst happened. "Of course, I didn't die. But half my foot locker was missing. I can't find my leg anywhere." Ha. She tells him he's one of the lucky ones. He leaves. She finds what she was looking for.

The bad man at home. He types and the typewriter can give him answers back. It's two way! He's told to terminate Agent Carter. Finish the mission at all costs.

Roxxon. A power station? A mothballed facility. Peggy and Jarvis in the car. She tells him to stay put. She climbs over the fence and uses a device to track the vita rays. Takes out a guard.

Another bomb has been made. There's a lab in here. The man that doesn't talk is there, from the club.

Jarvis sees a truck arrive. He uses the radio to contact Peggy.

The men heard before she shut it off. Scientist has a gun and searches. She blinds him. Then goes after the other man. Who runs to a whole TRUCK of the bombs. He shows her a throat scar. He has to talk through a device. "What about the man in the green suit?" "He's not my friend. He doesn't have a name anymore. If he's here, we're dead. Leviathan is coming." He drops a bomb. "30 seconds, Agent." She radios Jarvis to bring the car around.

He's being shot at. Drives the car through the gate. She tells him to keep driving. Jumps on the car. Gets in while he's driving. She tells him to go faster. Plant explodes. "Faster!" "I am!" They just barely escape the blast. Stop the car and look. "It would seem it works."

Souza with the chief. Thompson tells the chief they're looking for an angry blonde. Photographer got a shot of her. Souza says Roxxon Refinery blew up. They can't find the building.

Peggy and Jarvis at the restaurant. She tells him he did well. He'll check Starks files for Leviathan. She tells him to get some rest. He isn't sure he'll sleep for days. He leaves. The difficult customer gives Angie grief again. Peggy approaches and threatens him with a fork. Find a new place to eat. And tip generously. Angie grins from the kitchen.

Jarvis on the phone with Stark. "Miss Carter won't have any suspicions at all." Hmmmmm.

Ep 2 - Bridge and Tunnel

Captain America Adventure Program on the radio.

Peggy asks Angie to change the station at the restaurant. Peggy's searching the paper for a new apartment. Angie suggests a building. Her building. Colleen's obit is in the paper. Peggy says she is off to see an apartment already. At this hour?

Jarvis shows her around Stark's place. It's used for....private entertaining. She says it's too risky. He shows her the master bedroom. "Perhaps for one night." Heh. They've come up with nothing on Leviathan. And the quiet men are from out of town. "We need to find that milk truck." She tells him she's going alone. Searches in Stark's closet and finds costumes.

Man on the typewriter again. Getting more orders.

Jarvis and Peggy. She tells him to cancel visits from the staff. He doesn't want to let her go alone. Shuts the door on him.

Leet Brannis. Quiet man's orders. Green suit man tortures a man for info on it. The man swears he doesn't know. Nitramene? Oh no. It's too hot, too pricey. Gino will buy it. Quiet man shoots him. Takes his knife and leaves.

Morning. The dairy gets a visit from Peggy. Health Dept. She says there have been complaints and she has a court order to search the premises. She checks the trucks. Turning up empty. She says there's a truck missing. Sheldon McPhee is the driver. She leaves.

Thompson looking at the remnants of Roxxon. Chief thinks Howard Stark did it. He and Thompson go to Roxxon offices.

Peggy gets an address. Grabs her coat. Suggests a horse to Souza to gamble on. Asks him to cover for her going out. He says the blonde was photographed at the club. She offers to help him look.

Souza gets called to the basement. Peggy's told to finish reports. With Daniel gone, she can get the pictures. She goes in the office and calls Jarvis. "Dispose of Howard's car. Make it disappear." "Very well." "Now!" "Did you locate the truck?" Not yet, but she found the driver.

Roxxon offices. Chief and Thompson meet with the owner. Served drinks. Thompson asks what came between you and Stark. "My wife." Owner says Stark attempted to purchase the refinery. He refused. And now it's destroyed. "We're not hunting you, Mr. Jones." He tells them about the formula for Nitramene. Has roots in vita radiation.

Peggy waits for her moment to break into Daniel's desk drawer to get the photos. Her phone rings. Then Daniel's phone rings. He comes back in and answers it. She's under the desk and sneaks back to hers. Chief is calling for Peggy. LOL. She takes the phone. He wants her to get the radiation scanner.

Roxxon. She enters the office and gives info to the chief. They're scanning everyone on the Roxxon staff. Chief wants her to scan the ladies.

Peggy goes into the restroom. Scans her jacket and clothes. It's in her watch. She throws it away. "Sorry, Nana."

Employees are scanned. Peggy recognizes the scientist. Van Ert. Thompson scans him. Clear. She asks if men change their clothes on site. "We need to check the clothes men wore to work this morning." The man runs. Peggy takes the stairs and knocks him down with a briefcase. Yeah!

A stick and a carrot on the table. Chief interrogating the scientist. Tells him to talk, or he's facing charges that'll lead to the electric chair. "Help me catch the bigger fish. This deal will expire as soon as I leave the room. Point us to your employer. Just give me a name. One name." Chief stands up. Takes the carrot. Thompson is left with the prisoner. He grabs the stick and tells him to bite down. Then starts beating him.

Chief tells Carter she shouldn't be seeing this.

Peggy outside the Automat. Angie has an apartment listing. A very nice listing. In Angie's building. Peggy says she shouldn't. "Is it me?" Peggy says I wouldn't make a very good neighbor. Jarvis arrives to pick her up.

Radio program time again. Peggy says it's rubbish. Jarvis says he was pleased to receive her call. He left the old car in Hoboken with the keys in it. Peggy says we have to hurry. "Thompson won't take long."

Thompson says we need a new stick. Souza is on the phone with the dairy. Chief still thinks Stark is involved. Souza gets the driver's address. Agents on the way.

Quiet man with a dead guy. Multiple dead guys. He goes back to the typewriter.

Peggy tells Jarvis to park. He asks if he should leave the engine running. She tells him he can go. She'll have her own ride home. She finds the truck, still stocked with bombs. She enters the house. Attacks the driver to the sounds of the radio program. McPhee is knocked out. She cuffs him. Hears a noise. It's a quiet man. Jarvis stayed and sabotaged the motor. She tells him to put it back so she can drive. Quiet man wants protection. "Who is Leviathan?" It only wanted one thing from Stark. Man wants protection. "Then start talking." Jarvis says McPhee is gone. "Get in the truck." She's having the quiet man drive. Other quiet man assassin drops on the roof. Oh dear.

Peggy and Jarvis try to get rid of the assassin.

Thompson and the Chief come upon McPhee. "Now that's suspicious." The man is still handcuffed to the chair. LOL.

Jarvis says pull over! "And stop shooting things!" Peggy fights with the assassin on the roof.

Agents have McPhee. "We know who you are. So who did this to you? Leet Brannis?" "You wouldn't believe me if I told you." "We'll keep an open mind."

Peggy and the man. She stabs his hand, sticking him to the roof of the truck. She and Jarvis and quiet man jump. Bad guy blows up with the truck in the water. Explosion! Jarvis asks if she's alright. Yes. "You?" "Mr. Brannis broke my fall." She asks Brannis where the weapons are. "Help me stop Leviathan." The talking device is broken. He draws a heart in the dirt with a squiggle through the middle. He dies. Sirens coming. She and Jarvis need to go to the car. "Miss Carter, please."

Agents look down at the explosion scene. Chief noticed a woman's footprints. Souza found a hotel room key.

Jarvis patches up Peggy's wound. He says she's very fortunate he ignored her instructions. She says if I allow people to get close to me, I put them in danger. He says no one is capable of carrying the entire world on their shoulders. "Steve was." "Stark said Mr. Rogers relied on you. You were his support." She tells him to resume stitching. "As you were."

Angie and Peggy at the apartment building. Angie's showing her around and making introductions. Peggy interviews with the manager. "The Griffith Hotel is a haven for proper young ladies. Curfew is 10 o'clock. No drinking, no men above the first floor, no exceptions."

SSR. Peggy sees the men looking at photos. "That Joe DiMaggio?" She says she doesn't follow boxing. They laugh. Souza says there's no clear shot of the blonde's face. But everyone's luck runs out eventually.

Radio program again. Agents have it on in the basement. Car bumper is found, and the license plate from the car. Dun dun duh!
