Episode 11:
Kai talking and talking. Elena wakes up to the sound of his voice. She's tied to a chair. They're in the Grill. He says she's really pretty. He absorbed the spell around Mystic Falls, but his magic is unreliable. She asks him what the hell is wrong with you. Told you, I have too much magic. I need to get my magic under control by practicing on you. Dead manager's body is on the table. He'd cloaked it. Ewww.
Stefan wakes up. Goes downstairs. Jeremy's in the kitchen, in a towel. Jeremy forgot he lives here. Liv is there, too. And Jo. Room is a mess. She broke some things. Ric arrives. 30 days to the next celestial event.
Damon's with Liz. He got a text from "Elena". Caroline comes in with a kale smoothie. Gets another blanket. Wants to use vampire blood. Liz says not talking about that again. She asks Damon to jump in with support. He doesn't think vampire blood will work. Liz says she'll put her faith in science. Which means following doctor's orders. He leaves for home.
Liv needs a new shirt and is stealing one of Damon's. Jo is terrible at magic. She's talking to Tyler on the phone. She's ignoring Luke's texts. Tyler tells her to make sure Luke doesn't find out she's training Jo.
Caroline and her mom go home. Stefan comes in. He moved the entertainment center in the front room. Liz says thanks, guess it didn't occur to anyone to move my chair. LOL. Caroline hands her the Friends box set. She's off to get a second opinion on her mother's cancer. To Duke. Stefan offers a ride. They leave Liz alone.
Elena wakes up in the high school. Kai looking at the trophy case. Photo of the cheerleading team. He says he's trying to turn blood into acid, and she blacked out the first time. He starts chanting. Her ring is melting. She gets loose and runs. Runs water over her ring. Kai comes in. She lights her hand on fire and turns the gas on. Runs again.
Damon comes home. Phone rings. Elena calls him from the emergency phone. Says she's at the h.s. with Kai and hangs up. Kai catches up to her. On the 3rd try, he breaks her neck.
Stefan and Caroline at a student exhibition. Caroline gets a call to meet with the doc right now. She leaves. Stefan goes to look at Sarah Nelson's exhibit. The real Sarah is explaining her process. Enzo pops up next to Stefan.
Caroline with the doctor. Hands over her mom's charts. Compels the woman to give her honest opinion. She says the doctors are doing everything right. There's no feasible medical solution. She has an almost identical patient that's just running down the clock.
Elena wakes up. Kai is in a new shirt. High school shirt. She asks if he really hasn't cared about anyone? Kai liked one of his brothers. Don't waste your energy trying to change me. I like me.
Damon and Liv get to the school. She's doing a cloaking spell outside. He says hope she spells better than she teaches. And now Liv is invisible. Luke shows up. Oh boy.
Damon calls Ric. Luke took Liv. Jo says she can do it. Jeremy has the crossbow.
Luke and Liv. Dad wants us back in Portland. You're wasting your time with Jo. She says you're stronger than me. We're supposed to be equal and we're not. You love me, but it's not a coin toss. If we merge, you win and I die. So if you want to pack the books, pack the damn books. I won't be the one reading them.
Matt found the manager's body. Called the sheriff. He says this will never end, will it. The deaths, the cover-ups. She says this is Mystic Falls, and always will be. She gets woozy and he catches her.
Caroline goes in the room of the dying patient. Looks at the file. He's asleep. No next of kin. She bites her wrist and feeds him her blood. He wakes. She compels him to forget.
Kai and Elena. He cuts her face. Working on his self-control.
Damon and Jo in the school. Kai is coming. He doesn't see them. Drops his soda can in the recycling trash. Jo's cloaking spell works.
Enzo and Stefan. He disapproves of secrets between brothers. Stefan tells him to leave Sarah alone. She has a good life in a nice home where she can feel safe and loved. You want to tell Damon? Be my guest. Stefan's phone rings. Caroline thought he was meeting her there. I'm conducting an experiment. Enzo walks away.
Elena works on her ropes. Then they're gone. Damon there. We need to get out of here. She says my ring is gone. Tunnels, then. Jo is bleeding from the nose.
Liv and Tyler. She told him Luke is stronger. He says he won't stop her from going if she's suicidal. Luke says he called Dad and said we're out. He won't kill his sister.
Jo's coughing. Lagging behind Damon and Elena. She collapses in Damon's arms. Kai sees them. Magic is hard, isn't it, Jo?
Jo tells Damon she's sorry. He tells her to go. Damon vs. Kai. Damon threw a stake into Elena by accident. Kai had made her look like him. Jo crawling away, and Kai grabs her. Jeremy shoots him with the crossbow. Ric saves Jo.
Caroline's blood seems to have worked....the man is at the vending machine. Stefan says this is too easy. Caroline begs him to believe that it'll work, that she believes it'll work. Yeah, okay. Now take me home to my mom.
Damon pulls the wood out of Elena. But she's gasping....says a splinter is in my heart. He says he'll find it. She starts giggling. Faker. Ric and Jo come in. Ric asks if she's okay. Elena says she's never felt more alive.
Enzo still at the art exhibit. He likes Sarah's work. Rambles on to the manager. Says the best revenge is cultivated. Compels her to box up all the photos.
Ric and Jo. Kai is tied up. Elena asks Damon about trying for dinner again. We'll find out tomorrow. Jo offers to help Elena with that stain. Ric sits with Damon. He believes Jo will get a handle on it. Damon says she's not strong enough. Ric says we'll wait for Kai's stolen magic to drain away. She'll beat him, she has to. They toast.
Caroline and Stefan get back. Stefan told her about Sarah. His secret is safe with her. She thanks him for coming and rewiring her mother's speakers and not treating her like a crazy person. Wish me luck. She goes in the house. Matt and Liz are in the living room. Thanks for staying, Matt. Any time. He leaves. Caroline says the expert said your doctors are doing everything right, and they can't cure you. You're dying, Mom, and we're out of options, so I gave my blood to a cancer patient and my blood healed him. I'm not ready to lose you now. You're supposed to be here for my graduation and wedding and I want all that. I want you to live for me, and it's selfish, but it's the truth. Liz wants that, too.
The man starts coughing.
Caroline puts her blood in a cup.
The man is dying. Coughing up blood.
Liz drinks.
The man begs for help. Calls for it.
Caroline tells her mother everything is going to be okay.
Next week - the blood sped up the cancer. And Damon and Elena kiss.
