CASTLE GOES BACK TO SCHOOL, ON ABC'S "CASTLE"
"PhDead" - When the body of a local college fraternity student is found gruesomely murdered, Castle has to go undercover as a professor in order to gain access to the victim's world. However, he and Beckett soon discover that behind the fun and games of college are some darker secrets the university wants to keep hidden. "PhDead" will air on MONDAY, OCTOBER 5 (10:01-11:00 p.m. ET/PT) on the ABC Television Network.
"Castle" stars Nathan Fillion as Richard Castle, Stana Katic as NYPD Detective Kate Beckett, Tamala Jones as Medical Examiner Lanie Parish, Jon Huertas as NYPD Detective Javier Esposito, Seamus Dever as NYPD Detective Kevin Ryan, Molly Quinn as Alexis Castle with Susan Sullivan as Martha Rodgers. For Season 8, Toks Olagundoye ("The Neighbors") has joined the series as Hayley.
Guest cast: Sunkrish Bala as Vikram Singh, Geoff Pierson as Michael Smith, Christine Adams as Dr. Barbara Lillstrom, Kelly Rowan as Dean Carla Feller.

Ep 3:
Prisoner running through woods. Light comes running at him. Then he's impaled on a branch. Ouch.
Castle can't sleep. He gets out of bed. Opens a box from the mail. A pyramid. Home Operating System Lucy.
Kate beating on a punch bag. She knocks Vikram down. Tells him he can back out. She can do this on her own. He says no chance. She hired him for the precinct. She says we have to get justice for the dead, and fast. If we don't do it fast, Castle will figure this out and he'll step in.
Beckett shows up at the crime scene. Espo and Ryan fill her in. Lanie says someone had to shove him on that branch. Between midnight and 2am. She asks Kate if she's okay. Kate says yeah. Just a little lost. Hope I haven't hurt him too much. Lanie reassures her.
Castle firing arrows in the apartment. Wonders how to get Kate back. Lucy asks how did you get her in the first place?
He asks Lanie if Kate has talked to her. Lanie says give her some space. He looks at the dead body. Lanie's not telling him stuff. Castle spots a devil tattoo.
Martha and Alexis at the office. Alexis brought an anti-depression kit. Castle comes in upbeat. Martha asks if he's okay. He says yes, I know how to win Beckett back. He'll solve a few cases with her and show her we're still magic. I'm a licensed investigator. I don't need to barge into the precinct to solve a case. He draws the tattoo. Alexis recognizes it.
Hudson U Red Devils. Dead guy was a college student. He was wearing a costume. Kate will break the bad news to the Dean. She hears Castle's voice. He's joined as a guest professor. Kate's face, lol.
Kate pulls Castle aside. You saw the tattoo at the morgue, didn't you? How long of a donation check did you write to be a professor? Castle, I asked for time. I need you to give me that. Dean asks why police are on her campus. Kate tells her about the dead man. Who was a star student. Kate tells Castle this is a police investigation, so stay out of it.
She tells Espo and Ryan to not work with Castle in any way. They have a suspect. Scott Powell. Peter turned Scott in for bullying and hazing. But his dad's a defense attorney. We have to get him to talk without realizing he's talking to police.
Espo and Ryan dress as college students and sit with Scott. Scott pegs them as cops right away. Espo asks where he was last night? Scott says talk to my attorney. He leaves. Castle sits with them. Espo wants to use him. Castle has a secret weapon - a blonde-wigged Alexis.
She sits next to Scott in the lecture. Castle makes a dramatic entrance. Asks the class to tell the classic motives for murder. Picks Scott. Scott insults him. Calls his writing treadmill fiction. Castle kicks him out of class.
Alexis chases after him. Scott says he made amends with Peter. He asks Alexis out. She turns him down.
Vikram and Kate talk. He shows her a photo. He's not on any facial recognition. A total ghost. Kate knows someone that can help. But he's technically dead, so you'll have to dig him up.
They go to Peter's down-low apartment. It's a BDSM dungeon. On the mirror is a message - I say when it's over, Peter.
Castle and Alexis spin a motive. Alexis says frat boys love to kiss and tell. They'll spill. To her.
She goes to a Halloween party dressed as a sexy angel. Castle is in the car with Espo and Ryan.
Castle goes into the party. Alexis is annoyed. Castle asks for a beer pong challenge.
Kate catches Ryan and Espo.
Castle's losing the game. Gets a student to talk about Peter. He was into a professor. Kate comes in. Breaks up the party. Tells Castle go home, you're drunk. Alexis helps him out. Frankenstein hits on Kate. She gets a call from Vikram.
He's found her man. She says I need your help again. Shows him the photo. He says why can't you leave this alone? She says I'm not built that way. He says I have a good life now. I'm happy. You could be, too. Just let it go. She says I can't. He says the drug shipments would've continued, and every narco has a signature. Find his, you find the trail.
Castle and Martha. Alexis shows him the bio of Professor Lilstrom. She's been out of work all week. Her cell was last pinged here. 4 blocks from the murder scene.
He and Alexis go to the building. It's a creepy place. They hear a man scream. Prisoners and cells? They get rushed by people with flashlights. Uh oh.
They're patted down. Put in a cell. Castle says this is a reenactment of the Stanford Prison study. A girl starts talking at mention of Peter's name. She wants to go home. Peter was head guard before he was demoted. Lilstrom forced him to sit in the chair. Daily interrogations. Lilstrom wants to know our secrets, the darker, the better. Castle tells a guard to open this cell. Threatens her grades. She unlocks it. Alexis asks for the girl, too. Takes us to Lilstrom now.
Lilstrom is pissed off. Castle says we're investigating Peter's murder. We found your sex dungeon and the message on the mirror. She says it's not true. Castle cuffs her. Tells the guard to open the cells, but no one leaves until he returns.
He takes Lilstrom to the precinct. Kate is mad he went somewhere dangerous. He says Lilstrom is a suspect, trust me. Kate tells Castle to find Espo and Ryan and take them to the prison.
Everyone's gone. The guard room cleared out. Castle says they took all the evidence and I let it happen......all because I wanted to impress Beckett.
Castle apologizes to Beckett. But she thanks him for what he revealed. Espo says Lilstrom is funded by the Army. Kate says we need a confession. Castle says the doctor likes mind games, yes?
Beckett threatens Lilstrom with telling the college. Lilstrom says she didn't kill Peter or sleep with him. She wasn't at the prison the night he escaped. She was at her building. She says she can help figure out who Peter was sleeping with.
Beckett and Ryan talk to Dean Fowler. Peter stood her up and she wrote the message. Kate says Peter was locked up in an experiment. The dean says Peter called her, but never showed. She says she didn't kill him and demands a lawyer.
Castle says this case isn't clean. Part of the mystery hasn't been solved, yet. We start at the beginning, back at the prison. Peter was placed in this cell. And then he escaped. How? Castle locks them in the cell so they can figure it out. Kate doesn't look happy.
Kate's trying to get a signal. Castle asks why you feel trapped in our marriage. She says I don't. He asks why she left. She won't tell. She pulls her gun. Whoa! Castle asks what he did wrong. She says it isn't about him. She loves him. Castle wants to try counseling or anything. She spots a vent above. Gets him to boost her up. She goes through the ventilation shaft. And gets out of the cell. She wonders how Peter got out of the cell. It was a two man job! Which means the killer came back!
Espo and Ryan talk to the girl that wanted out. Emily, we know about the scholarship. Peter won because he was having an affair with the Dean. She says it wasn't me! That experiment messed with my head. I snapped. It wasn't fair. I worked so hard. I saw that tree branch and...
Kate in the car. Vikram gets in. He pieced things together for the investigation. She's having second thoughts. Vikram gets it. Maybe we need to stop before we start. What should we do? She says let's get to work.
Alexis bought a case of 50 year old scotch. To closing the case. To generous expense accounts. She asks if there was progress with Beckett. He says we had a moment. I think my plan is working. It has to, right? He says we're starting a tradition. A cigar case......of cigars that blow bubbles. LOL. Cute.
Next week - Castle looking for a liar.
