"The Thanatos Guild"
NYSSA AL GHUL COMES BACK TO STAR CITY WITH A DANGEROUS MESSAGE FOR THEA - Nyssa Al Ghul (guest star Katrina Law) returns to Star City to warn Thea (Willa Holland) that a group of renegade League of Assassins members are planning to attack her. This group, led by Athena (guest star Kyra Zagorsky), is intent on finding a mysterious box that Malcolm left behind and will stop at nothing to get it. Nyssa helps Oliver (Stephen Amell) come to a life-changing realization. Joel Novoa directed the episode written by Beth Schwartz & Ben Sokolowski (#616). Original airdate 3/29/2018.
Episode 16:
Thea 4 years ago. Gets in the car with Malcolm. Anywhere she wants. But he wants to get out of here. If someone knew where I was, it'd be unfortunate for both of us. She doesn't want to hurt ever again. He'll teach her.
Temple. Assassins. Malcolm Merlyn's legacy. Lead us into the realm of Thanatos. He lost greatness in his heart. This journey could not commence until his beloved was ready. Step forward. Nyssa. The new uniforms do not impress her. The other woman says they've cleansed themselves of Nyssa's father's sins. Nyssa brought plastic explosives and a detonator. They fight. Nyssa escapes with the explosion.
Goodbye Thea cake. Thea and William. Watch over your dad. She teases Oliver about having a night light until he was 16. He tells William to get a knife and fork and plate and a reasonable slice of cake. Thea thanks Oliver for being cool about her leaving. But he did threaten Roy if she's ever unhappy. LOL. Felicity says we'll miss you. Roy says you have to visit once we figure out where we land.
Dig asks Quentin about Laurel. She's just as messy as his, but a better cook. Oliver asks where are we with SCPD? Quentin says the DA's refusal to drop your case doesn't sit right with me. Dig will worry about Diaz. Spend time with your sister. quentin excuses himself. Dig wants to take over. Something changes? Oliver says it's just you and me. We don't know what Diaz has. I don't think it should be just you.
Curtis wonders what food is served at the party. He wants to crash it. Dinah tells him to focus. Which of these cops are dirty? Curtis thinks one is hot. Dinah never noticed. Zoe comes home. Mac and cheese? Again? She goes to her room for homework. Rene starting rehab soon. Dinah gets a text from Homicide.
Roy and Thea in a car. Red car. Happily ever after. Roy doesn't want to jinx it. Tires blow. Arrow in it. Assassin comes in. And Nyssa saves them. We need to hurry. What's going on? They look like the League. Thea is out, doesn't want any part of this. Nyssa says like me, you're an heiress of the Demon. That's something you can never truly run from.
Oliver hurries in. Bunker. Nyssa says I hear you've taken my husband as your own. LOL. Oliver wants to know what's going on? Thanatos Guild. Athena took charge. Her involvement suggests a very dark purpose. Malcolm discovered a map to something powerful. He wanted Thea at his side. Thea not interested. Nyssa says you can't run from this. I need your help getting the map. Merlyn had an associate here. She does not care for me. She would not deny Merlyn's daughter. Thea agrees. I'll help you find the map and then I'm done, for real this time.
Dinah with a cop. Captain wants to take it from here. It's above your pay grade. You can leave the evidence with me. Dinah hands it over. Texts Curtis.
A bar. Thea and Nyssa. Tigressa is the contact. Girl bar. Tigressa killed her own brother. Your father had much faith in you. Thea can't say the same for him. Athena is not the leader you are. Malcolm made sure Thea is the only one who can open the map. Tigressa says it's secreted here. Thea asks why she didn't take it? Tigressa rejected the path of the League long ago. Thea thanks her. Nyssa says we need your brother. Safety in numbers.
Geared up, they're on site. Booby traps. Nyssa says we must be close. No hallways, no doors. Oliver suggests a secret chamber. It's in the floor. She sticks a knife in a crack. Takes out a puzzle box. Ancient League cypher. Tigressa dropped dead. Athena wants Thea and the map. Oliver tells her to stand down. Won't ask twice. Guild invades. Athena tells Thea to come with us, or blood will be shed.
Thea threatens Athena. Nyssa tells her to take the box and go. They create an escape. fight the assassins. Nyssa vs Athena.
Roy and Thea stopped.
Nyssa and Diggle.
Oliver takes on several.
Athena tells Thea to come with. Thea activates a trap. Athena takes an arrow in the gut.
Thea thinks she has a broken rib. Nyssa will take the map far. this is my burden, not yours. Take care of each other. She'll find someone to open the cypher. Thea says you can't do this yourself. you can't take this on by yourself. Plus we have the world's greatest mathematician right there. Nyssa appreciates the gesture. Roy and Oliver ask Thea if she's sure. Thea says the assassins made it too real. Roy asks why she won't take the out? Thea can't explain it. I need you to trust me.
Curtis and Dinah trying to steal evidence. Keep watch. Dinah goes in the evidence locker. Curtis hears something. Cop catches him. The one he thinks is hot. We met through Dinah Drake. I'm meeting her here for dinner and got lost in this new building. Vic offers to give a tour. Dinah doesn't show up for her shift for another hour. They leave.
She finds pills.
Oliver and Nyssa. Husband. You gotta stop doing that. My wife doesn't like it. Nyssa says that's the fun of it. He says you don't have to stay. Nyssa says Thea must find her own truth. She's earned your trust, whatever her actions may be. He thinks Thea shouldn't have to right Malcolm's wrongs. Oliver does this because his father asked him to. She reminds him Malcolm gave up his life for Thea. He tells her to never question his devotion to his sister. Felicity says it's a Fibonacci sequence. Starting numbers are 10 and 13. 1013 the start of the League. And Malcolm's birthday. Thea enters the numbers. Box opens. There's a scroll Nyssa takes. What does it say? Nothing.
**Invisible ink. Reveal it.
Felicity heats the paper. League writes in text that requires flame. Thea says keep working on it. Either Malcolm used different ink, or we're wasting time. Felicity scans the paper. Nyssa didn't use a computer until she was 25. Heh. Felicity asks to not be distracted. Nyssa will make sure you're not interrupted. Sister Wife. LOL.
Roy and Thea. Thea says he died for me. I can't run away from it yet. Roy says we're running TOWARD something better. You're finding any excuse to stay here. She thinks it's cute when he's insecure. He doesn't want to lose her again. She says the map is not my future. You are.
Dinah tapes up a murder board. Curtis says all Hill did is take the evidence from you. Dinah insists she's dirty. Are they Diaz's drugs? Analysis complete. It's Vertigo. Hallucinogenic. So Hill is clean? Looks like. We're back to square one.
Oliver asks Thea if she's okay. Why wouldn't I be? He says you don't have to do this. We'll stop Athena. You can go and live your happily ever after with Roy. Felicity told Thea that Oliver stopped being the Green Arrow. Oliver worries John will get over his head. I gave it up to be a better father, but William accepts me as the Green Arrow. I don't want to give it up. I don't know why. Thea says it makes you complete. The best version of yourself. Maybe that's why I can't give this life up. Maybe I'm hoping I'll get the same thing and find the best version of myself, whoever she is. Dig found Athena and the Guild. Holding the city hostage. Thea won't allow it. Still my home. So am I going alone?
They're on site. Where are the assassins? Everywhere. With a bomb. Thea calls out to talk. Athena says it's not just the map we want. The map is meaningless without spilling your blood.
Thea and Athena fight. She says Malcolm was ashamed of Thea's weakness.
Nyssa takes on assassins. Felicity reminds them there's a bomb. Roy says lead the way.
Thea cut. Athena says Malcolm failed to make you strong.
Roy asks what to do with the bomb. Short circuit it. Oliver sends an electricity arrow. Roy disables the bomb.
Thea and Athena still fighting. Thea's on the ground. Athena says you bleed. I win. Thea threatens the map. Athena says you don't want to do that! Thea stabs Athena. Where did she go? Nyssa says that woman is hard to kill. Blood reveals the map. They weren't kidding about needing Thea's blood. Where does it lead? Nyssa knows where.
Bunker. Map printed with bacteria. Nyssa says they're ley lines. These are global. 3 things thought to only exist on Nanda Parbat. 3 Lazarus Pits. Thea says of course Malcolm did.
Curtis comes to the cop again. to ask him out. Cop says yes. tonight at 8? Awesome. Perfect. I'll make reservations. Dinah asks Curtis what he's doing here? Back in the saddle. What's wrong? Dinah says there are no Vertigo cases. They've all been kicked by Captain Hill.
Thea and Roy. She apologizes for storming out last night. It had nothing to do with you. He asks if he packed to come with him, or Nyssa. The Lazarus Pits need to be destroyed. Thea says Oliie and I were talking. When he becomes the Green Arrow, he feels complete. Right out father's wrongs. This could be my calling. Roy says you've made up your mind. So have I. I'll go with you. She says you don't need to. He says yes I do. Doesn't matter where we go as long as I'm with you.
Oliver saying goodbye to them. Call me. Keep her safe. Roy promises. Oliver reminds Nyssa of her responsibility. Nyssa says Thea needs less protection than you think. She offers a knife that annuls their marriage. Be well, Oliver. Thea says this is it. One more piece of advice - if you're going to wear the hood, stop stringing John along. They hug. I'll miss you so much. Thea says you'll be with me the whole time. One last glance and she gets in the car. Goodbye, Speedy.
