Episode 1:

Recap of season 5.
Fitz in the chamber. There's an alarm on Enoch's ship. Apologies, Agent Fitz, we find ourselves in a bit of a conundrum. I now must calculate your best chances of survival. Extremely difficult considering the circumstance. The ship is torn in half by some spinning energy!

1 year later. Some foreign planet. Piper and Davis flying in. Are they still on our tail? Nothing. We're clear. He has to land in unwelcome territory. Piper alerts Daisy they're landing. It's a little bumpy. Alien on comm. He says prepare to be boarded! Cargo hatch opens.

Aliens come aboard. Daisy there to greet them. I'm unarmed. Present authorization, Terran. She says we're desperate for fuel, so we had no choice but to land here. She's scanned. Alien asks how she expects to make payment. She says you're going to give it to me on the house. He says it doesn't work like that here princess. Who is this girl? Got a name? Quake. She breaks their weapons. His goons run away. Then she tackles and subdues him. Simmons says give us what we want. He says take the fuel. As much as you need. Simmons says no. We're looking for someone. We just want to bring him home.

Mack at base. They're waiting. Watching. Readings started after Simmons left. Mack tells the strike teams to spread out. 100 miles in each direction. May checks in. Bravo. Charlie. Delta. Spike in reading. Dialing in. Sending coordinates. Move!

Park. Teens playing. Stuff shaking.Basketball shatters like china. Birds fly out of the ground. The wall shimmers. Someone coming through it. Big guy with a backpack. Kid falls on his butt. Then runs. Another man tries to come through. Bearded man grabs his hand. Then the wall solidifies and he's stuck. May tells the man to surrender now or we will fire. He fires at the Quinjet. It's spinning out of control.

Quinjet crashed.

Mack wonders how they lost it? We needed feet on the ground. They don't know what to call these distortions. But at least no one died today. May says at least we know it's a person. Mack needs workable theories. But no contact with our brightest minds in months. Agents say this stuff sits on ley lines. You said stupid ideas are welcome. Mack wants Yo-Yo training with May. Everyone else knows their assignments. Mack is late for his morning check-in.

With a hologram of Coulson. Fury always said a man can accomplish anything when a man realizes he's part of something bigger. May comes in. He'd be proud of you. Mack wants to commemorate tomorrow. She's working on her proposal. He says hard to believe it's been a year. Glad you got a little time together. She says we got more than we thought we would. She'll have the report by end of day. He says she's doing well with recruitment. We have muscle. We need brains.

Simmons with the Dirilian upside-down. Talking about torturing him. They're looking for who attacked the ship. We want to know if you filled his ship with traceable fuel. He says he didn't. He saw fuel in the fuel lines. Didn't know about any attack. Half the ship is here!

Breaking in. Simmons and Daisy and Piper and Davis. They search the halls.

YoYo with May. Good. remember your foot position on impact. Your poker face needs work, too. I meant in the meeting today. Agent Keller is attracted to you. I bet it's mutual. Feel free to pursue it. You don't have to protect Mack's feelings. She tried everything but he locked himself in the office. Closed the doors on her. May says it's been a year. Life isn't meant to be lived alone. That's my advice. YoYo says that was a lot of words. Are you okay? LOL. May says Keller's cute. YoYo says not my type. May says yeah, that still needs work. LOL.

In the ship. No cabin pressure. Simmons wishes they didn't change the timeline. They find the cryo chamber and it's empty. Bloody fingerprints on the glass. Piper says at least it's not a dead body. Davis says yeah, but it's a dead end.

YoYo in base. Keller follows her. They need approval to chase the theory. She says go ahead. Then Agent May is on to us. Suspects. He asks if she wants to put on the brakes. She says it'd probably be wise. I'm not afraid of Mack finding out. Keller is. He'd prefer to tell Mack vs. have him stumble on it. He says it's her call. He's happy to spend his nights alone.

Bar. Mack gets a drink. May sidles up the bar. Mack's staying grounded here. And he goes to church on Sundays. She says she's close on a Dept. Head. I need you to get the yes. Here. Now. He's at the end of the bar. Older man. Mack goes over. And May. Introduces himself. Man won't shake his hand. Andrew's favorite teacher then colleague, then friend. He says he won't chase bogeymen with them. Mack says you drove 2 hours to get here. He and May bicker. His cocktail is a way to remember or forget his love. Mack says we lost someone, too. We don't want to forget. We try to fill the hole. We want brains. And we want you to find more. SHIELD Academy. Build it from the ground up in his name. SHIELD's second chance. And yours, too. Doc says in the meantime, bogeymen? Mack says we need you. You're our best option. Two of our best minds are in deep space. Until they return, we need you on this or innocent people will die.

Simmons with the cryo chamber again. In the hull.

Piper and Daisy feel gut punched. They worry about Simmons. She's never let doubt in for a second. She'll totally lose it if she does.

Simmons opens the chamber.

Piper says maybe there was an escape pod. Daisy hopes so. Either way, it's time to head home. Head home and regroup. Piper and Davis bicker about needing to not spend time with each other anymore. LOL. Daisy thanks them for staying longer than all the rest. But it'll be good for us all to get back home, to loved ones.

Simmons got in.

Beard eating in the woods. More land. Man and woman. Tinker didn't make it. Bad crossing. What about Sarge? Is his crossing clear? Nope. it's a museum. Then let's get there and blow it straight to Hell.

Bus flying out. Simmons in the chamber. finds a little plaque. Runs to a computer. Daisy follows. Piper says you've learned to read alien? She says we have to go there. Daisy says it's barely a clue. Going that deep is not smart. Simmons insists. Davis says no. What? No. I'm sorry, but this is crazy. We don't know if we can get back from that deep in space. He has a kid he hasn't seen in months. I'm the one that flies this thing. Daisy says the Zephyr is banged up. Simmons says the Zephyr is banged up because Quake has to blow things up everywhere we go. Daisy says the show of force makes them respect us. We're only a crew of four! Alarm sounds. The Confederacy. They power down to hide. It's a destroyer right over them.

Doc brought to the man in the wall. He's partially made of concrete. And has components. Cybernetic. The man wakes! It's coming. It's coming. Wave goodbye. Device falls on the floor. Time and a place. Mack runs it into Control. May, YoYo, take point.

Muncie, Indiana Museum of Natural History. Beard is there with the other mercs. Time to make some ripples.

We're dead meat. The Confederate ship is turning. Piper doesn't think they've been spotted. Davis bickers. It fires. Daisy powers up. They take evasive action. Missiles following the Zephyr.

Front shielding is down. Piper, we need to jump. Piper primes it. Enter coordinates for Earth. Simmons says coordinates already locked in. I'm sorry.

Museum. SHIELD arrives. Clears the civilians. Merc girl is told to buy time. She cuts her head. With pleasure. runs out as a panicking woman. They have him! They're kill him! Mack tells May to go in with stealth. Clock is ticking. Merc woman looks to the agent holding her. She says don't worry, you'll be a butterfly. Then the museum blows up! Communications and video knocked out.

May comes to. Ears ringing and bleeding on her and YoYo. Agent tackles the woman. May asks YoYo if shes okay. YoYo tells her to go. May tries to stand. Bloody nose. Semi arrives! Plowing through them. It stops. May on the ground again. Sarge is here with Coulson's face. Let her go. You? He doesn't ask twice. But you're from SHIELD. He shoots the agent. Never heard of it. May sees him. The semi drives away.

Someone sharpening something? Pounding on the door. Man injects himself. It's Fitz! His eyes are yellow? Let's do this.

In loving memory of Stan Lee.

Next ep - Searching for Sarge's group. Coulson? What does it mean? I don't know. But it rings a bell.

AoS is dodging the Snap of Infinity War completely in season 6. Why?

"Part of it had to do with a question of when we'd air, truthfully," Jed Whedon told reporters on a recent set visit. "We had talked about summer, but there's always a chance that we'd get moved up to the beginning of the year, and with the amount of characters and money and machine in place with Endgame--"

"The most important film of the year, let's say that's what it was," Jeph Loeb interjected.

"We had to dodge it completely," Whedon said. "Imagine if we'd incorporated it and then at the last minute, the network was like, 'You know what, we'd love to have this on in January.' Then all of the sudden, we've spoiled something horrible. So we made the decision to just be pre-snap and tell our story and just carry it forward."

It's true that there was simply no way to incorporate the snap (and the characters they'd have to lose as a result) without setting up the major potential for spoilers. Even though the timeline is now seriously wonky, the producers are confident that fans will be forgiving — and they may even find a solution to the problem in the endless Marvel mythology.

"I live in a world where there's enough Time Lords and Chronicoms that live on the internet that they'll figure it out and explain it back to us," Loeb said. "It does work, you just have to sort of figure it out."
