Episode 5:

Little Cindy had a nightmare. I don't want to be like Daddy! Mom says he's far, far away and won't find us. She tucks her in and turns off the light. But the Dragon King appears out of the dark. She screams.

Cindy remembers in present day. Observing the mural painting across the street. Grandma Mahkent says stay away from him. Your father was a monster and so are you. Cindy insults Icicle and his mother breathes ice breath and her eyes go white. Cindy walks away.

Courtney sneaks into her room. Pat's waiting for her. What are you doing in my room? Waiting to show you something. Where were you? I was out.....looking for the Shade. A super villian was more honest with me than my own stepfather. I went out to recruit him to team up. Pat says they don't need him. We have the weather. Nebraska weather this week is clear and sunny, except in Blue Valley. Pat thinks that's Eclipso. We're not going to ask The Shade for help. He's killed people, Court. He's not on our side. She says she'll stick to curfew. I'm sorry. He's sorry for not telling her about McNyder's daughter. She asks you're sure there's nothing else? Yes. Get some rest. In the hallway, the dog stares at Pat. Thunder outside. Pat says you can sleep with us tonight.

Rain in Blue Valley. Wind around the boy while he looks at the unfinished mural. Thunder. Skies are dark and gray.

Cameron in the high school. He came to use the art studio. Drops a journal and it's full of sketches of Courtney. Teacher says maybe you found your muse. Every great artist has one. Now, I'm inspired to help others find theirs. Courtney and Yolanda arrive. Yolanda pulls Courtney away. Cameron says bye. Teacher says your art can say everything you can't. Show her.

Cindy in the art room. Water drips from a faucet. Cameron enters with his cart. He thought she moved. What are you doing here? She says she'd love to see some of his work. Sure it's better than this. Sorry about your dad. He remembers what she said to their 4th grade class after her mom died. You said I never liked her anyway. I never forgot that, Cindy. So do not say that about my dad. You've never been sorry. About anything. Her shiv comes out behind her back. Paul the teacher returns and she puts it away. He still had the journal. Cameron leaves. She infects the teacher with the Black Diamond. Eclipso says hello. I am your new muse. Paul leaves the room creeped out.

Shade is waiting for Barb in her office. She asks what he's doing here? He sees where her daughter gets her bravado. And you have an extra quality, reminds me of someone. Someone long ago. She says she had enough of Jordan seeing her as a sick prize. He says you're mistaken. You remind me of family. Now, you must tell your daughter to stay out of my affairs. She says we have questions, like about the weather. He says it's better you never speak of that cursed gem again. For your daughter and her friends, they're way too young to see the horrors within. I came with warning. If your daughter learns of the location, better to give it to me. You and Pat Dugan know it. She says his card had no way to contact him. He says take another look. And now a number burns into it. Shade disappears.

Rick in the Mustang listening to the radio. Remembers his parents leaving. Solomon Grundy. Stops at Cameron's mural. Revs the engine. Cameron turns and asks if he needs something. From you? Nope. Finally, he drives away, peeling out. Cameron calls him a jerk.

The weather is the key. If we use the goggles to track the pattern. Beth and Pat. Rick arrives. Beth tells him Charles McNyder talked through the goggles last night. Pat says it could be Eclipso, Beth. He can make you see things, hear things. Things you fear, things you want. Rick says what if Beth is right, Pat? That was your teammate. Pat says if she's right, we won't rest until we find him. But until you hear his voice again, we focus on the weather patterns and finding the Black Diamond.

Paul coughing in class. Excuse me. He's distracted. Can't share the coughing. Why don't we end a few minutes early today? See you tomorrow.

He coughs up paint in the art room! His eye glows with Eclipso purple again.

Pat and Barb at the junkyard. Remember what the Thunderbolt said? Mike's lonely. $50 discount if you take the station wagon now. Pat asks Mike what he's doing here. Mike thinks it'll be a good getaway car once it's fixed up. Pat asks Zeke for a minute alone. Pat chewing out Mike a bit. What's going on now is dangerous. I get your frustration. I understand it. So let's find a JSA project that we can work on together. Start with a small one and... Mike's happy with that. Hugs Pat. Thanks, Dad.

Yolanda and Courtney. How are your headaches? Better, actually. Courtney wants to talk to Cameron. I'll catch up. Anything big happens, text me. She loves the colors. Is that...? Yeah. Going to be my dad. Cameron wanted to show her something. But it's kind of weird. Opens the journal. Shows her a sketch portrait.

Paul coughs. Eclipso says you have been blessed. Who are you? I'm your muse. Your art deserves to be witnessed again, doesn't it? What do you see? Nothing. What. Do. You. See? I see it now....it's beautiful.... SHOW THE WORLD! He paints frantically on the wall.

Cameron brings her home. My mom loved the gardens it's why they bought the house. He thought he might go to art school. But being an artist feels kind of selfish. She says denying the world your talent could be selfish, too. They're leaning in when Courtney gets texts. I have to go. I'm so sorry. You can sketch me as many times as you want! Her phone is blowing up with texts. She repeats I have to go. He says you did this last year. You always leave. Or never show. She says last time, I promise. I'm really sorry.

Beth tracking weather patterns and epicenter is right above us. Courtney notices Mr. Deisinger's car. He could be in trouble. Team enters the high school. Electrical disturbance. They creep through the hall. Open the art room. It's splattered in paint. A room of crazy. Rick asks what the hell happened in here? Courtney looks at the wall painting. They pick up paintings of their baggage. Eclipso in their heads. Yolanda's in pain. Wind in the room. A face comes out of the wall painting at Courtney!

What is that? Courtney says Eclipso! The black is growing. Rick punches the door off. Yolanda taunted. And Rick. Who's the monster? Him? Or you? Beth taunted with her parents splitting up. Courtney shoots at the blob. Hears their teacher and runs down the hall. He's covered in the blob. Do you have the Black Diamond? He is blinded by the darkness. I see only darkness. She shoots light at him. Grab the light! He reaches toward the staff. He's glowing.

Where did the paintings go? I don't know. What just happened? The team is confused in the hallway.

They find Courtney and the teacher. Mr. Deisinger? My muse.....I lost my muse.

Pat says Mr. Deisinger is under psychiatric evaluation. Kids tell him he made us see things that weren't really there. It was so scary. But he didn't have the Black Diamond? No. Eclipso is getting stronger. His powers are spreading beyond the Black Diamond.

Beth at home. Her parents saw breakfast, but not her. Beth? She says I can't pretend anymore. I found divorce papers. What is going on? I deserve to know. They say it's a mutual decision, but they haven't decided to go through with it, yet. It doesn't change how much we love you. Beth doesn't understand. Mom needs to get to the hospital. But maybe we talk tonight as a family. Dad says let's do that. They hug her. Then leave.

Artemis asks Cindy why the plan is changing? Cindy says forget Cameron. The Diamond is all we need. But there's one more piece to the puzzle. Mike.

Cameron painting the mural. His father's face. His hand hurts and he drops the brush. It's covered in frost on the ground.

Next ep - Cindy wants to hurt Courtney. First your friends, then your family, then you.
