"You Decided That I Was Worth Saving"
BONNIE'S CHOICE - As Enzo (Michael Malarkey) continues to fight the control over him, Bonnie (Kat Graham) finds herself at the center of a deadly game and forced to make a heart wrenching decision involving two of the most important people in her life. At the Armory, Alaric (Matt Davis) researches a mysterious artifact that he hopes will help in their fight to get Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Enzo back. Finally, Damon's downward spiral leads him to Tyler Lockwood (guest star Michael Trevino) who attempts to talk some sense into him before it's too late. Paul Wesley and Candice King also star. Michael Karasick directed the episode written by Chad Fiveash & James Stoteraux (#803). Original airdate 11/4/2016.
Episode 3:
Car crash! Water. Elena in the car crash that killed her parents.
Ambulances at the bridge. Damon and Sybil watching the scene. Sheriff says confirm 3 fatalities. The Gilberts. Sybil says so sad. Did you know her? Damon says no, I never met her.
Enzo and Sybil. She wants him to turn off the switch. Tries getting in his head again and again. Damon reading again. Sybil has a 50,000 to zero record on controlling men. Enzo frustrates her. We have to move on to Bonnie. Enzo says she's nothing to me. She tells Damon to kill Bonnie Bennett. He says sure.
Caroline wakes up in bed. Bonnie surprises her. We are celebrating! Drink too much champagne, then wedding dress shopping. Caroline says you don't have to put on a happy face right now. Bonnie says she's not. You asked me to be your bridesmaid at 10 years old, I'm happy, I swear. Bonnie says we're planning THE June wedding. She brought Caroline's wedding dream book. Screams of joy. How did Ric take the news?
Stefan came to see how Ric is handling it. He says he's fine. Don't make me prove how fine I am. Interns here. He's working from home. He tells Stefan what the interns think they're researching. Ric shows him the ancient thing. Looks like a tuning fork. Stefan suggests stabbing her with it. Ric says possibly, but we only get one chance because if we're too close to her, we're hers.
Caroline wants A-lines and sheaths. Now for Bonnie's Maid of Honor dress. Bonnie is honored. Caroline tosses a bouquet and Damon catches it. Shop girl is dead. Bonnie run. Damon throws Caroline. Looks for Bonnie. Poor Bon Bon. Always the bridesmaid. They stab Demon. Caroline sticks him to a cabinet and takes Bonnie's hand and runs.
Enzo frees Damon. Sybil looking at dresses. You got beat up by a girl. She pokes at Enzo's head again. She figures out Damon and Bonnie have history. She goes in Damon's head.
Bonnie memories from the past 8 years. Sybil sees how they "died" together. Sybil holds Damon's hand in Bonnie's place. Much better. Now, we have work to do.
Bonnie calls Stefan. Caroline says it doesn't make sense, but we need weapons, lots of them. He says crossbows are still in the library. He'll track Damon. He tells Ric he doesn't have days. You have hours.
Caroline and Bonnie grabbing the weapons. Where's all the ammo?
Damon calls Stefan from the high school. I need a favor. Whatever desire you have to save me, I need that right now.
Sybil's in the house!!! Hi, Bonnie. So glad to finally meet you.
**So, what are Sybil's attributes besides the siren song mind control? Speed? Strength? Immortality, obviously.
Sybil looking at Caroline's wedding book. She likes the taste. Bonnie asks what do you want? Why are you so special? I get Enzo. It's the Damon of it all that has me stumped. Did you ever....? No. No. Sybil says you are gorgeous and Damon is scorching. You can't spell Damon without Damn. So explain why you inspire so much devotion. Sit down and we'll have a little heart to heart. I can make you, but it's excruciating, and will mess up your hair.
Georgie talks about the pitchfork and the Devil. Ric says shouldn't it have 3 tines? She says not when it was forged. He wants to know how it would be used as a weapon. She says you're treating this like it's real.....
Damon tells Stefan I need your help. I literally can't form the words. It comes out applesauce penguin. Stefan says if you can't help me, I'm running out of options. Damon has Enzo unconscious in the trunk.
Sybil asks Bonnie what's your secret? Bonnie doesn't know. Caroline says you won't get what you want. Bonnie is fiercely loyal and would do anything for people she loves. Sybil says we can work with that. What if you had to choose between them? I need 2 loyal soldiers and these two are working my last nerve. I only need one of them. The other will die and live an eternity of pain. Bonnie will choose. Bonnie says you're jealous. You're threatened. You have to destroy it in the worst sadistic way you can imagine. No deal. Not playing. Sybil says you're no fun. What was fun - Ancient Rome. The Gladiator games in the Coliseum. Damon and Enzo will fight to the death in 12 minutes. They don't have a choice, I willed it so. If you won't choose, we'll let them work it out themselves.
Ric making sandwiches for the girls. They're playing with the thing. Drop it and it's a tuning fork like I thought! The ringing made the girls scream.
In the car with Sybil. The bell dinging because Sybil doesn't have her seatbelt on. Sybil says she doesn't need to wear it. Caroline asks why isn't she on a beach in St. Tropei? Bonnie says this plan is a bit small for a mythical creature. Caroline texting.
Damon and Enzo bickering. Stefan tries to reason with Damon. Enzo says it's pointless. She's messed up all the safe places in his brain. No telling the damage she's done.
Sybil taunts Bonnie. Say the word and you decide who lives and who gets eternal torment. They're going to the other place where all they'll know is loneliness and despair forever and ever.
Damon's trying to survive.
Sybil attacks Caroline's head. you think Stefan is going to swoop in and save them?
Stefan tells Enzo to run. Damon says I didn't bring you here to be Switzerland. I'm counting on you to remember you're my brother.
Sybil taunting Bonnie. Bonnie slams on the breaks and Sybil flies out the windshield. At least now she has to walk.
3 o'clock. Fight!
Stefan tries to keep Damon and Enzo apart. Enzo doesn't want this. But he has to do what he has to do.
Sybil wakes up on the road. She's damaged. Sings to a nearby car.
Bonnie and Caroline. Caroline says we'll make it in time. Bonnie says Stefan will help Damon. There's no one who can fight for Enzo.
Ric says Seline will be here in a half hour. Georgie wants to know what's really going on. He says he's off to do battle with a mythical creature from the ancient world. Wish me luck.
Damon and Enzo on each other. Stefan's down. Damon asks for help. Caroline stops Stefan from hurting Enzo. Enzo and Damon break their necks. Damon stakes Enzo. Bonnie pleads for Damon to fight. I know you can. Damon he's your friend! Stop! Sybil says he can't. Choose. Bonnie pleads. Damon says sorry, not sorry, Bon. She chooses Enzo! Sybil tells Damon to remove his hand without Enzo's heart in it. Damon pleads with Bonnie. Bonnie says somewhere deep down, you're in there. She can't have stripped it all away. But I can't let him die. I choose Enzo. Sybil says it's so touching. Damon says he'll fight all of you. Sybil says no one has asked what I want. She says Enzo is nothing but a burden. My only problem is with you, Bonnie. You chose wrong. Damon will kill you. Damon kills Bonnie, I kill you, unless you give me what I want. Turn off your humanity, pledge your loyalty to me, and we go home happy. Enzo doesn't see options. Bonnie pleads. Sybil tells Enzo to save himself and Bonnie. Do it. Enzo tells Bonnie you can pull me back. I know you can. He kisses her. Then flips the switch. Bonnie cries. He goes to stand with Damon. Sybil is happy. She wants to kill Bonnie. Enzo doesn't object. Sybil will count down from 10, then let Damon finish what he started. Enzo is not going to help. Stefan and Caroline won't be much help, either. Bonnie runs at 4.
Bonnie runs into Damon. She pleads with him. You have multiple choice. He's hit by a car. Ric!! He strikes the tuning fork and Sybil is in pain. Stefan breaks Enzo's neck. Damon gets up. Stefan says you're free now. Damon says no, the work is just getting started. What work? Applesauce penguin, brother. He drives away.
The Armory. Sybil locked up. Stefan and Bonnie. She says she'll be fine handling Enzo. You would've picked Damon. He says yes. She says knowing Enzo is the one fighting. Yes. She says what has Damon done, besides give up? Caroline says she's just upset. I'll stay with her tonight. This had been a lot for her. He knew what she had to do today, but he hated it. i hate all this. She does, too. She leaves.
Stefan writing to Elena at a bar. Where to begin? Ric sits with him. Congratulations. Thanks. Stefan says my best man just tried to take out a good chunk of the wedding party. Ric believes Damon can be saved. Stefan says this is different. I've never seen him like this before. I hope when we put Sybil down, he'd go back to normal, but she still has hold of him.
Sybil humming.
Damon rubs his head. Memory. Making pancakes. For Sybil. You've seen the light, Damon. True devotion to me is the only way to save you from your fear. But you have too many attachments. You should work on that. Changing hearts and minds?
Lying on the street. Guy checks on him. It's Tyler!! Heard you haven't been yourself lately. Tyler says your fight's not with me, man. He had a gun. Damon grabs his wrist. Tyler says kill me, and no one forgives you. Walk away! Fight this! Walk away, Damon. Think about who you want at the end of it all. Damon says he doesn't. Tyler says that's a lie. Damon doesn't know. Tyler says do it. Let me go out as the face you can never erase. The moment you gave up. The thing that makes you a siren's little bitch. So tear me apart. Damon turns away. Tyler taunts him. Damon sees Sybil in the coffin. And bites Tyler. Again. NOOOOOO.
Next ep - Sybil has a sister! Damon's fate is sealed.
