“The Future”
KELLY MAKES A BOLD CHOICE – Sam (Jared Padalecki) comes up with a way to stop Lucifer’s (Mark Pellegrino) baby but Castiel (Misha Collins) has something else in mind for Kelly (guest star Courtney Ford). Dean (Jensen Ackles) is furious when he finds out someone stole The Colt. Kelly makes a bold choice about the baby’s future. Amanda spent 12 seasons on Stargate SG-1 and its spin-offs as Samantha Carter. She played "Naomi" for 8 episodes of season 8, but this is her first episode directing Supernatural.
kelly. Daegon wakes her for a vitamin. Forces pills in her and makes her swallow. Kelly's barely eating and not bathing. Daegon says stop disrespecting the god inside you. go ahead, play your games. Whether you're healthy or sick, filthy or clean, he will be born. Good times. Until then - do us both a favor. Take a bath. Daegon goes upstairs. Kelly's unchained now. Looks at her reflection. Water in the bath. She's going to try to kill herself. All that pain, all that death, I can't let that happen. I'm sorry. She cuts herself. Passes out. Bleeding on the floor, in the water.
Sam reading books. Research, research, research. Dean asks what's up, beautiful mind? Sam is trying to figure out the birth date. Nephilim don't need 9 months for full term. Sam thinks she'll give birth around May 18. Dean wonders what we do if we find her? Cas enters. Where have you been? Where the hell have you been and why have you ignored our phone calls? Cas says he was in Heaven, working with the angels. I thought they could help. And? Nothing. At least you're back, we're glad you're back. Dean's not. Mad. We had a shot at Daegon and we lost. Cas knows. He got the messages. Dean still mad. We really could've used the backup. But you were too busy with nothing? What's wrong with you, man? Whatever. Welcome back.
Dean in his room. Knock on the door. Cas enters. Sorry, Dean. um. He has a cassette. I wanted to return this. Dean says it's a gift and hands it back. You keep those. Oh. Cas.... You can't.....you can't just go dark like that. We didn't know what happened to you. We were worried and that's not okay. Cas apologizes. I keep failing. Again and again. I needed to come back here with a win for you, and myself. Dean says you're not the only one rolling snake eyes here. Sam's trying to find a way to not kill her or the kid. Cas asks if they run out of time, can you kill an innocent? Dean says we'll find a better way. We're better together. Now you're back, let's go Team Free Will. Let's get it done. Now Dean wants a beer.
Daegon comes down and the tub is empty. What did you do? Kelly is healed. He wouldn't let me die.
Dean tells Sam to get sleep. Sam says what if we can track the Nephilim? how? The baby's half angel, right? There was a spell, Cas and I were working in it.... Sam says I'm an idiot. The grace extraction. It worked. What if Cas used it on Kelly's kid? Remove the grace and the kid's just a kid. hot damn. Hot damn. Sam says it's just a theory, but... Dean says no, this is it, this is it, Sam. I'll get Cas. Knocks on Cas's room and no Cas.
Daegon says you really thought that would work? Kelly says my baby's not evil, he saved me. Daegon says he saved himself. He doesn't care about you. Nothing's changed. But don't worry. I'll be there to nurture him, love him, kill...everything. Like a mother should.
Cas in a car. The truck. Back to the angel. Is it done? He stole the COLT! Bullets? Only 2 in the chamber. It's enough. One for Daegon, one for Kelly. Cas says they're close. Phone rings. Dean. Cas turns it off. Angel says you're doing the right thing, you know. Cas says I'm doing this FOR the Winchesters to keep them safe from Daegon and I will kill this girl so Sam and Dean don't have to. Daegon and Kelly are in the house. Show time.
Daegon watching TV. Game show. Angels sneaking in. Cas has the Colt. Daegon still watching TV. But not when Cas reaches the chair. He shoots and she's gone. Hits him. She kills an angel. The other attacks her. Cas in the basement. Castiel?
Daegon comes down and Kelly is gone.
Sam calls Cas. No answer. They know the Colt is gone. Dean, you put the Colt back in the safe, right? Dean had it under his pillow. Likes it close. He's ready to kick Cas's feathered ass.
Cas and Kelly in the truck. She wonders why he didn't shoot. Thank you. He says please don't thank me. I had a mission and I failed. And now? Now I don't know. Trying to put as much distant between you and Daegon as I can.
Daegon and Lucifer chatting. She lies that everything is fine, but he knows she lies. Angels found us. Castiel took her. Lucifer laughs. You let the Winchester's purse dog take my son? He screams. She says I will find them. Yes you will or that little fantasy of yours.... Find my boy or the torments I visit on you will be infinite. Make this right, Daegon, make it right. She will. She has an angel chained up.
Cas and Kelly stopped. What's going on? He was communicating with Joshua the angel. Getting my orders. I couldn't kill you back there, but now I will take you to Heaven. It'll be swift and painless. She says you don't know....what if it doesn't work? He says no human form can step through that gate and survive. I'm sorry, Kelly. He's the son of Lucifer. Human archangel hybrid. That power is beyond comprehension. She says nothing is born evil. Cas can't take that chance.
Angel doesn't know where Cas is. She believes him. But she thinks he could make an excellent guess. He calls her Lucifer's side piece. She says it has it perks. Where's he going? What would Castiel do?
Cas and Kelly in a room. Keep out of sight until I can get us back on the road. Just sit. He gets her a glass of water. Searches how to fix a truck. She says something happened to me. I lost hope. I killed myself. I slit my wrists. I died. And then, he saved me. He brought me back to life. Cas says we felt that in Heaven. She says his soul surged through me and it was good, pure. I know he is good. Cas says it's not proof of some goodness. He needs you alive. Maybe. Or maybe it was a miracle. Maybe everything is happening for a reason, part of some plan. Cas says it isn't. I used to believe in a plan. The mission. But everyone's just winging it, some of us quite badly. Lucifer is sewing chaos and there's no grand purpose at work. I'm sorry. You were just there. She knows her baby can be good for this world. Cas says you can't survive his birth. Even if you're right, who will care for him when you're gone? Who? Who is strong enough to keep him on the righteous path? She says he just kicked. Do you wanna..? He does it like 20 times a day. She put his hand on her belly. Her eyes glow!! She had a vision.
Someone knocks. Dean. Sam. Yeah, that's mine.
Dean presses Cas to the wall. Sam points out Kelly. Hey. Hey. Cas asks how did you find us? Sam put a tracker on Cas's phone. Sam asks what's going on here? Cas explains. What are you doing here, then? My truck broke down. I was trying to keep you safe. Dean says when in our whole lives have I ever been safe? Kelly says he's taking me to Heaven. Cas says yes. Kelly and her baby have to die. Sam and Dean say there's another way. tell him about the extraction. Cas is skeptical. Dean says it beats the hell out of certain death, am I right? Kelly says no and walks out. Sam tries to convince her. Kelly says she's going with Cas. They need to get out of sight. Cas agrees to talk. Dean says it's like herding cats. Impala is locked. Dean tosses Cas the keys. Cas gets in the back. tosses the keys on the front seat. Kelly takes them. Boys are still arguing. She speeds off.
Cas tells her to turn around. Kelly is going to Heaven, if you tell me how to get there? Cas asks why are you doing this? Because he chose you. he told me to follow your plan and you'd make sure he was born. Sam and Dean are scared. I'm not. I know now. It's you. Cas says I am not someone you should put your faith in, Kelly. Kelly doesn't know why it's me or you, but we're destined for something great. Cas wishes he had her faith. She says you will.
**Argue in the car, boys! Oy vey. When will they learn?
**How much will and planning can the baby do? What are its intentions?
Dean working on a car. Sam asks how did this happen? What's wrong with Cas? Dean says everything's been blowing up in his face and he's so desperate for a win he can't see straight. Dean gets the truck running.
Cas and Kelly reach the playground. As long as you're here I know it's going to be okay. Joshua arrives. Good to see you. I know you must be scared, but don't be. He blows up! Daegon. If I hadn't made it here at the last possible second......JK. Flipped your friend Calvin and I've been here for hours. She attacks Cas. Loot at him, your angelic defender. you thought he would save you? This sad, fluttering little mop? She lifts Cas by his throat. Boys fire at her back. Daegon gets the Colt and starts destroying it. She melts it into pieces! Okay, who wants ice cream? Cas limps to Kelly. run. She takes his hand. Daegon calls it adorbs. The baby fuels up Cas. He can stop Daegon. How..... Call it a miracle. He sets Daegon on fire. She dies. Sam and Dean awed.
Sam and Dean get up. Cas? What was that? Um. It was me. But it was also.... you're hurt. he heals Dean's arm. thank you for coming to fight for us. Are you okay? I am. I've been so lost. I'm not lost anymore. I know now this child must be born with all his power. I have faith. We have to go. Trust me. Dean says we won't let you walk away. Sam says that's not going to happen. Cas says yes it is and makes them sleep. I'm sorry. He and Kelly get in the truck. What did he tell you? Cas says he showed me. The future. They leave.
