“Beat the Devil”
THE LONG JOURNEY HOME – Sam (Jared Padalecki), Dean (Jensen Ackles), Castiel (Misha Collins), and Gabriel (guest star Richard Speight, Jr.) must work together if they have any hope of bringing Mary (guest star Samantha Smith) and Jack (Alexander Calvert) home. Meanwhile, Rowena’s (guest star Ruth Connell) encounter with Lucifer (Mark Pellegrino) may alter the outcome of the journey for one of our heroes. Episode 21:
Pizza. Dean's 7th piece. Jack is there. Mary, too. Dean says 7 is perfectly normal. Mary says we used to call him our little piglet. With love. LOL. Sam asks how she's holding up. They're chatting, then she's stuck like a broken record. Sam was dreaming.
Rowena assembling ingredients. Cas says Gabriel wanted to extract his grace in private. he left him in Dean's room. LOL. Rowena says there's a glitch in this plan. 24 hours? Boys don't have any better ideas. Gabriel brings the vial of grace. It's a tiny bit. He says it'll be more than enough to get the job done. They have weapons. She does the spell. Rift opens. Everyone ready? They start forward and the rift fizzles closed. Well, that was fast. Very, very fast. Rowena says premature. LOL. Gabriel thought it would be enough. Cas says we know what now. One source on Earth. There is no other way. We need Lucifer.
Sam and Cas and Dean arguing. Sam doesn't want to do the Lucifer option. Cas doesn't take the reluctance lightly, but we've been avoiding him because we're afraid. We let him out of the Cage and he never stopped being our responsibility.
Gabriel is reading Laying Pipe. Rowena teasing him about the lack of performance. He says she could've messed up the spell. Maybe it's you who's off your game. She says it wasn't the spellcaster. It was the ingredient. He wonders if they'll be much longer. She says count on it. But she admires his tush. Sort of cute. He's admiring her, too. God I bet she's flexible. She says we have a little time. How would you like to fill it? I know a thing or two about wounded masculine pride.
So? Sam says you're right. It's our only choice. Another fun great choice. Dean says we still only get 24 hours in apocalypse world. Sam gets an idea.....
Where are they? Rowena and Gabriel get caught making out. Did you boys arrive at a decision? Dean says Sam has a plan. LOLOLOLOL
Lucifer drinking at a bar. He's barely buzzed. Bartender says still can't be good for you. Lucifer says I had Heaven and Hell in the palm of my hand and they didn't matter. But. I had a son. I used to be able to sense him. But now I can't feel him like he dropped off the face of the Earth. Bartender says things will work out in the end. Jack will come around. Lucifer says I never told you his name. Who are you, pal? Lucifer drugged. Powerful enough to bring down any archangel. Hey, brother. Lucifer tries to run. I killed you. Surprise..... He stumbles out. And right back into the bar. Welcome back. Whoa. Okay....what in hell did you put in that drink? Rowena answers. Very simple ingredients for a very potent spell. Lucifer wants to leave and she magically ties him up. Gabriel holds a blade to him. Lucifer begs for them to put him out of his misery. Gabriel knocks him out.
Bunker. Preparing the spell again. Oh, hey, Sam. Look, all the people I love to torture in the same room. He figures out his grace is needed. Cas cuts Lucifer's throat. Lucifer asks why not do this back at the bar? Sam says we have a lot to do and not a lot of time to do it. So I realized we could use you. Use you to keep the door open. So we'll drain you and keep on draining you. Grace on tap. Then, when we get back, we'll kill you. Sam asks if Rowena will be okay here. She says yes. Save your mum. Cas and Sam and Gabriel and Dean go through the rift.
Apocalypse world. Gabriel landed on Cas's crotch. Wow. Well, that was fun. Dean says this isn't the same landing spot. We need to find Dayton. Cas says we're in North East Kentucky. So Dayton Ohio is that way.
Dripping the grace out. Lucifer picks at Rowena. Woman staying home in the kitchen where she belongs. She knows he's trying to bait her. Sorry, Luci, I'm not biting. So, he starts singing really loud. Camptown Races.
Cas and Gabriel. thought about what's next on Earth? No. Gabriel focused on the now. Although I did tick off bucket list items. Revenge. Sex with a 300 year old woman. Cas tells him that Heaven is dying. Gabriel says they wouldn't want me back. I'm a screw-up. Cas says perhaps a screw-up is just the change we need.
Dean tells Sam he's different here. Happier, more energetic. Sam says we're finally here. We're close. Can't you feel it? They hear screaming. Gabriel says not our world, not our problem, right?
Sam beheads a creature attacking a couple. What was that thing? A vampire. It's not like vampires we've seen. We're not from around here. Vampires look like this from starvation. Not eating makes them wild. Pure stupid appetite. You're heading to Dayton? We are, too. They heard of Jack and Mary. What do you mean you were? They were going through the Morehead tunnel and stumbled into a nest. Only me and Maggie came out. There's a mountain pass but it's a long way around. Tunnel is the quickest route. Sam says we've faced worse than vamps. We're going through that tunnel.
He keeps loudly singing. Come on, Red. Trying to have a good time. Like last time. When I surprised you at your hotel room. You froze. You choked. So I choked you. What was that like, burning to death? I can't get that smell out of my nose. She finally grabs his hair. Shut your mouth! You know what your grace is making possible? A heartfelt family reunion. Jack will be so glad to see his fathers. you are nothing to him. Or me. Or anyone now. Nothing.... He breaks out of her spell cuffs. You shouldn't have made me mad. You gave me something to fight for again. My boy. So I'll be quick. She magically tosses him, but it's through the rift. BOLLOCKS.
Rowena packing. Ranting to herself. you're the only person who can maybe devise a way to keep the door open. But sorry, boys. Not my problem. Except she can't leave. Bollocks! Conscience.
They've reached the tunnel. Anything moves, kill it. Dean goes first. They're creeping in the dark. Man trips and Maggie screams. Then they see a backpack and a shoe. Keep creeping along. Something growling. Found one. Sam says let me. It's eating, ignoring them. They kill it. Keep moving. There's one in the back behind Sam. One grabs at Maggie. Dean chases it off. Keep moving. Come up to water and a hole to sunlight above. Dean says there's a blocked passage over here. Move some rocks. Cas and Gabriel do so. Maggie hears something. Sam, where are you going? The group gets attacked. All fighting off vampires. Sam gets grabbed by two. They bite him! And rip into his jugular! They drag him away while he's spouting blood. Dean gets loose and goes after Cas. Cas says he's gone. Dean wants to run in. Cas says we don't have time! Dean, we can't save him.
Dean looks dead. He's reliving that moment in his head over and over. Maggie tries to say something comforting and he glares at her.
Sam's body. He really looks dead.
Cas says the warding is too strong. He can't go forward. Gabriel puts his hand on it. They smoke. Nullified. People appear with guns. Mary! Castiel. How did you even find us? She hugs Dean. She smiles. He can't. Dean, where's Sam? He cries. Can't speak.
Sam's body. He gasps awake! Green glow stick on him. His neck is sealed. Lucifer! Put on your big boy pants and cut to the realization that yup, it's me. You brought me back. I did. You're welcome. Why? Getting to that. The rift. Rowena. Lucifer says she's okay. Sam says we drained you. Lucifer says I was tracking you here, then came across a handful of angels and ate them. Not a long story, is it? Sam asks what do you want? Lucifer says what everyone wants. Personal apology from Pops and a lifetime of Drag Race episodes. Lucifer is holding the vampires back. Sam asks what do you want?!! Lucifer says I want a relationship with my son. there was a time I'd grab him, but I've grown. I want my son and you're going to help me. Lucifer wants to come bearing gifts. Boop. That's you. Acknowledge that I brought you back to life. You need me. Sam asks what if I say no? Lucifer says I'm getting to Jack one way or another. Are you coming with? Or that. Your move, Champ.
Dayton. a few cabins here. Jack is really upset. Cas says if we could've, we would've. Dean wants to go back and get the body. Someone rings an alarm. Sam walks in to camp. But where's Lu oh there he is. Sam looks so sorry. Lucifer greets Jack.
Next ep - Lucifer says they need him.
