SEASON PREMIERE – While trying to decipher The Monitor’s (guest star LaMonica Garrett) mission, Oliver (Stephen Amell) returns to Starling City where he encounters familiar faces. Meanwhile, Mia (Katherine McNamara) and William’s (Ben Lewis) team clash with a new foe. James Bamford directed the episode written by Beth Schwartz & Marc Guggenheim (#801). Episode 1:
The Flash episode before this showed that Crisis is already building. Anti-matter involved.
Running through a forest. The Hood trying to get the attention of a ship near Lian Yu. They see the bonfire. There's a Batman mask with an arrow through it!
Oliver in the hospital. Hi, Mom. Oh, my beautiful boy! She hugs and kisses him.
Home to Queen Mansion. She says your room is exactly how you left it. Malcolm comes to greet and hug him. Oliver asks where's Walter? He sold his shares to the company when the Gambit went down. Tommy says Yachts suck. They hug and laugh. Why are you looking at me like I'm the one who's been gone a decade? Oliver asks Where's Thea? Moira and Tommy tell him. Thea took Vertigo. Thea, on her 18th birthday, overdosed.
Raisa's chicken marsala. Oliver says I made this for William all the time. Ooops. They ask how he survived. Long story. Tommy has been married and divorced twice. Oliver says he's tired and heading up to his room.
It's raining. He sits on the bed with a photo of him and Felicity and Mia. Moira comes in and says there are fresh towels in the bathroom. You must feel like you're on a different planet or something. He says something like that. She says you're not the same man as when you left. I sense it's for the better. He asks if she had to leave them to protect them, would she have done it? She says everything I've ever done is to protect my children. All a parent can do. Some day you'll understand. He tears up and hugs her. I'm so sorry. She says you're home and you're safe. Get some rest. He took her badge.
Green Arrow uses her badge in Queen Consolidated. Finds people dead with arrows in them! Fights with the archer. You have failed this city. It's a knock down fight like with Prometheus. Laurel saves Oliver then asks what the hell he's doing on her Earth. The archer takes off his hood and reveals Adrian! Black Siren Laurel is now Earth-2 Black Canary with short bobbed bleached hair and an updated costume.
**Katie's bob is a bit too short to be the most flattering on her. The length of the dark wig that Siren would put on was gorgeous with her bone structure. This cut and the major bleach is not great.
Adrian doing the salmon ladder. Oliver says show off. Laurel says this is my bunker. Starling City. Chase helps her. We make a good team. What are you doing on my Earth? What were you doing on Lian Yu? He says he was sent and put on Lian Yu. Adrian asks questions. Oliver says sorry. He says he didn't kill those scientists. It was the Dark Archer. Oliver says it's Malcolm Merlyn. I'm going to have a conversation with my step-dad.
Into Malcolm's office. Monitor is here. He finds humanity impressive. He reminds Oliver to not interfere in this Earth. Oliver tells him I went to retrieve the particles you asked me to and Malcolm already stole them. Oliver asks why he wants them. Monitor says that I asked should be enough. Or have you forgotten why I've tasked you?
The future. William at a party. With the other vigilantes. They're security. Mia goes outside to check the perimeter. Growing pains.
Mia is confronted. The man jams her comm. There's a dead guard around the corner.
Malcolm and Oliver in Queen Merlyn Enterprises. Oliver asks about the dwarf star project. Malcolm asks how he knows about that? Oliver says the internet. He stayed up last night catching up. Malcolm says the project is completely benign. Oliver asks for the bathroom.
And finds a blonde girl with glasses. He was looking for Felicity. She has Smoak Tech here. So he needs to know who does run the IT dept? He gets to a computer.
Archer busts in on Malcolm. You have failed this city! And a League archer comes i to fight. Green Arrow taking hits. But finally gets him down. Tells Malcolm to get out. Peels the hood back. It's TOMMY that's the Dark Archer. Who then escapes Oliver out the window.
**Well, they said ep 1 would be an ode to season 1 and we certainly see that.
**In case you haven't heard, there's a proposed spinoff with the future kids and Laurel and Dinah.
Dinah interviews Malcolm and Moira about the attack last night. She's a sargeant. Tommy and Oliver in the room as well. Rene says interview is over. Anything else, you can go through me or Mr. Merlyn's attorney.
Oliver dressed for his return party. John Diggle has been hired by Moira to accompany Oliver. You can call me Diggle. Dig, if you want.
It's out John! Cisco let him borrow dimensional travel. He wants to know what Oliver is up to. Oliver won't ask him to risk this. Believe me when I say it's different. John says Felicity told me. What didn't she tell me? Oliver says Crisis is coming, John. He's seen what happens. He's watched me die.
Future. Deathstroke guys invade the party. William gets slugged. Mia cut on the arm. Vasquez was kidnapped. John Jr. leads the Deathstroke gang.
Laurel comes to Oliver's party. Tommy stocked Pinot Noir for her.
Oliver tries to go and John finds him again. Oliver says I'm containing this. I won't put others at risk. John won't let him go gently in that good night. So Oliver chokes him out.
Oliver finds Tommy in the parking garage. They know each other's hood secrets. Tommy says you never should've gotten yourself involved in this. Oliver gets darted in the neck by Rene.
**Earth-2 is fun. Interesting that they haven't referenced Robert Queen being the original Green Arrow there, though.
Dinah and Rene. Oliver hanging by chains. Tommy says you really were on Lian Yu. So why are you running around in the Hood's hood? Tommy says nothing can save this city. Oliver says this is The Undertaking. You want to destroy the Glades and get vengeance for Thea. Tommy asks how could you know that? What happened to you? What happened to you? Tommy says this city CAN'T BE SAVED. Oliver says that's not true. Tommy sees Thea dead every time he closes his eyes. He won't let her down again. Oliver says this won't make you feel better, Tommy. Tommy says I just want The Glades to suffer. Goodnight, Oliver.
Future. Mia and Zoe bickering. Connor asks William what they've got. Deathstroke is more powerful than before the wall came down. William found a likely location. Connor says suit up. William talks to Mia about working with the team. Could you follow Connor's lead just this one time. We're together for a reason, just like our parents. Now it's our turn. We don't want to mess it up, do we?
Oliver climbs the chains to get out of his bonds. John shoots a guard. Oliver tells him Tommy is planning The Undertaking. Oliver tells John he still has to do this on his own. You will die and it will be on me. Look at the Earth we're on! Everyone's alive! John points out Dinah and Rene are very bad people here. This world is worse because you weren't in it. Oliver says you better have a good plan.
They go to Laurel's bunker. Oliver tells them about Tommy and The Undertaking. Dwarf star particles make a very real weapon. Adrian narrows it down to 4 blocks. Oliver says we find where Thea died, we find Tommy. And now Suit up. Heh.
**Oliver and Adrian is lol. "Maybe I'm just 10 steps ahead of you." Earth-2 Adrian is cranky and not used to others knowing things before him. Laurel probably lets him do all the smarty stuff then they go kick ass.
**Has it been 5 months? The seasons normally start with the passage of time during hiatus, but we've had no specific mention of time so far. John seems to be here pretty soon after Felicity told him Oliver left and why.
Oliver and Spartan and Black Canary and The Hood look for Tommy. Take down some thugs and drug dealers. Oliver spots the Dark Archer. Rene and Dinah in the stairwell. He knocks them out. Back on my Earth, you had a better teacher. LOL. Oliver gets to Tommy. They shoot arrows at each other before fighting. Tommy pulls a sword. He and Oliver eventually going with fists and feet. Oliver beats him. Tommy says it's encrypted. You can't break it in time. Oliver says you can. We're only as good as the people we have in our lives. I lost people, too, Tommy. Every one of those losses brings us to choices of darkness and light. Are you going to kill thousands of innocent people or be the man I know you are? Tommy gets up. Goes to the device. Shuts it down. That was a pretty good speech.
**Hope we get to see more iterations of Tommy this season. Those scenes always pull the best out of Stephen.
Adrian gives the dwarf star particles to Oliver. Oliver says don't worry. Adrian says you're the Hood from another reality. Bruce Wayne once told him to eliminate the impossible. Oliver tells him to change The Hood to Green Arrow. Trust me. Oliver tells Laurel the city is lucky to have a hero like you in it. She thanks him. Take care of yourself. Both of you.
John asks Oliver if he's okay. Oliver says I'm alive. John thinks they can prevent the future. You're not alone in this. Can we go home now? Oliver has one more thing to do.
Future. Deathstroke gang. Connor says JJ will try to kill him. It'll work.
Vasquez beaten. JJ wants the codes. Vasquez complies. Connor enters the room and attacks the goons. What's up, JJ? Miss me? JJ orders them to kill Connor. Mia comes in to get Vasquez. JJ attacks her hard. I own this city now. Connor saves her. JJ escapes. Mia says from now on we're doing things my way.
Oliver comes to Tommy at the police station. Are you okay? Tommy doesn't know. He can't shake the feeling that their sister would be alive if you'd just been here. Moira and Merlyn arrive. We'll get you out of here. Tommy says he's so sorry. Oliver has to go. Mom? Into the hall. Bye, Mom. I love you. She loves him, too. He's teary. She says I'll see you at the house.
Oliver and John ready to go. Rene and Dinah arrested. Laurel comes in. City is under attack. By who? Everything is vaporized! We have to get out of here! Oliver sees his mother die. Tommy runs out and dies. Laurel yells at Oliver. He grabs her and they all enter the portal.
Next ep - Earth-2 is gone. An entire world erased from existence.
