"The Rupture"
AS IT IS WRITTEN – Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) together with Rowena (guest star Ruth Connell) work tirelessly to keep all of Hell from breaking loose. Castiel (Misha Collins) cannot forgive an arrogant betrayal. Charles Beeson directed the episode written by Robert Berens.(#1504). Original Airdate 10/24/2019.
Episode 3:
Hunters guarding the perimeter. Ghosts are trying more and more to get out.
Dean and Sam and crew. This better work. Rowena says it will work. Get me close the epicenter and she'll patch the crumbling walls right up and we'll be home in time for high tea. Big hole to Hell in the ground. Cas is not liking this. They enter the crypt. Bar the door. Pour salt. Rowena readying her spell. Ghosts beating on the door. She starts chanting. Her eyes glow purple. She continues chanting. Sam gets a text that it's working. Rowena's struggling. The pressure is too much. the bowl blows up and she's knocked to the ground. We're all going to die!
Carver crypt. Heh. She asks for a real drink. Dean hands over his flask. Belphagor says she failed. Rowena says no magic could work. the wall is close to collapse. I could feel all of the spirits. Their anger and hatred. They're too wild and desperate and angry. Together they're too strong. No magic on Earth can stop it. Cas asks how long they have? She says hours if we're lucky. She insists that it's over! Perhaps if I'd gotten here sooner. But now it's too late. Belphagor is leaving. Cas goes after him. Dean yells that we don't give up. That's not who we are! Sam asks if she needs anything. She says a moment.
Belphagor goes to the hole.
Dean weaponing up. Sam asks what are you doing? Dean isn't giving up. We were going to end this. We're going to be free! Sam says this feels bigger than us. I'm out of ideas and I'm freaked. Dean says he's pissed. At God. This sloppy ghost apocalypse? No. I'll be damned if I let some glorified fanboy have the last word! Sam goes to Rowena. She doesn't have anything useful.
Bel says it's a tear. Cas asks why was he looking for this? Bel has an idea, but you're not going to like it.
Lilith's Crook. It's more of a horn. Anyways, when Lilith sent demons to do her bidding, there was no guarantee the demons would do her bidding topside. So she made the horn. She never needed to use it. It was enough to know she could. Then Crowley had other methods. It's in Lilith's chamber in Hell. We suck all of Hell's ghosts back into Hell. And Rowena slams the door shut. It's a healing spell of a kind. She can use the spell to make the hole seal itself up. Dean asks what she needs. Lavender, myrrh, an owl, quiet, and assistance. Samuel. And she needs a carrier at the edge of the hole. They carry the bomb, I light the fuse, they toss it in. And whoever does this will be unprotected. Bel doesn't want to go to Hell alone. He wants protection. Dean says Cas will go. You've been to Hell before. Cas says it sounds like I don't have a choice.
Ketch wakes in the hospital. You're awake. Nurse says they took the bullets out. You were injured in a hunting accident? He's standing up. Disconnecting. Lady doctor comes in and kills the nurse. It's the demon. She beats on him. He fights back. Tries to get a weapon. An angel blade. She says you had one job. He tries to stab her. She wants to know where Belphagor is. He says I haven't the foggiest. She says you're protecting your friends. You won't give them up? He won't, not at any price. She rips his heart out!
**Damn, we lose Ketch in ep 3? To a standard demon? That sucks. He's always been so entertaining. Good actor. Hope Ketch can get a hunter's funeral.
Cemetery. Bel and Cas. Have a plan for getting topside? Cas will figure something out. Bel keeps pushing the danger angle. And your friends didn't seem to care an inch about out. Cas knocks him down the hole. Then follows.
Hunter brings more stuff to the crypt. One owl skull. Sam asks how bad it is. She says it's manageable. Sam tells her we need the hunters armed up on the other side of that wall. Dean gets a text from Ketch's phone. It's the demon. She uses the phone to get intel.
Quiet down in Hell. Bel repeats that he likes it here. You needed protection for an empty Hell? Bel wants to be friends. I'm growing on Sam and Dean, like a cancer. Cas says they're using you. They don't care. Bel keeps pushing. Cas says you're wearing Jack, who was like a son to me, like a coat. It's an abomination. You're an abomination. Is this it? yep. Open the doors. There's someone inside. Cas grabs the demon. And stabs it. We came for one thing and one thing only. The room has been looted a bit. Enochian song of praise to Lucifer on a box. Bel gestures for Cas to read it. Cas recites the words. Nothing happens. Bel says I think they need to be sung. Cas starts.
Dean at the edge of the hole. Puts his back to a headstone. Where are you, Ketch?
Sam thinks he should be outside. Rowena says time for you to do your part. Read. The ingredients are in her bowl.
Cas finishes and the box opens. The horn. Bel wants it. Demon chick tosses Cas.
**Anyone have a sense of foreboding? The clips they show at the beginning of an episode are always relevant and tonight they showed Dean talking to Rowena about Sam being the only one that kills her. Her death written. And now........it's just Sam and Rowena in the crypt during a momentous spell moment.
Hey, Ardat, how did you find me? She got a hot tip. Attacks him. You on the throne? Never going to happen. Cas attacks her. She says Bel wants to rule Hell. It's all he's ever wanted. I've been watching for centuries. Do you have any idea what he is? Bel stabs her dead. Cas asks if it's true. Is. It. True? Bel says I don't want to rule Hell. What do you want? you should go. Bel says all the ghosts and demons will go into me. Lilith, Crowley, they are nothing! I'll be a god. Or close enough. Cas says you've been playing us all along. Bel blows the horn.
They hear it topside. Souls returning to Hell as Bel keeps blowing.
Rowena and Sam chanting.
Cas covers his ears.
Sam and Rowena keep going. The spell activates. Dean's bomb is glowing. He readies and tosses it down.
Cas is still in Hell. He grabs Bel and slugs him.
What happened? Did it work? Sam asks. Rowena doesn't look pleased. Dean wonders What the hell?
Cas keeps hitting Bel. Bel fakes like Jack's talking. Cas calls him a liar and smites him. Burning Jack's vessel.
**The tear wasn't closing much. The walls shook but it's still a wide gash.
**Bell sucked in a lot of souls. Is angel smiting enough to kill him? Did they fully go inside him and stay, or to the horn? Guess it's good Lilith was devoted to lucifer.
The body is fully burned down to a black skeleton.
The tear is closing. Dean calls Sam. Are the ghosts gone? I don't know. But the crack's closing. Something doesn't feel right.
Rowena cuts herself and digs in. She pulls out her last resurrection sachet. Won't need that where I'm going. Magic can do anything. Can contain anything. Sam asks what do you mean, contain. She says death is an infinite vessel. Just two ingredients. Her blood and her final breath. I'll absorb the ghosts and demons and return them to Hell. They'll be released where they belong. I have to die and it has to be you that kills me.
Cas appears to Dean. What the hell happened?
Rowena says it has to be you. It's in Death's books. He says screw the books. She can't do it herself. It has to be you.
Cas tells Dean that he killed Bel and the horn is gone.
Rowena doesn't care to take her own life, but she believes in prophecy and magic. I know this in my bones. It has to be this way. Do it! Kill me, Samuel! I know we've gotten quite fond of each other, haven't we? But will you let the world die, let your brother die, just so I can live? Sam says no. And stabs her.
Dean asks Cas what were you thinking?
Rowena twists the knife. Then pulls it out. Sam's teary with her. She walks out and the souls are going into her glowing body. She goes to the rupture. The ghosts and demons are in her. Goodbye, boys. She nears the edge. And falls. Nice Celtic flute. The tear seals up.
**Now Sam needs to update the other two while Cas tells them what Belphagor attempted to do.
Bunker. Dean checks on Sam. Sam asks for word. Dean says the town's as good as can be expected. They found Ketch dead. What? How? Bad. Demon. Dean says it's over. god threw one last apocalypse at us and we beat it. What you did.....Rowena. You didn't have a choice. Sam knows.
Dean drinking. Cas asks how's Sam? Dean says not great. Cas is sorry about Rowena. Dean asks why he didn't stick to the plan. Cas tells him what Belphagor was doing. The plan changed, Dean. Something always goes wrong. Dean says that something is always you. Cas says you used to trust me. Now you can barely look at me. I've tried to talk to you over and over and you don't care. I'm dead to you. You still blame me for Mary. Well, I don't think there's anything left to say. Dean asks where are you going? Cas says Jack is dead. Chuck is gone. You and Sam have each other. I think it's time for me to move on. Cas leaves the bunker.
