"Golden Time"
OUT OF DIFFICULTIES GROW MIRACLES – Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) are visited by an old friend. Castiel (Misha Collins) investigates the disappearance of a local teen. John Showalter directed the episode written by Meredith Glynn (#1506). Original Airdate 11/21/2019.
Episode 6:
Hotel. Dark decor. Woman knocks for Mrs. McCloud. Apartments. Everything okay? She spells the locks open. Okay, game on. She trashes the place looking for something. Making it look like a smash and grab robbery. Where is the good stuff?? Her nose is bleeding on a book. Vision fuzzy. She starts coughing and choking. Crawling for the door. Bleeding from the eyes. Collapses dead.
Sam looking for another case on the laptop. ghost passes in the hall. Dean comes in in his robe and pajamas. Reading the cereal box. Did you eat the whole box? Yeah. Dean marathoning Scoobie Doo. He's looking for more cereal. Sam hasn't had a vision since Colorado. Dean says God will find us.
Cas checks out a bait and tackle shop. Clarence. LOL. Owner lets him in. Bait working out good? Cas says yes. I think it's the fish. Anticipating me. I had a friend who always praised fishing for its meditative qualities. Wish I found it more relaxing. Owner says there was a missing kid pulled from the lake this morning. He's volunteer firefighter. Body had no blood. Weird, huh?
Sam out jogging. Cold breath. Shimmer of a ghost. Eileen? Hi, Sam.
Eileen was in Hell. The deaf woman. Hellhound took her to Hell. She escaped and ran. Been trying to get them to see her for a while now. I know how it ends. We go crazy. We hurt people. I can't stay here and I won't go back down there. So I got you guys could put in a good word up there? Dean says souls from Hell can't go to Heaven. I'm sorry. She is, too.
Sam wanted Dean to be more sensitive. Dean asks about a soul catcher. Make her own. Sam says that spell isn't easy. Dean says you're Rowena's protege. Sam would need a crystal. Maybe we can go to Rowena's place. Been meaning to go after....you no. Dean isn't coming. That's a milk run. Sam says this matters. We can do this. Dean says that's why you're going to kick it in the ass.
Cas looking for the sheriff. But he gets his hair cut on Tuesday. Woman is surprised Cas is FBI. Cas says he's on vacation. The woman thinks her son is missing, too. He was supposed to be back first thing this morning. I need to find my son! Please, Agent..... Can you help me? He agrees.
Sam at the gas station. Apologizing to Eileen. Wish there was more we could do for you. She'll take the crystal trap thing. Sam says I was in Hell a long time ago. It gets inside you. Talking helps. She's can't yet. Sam understands. Signs it, too. She's impressed. He started practicing after they met.
Coming to Rowena's place. Open the double doors. The dead woman is still here. Mirror shimmers.
There are witches in a van outside. Spying.
**Hmm, so Rowena's death has gotten around and other witches are very interested in her stuff? Or at least it's been noticed she hasn't been home in many days. The building it quite Gothic on the inside with all the black and everything, but it certainly suits Rowena's sense of glamour. The dead witch only looked around the living room, though. There's no bed visible during her trashing the room, so it's not an open studio.
Sam notices a tattoo behind the woman's ear. Ordo Malefictarum. She tore this place apart. Let's find what we're looking for and get out of here. He shuts the doors.
Sheriff says the woman always complains about something in town. Teenager is probably with his buddies sobering up. Some years, we lose hikers or they drown. Shane came out for last year's bluegrass festival. Cas wants to look at the body. Sheriff says it's on the way to Cheyenne. Wants to talk to Cas's supervisor.
Dean hears one of the phones ringing. This is Assistant Director Kaiser. Put my agent on the phone, please. Cas, Sam's been trying to call you. God, Chuck, is back on the board. And check your damn messages. Yes, sir, thank you, sir. Heh. Sheriff will give him the case files.
Sam and Eileen wonder where Rowena's real stash is. Eileen walks through a wall. In here! Room behind the bookcase. Of course. All Rowena's nicely organized supplies. And books. Journals! Her spell work, all of it, right up until the end. Eileen says you miss her. Sam says I killed her. Her idea. She sacrificed herself to save us, to save the world. Ever feel like the punchline to a cosmic joke? Eileen says are you kidding? Sam says Rowena knew the game was rigged. Magic is how she kept control. Page falls out of a journal. No way! Sam sits with it. Eileen wants to know what's going on. He says When my mom was killed, Rowena couldn't bring her back. We needed a body. But... Rowena was working on a way to make spirit flesh! We found out Mom was happy in Heaven, so.... She never finished it. But I think I can. We can bring you back.
Cas looks at the files. Missing all in one section of Jenny Lake.
Everything loaded in the trunk of the Impala. Sam starts bleeding and collapsing. What's happening? He struggles for the hex bag. Tucked under the wheel well. Witches come over. Hello, Sam.
**Yeah, considering Rowena's prowess, I would not want to let other witches get hold of her journals or rare items or the Book of the Damned. Common ingredients, whatever. But absolutely nothing of power.
**I'm guessing Rowena's guard spell is why the witch died in her place but Sam was totally fine. She rigged the apartment to recognize friends and kill intruders.
The van. Sam wakes up tied up. Who are you? We came for what Rowena left behind. Just when we thought we wouldn't get it, you came along. The apartment's hexed. Everyone dies, except for you. So the body was one of yours. Witch is going to bring the witch back. Sam says I can get the stuff for you, but I need that spell. She says the spell like this can only be used once. They borrowed some of Sam's hair. Do as your told and die quick, or play tough and..... die slowly. Voodoo doll.
Jenny Lake. The mom followed Cas. Agent Warley, you have to let me help. I told Caleb to get fresh air. She says Caleb wouldn't come out here because of the silver mine. It's not safe. Toxic runoff. Cas wants to see it.
Emily brings Sam and a box to the apartment. Make it quick, just the good stuff. He offers to cover the dead body. Emily asks if he thinks the dead witch is pretty. Everyone thinks she's pretty. He asks were you close. She made my life hell. What did she do? Sam gets it. My older brother put super glue in my toothpaste. Emily says she made me invisible for a week and tried to sell me to a demon and turned my first crush into a water balloon and popped him. And then she got mean. Start packing.
Cas asks if they're getting close. She thinks so. She used to work in finance. Cashed out and moved the kid here. Caleb says moving here ruined his life. Cas says prepare yourself. There are things out there that aren't humans. Monsters are real. I think this mine is lair. Caleb is sitting on the trail! Mom? That's easy......
Emily talks about Steve the good bunny. But Jessie needed his bones. Turned Emily's tongue into a snake. Her cheek is scarred from where it bit her. Sam offers to give her Rowena's stuff so she can run and start over. Emily calls him a liar and stabs the doll.
Caleb says you won't believe me. I saw some guy dragging a body to the lake. Tried to photograph him. But it was a monster. I ran, busted my ankle, and hid. Cas asks if he got a look at the monster. Sheriff arrives! Jinn. Says he tries not to kill much, but you're a problem. Shoots Cas. Cas says it's always you, you selfish little men in authority. You think your power will protect you. But it won't protect you from me. He stabs the jinn with the angel blade. A LOT. Cas is covered in blood.
**Sam, you think an abused witch girl is going to make it easy? Come on, man. She's been shown and told no reason to trust humans or hunters.
Sam filled the box. Don't make me hurt you. Dean arrives with the other witch. Emily twists the voodoo doll. Jessie is back up. Sam knocks the doll away. Magic against him. Emily picks it up and twists. Eileen tosses the other ghost. She and ghost witch fight. Dean shoots Emily. The witch them chants at Dean. I'll grind your heart to dust. Sam tackles her. How? He grabbed what he needed to do a spell on her. Eileen is in trouble. Dean has to burn ghost witch. Sam kills the other one. Hurry, Dean. Lights the dead body. Ghost witch gone.
Cas dropped the body in the lake. Then offers to heal the kid's ankle. But his power isn't working. It takes a lot of effort to do it. Caleb is amazed. He can stand. She asks if Cas was sent by God. Cas says I can't explain. You're better off not knowing. If I stay, nothing changes. Time for me to get back in the game.
Sam ran a bath. Pours in herbs?? Eileen says I just get in? Sam guesses. Then I just say the words. She steps in the water. Sits. Sam says the Latin. His back was turned. Eileen sits up naked. Looks at her hands. Stands. Eileen? Wraps in the towel. She steps out of the bath. Sam? She reaches out to him. He takes her hand. Corporeal. She thanks him. Then hugs him. He looks like he needed this win.
Dean asks how's Eileen? Asleep. Big day. So did you. Rolls Sam a beer. Sam says I got lucky. Dean wishes they knew about the spell for Mom. you did good today. I did jack. Sam says you killed a witch and saved my ass. Sam says we have moves here. Dean doesn't know what's God and what isn't and it's driving him crazy. Sam says we'll find a way to beat him. We break the rules. But I can't do it without you. I need my brother.
